"So, you wanted to talk Garnet?" Steven asked as they were sitting on the roof of the barn.

It had been two days before Garnet returned in the evening, and she wanted to take Steven aside to talk. Steven was not exactly surprised to know that Garnet revealed she figured out he was banging Pearl and Amethyst.

"Is that what we're mostly here about?" Steven asked.

"Not exactly. A part of it, really. My more pressing concern is making sure you're all right and ready to go down the road of being a Crystal Gem. Your sudden burst of maturity has just made me realize that I…and the others may have some mistakes that had you grow up so fast." Garnet said with a sigh. "Plus, we have to talk about your endeavors with Pearl and Amethyst."

"Am I in trouble?" Steven asked.

"Not really. You're basically keeping Pearl relatively less high strung and Amethyst from going out to seek other partners. I just want to ask if it was Pearl who came to you." Garnet asked.

"Nope. That was all me. Mostly because I didn't exactly want to risk messing up a human girl because I wanted to experiment, and I was a bit unnerved Pearl was watching me sleep." Steven admitted. "Just happened."

Garnet facepalmed.

"As long as it's contained and both parties are agreeing, I…will put up with it." Garnet said. "Because there's more important matters. Training you up to snuff."

"I'm getting there." Steven assured. "By the way, anything up in the future?"

"Around you it's fuzzy, but I do see a brown girl with glasses." Garnet said as Steven slid down. "I presume you and this girl met."

"Connie." Steven said to himself before thinking. "But I haven't even went to the Moon Spire yet. She's going to be here early."

Steven went for the warp pad and returned to the beach house where Amethyst and Pearl were waiting.

"So, what did G…"

"Just wanted to make sure you weren't taking advantage of little ol' me. So basically, she knows we're banging, but she's not going to stop us as long as it's contained." Steven said getting his sword. "I'm going to do a bit of practice."

Garnet came as soon as Steven left. Pearl awkwardly shuffled off as Amethyst bluntly asked if she was going to take a turn. She got punched for that.

-The Next Day-

Steven woke up bright and early today, and he took a few stretches before getting into gear. With himself now past his former strength, he felt it suitable to get himself a new look. Large, in shape, and in charge, he thought as he put on his new clothes. A reddish-black traditional and loose gi that was secured together with a dark red obi tied in a knot at the left of his waist, red boots that clasp together on the front of his shins, light pink armbands, and a blood red headband. He had made sure to alter the pants of the gi to have pockets. He was working on forming some armor, but it was not ready at the moment.

"I need to get Bismuth out of Lion as soon I find him." Steven thought before coming down for breakfast.

"Morning, ladies. What do think of the new duds?" Steven said taking a seat.

"Not bad. Good for you to ditch the color pink entirely. Make yourself your own man." Amethyst said warmly.

"I like the pink armbands." Pearl said sheepishly as Steven eat viciously at his meal.

"Steven, you're free to keep up your training. We'll be investigating for a corrupt Gem causing…" Garnet said as the place rumbled. "earthquakes."

Steven nodded, finished his meal, and took off with his sword by his side. But not before snagging something from the fridge to put in his pocket. He spied Connie blissfully reading away, and took his time walking up to her. Upon coming closer, he spied she was reading a manga.

"So, the bookworm on her lonesome has stepped into my neighborhood." Steven said as Connie looked up. "Glad to see you on the sunny side, Connie."

"Steven! You…live here." Connie said getting up.

"Beach City. A town full of danger, secrets, and mystery. The lot of people here just don't really care for it, but Connie…you may want to take a few steps back." Steven said as the earth shook. "Right now!"

A chunk of rock broke from the mountain as Steven sliced it in two with Aoi having the halves fall to the waysides. Connie was panting, cheeks flushed red, and her eyes were wide. She was a mix of emotions: shock, admiration, and a tiny bit of desire. It was one thing to see it in books, but to actually see a real-life swordsman in action. If it was not for her shyness, she would have sputtering a mile a minute. She could mark that moment as her 'girlhood awakening'.

"That was so cool…" Connie said trying to control herself.

"Look, you probably shouldn't be on the beach at the moment. I'm looking for the source of the quakes. A beastie that's going to be a total pain. It's a long story…quite the epic." Steven said sheathing Aoi.

"I like stories. Go on." Connie remarked.

So, they walked, and Steven told her bits of his story. The two had grabbed a donut with Steven buying hers as his way of saying thanks. The two sat at the boardwalk eating in silence before Steven spoke up.

"Sorry, it's not all smiles. Sadly, in real life, people be dicks." Steven said sourly.

"Ouch. That must be rough, but the alien powers have to be worth it, right?" Connie asked.

"I mean, it's awesome. But at what cost? My childhood wasn't too bad, but that slacking piece of shit dumped me with responsibility I or my cohorts shouldn't have. Lied and used everyone around her. The corrupt gems are only wrecking shit because of her. I have to deal with that, figure out how to save the world, and end her senseless war!" Steven said fuming before calming down. "I'm sorry…but I just needed to vent to someone. I…I'm glad it was you. Because we actually crossed paths before the pizza place."

Steven pulled out the glow bracelet.

"It was the Beach City parade. You dropped it and I couldn't reach you. So, I stored it away, always using it to remind me of your pretty face." Steven said kindly.

"Just a second ago, you were all emotional and scowls, now you want to be smooth and cheesy." Connie said giggling a bit before taking it. "But, thanks. I'm glad you held on to it."

"You're very welcome, Connie. I…" Steven said before sensing a corrupted Gem. "Oh shit…remember that beastie? It's coming!"

Ripping out from the other side of the dock was the corrupted Gem, itself, trapping Steven and Connie. At least, about fleeing on foot.

"Connie, I need to not scream my ear off when I do this!" Steven said calmly.

Before Connie could say anything, he grabbed her and flew into the sky dodging the corrupted Gem's lunge for where they were. The gust of wind from this did blow Connie's hat off her head.

"You can fly?!" Connie squeaked. "That is so cool!"

"Looks like I owe you a new hat." Steven said awkwardly before getting her onto the beach. "Sorry about that."

"You took me flying. Forget the hat, go kick that monster's butt!" Connie said excitedly.

"Yes, m'am!" Steven said rushing back into the fray.

Steven used his Diamond Eyes to attempt to paralyze the corrupted Gem managing to slow its movements before Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl came in at the last moment to land the killing shot. Steven, however, promptly caught the poofed Gem, bubbled it, and sent it off to the temple in one swoop.

"You're a bit late, guys." Steven teased.

"I knew you could handle it. I didn't want to interfere with your funky flow." Garnet teased. "And stop Pearl from making it awkward."

"I would not make it awkward." Pearl protested.

"Yes, you would." Steven snarked. "Connie. I want you to meet my caretakers. Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl. We are Terra's Trifecta of Hope, the Keepers of the Crust, the Crystal Gems."

Amethyst was chuckling at the unneeded names of grandeur.

"Sorry about your hat…but I think I can make it up. I do like your company…and I could use a human sparring partner. How you like to learn martial ar…." Steven said before Connie yelled "YES!"

"But just please tell me you can teach me how to fly." Connie insisted.

"I'm not sure Steven can, his…" Pearl said before Steven took Connie's head.

Focusing his energy and using a bit of warper energy, he drew out Connie's ki which formed a small golf ball-sized about her hand glowing bright blue.

"Pearl, Pink's gem just makes easier for me to fly. And what you don't realize about humans is we all have access to ki…but we just need the right method to draw it out to which I can do that in spades." Steven said as Pearl was left jumbling her words. "So, kindly retract your statement because you were wrong."

"Oh shit! You just got owned!" Amethyst said as the ki dissipated.

"I should give you my number. " Steven and Connie said nearly at the same time.

All and all, a pretty good day in Steven's book.

-Later at the Maheswaran Household-

"And that's what happened." Connie said after explaining what happened hiding a few details.

"Let me get this straight. Shonen Boy lives in that town being some kind of alien hybrid. Showed you around town, saved your life, and offered to teach you martial arts." Priyanka said exhausted.

She wanted to doubt Connie, but did Connie draw out what little ki could muster on her own which was enough to last for a few moments before sputtering. Priyanka had always thought those mangas were silly. Now? She had to put up with Doug giving her the biggest shit-eating grin. Nope, she was not going to live it down now. And now, she had to worry about some boy that her daughter has an interest.

"Of all the people my daughter had to get an interest in, it's a freaking trouble magnet!" Priyanka thought.

(A/N: Connie has finally arrived everyone. I do want to explain the dynamic as it will be similar and different to canon. They'll be friends, of course. The twists I give to Connie's character was a bit to make her into a more overt otaku for humorous potential later on and a bit of a reference to all the great One Piece/Steven Universe crossovers. In this case, Connie does have a covert case of perversion given that their older in this AU and…she definitely would be a doujin reader.)
