NALA
My vision stirred when I felt a ray of sunlight hit the top of my nose. My eyes blinked hard, trying to get adjusted to the daylight. Underneath me, I could still feel Roho's little body snuggled close. This cub was not a morning lion, and I could tell he was still deep into him own dreamland. I couldn't help but smile at his cute little face. So peaceful, and even after I had upset him, he still welcomed me home with open arms.
Then I remembered, " Simba?" I turned to the back corner of the den where he stayed last night. He was gone, just like he had said. I quickly got up, making sure not to wake Roho. I hoped he would be nearby, I have the feeling we really need to talk. Especially about last night, I couldn't help but feel something was very off with him.
When I got to the outside of the den I looked around, hoping my eyes would catch something moving. I tried to think of where he could be if he wasn't here. I'd bet he be by the river. But there was no way I could get there fast enough, he could be long gone by the time I reached where I think he could be. I figured I had nothing to lose.
I checked back one last time on the sleeping cub, still sound asleep good. I won't have to hurry and rush back to him. As I left something caught the corner of my eye, it moved silently int he brushes. it was headed this way, I knew it had to be him. Needing to talk to him, I rushed over to the moving brushes. "Simba-" but what met me in the clearing was not him. it was his mate..."Oh Kenya i..."
"I know, not who you were expecting right?"
"No, of course not. I just thought... I'm sorry." I couldn't even think of a reason for apologizing, I just found myself doing it. I know I had been messing things up for her and Simba bad lately. The last thing I need is for her to think I'm doing this on purpose. Especially being in her care and home.
"No. don't be." Her voice was short and to the point. she sounded nothing like the lioness I had met before. I know, she hated me...
"Is there something I can do for you?"
"Yes, there is. You're ding to tell me what going on between you and my mate."
"n-nothing i-"
" I don't believe you. This is the second time I've caught you to alone, together. I could smell your scent all over his fur last night and his on yours! I'm not stupid. I know something is going on behind my back, why else is he being so secretive with you."
"...Kenya I can promise you, nothing is going on between us. we're just-"
"friends, I know he told me. Best friend who grew up together, and then suddenly everything all fell apart between you two." she had a case on me. Crap, I know everything looks bad, but I don't know if there's anything I can do to convince her otherwise.
"...He's just helping out an old friend I promise-"
"I'm done with promises that don't match up with action!" though her voice was raised and brows were furrowed deeply at me. I could see water building up behind her eyes. " Simba's has always been secretive with me, but never like this. Everything was working out fine until you came...you came and now I feel like I don't even know him anymore. he's not acting like himself and I need to know why- and you Nala are my answer."
"He's just upset right now and-"
"If you don't tell me Nala, you and Roho are out of here. And I will make sure I send you BACK in the direction from which you came. and I swear to you I mean it, you will leave here even if I have to drag you out MYSELF." fuck. you have got me to kidding me...
"Kenya please-"
"I mean it, tell me everything you know. What is he hiding from me?" ... I felt like I was being put between a rock and a hard place. I can completely understand why she's acting the way she is I do-...but Simba business is not mine to tell. Especially the things he doesn't want her to know about...
"Maybe you should ask him-"
"He won't give me an honest answer. And I need to know what he's hiding from me...please."
"...Alright, I'll tell you." kings, I hope I won't have t regret this... " You're right...we were close. but that all changed once he left pride rock. we had no contact with each other, he just up and vanished."
"Why did you two get into a fight?"
"No...family issues, bad ones."
" things were getting really bad, between his mother her his uncle. So he left."
"Okay, so forward to now, Simba has this crazy idea that you're here to make him go back home? what the hell is that about..." make him go back home... then it hit me.
"... he probably thinks I'll ask him to go back to save us..." Him being king, the next king...honestly the only true king. He has a duty to us... "He's right...he has to go back to fix everything!"
"...wait what are you talking about?"
"Simba...he's going to fix everything, make it right again-"
"Nala! what the hell are you talking about...where is he going, why does he have to fix it?!" I saw confusion and frustration all over her face. Everything I was saying to her, probably made no sense. "what are you saying?"
"...I'm saying...Simba is a king...the pridelands king. And we need him to come home help us..."
"..w..what?!" Great kings do I have a lot to tell her, but I highly doubt she will be ready for it.
