Chapter Seventeen: Don't worry his fine folks!
"How do you know that I'm an orphan?" Lloyd blinked rapidly, staring at the woman, confusion creasing his brow. Glancing around the room some more, trying to ignore the lady, he noticed that there was no signs of his friends anywhere in the room. For that matter... he couldn't remember his friends visiting him the few times he woke up. "Where are the others?"
"Others?" The lady, who oddly enough looked very pained upon the mentioning of his status as an orphan, blinked in surprise as she stared at him.
Lloyd huffed at that, finally sitting the mug down on the side table. "Yeah. Stopping Darkley's isn't a one man job."
"Could have fooled me." A man that looked to be about the same age as the lady appeared in the doorway, sarcasm dripping from his voice.
Lloyd stared at the newcomer, before shaking his head and turning his attention back to the lady. "Where are they? Where's Jay, Cole, Zane, Scales, Kai and Nya?"
"What kind of name is Scales?" The man muttered under his breath, scoffing at the former Darkley's agent's name.
"Garmadon!" The lady whirled around, glaring at the man.
He quickly raised his hands in surrender, throwing a see what I have to deal with look towards Lloyd. Lloyd sniggered at that, before turning to face the lady. This time, he recognized her. "Oh! You're the hologram lady from the pen!" He mentally face slapped himself over that one. Hologram lady from the pen? What was he thinking!?
"My name is Misako. This is my husband, Garmadon." That definitely explained why he decided to surrender when she snapped at him.
"Look, Misako, Garmadon," Lloyd blinked upon noticing the way they both flinched at him using their names. "I really need to find my friends. We're not exactly people that you leave unattended, and I happen to be the one that keeps everyone from biting too much off when facing down Darkley's."
"What do you mean by that? About being left unattended?" Misako drew her brows together in confusion.
~Poor Scales... I mean Friends!~
Scales peered cautiously out from under the table, just to make sure that he was alone for once... a rather loud explosion coming near the stove told him quickly to hide. A groan escaped him as he listened to the pounding feet and the very loud holler of Zane, followed by the explanation that due to the fact that Cole was cooking Kai purposely caught the stove on fire, again.
"Kai!" And there was Cole heaving the sturdy, heavy couch up as if it weighed nothing and shaking it at the other teen.
Who responded by catching himself on fire, just as Jay returned with Zane. Zane didn't blink an eye as he quickly froze the stove. "There... now the fire is out and Cole can't cook."
"Hey!"
"Crisis averted... or not. Kai, Cole... why do you two look like your about to..." Jay flinched as the two teens in question tackled each other quite suddenly, a full blown brawl breaking out between the two. "Fight. I'm gonna go see if Nya needs help with locating Lloyd!" Jay then teleported out of the room via tapping into something that the others called his true potential. To Scales it looked like he turned into some sort of lightning monster, human hybrid...
~Back with Lloyd!~
"You...really don't want to know." Lloyd had no intention of getting all of them locked up in some laboratory.
"Very well. If you say so Montgomery." Garmadon placed a hand on Misako's arm, tugging her away from the slightly exhausted teen.
"The name's Lloyd."
Garmadon quickly shoved his wife out the door before she could respond to that, turning to face Lloyd. "About that. Our son, who has been missing for the past fifteen and a half years." He took a deep breath, his gaze... his gaze that by chance was a mirror image to Lloyd's own eyes, burned straight into his bright green eyes. "Montgomery would be the same age as you, around about, he also was born with a pretty unique birthmark on his left arm. So unless you can convince us that the mark that looks exactly like his birthmark, on your left arm in the exact same position as Montgomery's is just a tattoo... just think about it okay?"
He then left the room, snapping the door shut behind him so that he was once again alone. Lloyd blinked rapidly as he shifted through that mind bomb. The lady that has been sending agent after agent after him could easily be his mother. But... then how did Darkley's get a hold of him? Only one person had that answer...
And Lloyd certainly felt up to tracking an old friend down...
Scales sighed to himself as he chopped the vegetables, glad that everything for once appeared to be quiet in the old warehouse. He was just reaching for a freshly washed red pepper when a familiar voice spoke up somewhere behind him. "I know most people would be the quiet, but it always makes me more nervous with my friends."
Scales turned to find Lloyd leaning against the counter, watching him cook. "You have returned."
"Yeah." Lloyd took a deep breath, shifting slightly as he moved from standing to sitting at one of the barstools. "Scales. I need to ask you a question about how exactly you found me all those years ago..."
Scales sighed, he had a feeling that Lloyd would eventually ask him that question. It was only a matter of time. "I will endeavor to answer to the best of my abilities."
Lloyd raised one eyebrow upwards, confusion creasing his brow. "But you were the one that found me... you know all of the details."
Scales flinched at that, before adding in a, tiny detail, about that day Lloyd didn't know about. "No. A Darkley's agent that went by the name The Snatcher found you. I merely intervened before he could toss you into a river. Where and how he found you, I don't really know."
"So my past is still a mystery." Lloyd drew his brows together, clearly not impressed to hear that... just as the door opened and his friends walked back in.
"LLOYD!"
A/N: We have a review!
CopperHillsGrizzly2010: Of course it was Garmadon! While he wants it to be their son, he also wants to be more practical about the whole thing. Yeah... Lloyd doesn't like Garmadon's explanation. Hope you enjoyed this chapter!
