A family Life

Chapter 26

(In Scott's Point A View)

I made my way into the sickbay so I could chat with Lisa I knew that we need to talk, and I am just grateful for the second chance. I didn't know what I was going to say to Lisa, but I know that she needs the support to get through this. "Hey Lisa."

"Hey Scott, look I am sorry, but I need to go back home for a few days after I recover from this."

"So, you're not blaming me for all this then?"

"No Scott not at all, just because I had a miscarriage it won't stop me from loving you. I really just need the break it has nothing to do with you I swear."

"I don't know what I would have done if I had lost you Lisa, I got this second chance and I want to take that and be with you."

"You do?"

"Yes, I know this isn't the best of timing, but I want to ask you to marry me." I said while taking my hand in hers.

"I will think about it, I just need to get my head around everything that is going on here. I'm sorry Scott it's just the way that I am feeling right now."

"Lisa you are going to be fine, if you need a bit of space to sort things out in your head then a completely understand. You are the best thing that has happened to me in a long time. So, I will give you the space you need."

"Thank you, Scott."

"I'll go and let you rest; you know where I am if you need to talk some more." I said while giving Lisa a kiss before I left her to rest. Now that I knew when Lisa was leaving, I wanted to try and plan something for Lisa. If I wanted to ask her to marry me then I have got about 24 hours to do it. I decided to meet Virgil down at TB2's hanger to see if I could get any advice from him on how I should be doing this.

"Hey Scott, is everything okay?"

"Everything is fine Virg, but Lisa says that she still wants to go home. She says that she will stay on the island for a couple of more days."

"And your nervous about asking Lisa to marry you?" asked Virgil with a smile

"I think I will be when the time comes, I won't let Dad take away my happiness now. It took me a while to get to where I am now and its not going to end here. I can't do that Virgil."

"So, when are you planning on doing it then?" said Virgil while putting his tools away. We had made our way to the round house. He knew that I wanted to ask him something.

"Hopefully in the next 24 hours, how did you manage it? You hadn't even been with Jo for about a week. When you decided that you wanted to be with her, how did you feel leading up to it?"

"Honestly, I had been avoiding Jo all day till that evening, it helps a lot when you put Robyn to bed for us. If you want my advice just take your time with planning what you are going to do, if it doesn't happen in the next 24 hours then you have more time to plan it. Just give it some thought."

"I guess you are right Virgil, it doesn't seem like two years since Jo and Robyn came into your life and look where you are now with four amazing kids.

"I have to admit the babies are hard work but I wouldn't have it another way, I am just off the phone to Chicago Med to ask them about Rebecca's hearing, Dr Manning told me that she would ring me with an appointment for her to get her checked."

"What is wrong with Rebecca?"

"We think that she could be deaf, she never seems to cry when Joshua and Scotty do, and we have to wake her for her feeds every time. We got Lisa to look her over and she told us to take her to the mainland."

"And you had no problems with Joshua?"

"Not at all Scott, he seems to be doing well and thanks for taking Robyn for us. That has helped us a lot and is doing so much better. We are thinking of taking Robyn with us when Rebecca goes to get her hearing aids fitted. We are going to get Robyn to start playing with her, at least now she is coming round to the idea of being a big sister now."

"What about her home schooling? Alan told me that he started he had started Robyn on her reading."

"Yeah Alan has told us that he wanted to spend more time with her, so I told Alan that he could take her for reading. She seems to be enjoying the time with Alan, Alan may not see it, but he is a natural with her and I am so glad to see that bonding starting to take shape now. It has token him a while, but he did get there in the end."

"He will get there Virgil, at least he is spending time with her now and that's a good thing. Who else have you got in mind for teaching?"

"You for writing, Alan for reading, Gordon for swimming and everyone else for other things. Dad thinks it will be impossible to get her lessons done due to IR. I told Dad that we weren't putting Robyn into a boarding school, Dad may have done that to Alan but it's not happening to Robyn." Just then Virgil's phone goes off.

"Hey Virgil Tracy speaking."

"Hello Mr Tracy, its Doctor Manning here just getting back to you about an appointment for Rebecca. How does three days' time suit you?"

"Yeah that is fine at what time?"

"Say about late afternoon, depending on what we find we could have Rebecca fitted with hearing aids the same day."

"No that is fine Doctor Manning we will be there and thank you, goodbye."

"Is everything okay Virg?" I asked with a smile matching my younger brothers.

"That was Doctor Manning on the phone to tell me that she has made an appointment for Rebecca, she might get her hearing aids fitted the same day."

"That was quick." Said Jo who walked back into the round house and picked up Rebecca for feeding. While Virgil picked up Scotty. Scott why don't you take Joshua for us? So that we can get the feedings over and done with."

"Jo are you not breast feeding anymore?"

"Yes, I still am but my milk is now going into bottles, at least now I can get help with these feedings. Things are sorted now and on track, we are grateful for you taking Robyn. She seems a lot happier now and we are doing giving her some bonding time with the babies."

"That's great news guys, once I told her a few stories then she did come round to talking. I am glad that she is settled now, see I told you both that she will be fine." I said to Virgil and Jo with a smile.

"Jo I am going to go up and see Dad about Rebecca's appointment, we really need to be leaving tomorrow. At least we can leave with Lisa so that means Tin-Tin won't need to fly her back home."

"That is fine Virgil now that the babies are back down, I want to go and spend some time with Robyn."

"No problem Jo, I won't be too long." Said Virgil who pulled his wife into a kiss. So, we made our way down to see Dad in the lounge. I wanted to stay with Virgil to back him up."

"Hey Dad, I just got a phone call from Chicago Med to let me know that they have an appointment for Rebecca so we can get her hearing checked out."

"I didn't know that you had hearing problems with Rebecca, why didn't any of you say anything?"

"Its been going on a few weeks now, we only just discovered it. Her appointment is in three days' time, they said that she could get the hearing aids that same afternoon. We will be taking Robyn with us because we have an important job for her to do."

"Are you thinking of leaving Joshua and Scotty here then?"

"Yes, we will be, I am going to ask if Alan and Tin-Tin would take them for us for a few hours."

"Virgil is Jo not breast feeding?"

"She is but it's all transferred into bottles now, we have put feeding schedules on the fridge in the round house." Just as Virgil is speaking to Dad, Alan and Tin-Tin walk into the lounge looking as if they have walked in on something.

"Okay what is going on here? We walk in and you all go quiet on us." Said Alan.

"Alan I just wanted to ask you if you could have both Joshua and Scotty for us? We need to take Rebecca to the mainland to get her hearing sorted."

"Of course, we will Virgil when do you want us up at the round house?" asked Tin-Tin

"We will be leaving first thing in the morning and Robyn will be coming with us, we will be about 48 hours then we will be back here."

"That's fine Virgil if we can't manage then there is plenty of people to help us, If I am honest, we haven't really looked after Scotty before."

"Trust me Alan he is a very easy baby to look after, so you shouldn't have any problems with Scotty and Joshua."

"Okay we will see you both in the morning."

"Thanks Alan and Tin-Tin." I said after Virgil had left the lounge, he went back up to Jo happy now that he had his babies sorted.
