This is the first chapter I've written that includes Olenna Tyrell since the news of Diana Rigg's death broke, so I want to take this moment to say RIP Dame Dianna Rigg, you will be missed by many. Thank you for your wonderful portrayal of such a great character in this show and thank you for a wonderful career.

Other Game of Thrones news this week suggests that there may be a Dunk and Egg series as well as a Robert's Rebellion one. Personally, so long as George is ok with the Rebellion series now I hope that it's animated so that the flashbacks in the original series aren't overwritten too much. The Dunk and Egg one however I am super excited for.

I hope you all enjoy this chapter. I own nothing other than the OC's, all other characters are the property of George R R Martin and HBO.

At long last, the King was married. The service had been a simple one in the Sept of Baelor, and the most interesting thing to happen had been sharing a carriage with Cersei on the way to and from the ceremony watching his sisters face tur into a scowl as the crowds were calling out for Queen Margaery.

The feast was also relatively simple, and Tyland hoped that Tommen's reign would play out in a similar fashion as it would make his own life so much easier. He actually enjoyed watching the King and the new Queen interact at the High Table, and as much as he didn't trust the Tyrell woman, he could appreciate that Tommen was still a happy young man despite his role.

Once the final course of the King's favoured applecakes had been cleared, Tyland could tell that the King was growing weary of all the congratulations coming from the guests, but before he could go up and speak with the young Baratheon, a familiar woman was in his personal space staring up at him.

"Lady Olenna." He greeted, looking down at the elderly woman who was looking at him with a cocked head.

"Lord Lannister." Olenna greeted back. "It feels odd to be saying that to yet another new person."

Tyland smiled forcibly. "I forget, you would have known my Grandfather, Tytos."

Olenna scoffed. "And the one before that. Lord Gerold. I remember my Father coming back to the Arbor gushing about Gerold the Golden swaying him in the Great Council mere weeks after his own son had been killed in battle."

The old woman clearly knew her history, but Tywin Lannister had brought him up knowing the importance of his legacy, and if tested Tyland could probably name every single member of the main branch of his House going back to before the Conquest. "Is there a point to this, Lady Olenna? Or are we simply here as two powerful players to discuss our own personal histories?"

Olenna smirked. "I'm simply here to judge you, dear boy. I knew your Father well enough. I can't say I liked him, nor did I trust him, but I respected him because he knew that sometimes our rivals must become our allies instead of our enemies. You, meanwhile, well we all know the song."

That blasted song. "A creation made popular by the blustering of King Robert. I did nothing more than I needed to do in that rebellion for my House. House Drumm shamed me by kidnapping my wife, I made them pay."

"Brutally, so I hear." Olenna smirked. "But then, we've all done bad things to keep our family safe." Tyland could sense there was something in her words that was left unsaid, but the old lady continued. "This wedding will bring about a stable peace for our two families."

"One that I hope we both still aim to grow in the near future." Tyland said, taking a quick sip of wine. "Unless you wish for me to fulfil my Father's promise? A place on the Kingsguard can quickly become available if necessary."

Olenna looked darkly at the Hand of the King before a smile broke out on her face. "Loras will wed Cersei, don't you worry about it." She said slowly. "But… if I may offer you some advice, Lord Hand?"

"Nothing I say will stop you, Lady Olenna." Tyland added dryly.

Olenna nodded, stepping closer so she was whispering into Tyland's ear. "If you keep trying to be your Father, you'll end up exactly like him." She told him calmly, before taking a step back and bowing her head. "My Lord." She said, walking off to sit with Ser Loras.

Tyland grit his teeth at the veiled threat before he turned back to view the King who was looking exceptionally bored. Knowing what he must do, he picked up a knife and tapped it against the glass to ask for quiet. "My Lords, My Ladies. It is a fine occasion we are a part of today, a Royal Wedding that bonds together the three most powerful Houses in the realm. I sincerely hope that between this marriage and the coming union between Ser Loras and the Queen Mother, Houses Baratheon, Lannister and Tyrell will share a friendship that will last for generations. A marriage, however, isn't complete until the bedding ceremony. So shall we bed them, My Lords?"

A cheer went up and Tyland watched as Tommen began to grin and laugh in amusement before the guests that weren't related began to rush to the table and pick up the King and Queen. After a short while the Queen's ballroom was relatively empty and Tyland was about to leave, when he felt an arm snake into his own and begin leading him out of the room.

"I told you." Cersei said warningly. "I will not marry that pillow biter."

"You will." Tyland said calmly. "Because you have been told to do so."

Cersei scoffed. "You are not Father, I don't have to listen to you." Tyland was getting sick of the comparisons and he noticed a door coming soon. He gripped Cersei's arm tightly and dragged her into the room, throwing her in it and slamming the door shut. Cersei got up and went to walk past. "Let me out." She snarled.

"I am not Father, you are right. But I am the head of House Lannister and the Hand of the King." Tyland snarled, shoving Cersei back again and closing the gap on her. "You are a widow, your allegiance to House Baratheon is nothing more than the boy that fell out of you years ago. So yes, you will listen to what I am telling you Cersei, because despite what you think, I am in charge now. Not you, not Jaime, me. You will be packed off to Highgarden and you will give Loras an heir or two even if it means I have to chain you to his bed myself. Do you understand me?" He was an inch away from her face at that moment, his own emerald eyes staring down angrily into hers. "Do not test me again, sister." He warned quietly, before he turned on his heels and left a shaking and scared Cersei alone.

The drama never stopped in King's Landing it seemed. As the King and Queen were safely tucked away beneath the sheets Tyland was in his office working over some of the repayment schedules that Mace Tyrell had come up with when Ser Gregor Clegane was announced as outside. Allowing the large man inside, Tyland set aside his papers and poured some wine out for them both.

"Ser Gregor, thank you for seeing me first." Tyland said, handing the Clegane the drink. "We have a lot to discuss."

"The King wants me here." Clegane said deeply.

Tyland nodded. "The King has been informed of what happened during the Sack. I trust our agreement is still in place?"

"I know what to say." Clegane snarled. "Just tell me who to kill."

"Nobody, not yet." Tyland said insistently. "But eventually you will be fighting Oberyn Martell."

"Some southern cunt." Clegane snorted.

Tyland nodded. "It must be done by the book, Gregor. In a trial by combat or a challenge so that Dorne legally can't claim murder. So don't go reacting to his threats unless it's an official challenge. Don't go running around King's Landing getting obscenely drunk and do anything that I will regret, and definitely do not go after your brother. Am I understood?"

Clegane nodded. "Of course, My Lord."

Tyland nodded back happily. "Good. Then when the duel does come, it goes without question that you cannot lose to Oberyn."

Gregor snorted. "I won't lose."

"You best not." Tyland raised an eyebrow. "You are a useful man, Gregor, and I have looked after you for a number of years. I would hate for the trust I've put in you to have been wasted." Gregor clenched his teeth but said nothing in retaliation. "Oberyn will loudly claim what happened during the Sack. Only admit it to him once you're about to finish him off, not before and definitely not loudly."

"He will die knowing I tasted his sister." Clegane smirked. "I like it."

Tyland smirked back. "Very well. You are dismissed, Ser. Don't fail me."

Clegane gulped and nodded, bowing his head quickly before the obscenely large man left the Tower of the Hand and allowed Tyland to continue his paperwork.

It wasn't often that the Small Council had visitors, and even less often that said visitor was going to be the High Septon. As the doors opened Tyland immediately saw the bruises forming on the elderly man's face. He had heard about the incident of course, and whilst he was silently pleased that the usually arrogant man had been knocked down by a peg or two, the treatment of the High Septon couldn't be allowed to go unpunished otherwise the faithful followers of the Seven would be outraged at the leniency.

"Lord Hand, Lord Tyrell, Lord Redwyne." The High Septon began to list off a greeting to everybody in attendance. "Ser Kevan, Ser Jaime, Lord Varys, Grand Maester."

"Your Holiness." Tyland greeted back. "Please, tell us what happened."

The High Septon cleared his throat and then began an obviously rehearsed speech. "As the High Septon of the Faith of the Seven I give voice to the will of the Gods and am their foremost servant in this world. An insult to me is an insult to the Gods. An assault on my person, is an assault on our very religion."

"You say you were assaulted." Kevan Lannister stated. "Are you aware of the culprits?"

"I am, Ser Kevan." The High Septon stated bluntly. "Those fanatics in the streets of King's Landing that call themselves 'sparrows'. They humiliated me, they beat me, they left me naked and bleeding on the cobblestones. I am lucky to be alive."

Tyland turned to Ser Kevan. "Are you aware of what happened?"

Kevan nodded. "His Holiness gave a detailed report to Ser Addam, this all started by the crowns own brothel." That had been an idea of Tyrion's before he had left King's Landing the first time to boost the coffers of the crown, and so far it was only slowly starting to see any form of profits. Any business belonging to the treasonous Valeman had been confiscated and become property of King Tommen, and all the profits along with it.

Mace Tyrell looked aghast at the accusations. "High Septon, this is a rather shocking thing to hear!" He exclaimed.

The High Septon stood tall in his defence. "I tend to both the highest born and the lowliest among us." He explained. "Even prostitutes may earn the mercy of the Mother."

Tyland shook his head. "Please do not insult us, Your Holiness. We all know why you were there."

"My Lord Hand I…" The High Septon began.

"I do not judge." Tyland insisted. "But instead of discreetly bringing them into your own personal space as most other important men wishing to keep their nocturnal activities hidden do, you walked into the brothel and are surprised when you got dragged out again. I care not if you break your vow of celibacy, but I do care when your actions spawn this blatant act of violence and threatens to allow the word of the faith to be questioned." Tyland sighed. "Those responsible will be dealt with, Your Holiness, but please ensure that your relationship with the whores is more discreet in the future."

The High Septon was shocked for a moment before he bowed his head. "Thank you, Lord Hand." He said proudly, before he left the Small Council chambers.

"A man's private affairs should stay private." Pycelle grumbled.

"As yours are?" Jaime raised an eyebrow, before he turned to Tyland. "This should be dealt with swiftly."

Lord Redwyne nodded. "Agreed, the High Septon as foul a man as he is cannot be allowed to be disrespected in such a way. The entire Faith will be called into question if not."

"I have set Ser Addam with the task of finding the leader." Kevan explained. "Very soon we should have this 'High Sparrow' in our custody."

Tyland was happy with that. "Draft a statement for the criers explaining that the Sparrows are a danger to the faith."

"At once, Lord Hand." Kevan nodded.

Shuffling his own papers, Tyland was pleased at the progress that had been made. "Very well then My Lords, I believe that is enough for one day." He announced, and he waited for them all to leave before the Lannister Lord rose from his own seat.

Less than 6 hours after the Council meeting, Tyland was walking with Ser Kevan down to the cells to meet with the so-called High Sparrow. The Gold Cloaks had arrested him efficiently, but that still wasn't enough to stop some of the calls of a corrupt Faith in the streets. Hoping to put this mess instantly behind him, Tyland himself had requested to be a part of the dispensing of justice.

"He is fanatic, Tyland." Kevan was saying as they walked. "He takes parts of the Seven-Pointed Star as literal fact."

Tyland scoffed. "A book written by men, for men." He said sharply. "Every religion has their fanatics, and every time they gain a semblance of power, they start twisting their own words and killing because their own warped vision of the Gods Will tells them too."

"How very cynical." Kevan shrugged, but he didn't disagree. "He should be publicly executed for the attack on the Gods."

"Him and all others involved." Tyland nodded. "But first we should speak to him, less we get accused of an unfair trial."

They reached the comfortable cell soon enough, and as Tyland was let in the first thing he noticed was the man's dirty robes. He wore no shoes either, and he was simply sitting on the bed in the corner with his eyes closed. "Welcome, Lord Lannister."

Tyland was surprised. "You knew I would come." He stated.

"Even in the depths of Fleabottom we know who will come knocking on our doors if our crimes are deemed severe enough." The High Sparrow stated. "You have been the true voice of law for almost 10 years, even if the sinner Renly Baratheon once wore the mantle of Master of Laws."

"Then you will know I am not here because I take this matter lightly." Tyland explained. "We are hear decide what the crime of incitement is worthy of."

"So I have already been judged guilty." The High Sparrow said with a smile.

Ser Kevan cleared his throat. "A dozen witnesses claiming you are giving speeches with treasonous content. 5 men testified that you were the one to give the orders to detain the High Septon and force him on a walk of atonement. Your good deeds are commendable, but your misdeeds are great as well."

"The Seven will judge me, as they will judge you both equally." The High Sparrow said calmly. "Despite your lavish beginnings, we are nothing but men in the eyes of the Seven."

"We are." Tyland nodded. "And men that order the kidnap of the Gods chosen representative should be punished in accordance with the law."

"And how will you be punished, My Lord?" The High Sparrow asked. "You have committed many heinous crimes."

Tyland took a deep breath and walked over to stare out of the small window in the cell. "I have done many things in order to protect my family. The Gods have seen to judge me by allowing me to serve my nephew as Hand of the King."

"Pride cometh before the fall." The High Sparrow smiled, quoting. "Remember that, after you have had me killed."

"It is not me that will sentence you." Tyland insisted. "Ser Kevan."

Tyland's uncle nodded and stepped forwards. "As Master of Laws I find you guilty of attempted insurrection and violence against the Faith. You will hereby be remanded in the Black Cells until the date of your public beheading."

"Pray to your Gods, High Sparrow." Tyland said calmly as he moved towards the door once more. "You will see them soon."

It wasn't longer than 20 minutes from leaving the High Septon to yet more drama occurring within the Red Keep. Tyland was taking the walk through the castle towards the Tower of the Hand when there were signs of shouting coming from outside in the training yard. Noticing a couple of guards running in that direction, the Lannister rolled his eyes exaggeratedly and followed.

When he arrived at the training yard it was exactly the scene that he didn't want to see. The Westermen and the Dornish had split up into two sections with about 5 men each and each were screaming bile at the other. In the middle of both parties Prince Oberyn being held back by his paramore, screaming at the still sat down and drinking Ser Gregor Clegane.

"Admit it!" Oberyn was shouting furiously. "You raped her, you murdered her, you killed her children!" Ser Gregor didn't respond, instead he took another sip of his water skin and leant further back in his chair. "You arrogant…" Oberyn growled.

"What is the meaning of this?" Tyland shouted, gaining the attention of the rabble.

Oberyn scoffed. "You let him roam free when he's on trial for murder." He then spat at the ground. "Lannisters."

"Ser Gregor's trial is tomorrow, Prince Oberyn. Until then he is under strict instructions to not leave the grounds of the Red Keep." Tyland stated bluntly. "Until tomorrow, I would ask that you not try and start a fight."

"He sits there as arrogantly as a Lannister." Oberyn snarled. "When he knows what he did!"

"The King will be the judge of what he has done." Tyland said, getting in between the Dornishmen and his enemy. "As he will with you if you linger here looking for an argument, Prince Oberyn."

Ellaria stroked Oberyn's chest. "Come my love, the monster will get what he deserves tomorrow." She said to him soothingly.

Oberyn just laughed. "You think? It is a court of Lannisters judging a Lannister lap dog. I will get no justice for Elia here." He spat on the floor again. "No, I will have to earn my justice through blood."

It was entirely expected, but Tyland had to portray the diffuser. "I think that is a bit drastic, Prince Oberyn, when the trial will be held tomorrow."

"There will be a trial, Lord Hand." Oberyn said, pointing his finger at the Clegane knight. "But justice will not be handled with words coming from Lannister mouths, but with steel. A trial by combat, no champions. Ser Gregor against myself."

"Oberyn…" Ellaria tried to stop him.

"Done." Ser Gregor stood up, and the aptly named Mountain walked over so he was stood beside Tyland, towering over the Lannister. "We shall fight, Dornishman. To the death."

Oberyn nodded, but his face was pure rage. He pointed his finger again. "You will admit your crimes, and you will pay. For Elia." He snarled, before he could finally be dragged away by Ellaria. "For Elia!"

Tyland waited for the Dornish to be out of earshot before he swivelled on Ser Gregor. "What was that about?" He bit through clenched teeth.

"The fucker saw me training, I moved out the way instead of pounding him into dust as you wanted." Gregor grumbled. "I should have split him open there and then."

"No, you shouldn't have." Tyland sighed. "You did well, Ser Gregor. But please go back to your chambers while I sort this with the King. I'll call on you when it's time to fight."

Gregor nodded, walking away as he said. "Make it soon, I fancy some Dornish soup for supper tomorrow."

Firstly then the King is married! But the main part of that scene is the bit between Olenna and Tyland. In the show (Season 3 Episode 6) Tywin and Olenna had an intense discussion where Tywin convinces Olenna to betroth Loras to Cersei, that is the conversation referred to in this scene. The song mentioned of course, is the Lion Red from Chapter 2. I always enjoy Tyland and Cersei animosity too, so I hope you enjoyed that part as much as I did.

Gregor Clegane was an interesting one to plan. He's certainly not stupid, he just thinks with his sword more often than his brain. He's also loyal to an extent, so having him listen to Tyland was a fun scene to write, even at the end when he could have just slaughtered Oberyn.

I also couldn't see the Sparrows becoming too much of a problem under this government. Cersei herself allowed them to gain power in a way that no genuine leader ever would have, so the threat has been swiftly ended.

I hope you all enjoyed the chapter.

Next Time: Loren arrives at the Twins, whilst King's Landing gears up for the trial by combat.

Reviews:

Supremus85: We clearly aren't going to agree, but as I'm the writer this story means that the negotiating power of the Iron Throne is a lot greater than that of the Vale by itself and the Free Cities won't want to lose trade with everybody else because Lysa Arryn doesn't want to play nicely. End of.

TheOnlyKing: She's a wonderful character. I really hope her and Olenna Tyrell come face to face in the books.

Hail King Cerion: Loren's in the process of growing up and Genna treating him like an adult instead of a kid that's made a mistake will be helpful.

tommyginger: I think that even in a dressing down they wouldn't mention the Jaime/Cersei thing so they weren't breathing fire into the rumours, but internally all the Lannisters must be thinking that! As for Sansa's nickname for the baby… all I really can say is spoilers.

sniperbro1998: Jaime being sent to get Myrcella was stupid in the show, and while this is a show fic if there are ways that I can stop the ridiculous decisions that some characters made then I will. Tyland isn't Cersei, and while he cares about Myrcella he won't risk a war.

Flamingp0tat0: I often try and have the romance secondary at the most in all of my stories. In this one while Loren has made a lot of his decisions based around Cerenna, even that relationship going forwards will be almost background to the true plot (Lannister family fracturing/Dany/White Walkers) I do also try and imagine the entire world, not just the close bubble of the OC's when it comes to what's going on.

Silver crow: His anger is mainly that he wasn't informed, but also that Tyland is realising that he isn't the only one in Tommen's ear making moves. He believes that he understands Oberyn better than Margaery or Tommen will and while Myrcella being in danger is a concern, he's more worried right now about outsider influence.

EstarossaTheBasilisk: Sansa will NEVER ally with Tyland after all he's done to her and her family. She knows he killed Ned and was the direct cause of Robb and Cat's death, as well as Edmure's. In this story Margaery feels sorry for Sansa and knows that she is a key ally being Lady Lannister, while Sansa knows that Margaery is a good ally as Queen and the only person who can influence Tommen more than Tyland can. She knows exactly what she's doing. She's playing the game her way and that's all I can say without spoiling anything. As for Tommen, he understands how dangerous Tyland can be and Margaery will remind him of that when needed. Tyland is a mentor yes, but a dangerous one.

Rolling Mist 13: I enjoy them too, so I hope that the latest chat was good for you to read! Genna is a great, underused character in canon, I hope she has more scenes in the books, and she isn't killed off quickly.
