Happy New Years and Merry LATE Christmas. Here's chapter 17 for everyone!

Chapter 17

After the meeting

Kallen went with Tachi and Nagata in order to get the necessary equipment to create a fake vehicle similar to what Clovis would ride around in while Zero and Ohgi set up the nets that would be used to capture Suzaku and whatever Knightmares they would use during the operation.

As they worked, Tamaki couldn't help glaring at Zero over and over despite the fact that he was back in his outfit from when they were on the train.\

Tachi and Nagata got to work on fixing up the vehicle and making it work before they decorated it to look similar to Prince Clovis's vehicle.

Ohgi's gaze continued to shift over to Zero as they worked over and over until Lelouch got a bit fed up with the constant looking. He turned his gaze over to Ohgi, although Ohgi couldn't read his expression

"You want to ask me something Kaname-san?" Zero asked him in his metallic voice.

"Are you using Kallen or using us as some sort of pawn to complete some vendetta?" Ohgi asked, getting straight to the point.

Zero blinked at him in surprise, not sure where that logic came from but he shook his head with a soft smile.

"I love Kallen with all my heart as I did the day she first came into my life. Japan was home to my baby sister and me when our father threw us out to become peace treaties of some sort. If you think I am using you then that is your own thoughts and I will prove that I am trustworthy," Zero answered as they finally finished with what they needed to do before Suzaku's execution.

"How are you so sure they'd come here?" Tamaki couldn't help but ask.

"The Purists would want to prove that the Japanese could never become Honorary Britannians and this type of thing will get Britannia to crush them even more," Zero answered before he took out his cell and called Kallen.

"Yes, Zero?" - Q1

"Remember the canister from the Shinjuku incident and hide it on that vehicle as a backup plan," Zero stated.

The order caused both Ohgi and Tamaki to wide their eyes in shock, thinking that the canister was full of poison gas.

"Already done."

"Good, it's almost time," Zero stated before he hung up.

He turned his gaze over to Ohgi and Tamaki.

"Let's go rescue Suzaku Kururugi," Zero stated as he brushed his cape to the side and headed to their meeting spot, Tamaki and Ohgi following him.

Britannian Purist- Around the time of Suzaku's Execution

Jeremiah looked down at a photo of a smiling Empress Marianne, Prince Lelouch, and Princess Nunnally before he quickly put it away as he entered a room full of camera people and Diethard.

He looked around before turning his gaze over to Diethard.

"I see you have handled His Highness's memorial program very well, a little too weepy for my personal taste, however…" Jeremiah stated before he shrugged.

Diethard huffed silently in annoyance before flashing a smile in hopes to not anger a soldier of the Imperial Family.

"Yes, of course, and the masses do tend to like a tear-jerker, your excellency," Diethard bowed as he stated his approach on what goes for a good televised memorial service.

"You have spoken like a true TV-man, especially since I acknowledge the finesse you've shown thus far. You have done well in the short time you've been given. One would tend to think that you were expecting His Highness to meet an untimely end," Jeremiah stated in both an accusing yet approving manner.

Diethard rolled his eyes at what Jeremiah seem to not understand about what the public want.

"It's very common for memorial programs to be set in advance for important people in case of such events," Diethard stated as he looked at the TV screens at the expression of Suzaku Kururugi who was getting ready to be executed.

"I suppose you have included me as well."

"Well, recent events may have bumped you up the list quite a bit your excellency."

"I suppose I wasn't deemed important enough till now then? How forthright of you, Diethad."

"Yes well, I'm afraid so Sir Jeremiah."

"Have you ever thought of enlisting? The army could always use more men like yourself."

"I don't believe that I am a very good fit as it's not really my cup of tea like television," Diethard winced in distaste.

"I see you prefer the civil sector then. It doesn't matter for I have another favor to ask of you. Soon, Suzaku Kururugi will be transferred toward his court-martial in order for them to find him guilty."

"And we, the media, shall line the road with the good patriotic Britannians."

Jeremiah patted Diethard's back and smiled.

"Excellent! You have caught on very quickly, haven't you? Be sure the rabble can see his face as well."

Viletta walked into the room as the conversation has just finished.

"Lord Jeremiah, there are many among the Elevens who see Private Kururugi as a hero. It's possible that some might even try to attempt to free him," Viletta stated.

Jeremiah waved his hand in a dismissal manner.

"I'll be there personally on my Sutherland to make sure that does not happen. If anyone even considers causing trouble, they will be executed right away."

Jeremiah turned and left the room as he got set up for Suzaku's court case and execution.

'I do all of this for you Lady Marianne. You and the children who were murdered by these filthy Elevens you once were so fond of,' Jeremiah thought as he got into his Sutherland and closed his eyes before they launched.

Far away- with Japanese rebels

Many of the Japanese were questioning why they weren't helping Kururugi. One by one, the Japanese said things like:

"He killed one of the princes of Britannia. Suzaku Kururugi should be seen and treated as a hero."

"Yeah but he's not one of us. He's an Honorary Britannian."

"His father was Prime Minister Kururugi, though."

"Who cares? The bastard gave up Japan and no one knows that about him."

"The Shinjuku business had to be the work of Kouzuki's group, right?"

"I believe so sir. They're being led by Ohgi at the present time."

"Has Kururugi's family made any responses?"

"No, since his family broke contact with him once he joined the Britannian military."

One of the members turned their gaze over to Tohdoh, the miracle worker.

"Tohdoh, what are your thoughts on all of this?"

Tohdoh lent against the wall with his eyes closed as if he was in deep thought.

"We should not involve ourselves in this execution when it's so public," Tohdoh stated.

"But that's cowardly! You're Tohdoh the miracle worker, aren't you?"

"There has always been a difference between miracles and foolhardiness," Tohdoh stated as he walked away and looked at the sky.

'Suzaku, what have you done?' Tohdoh thought to himself.

Thank you so much for reading and I hope you leave a review! What will happen next I wonder? Will Suzaku do what he did in the anime or will he join the Black Knights? I'll never tell you.
