Nelle pushed her way past the crowd, Rae following behind. She covered her head, swiftly dodging any stares from suspecting mice. She pushed ahead, and Nelle rolled her eyes "Stop fiddling with that hood!" she hissed. Rae itched her neck "This hood you gave me is itchy! I can't stand it! How far away are we from Nestors warehouse?" they crossed the street, being careful not to get trampled by any people or carriges "It's so weird being so small.."

"Well, now you know how we feel when you humans clop around and almost stomp us."

Rae quipped "I wrote you to be sarcastic, not rude.." she added "And we humans don't clop!" she noticed her body being cast by a large shadow, suddenly frozen in fear of the foot growing closer to her, she felt Nelle pull her hood and out of the way. Nelle smirked "You were saying?"

Rae pushed Nelle off her "What is with you? I knew you were feisty, I mean I based you off the inner me-"

Nelle stopped, causing Rae to nearly fall over on the ground. Nelle turned, her grin growing "We're here!" she grabbed Rae's arm and pulled her up. They quickly ran around the corner of a large run down building. It had dusty broken windows and graced with growing mold and vines. Rae smelled the rotted iron and dirt that cascaded down the metal gate around the property. She cringed "In all my writing, I didn't expect the smell to be so pungent." She rubbed her hands "So... how do we get in?

"You ask soooo many questions.." Nelle rolled her eyes, ringing the small dingy doorbell. There was a pause. Then a booming voice echoed out over the door, there was a shaking speaker above them. Rae hid behind Nelle, hearing the voice ring out "WHO DARES PUSH THE SACRED BUTTON OF THE SACRED LAIR OF NESTOR THE INVENTOR!"

Nelle stifled a laugh "Nestor you dope it's me!"

"WHO IS MEE!"

"It's me Nelle! Now open the door, I have things to do!"

"WHAT IS THE SACRED PASSWORD OF THE SACRED LAIR OF-"

"Nestor you have no password! Now stop fooling around!" Nelle stomped her foot down, tapping it on the floor impatiently. She rolled her eyes and saw Rae giggling "Don't encourage him." she smirked. The voice echoed "THERE IS A PASSWORD, I MADE IT UP BEFORE YOU GOT HERE!"

Rae chimed in "Well how are we supposed to know it, if you changed it?"

"WELL I... good point." the trap door underneath them opened, Nelle and Rae slid down a large chute, taking them down, down, down the entire warehouse. They suddenly and abruptly plopped on a large pillow. Rae looked around, thousands of twinkling lightbulbs hung above them, some large and some small, providing light around the dark area. She gasped "This is even more beautiful than I imagined!"

Nelle helped her up, dusting off her own shoulders in the process, she began braiding her hair, digging the dust out of the dark brown locks. She shouted "Nestor! Where you at!"

"I'm right here!" the rat slid down a long pole, landing on his large black boots. He was a large rat, only a few inches shorter than Ratigan himself. He was a tan color, with bright icy blue eyes. He combed a hand through his hair, his dark rubber gloves adding some struggles as he was doing it. He pulled the gold goggles off his head and giggled "Forgot I had these on." His dark brown pants and green button up shirt was covered in dirt and smudged with oil. Rae was looking at him the whole time, admiring him gaze at Nelle with admiration. But knowing how this story was written, she also knows that Nelle does not know that he truly loves her.

"Well, well, well.. What have we got here?" he started moving towards Rae, lost in her thoughts.

Rae removed her hood, seeing Nestor nearly fall over, his tools falling out of his belt and clinging to the floor "WHAT? A HUMAN?"

Nelle rolled her eyes "Yeah, ain't it cute? I think I'll keep her for a bit, make sure she's trained."

Nestor hid behind Nelle "You know what Ratigan would do if he found a human here!"

"He's not gonna find out! And if he does, it's her fault! She followed me here!"

Rae crossed her arms "You know I can here you right?" Nestor shook his head "Oh boy.. This is bad.." he began to pace the floor "Nelle you're lucky I like you so much, otherwise you're on your own!" Rae began to step forward and speak as Nestor paced the floor "I know that when you're nervous you pace the floor, you also take out your pocket watch, open it and click it shut, and in that pocket watch is a picture of your grandfather Aramus."

Nestor stopped, his jaw opening wide, he shut the pocket watch and continued to open it. Nelle shut it for him "You can stop the theatrics.. She wrote us."

"What?"

"You heard me." she plopped on a spinning chair, taking a magnifying glass in her hands and observing her goggles.

Nestor walked to Rae, keeping his distance, he began to study her, moving around in a circle "Hey.. So what is my full name?" Rae rolled her eyes "Aramus Penderghast the second.. You go by Nestor."

"And where did that nickname come from?"

"When you turned nine you changed your name to Nestor after too many people calling you 'jr', you found a box of Dr. Nestors, throat lozenges and the name stuck.." Nestor rubbed his head, trying to test the young girl. Rae was one step ahead of him. She leaned in "I also know how you feel about Nelle-"

Before she could finish and Nelle could hear, Nestor hushed her, clamping her mouth with his large hand "Please! Don't! Okay, okay, I believe you.. Please you would ruin my life entirely if you spatted out right now how I feel about you know who!" Rae pulled her hand away and shook his paw "It's Raeven.. Nice to finally meet you."

"Wow.. Nelle, you weren't kidding.."

"Yeah she's a mouse boomerang too.. Never knows when to shut her mouth AND asks far too many questions.. I hope to meet ten humans just like her." she rolled her eyes and walked to Nestor "So, we came here so you can fix these?"

"Oh.." he grabbed the goggles and smiled, his teeth shining "I thought you only wanted to visit me.." he laughed "I missed you."

Nelle stifled a laugh "I did to... I've been a little caught up."

Nestor held her hand "I wish you'd be more careful.. I care about you."

Rae cleared her throat, ending the moment between the two. Nestor shook his head "I-I just wish I could be out there with you, helping you." Nelle watched him walk to his worktable "I am careful, I promise. Also you know you can't go out since you're a coward.." she joked "I can deal with the thugs and Ratigan, because your gadgets are top notch."

Nestor laughed "Ha! I'm the best in the business!" he began to start his welding machine, the motors warming up "And by the way.. I am NO coward!" the machine buzzed and startled him, making him fall to the floor.

There was a banging at the door quite suddenly. The whole group jumped, Nelle grabbed her pistol and began the decent. The banging continued, along with shouting "Please! Please help!"

Nestor threw a switch and pointed to a large door "GO! Through the shaft!" the banging went louder and louder as they huddled inside. Nestor pulled another switch, the elevator rising and rising to the top base of the building. Rae's heart pumped in her chest at the thought of someone in need.

Nestor pulled the large doorknob, creaking the metal door open. It was a huddled creature, being attacked by FIdget, pulling their leg harder and harder to get away from the door.

With a growl, Fidget jumped over the body and headed towards the three "FInally! Two humans for the boss!" jumping towards Rae, Nestor hit the bat with his long wrench. He grinned "I knew this was good for multiple things!"

Nelle grabbed the bat and pinned him to a wall "YOU STAY AWAY FROM US!" she threw him towards the metal trash cans, hearing a clang as the bat shook his head to quicken his recovery. He grinned "The boss said to grab da humans, and that is what I'm gonna do!" Rae grabbed a trash can lid, right as Fidget was about to dive for her. She slammed the lid into Fidget's face, she watched the bat flip over and land on his bottom. He began to run away "Dang toots, you mean business."

She threw the lid, aiming for the bat again "Stay away from us! And tell your boss that too!" she breathed heavily. Her heart was beating a million times a minute. Nelle patted her back "Well done human.."

Nestor ran to the figure on the floor, Rae tripped on the floor, landing hard with a "oof!" . Nelle helped her up "Are you alright?" she asked, dusting her shoulders off.

"Yeah... what did I trip on?"

Nelle's eyes grew wide, holding a hand over her mouth "Um..."

"What?! What is it?!" she panicked. Rae's eyes widened "What did I trip on?"

"Your tail."

Rae turned, lo and behold, a small brown tail had sprouted from her backside, splitting outside of her pants and trailing behind her. She stopped, taking it in her fingers "Oh... of course... my... tail.." and with a plop, she fell, fainting again.

Nelle waved a hand throguh her hair "Nestor you take that one.. I got this one."

As they pulled the bodies in, Fidget now hiding behind a rafter, rubbed his head. He watched, noticing that Rae had in fact grown a tail. He thought to himself out loud "I should tell da boss bout this."
