Chapter 38

She walked hastily to the side den. Man, this morning the journey didn't seem that long. But now, it felt like Nala had been traveling for miles and she was nowhere near close!

"Ugh…what the heck…this wasn't that far this morning." She continued to walk, with the beam beaming down her back and sweat collecting on her forehead. " I have to be close." And she was close, so close to the place she had called home for almost a here. But when she got there, it didn't fee like home.

It felt weird. It looked like home…but something rang in the back of her head, that it didn't feel like home. Not anymore.

Nala approached the Side den cautiously. Couching low to ground, she couldn't be too careful. As she got closer, she realized no one was around.

She came out of hiding.

Nala ran towards the den. Going inside. She saw nothing…no one. It wasn't like the thought hadn't occurred to her. She knew the odds of actually running into one of her pride-mothers was slim. However, Nala had just hoped that by some chance in nature she would.

"Great, you came all the way out here for nothing Nala-huh?" Something moved a nearby brush.

"H-help..me.." as soon as she heard the voice Nala ran into action. Fear ran in the back of her mind of who belong to that sad sounding voice. It could be anyone, her Simba…Sarabi…her own mother even.

"I'm here to help you, were are- oh my kings…" the sight before her was nothing Nala had ever seen. Just beyond the thicket Of shrubs and brushes was a slaughter pile of all grey and black spotted dogs.

Their bodied soiled the ground everywhere. Turning the earth behind them a tainted dark red.

"…y…y.you help me.." just to her right, a hyena with both hind legs broken. Drug himself hopelessly towards her. His body was maned and torn to bits. His lip was busted open and his ear torn. His hunched back, coated with deep gashing, life altering scars. To Nala horrified eyes, if she looked alittle closer she could see the creatures spine peaking though the open flesh. "H..help"

"Stay back…don't come any closer!"

The near dead dog had nothing to lose, he inched himself closer and closer, loosing parts of his own flesh in the process. He was trying to find any sort of remaining comfort for his last moments on earth. "P-please…"

"I said stay back!" Nala stood paralyzed as blood followed behind him. How could such a creature have soo much blood in him….just pools and pools of it.

The Red river didn't seem to stop. Everywhere her eyes looked they connect one flowing red steam to another…and another. Until it was like…she was stuck in a sea of red. With pools of dying or dead bodies floating next to her. It horrified her.

So frozen with grief and fear she hadn't realized the dog had made his journey successfully to her. Her body immediately flinched feeling the heavy mass on her paw.

"Ahhh!" She feverishly flung the dog away from her. His body went limp now. Her sudden violently rushed movement to get the dog away from her resulted in a swift snap to the neck. As her paw collided with the underside of his chin. His pain was over his nightmare was over. Hers was just beginning…

Utterly shocked Nala quickly turned tail. Not caring at all if she was seen or heard, she had to get away from that nightmare. Everything around her was dead, and she had the unwavering feeling that she would be too if she stayed around long enough.

Sarabi was right, she wasn't ready for this…she wasn't ready for any of this. "Stupid! I'm so stupid!" thought Nala as she ran back to the deserted area that would now be her home. Where she could find some solance and protection from the reality of the cruel world.

Now it was just the two of them. Mother and son, catch in a merciless battle. Sarabi had feared this moment would come.

"Mom, you have to stop this, now before its too late!" She slowly shook her head.

"It's already too late Simba."

"W-why…why did you do this?! D…do you not care what Scar will do to do now?!" Simba was on the Greg of frustrated tears. Why would his mother, the queen. Be so stupid! What would be the point of fighting a meaningless battle- they are bound to lose! "..i don't understand…I know things are bad but."

"It's okay." He looked to his mother, who oddly enough had a sweet almost smiling expresision that could be read from her red orbs. " you're still too young to understand, and that's fine."

"No it's not! This is NOT fine-help me understand why in the hell you would do this?! Why would you risk it all!"

"Because, I would rather stand and fight in battle- even if I am going to lose. I will not let this fate control me. Nor you."

"Everything is fine mom! And now, you've just messed up everything- don't you see! Can you imagine what Scar will do to you now that this has happened."

"Dear, there is nothing Scar can do that can scare me now. And I want it to be the same for you-"

"I'm NOT scared!" Please, of course he was. And like the old saying goes, a hit dog will holler. Sarabi knew her son was scared, and still confused about the world himself. Especially with Scar as his teacher…there's no telling how his lesson impacted Simba.

" There are only two things in the world that can cause a lion to do crazy things. Love and fear. I chose this path out of love. Love For myself, love for my pride, love for our land love you and you brother..but…you will choose out of fear of him."

"No I won't!" He quickly retorted, "I'm choosing the right path, why would I waste all my time and effort in fighting soemthing I can't beat! It's foolish…" but sarabi knowing better shook her head in disagreement. It was written all over his face. "Y-you don't know what you're talking about!" Despite the shouting of her son, and roaring of the gathering hyenas and lions in the distance. Sarabi remained calm. And talked to her son with such ease…her being able to feel so comfortable in this situation. made simba uncomfortable.

"Son, I'm your mother. Of course I do." Simba watched tentatively as his mother took a step forward. "You will try to stop me, because you fear the outcome….and to be honest. Whatever the outcome maybe, whether it is good or bad, this is something that needed to be done."

"I'm not going to try to stop you, I WILL stop you. You're making a huge mistake!"

"…as are you son, and I only wish you were able to see it sooner." She readied herself. Couching low to the earth and standing her ground. It was a challenge. However simba quickly backpedal, he…he couldn't fight his own mom.

Sarabi didn't give him a choice. Right now, he was the enemy. If he wasn't siding with her…then he was against her. She attacked him head on.

Simba quickly dodged to avoid a hard blow. "Mom no- mom stop!". the fast words that spilled out of his mouth, was nothing compared to the fast blows Sarabi was throwing. Right then left…left then right…up…no! now she was down! And coming from below… or was it the side?!

The orange lions red eyes darted frantically with the smaller lioness, desperately trying to keep up. He would block her…he would doge her…but he could never strike her. And even if he could…even if his life depending on it to do so- he wouldn't be able to touch her. Sarabi was too fast. Small and fast.

That's all she needed to be. Experience had taught Sarabi that, you didn't need to be the biggest, or the strongest to be the baddest. She would easily knock her own son down just by the bulkiness of his own weight.

That was exactly what she did, with one move. A double back and a leap forward. She purposely collided, head on with her son, which to the naked eye looked crazy. And even crazy more, because this moved always worked. Yes, it took the hell out of her to do so, but it always hurt more to the lion on the other side.

Mufasa himself would easily be beaten by this move, time and time again. Sarabi stood still for a moment, gathering herself again from her brains rapid movement. She looked to her son, who was laying back down on the ground. The force from her froward running blow, plus with his own added weight…the final contact to the ground knocked the breath right out of him.

She watched as his paws gripped desperately at the ground to gather air. Now, was her last time to say goodbye to him.

"Simba…"

"….m…mom.." he could hardly get a word out of his hurting lungs.

"Leave."...what? " leave and forget this place. You cannot let Scars evil grip keep a hold on you…you must leave before it is too late...before I can no longer protect you." Sarabi failed to fight back the tears that spilled from her eyes. Simba could see…no feel the pain himself of what his mother was going though " you will Run…and you will NEVER return."

"..b..bu" he was stunned, to shocked to even know what to say. How…how could he leave his home…leave her?! No this was crazy…mad even! No lion abandons his kingdom! There was no way he would do it, he couldn't listen to her now. " mo-mom no-" he was silenced by the warmth of her nuzzle. The only kind a mother could give… a grieving mother could give. "…mom i…"

"….no matter what choice you choose, just know this…I'm your mother and I will love you always."

Before he could open his mouth, before he could think of the words to say. She was gone. Going in the direction of pride rock.

*Rated M, if you don't want to read this i understand and will see you in the next update.*

The fear of what she saw back a the side den, still horrified her. The images still playing in the back of her mind. The smell, the destruction the sight of death. Played in the back of her head. The poor hyena she had killed….which she didn't mean to. Even if they were the enemy- still, she didn't mean to do what she did. She was simply scared.

Nala didn't stop running until she reached her destination and nearly collapsed on the ground from pure exhaustion.

She panted heavily as she let dry air enter her burning lungs. The blue eyed lioness hated herself for running the entire way. Her paws were killing her and the still burning heat was not helping her at all.

After taking a few moment to herself. She slowly got up and made her way to the still sleeping Kopa. His peaceful expression put her mind as ease as soon as she saw him, and his innocence.

She watched as his little nose wiggled instinctively as the scent of a familiar family member blew in the air around him. Nala knew for sure he'd be up and crying for food soon. Great, well that would be something for future Nala to worry about. This Nala right now needed a nap and the safe return of her pride.

Suddenly, the air upwind carried a new scent from behind her. For a second she was puzzled, what was she smelling…who was she smelling?

"Where is he?" Her heart stopped and her head turned with a fast snap to see a very large lion stalking towards her. Nuka.

Nala instantly went on the defensive. "Nuka?...what are you doing here?"

"where is he?!" His voice was louder than the first. As he continued to come forward Nala could instantly see something was off with the brown lion… she couldn't put her paw on it, but she knew this wasn't the normal Nuka she was looking at. That was for sure. And this lion that was before her now, clearly sweaty from the intense heat and his fast walking…plus the crazed look in his eye. Made her extremely uncomfortable. She would have to play it cool. She could not let him get to Kopa by any means.

"I don't know what you're talking about-"

"Don't play dumbs with me! I know you know who I am talking about." A nervous sensation ran down her spine as she watched the unabashed anger could be seen almost….sparkling in his eye. "Where's that little spawn!"

How in the hell did he find her? Did he follow her the whole time, and she had no idea…was she too busy scared running that she didn't noticed she was being followed the whole time.

"I don't know, he's not here." She continued to walk a forward, inch by inch. Any space she could make between the two males could mean the difference between life and death.

" please, I'm having a real hard time believing that. He wasn't at the side den- none of you were." So…he did follow her…and she stupidly brought him here…" so that means that little shit has to be here with you. So let me see him-"

"No." There was no point in playing dumb now. "Look I don't know what you're doing here, but you need to turn back now. The pride will be back anytime now and you'll be in serious trouble."

"Please, you guys don't scare me. And I'll leave as soon as I am done with my visit. Now stand aside-"

"No!" She stood her ground, baring her teeth. The fur o the back of her spine- no her entire body stood up. She was about to enter the fight of her life. For another life.and she would willingly give hers to save him, there was no doubt about it. "I'm not going anywhere, you'll have to kill me first!"

A coy smile crept onto the males face.

"Fine by me, I'm sure ill have fun while I rip you limb from limb… and then the little furball is next!" That did it, that tipped her over the edge how DARE HE!

Nukas smile only grew wider as Nala came running full speed in her attack. The battle was on.

The two tackled each other with equal force as they both slammed into the ground. It seemed to be a spar of equal strength. For Nuka was on top, then Nala and then Nuka again. When had Nuka become so…strong?!

Nala knew her bites and blows was causing serious blows to the males body. She could feel it herself, as she dug her claws into his thick fur. She could see whenever she inflicted pain on him. However, his blows were doing just the same. Every hit, every smack, every bite felt beyond devastating. The impact her body was taking was something Nala had never experienced in her life.

Nothing with her small training she had done, had prepared her for this-How could it. She was never fighting for her life…for someone else life before. She didn't have to push herself to her limit. But now…she did.

The air left her lungs fast as Nuka had again tackled her to the ground. The weight of his body on top of her, crushed her. It was hard to breath and even harder to see with his black matted mane covering her buried face. "Arggh!!!" She roared in pain. she felt his hind claws from the back of his legs dig into her tender underbelly and inner thighs. Trying to force her hips apart, by literally trying to break them. His fighting was foul and dirty. " GET OFF!!"

The blue lioness took a mouthful of his mane, and with a full strong head yank, ripped the patch cleanly off. Detaching the fur from his skin. This caused Nuka to release his grip on her and to immediately cover this torn flesh. "YOU BITCH-". He staggered off of her.

Nala used this vital time to even the score. She got up, without thinking and quickly tackled Nuka to the ground, this time pinning him down behind her. Yet the lion was not done fighting. He still kicked and fought, even with the air being knocked out of his lungs, and the burning sensation with his newly ripped flesh.

But she was growing tired….she was passed exhaustion. Every muscle she moved felt like she was ripping it from her own socket. Yet she had to keep fight…keep pushing herself to her limit, even if it was killing her. But it wasn't easy…it was no easy at all. Nala feared she would soon reach her limit, despite trying her best- she would soon give out to exhaustion. Her body could only take so much…

She had to end this, and end it now! With a final reach, with a final extend of her open paw… with extended claws. Nala held Nuka pinned to the ground with her left arm as she used her right arm to make a devastating blow.

She drugged two claws down Nukas face. Feeling his skull, skin and eye underneath, as she drug her claws all the way down. Nukas scared face, now made his father scar look like kids play. The sight of what she had done had even shocked Nala herself.

She stood frozen over Nuka as he roared out in pain. "AARGHH YOU BITCH! MY EYE!!...MY EYE!!" His eye was gone. The blue eyed lioness stood horrified of the sight before her…all the blood, gushing from his missing eye- that she caused. Made her sick to her stomach. Nala almost felt like she was near collapsing by just looking at him. She horrified herself… but she was still horrified by him. And what he did next.

He laughed…the lion with his eye torn out, started to laugh. Nala was sure she was becoming delusional…there was no way in hell, the lion that was just screaming in agony was now…laughing…with a huge smile on his face. Something had ticked…and he had changed…was changing right before her eyes.

"…w…what…"

"HAHA!!...you bitch!! I'm…I'm going to kill you! Haha! but I'm going to make you watch while I kill him FIRST!"

"Wh-Aargh!!" Nala was flown 6 feet into the air by the force of of Nukas hind legs. When her body finally made contact with the ground, she could have sworn she heard- no felt three parts of her back break in two! She gasped for air, and fought for conciseness.

Nuka slowly got up. His right paw still covering his bleeding eye. But the smile never left his face. He looked like a crazed monster-he was a crazed monster. An awaken one.

When the mad prince felt that the blood around his closed eye was gone, and was clotting. he slowly removed his paw from were his eye used to be. Now there was a big black mass of nothing. He slowly turned his attention to the direction of were he knew the cub would. It wouldn't be hard to find him now, for the cub was wailing non-stop from the outside commotion. With a blood covered smile he stalked forward.

"Argh!!" He roared as he was stopped. Though his left eye he could barely see Nala, desperately trying to stop him. Barely able to stand fully on her paws she bit down on Nukas tail. Separating each and every small vertebrae in her mouth. She could taste his blood in her mouth, she was choking on it. But she still refused to let go. "You ANNOYANCE!" With a massively powerful swing, he smacked Nala with the back of his paw.

The force sent her flying back. Along with the part of Nuka tail that was still in her mouth. Nala felt her jaw disconnect from the smack of his blow, and then reconnect from her hard landing back to the ground.

Her face was numb, her body was numb, she was done.

Nuka stood there, frozen, breathing heavy. Then with a loud, and blood filled cry he roared out his pain and frustration. "AARGGHH!!!" He staggered were he stood. Wobbling back and forth. She had pushed him to his limits…beyond his limits. But there…he stood still standing strong. " LOOK FATHER!! MOTHER!! YOU SEE WHERE I AM NOW- WHAT I HAVE DONE NOW…it's all in the name for you…Y-YOU'RE PERICOUS AND ONLY SON!"

Nuka felt his spirit beam, he had never been so proud of himself, ever in his life. He had never proved anyone else wrong until now. Until this never moment. Things have been taken-stolen from him! He had been lied to…and cheated, talked about and forgotten! But no more…no more would Nuka get that unwanted treatment. He would get what he want! Though blood, because true kings, REAL kings always get what they want!

The sounds of the crying cub still echoed in he background. That was his final prize, this last destination. However, his attention could not be torn away from the fallen lioness that lay right before him. Just meters away. The lioness that had crushed his spirit and insulted his loving heart. The lioness- who just like everyone else-thought he was nothing. Nobody. He would show her.

The cub could wait.

Nuka fumbled over to Nala. Who was laying still on the ground , she was still-too still. She looked beaten and dead. Nuka went over and gently nuzzled the fallen lioness. She moaned almost inaudibly, her eyes struggled to blink themselves open- to stay open. She was half conscious, that would be enough.

Nala desperately tried to fight for her consciousness. Everything in her blurry eyesight was a mixture of black and blue. The world was spinning around her and nothing made sense. She was loosing the battle to remain sane. Then she felt a tightening grip on the back of her neck. The sudden force shot her fallen body back up to an upright low sitting position, as she felt a weight grow over her.

The inside of her head felt like it was bobbing up and down. It was a non ending feeling on constant motion sickness rattling inside of her head. She blinked hard twice, trying to gain awareness of what was happening. That's when she felt the first pain. The first pain was thrusted…no mercilessly forced into her with no warning.

The sensation shocked her system, and forced her back into full alertness.

The second pain was followed quickly, by the third and the fourth. Until the burning pain seemed to run continuously. Tearing her throughout her entire body. She tried to scream, she tried to pull away. But Nukas teeth sank into her neck so tight and so strong she was practically glued to him. It was too tight for her to even open her mouth. To protest…to fight back.

He needed to know that she did not willingly give up.

And even if he did, by some miracle of chance, release his death grip on her. Nala quickly felt the inside voice that was desperately screaming inside of her head, start to die down. Until the voice had died out.

Nala felt like her life was getting sucked from her, stolen from her. all she could do was make herself stay strong... and bare it. Going though the agonizing trauma alone.
