Chapter 4

Episode 4-!

"I wish she never would have come back!" Sam said, as they stood in front of the pyre that held their mother's body.

Dean looked at his brother. He could almost understand the sentiment. As hard as it had been to grow up without her. Knowing her as an adult and having to bury her again hurt like hell.

Sam looked at his brother, very surprised, when he was slow to speak.

"It gave me some more good memories." Dean said, not taking his eyes off the fire. He didn't want Sam to see how very hard he was crying.

"All mine end in death." Sam said, shaking his head. "They begin and end in death." He didn't bother to wipe his tears.

After a few minutes Sam slowly turned and walked to the car. He pulled the door open and got in. He sat for awhile staring at the flames.

Dean joined him in the car.

Sam shook his head again. "It's not supposed to be this way. It's not supposed to end this way."

Dean sighed, but he waited for his brother to speak, to explain himself.

"Mothers are not supposed to die when their children are only 6 months old. They are not supposed to get second chances to meet their grown children, years later. They are not supposed to die, AGAIN. So that their children have to experience their death a second time, when they are old enough to know what it means and know how absolutely horrible it must have been the first time."

"What do you want me to say, Sammie?"

Sam looked at his brother. "Nothing, Dean." He shook his and wiped his eyes. "There is nothing you could say. There is nothing to say."

"Let's go home, Sam." Dean said as he started the car.

Sam nodded, keeping his eyes straight ahead.

More To Come!
