Chapter Nineteen: Racing to the End...

Lloyd dove to the side, a grunt escaping him as he barely avoided Derek's attack. "Thanks for the clue buddy! But I've got to go!" Lloyd sprang backwards, freefalling off of the crumbling roof of the ancient temple. Flipping over so that he landed feet first, he slammed into an unsuspecting Scales. "Come on. Where's the jet?"

"This way." Scales, shoved Lloyd off as he turned the key to start the old beat up jeep.

It didn't take long before they were loaded on the jet and it was taking off casually into the air. Kai had already pulled out and unrolled yet another map, which everyone minus Zane since he was still flying the jet were looking at. "Uh... looks like this one leads to the outskirts of that small village that you and your family were hiding in for some time there Z." Kai leaned back, his brow furrowing in thought.

Knowing that Kai thinking is a dangerous thing, Lloyd cleared his throat. "Let's get there before anyone else finds something there to tie it to Darkley's."

"Too..." "Don't say it Jay!" "Late."

Lloyd blew against his fingers as the icy wind bit into him. So far, there was no sign of Darkley's while Zane scuba dives in the large frozen pond that the map lead to. An explosion erupted on the far right side of the pond, signaling that Kai spotted the enemy. Grimacing, Lloyd moved to intervene and fight off whoever it was that they had sent to this location when Zane suddenly lunged out of the pond and grabbed Lloyd by the wrist, dragging him away from the fighting. "Let's go!"

"Seriously... I mean come on... that is so... first Gypsy Cove which can be connected to Lloyd's past... then some ancient Fire Temple that can be tied to the sibling's past... and then it was the village that Z spent most of his childhood in... and now we're headed to my favorite spelunking spot? What's next... the junkyard that Jay's parents own?" Cole flung his hands into the air, exasperation flooding his features.

Lloyd had taken over flying for Zane, allowing the teen to get a bite to eat and much needed sleep. "Never mind that... do you know of anything down there that might be the next clue?"

"Uh... just this really cool rock that someone carved the Darkley's symbol into."

"Do you remember how to find it?" Lloyd couldn't believe his luck. Trust Cole to notice that before he even knew Darkley's existed.

"Sure. I keep it in my back pocket for good luck." Cole pulled said rock out of his pocket.

Everyone turned to stare at him, eyebrows slowly inching upwards. Lloyd banged his head on the jet's steering, before asking him if it could open up or anything like that. Cole shrugged, before announcing that he's been using it to hold small items in for years now. "See?" He twisted the rock open, to reveal a small charm that he had bought a few years ago.

"Was there anything in it when you first opened it up?" Zane almost sounded like he wanted to strangle the strong teen.

Cole picked up the book on mountain climbing for dummies that he'd been reading. "Yeah, just this piece of paper that I've been using as a bookmark."

"Cole! That's the map to the final clue!"

"Nope. Not here. Maybe... nope." Jay bounced slightly as he looked a potential hidden clue in his backyard. "Anyone having any luck?"

"I was joking when I asked if the next one was going to be here!" Cole muttered to Kai, exasperation flooding his features.

Kai sniggered, especially when Edna came out carrying a tray with glasses filled with pink lemonade and what looked like a scrapbook of sorts. "Heya kiddos! Thought you would like a refreshing glass of lemonade to quench your thirst. Oh! Jay, I don't remember if you remember your pirate stage, but I found the scrap book that I stuck the weird looking map that you used for your treasure map along with all the photos of you with your different treasures that you would find."

Scales took one glance at the map, and promptly slapped his forehead. "It's the map to the Lost Treasure. It even as the Darkely's symbol still on it!"

Jay gave a nervous laugh, suddenly feeling very sheepish. Freezing suddenly, he turned to stare at Scales. "How well hidden was it if a five year old found it?!"

"Lloyd... stop laughing." Nya struggled to bit back her own smile, eyeing the sniggering teen that was next to her.

"This is way too poetic. Please tell me we have a signal sent out to let the proper authorities to know about this find..." Lloyd sniggered again.

"Keep laughing... Darkley's might hear you." Kai deadpanned, though the smile twitching on his face certainly betrayed his actual thoughts.

Cole pulled out his cell phone, amusement dancing in his eyes. "Can I record their response?"

"Um... no." "Sure thing." Nya and Lloyd paused to shoot dangers at each other over their contradicting responses.

Scales burrowed his face into his hands. "I was working with idiots... who are also happen to be adults. Now I'm working with geniuses... who also happen to be teenagers."

"Man... to think that we left Jay and Zane to bring the proper authorities here!" Kai couldn't keep in his laughter anymore, crumbling to the ground.

"Never underestimate the skills of ninjas... even if they are wittle kids... don't underestimate them." Nya shook her head fondly.

"Did you just baby talked?" Lloyd glanced at his best friend, sure he had misheard her.

"Yup."

"Okay the police, news crew, and famous archeologist have arrived!" Zane suddenly announced over the comms.

"Thanks Z... I guess we don't need to record it if the news crew is doing it for us."

~Later that Evening, at the Master's HQ~

Misako rubbed her forehead tiredly, even as the news droned on in the background. Garmadon and Wu appeared to be having a staring contest of some sort, which she wasn't entirely sure she wanted to get into. "Of course the most exciting thing that everyone cannot get enough about is the arrest of an Organization called Darkley's. Ninja Incorporated discovered that there was a great treasure that the founders of Darkley's hid away many centuries ago. In a race against time to get to the treasure before Darkley's can find and use it to fund their schemes, none of them realized that doing so would lead to the World's largest Criminal Empire to fall. And fall hard it did..."

"WHAT?!" Every single elemental master, plus the brothers and Misako, whipped around to stare at the TV in shock.
