Something Interesting
Arc 2
Chapter 1: Shadow Interlude
Shirai, he is a member of the dark. Regulas had helped him acquire power by embracing his darkness and harnessing its destructive power. In return all he needed to do was remain loyal and assist Regulas in acquiring power. Shirai was uncertain of why Regulas required so much power. The only goal Regulas had ever told Shirai about was wanting to return to the real world, never anything more. He never mentioned if there was a possible way to return to the real world or how he plans to go about doing so. So like any typical villain, Regulas wanted power. Shirai didn't like it. Regulas didn't seem like the power hungry type. If he was, he hid it very well. Shirai had been with Regulas for almost 3 years and in that time, Regulas was really helpful to him and all of the other people who were loyal to him. Shirai had believed it to be the reason why Regulas' underlings were so loyal to him.
Shirai did notice that disloyalty was something Regulas despised. if ever Regulas was betrayed, he would have the person captured alive and brought to him. Shirai had been given this task a number of times, it was actually something he preferred over the other dirty tasks that Regulas provides. Regulas had told Shirai that darkness is fueled by the negative emotions of others and he has members all over the Elemental Nations that wreak havoc and despair from the shadows to collect this negative energy and store them in dark spheres. Needless to say, Shirai preferred capturing traitors over bringing about havoc and despair. What Regulas did to these traitors, no one knows, they disappear as if they were never there. No trace left behind.
Shirai sits in his dimly lit room wearing a black hooded cloak which hides his features. He thinks about the past the future. Arcana, Aqua, Shizuka, Shin, Touka, Daisuke, Naruto and the Leaf village. He had left them all behind. Avoiding detection was easy as Regulas' hideout is veiled and hidden by darkness, as such no one ever found Shirai. He had to admit that the promise of power was indeed intriguing and he had definitely gotten much stronger since he joined Regulas. Solitude in exchange for power. Darkness... it's like a drug, once you get a taste it is hard to not become addicted and want more power.
Suddenly the door to Shirai's room opens and someone enters.
"Mika, ever heard of knocking?" Shirai says in a dry tone, noticing the silver haired girl. She also wears a black hooded cloak but without the hood covering her head. She smiles at him and stares into his dark brown eyes with her light blue ones.
"Sorry, waiting is soooo boring." She complains. Shirai was a bit amused. Mika was a member of the Dark Emissaries but she was so casual and childlike around her allies. Shirai believed that she considered everyone who works for Regulas as family. She was quite nasty to those she considered enemies however. Then again from what Shirai had heard most of the people who work for Regulas had tough lives, perhaps it was the pain that made the darkness accept them. Shirai was not sure how Regulas gives others the power of darkness but Regulas has told him that darkness doesn't accept everyone. If this happened the darkness would consume them and ultimately they would die.
"Well then don't be surprised the next time I teleport into your room unannounced." Shirai replies, amusement evident in his voice.
He didn't want to become to close with the Dark Emissaries but Mika was quite persistent. He had steered clear of the rest of them. The only ones he knew were the ones who helped him save Daisuke. Taro, was cocky and annoying, Shirai ignored him often. Renji the powerhouse never really spoke much to Shirai unless it was needed. Senzo was an arrogant prick and Shirai disliked him the most, he was strong though, Shirai would give him due credit there. Everyone else he didn't know since they all wore the same black hooded cloaks. Shirai was fine with that, he didn't care much for them but Mika was an exception. She wasn't like the rest of them and since she didn't really give him much reason to dislike her, his friendly nature had gotten the best of of him.
"Hey! A woman needs her privacy, you can't just barge in unattended!" She complains.
"Didn't you just do that?" Shirai deadspans. Her smile widens and it looks like she is about to give a witty reply but Shirai decides to nip it in the bud.
"Anyway, was there something you needed?" He asks more seriously.
"Oh yes! Master Regulas asked me to come. He is looking for you." She said as she had forgotten the reason she came to him in the first place.
"He could have just used Telepathy..." Shirai mumbles.
'He must think he's really funny, sending her to bother me.' Shirai thinks annoyed.
"Thanks Mika." Shirai says and then teleports away leaving the girl before she could reply.
"Hey Shirai!"
With Regulas.
Regulas was sitting in a chair as if he were a king in a throne. he sits in a hall which is dimly lit. behind Regulas is a vast pool of darkness. Suddenly Shirai teleported before him. Regulas also wears a black hooded cloak. only difference is that the one he wears is a darker shade of black compared to everyone else. In all of Shirai's time with Regulas, he has never seen his face.
"What do you want Regulas?" Shirai asks getting to the point.
"I have a job for you." Regulas says getting down to business as well.
"What is it?" Shirai asks.
Regulas then stands up, "As you know, the dark spheres containing the negative emotions we used to boost our power is quite... addictive. I believe that one of my followers is keeping them for his own reasons. I want you to go to him and make sure he is still loyal to me. I have told him I will be sending you so you may use the direct approach if you want."
"Fine, I was getting bored in this place anyway. Where would I find him?"
"A local village in the land of Wind in the desert."
"I see..." and with that Shirai teleported back to his room.
"Ahhhh! Shirai, you shouldn't startle people like that!" Mika said still in his room. He had given her a bit of a scare.
"You realize this is my room right?" he asks while gathering some empty dark spheres.
"Hey! Are you going to on a mission?" Mika asks watching him.
After a moment Shirai replies, "Yes... to the land of Wind."
"Oh, you are going to Hisuke." She says with a bit of distaste in her voice.
"Sounds like you not too fond of this guy." Kurai said, a bit surpised... he only heard her voice distaste for people who weren't affiliated with Regulas.
"He gives me the creeps is all..." she replies.
"I say, well then I'll be off, don't turn my room upside down." But as he turned to leave she went in front of him.
"Wait Shirai-Kun! Take me with you!"
"I prefer working alone." He says turning her down making her puff her cheeks.
"Pleeeeeeaaaaase Shirai-Kun, I know the where to find Hisuke. So you need me." She pleads
'Well that would make things easier.' Shirai mused considering the idea.
She then grabs his hands breaking him from his thoughts, "And I be by your side and protect you Shirai-Kun!" she says with a big smile on her face.
"Fine but we leave now."
"Yaaaaaaay!" she beams and hugs him, catching him off guard.
And with that the two disappear with a swirl of darkness.
