I will inform that I was on a bit of a hiatus. Family life tends to do that. For those that have stay with this story I truly, truly thank you. For those new to the story I hope you have enjoyed it thus far. Without further ado I give thee this Long, Long-awaited chapter.
I must also apologize about the shortness of this chapter. I wanted to get something out.
EDITED : 4/22/2021 (For the next three chapters I will be doing a large reformate of them. So expect major changes. I did like how it was going but after having to deal with block, after block, after block I decided to go back a few chapters to change certain things. So those that have read them know that I WILL be changing First Aid from being a sparkmate to be just a good friend for her. Know that because of that I hope you will like what happens a little after.)
Alan Walker – The Darkside
We're not in love
We share no stories
Just something in your eyes
Don't be afraid
The shadows know me
Let's leave the world behind
Take me through the night
Fall into the dark side
We don't need the light
We'll live on
I see it, let's feel it
While we're still young and fearless
Let go of the light
Fall into the dark side
Fall into the dark side
Give into the dark side
Let go of the light
Fall into the dark side the dark side
Seventy Vorns Later
Vorns had passed since that horrendous day with the youngling. Being a medic as long as Siren had been, the vorns taught her much about herself and how to handle the harder to deal with cycles. She also knew that without First Aid being who he was during those trying times that she would have found herself falling into despair. It was something both found they could lean on each other when times became too tough to do alone. Along with Wheeljack, First Aid had become a very dear mech to her
The war had become harsher as well. Not a cycle went by that bots did not pour into the med bay seeking help. It left many of the medical bots in need of quick recharges to handle the influx of needed attention. Many had to forgo cleaning dried on layers of engeron just to be able to move onto the next patient that sought them out. It was during one of her down times that she came upon First Aid sitting against the far wall.
It was hard not to hear the hiccups his vents gave and the smell of his tears flowing freely. Without thinking Siren rushed over to the mech she held dear to her spark and forced her way into his lap. First Aid not needing any words clung to her with limbs encircling her frame to his. She buried her helm into the crook of his neck cables giving tiny whines.
This has not been the first time to find her friend in a stage of despair. It had become a norm within for bots to have episodes of complete breakdowns over what has been happening and the helplessness many felt every time a bot passed onto the Matrix. Siren has had many herself over the course of the war that she was now a part of. Pulling back some she looked at him having felt him slowly loosen his grip on her frame and his vents having calmed slightly.
Visor was gone along with his face plate exposing her to what he looked like. To be honest, it surprised her to be seeing so much of his face for the first time. His bright blue optic stared into her amber ones. She could see the pain, the sadness, the exhaustion that was held within those optics that was sure mirrors of what hers were showing. Siren gave a low whine worried for her long-time friend before leaning in to nuzzle his cheek plates with the tip of her nose.
His lips twitched in appreciation. "Thank you, Siren. I needed that." Siren shifted back some for the two of them to look at each other even though she still sat in his lap. She could still see the tears shimmering down from his optics feeling his servo gently smooth over her neck and chest plating to right side of her. The feeling of pain entered her spark at the sight she was seeing. It hurt to see him this low to see so many come to such lows. How the war was weighting down on them all. That it was affecting everybot with fear and panic knowing only so many places where safe anymore.
Optics roamed over his face taking in every detail of it. Even with the vorns of being his roommate and the times she curled up to him at his side when it had become too much, she had never seen what lay under. With no words being able to be spoken she looked to First Aid seeing the leaks still present. Pain sliced her spark again knowing she could not help more for this mech with words that could be spoken.
A whine came forth as she leaned in to gently lick the stains of his tears while cleaning up the fresh ones that spilled over at the action. First Aid griped onto her neck plating as he pulled her more into his embrace needing the closeness she was willing to give him. With lids closed tightly in the pain her spark was feeling for this mech, her dear friend.
Time seemed to have slowed for the two. Nether wanting to move in the solace Siren provided First Aid. Only they knew soon they would have to get back up and return to their duties. They both knew it was time to relieve another bot and so First Aid released Siren. "We should get back." He stated as visor and face plate shifted back into place. Siren gave a nod moving to allow the mech to get up. She stood by his side keeping her optics trained on him. First Aid glanced to her inclining his helm in thanks as he left the area. Siren stood there watching him go in worry feeling her finials shift in a slight droop.
It wasn't just her finials that drooped kliks later but her whole frame having pushed past her limit of no recharge in cycles. With a vent of air, she forced her pedes to shuffle slowly to the same spot First Aid had just sat at to lay down. It didn't matter if she was comfortable or not laying there, Siren was beyond the point of caring. She just wanted the darkness that recharge gave her. Just long enough so no thoughts of this forsaken war could disturb her. Siren stared at anything and truly nothing as her frame went slack. Slowly lids closed over optics and bliss of nothing came to her.
Joors later, Siren found her pedes taking her to home. Keeping stride for stride with First Aid leaving extraordinarily little between them as plating brush against the other. They had all finally found a break in bots pouring into the med bay. Knowing they could have another flux hit them at any time, Ratchet had ordered all to return home to gather as much strength with rest before hell came again.
Siren watch the mech all but thump into the couch. He bent over letting his servos hold his helm with his elbow leaning into the top of his knee struts. His whole frame was slumped as he sat there. Softly and slowly, Siren shifted over to the mech gently nudging into his servo. Feeling her prodding he did as she asked lowering them to let her see him.
Amber optic searched over his covered face. Wanting to comfort him but not really knowing how without servos to do so. For vorns she grew to trust this mech, grew to call him a dear friend of hers along with many others over the time period. Yet, this mech meant more to her much like Heavyglide and Kickboom had once been. Primus, she had come to love him deeply as her friend. It also came with an underlining of fear for the pain she would feel again if she lost another bot she loved.
The blue light of his visor never left her optics having seen the look of fear hit them. That was then he found her backing up away from him in utter shock and fear. Concern hit him at her behavior. "Siren?" at her name a whine came as her optics pleaded with his. Pleading for what he did not know. "Siren, what is wrong?"
If she had been gifted with the ability to actually cry, Siren knew she would have done so. First Aid was left to wonder what the matter was with his beasty friend as she continued to back away from him. Hurt entered his spark when she looked away from him to turn around heading to her berthroom.
"Wait!" he called out making her freeze but didn't look back. Some force made First Aid quickly move to kneel in front of the vixen. This time he searched into her optics, having to at a point take on either side of her helm to hold it in place. Fear. "What are you afraid of Siren?"
It was of losing you like she had with the others. Could she go through that again? Silence stood pronounce between the two as no answer came, yet First Aid knew such an answer would not come about. The visor and plate that covered his face slide away letting Siren see him fully again.
Much had happened all these vorns since finding her near dead. So many vorns had passed between them as they shared much of their times together. All full of tender comfort towards each other and caring. He had lost count of the times he searched for this vixen just to be near her, to feel the calm that came to his spark of her familiarity.
His servos moved to surround her. A thought came to him to at least let this give her an idea of what she has come to mean and be to him. Soon Siren pulled back from him taking a few steps back gazing into his optics. "Siren, I need you to know this." First Aid started making her stop in her step of backing. "I have known you for vorns. So many vorns that I grew to understand as much as a bot can gain from another. Whatever it is that you fear, please know I will be there for you." His optics searched her. "If you ever need a bot to be there to listen, or read what you type, I will be that friend you can rely on. Okay?"
Siren could only sit back onto her back strut at his words. What came next held her stunned and in awe about what her friend was about to do. Plating shifted slowly with hints of clicks of gears and locks coming undone. Light spilled through until the protective plating fully extended to expose the spark from within. Awe lit her optics at the sight that was being offered. She was being given the pure form of who this mech is.
With a quick glance up at the mech's optics a decision was made as she shifted closer to the mech. Feeling the heat of his spark she too made her plating shift and unlock as her spark's light spilled out. Both explored the forms of the sparks that danced within their holdings. What seemed joors having past was only breems before the two deemed it was time to enclose their sparks.
First Aid felt as if a weight had vanished now knowing what each meant to the other. Of the level of trust, he had gained from her and she of him over these long vorns. "We should get some recharge. It's been a long shift these cycles."
Siren shifted to stand on her four pedes watching as the mech stood up to enter his berthroom. Standing there she felt the need to stay near him, to be beside him. It led her to following him to lay beside him on her side. If it surprised the mech, he made no show of it but moved to enclose her within his arms. As he curled himself around her frame, she nuzzled tenderly at the wrist of his servo. Nether made to move taking the comfort of the closeness they held. Of the deep friendship they both held close to their sparks.
Hopefully, you enjoyed this. Between this story and another I have begun to work on again I can get a few more out within a timely fashion.
Once again I am truly grateful to all that stayed with this story and the time it took to get another chapter out after two years. For all those that have favorited and reviewed thank you!
