Chapter 5 - Trouble in the Air
Two weeks later (After the school term began again)
The Echo Creek School Buses were all parking outside Los Angeles airport. It was there that all the students got off after the teachers before they collected their luggage for their two week trip to London. All students were wearing their outfits for the school trip outfits. Amongst the students were Star, Marco, Jackie, Janna, Tom and Kelly although Ponyhead and Tad were nowhere to be seen amongst them.
"Alright everyone, form two separate lines. I'll need one with those of you whose parents are coming on the trip to London and another whose parents aren't coming." Principal Skeeves said as he had his students form the two separate lines that he wanted. There were also staff members from Echo Creek High that had volunteered to come aside from the parents as well. But surprisingly, one of the volunteers was none other than Marco's karate mentor, Sensei Brantley, and another was Andante Inferno too, just as he promised.
He greeted the students once again before helping Skeeves sort out the plane tickets. The parents then began saying their farewells to their own kids, at least for the fortnight. Even Marco's, Jackie's and Janna's parents were there too, with Jackie's parents having used Amy's van for the day as transport. "Safe journey, Sabrina. Make sure you call me once you've landed in London, ok?" Sabrina's father told her before hugging her and letting her head off towards her friends, oblivious to the glowing light in her bag.
"Take care of yourself, Janna. And try not to get into any trouble." Janna's mother said firmly to her own daughter. "Come on, Mom. Since when am I ever in any trouble?" Janna asked with a smirk, making her own mother unamused. "Right then…we'll see you at the tournament, Jackie. I promise, we'll be there." Kayden said, hugging his daughter, who seemed a little hesitant at first. "But dad, what if you guys can't make it again?" Jackie asked with worry as she looked up to her own father, who then put his hand on her shoulder. "This time will be different, Jackie. Your mother and I, even your sister and Joey are gonna be there." Kayden said confidently.
It was then that Ellie immediately took her daughter by surprise. "Ohhh, I really wish I was going with you today, honey." Ellie said, nearly suffocating her daughter with her hug. "See you soon, sis." Amy then said, stroking Jackie's hair a little. "I suppose so, Amy." Jackie said, uncomfortable with having her hair messed up. "I'll miss you, Jackie…" Joey then said, hugging his big sister's leg. "Aw, Joey…I'm gonna miss you too, little man." Jackie said, stroking Joey's hair.
Before Marco could catch up with his friends, he was immediately stopped when he heard his parents call him. "Marco, do you have a moment?" Rafael said, calling his boy over as he searched his pockets. Eventually, he found a small box and gave it to Marco. "Here. Since I heard that Star has a crush on you, give this to her." He said while Marco looked in the box before looking back up again. "Er, Dad…I'm not sure about this." Marco replied hesitantly as he briefly looked away.
"Marco…I know you and Jackie broke up. But you do also like Star, don't you?" Angie asked her own boy in a sweet manner. "Well, yeah but-" Marco began, only to be cut off by his father. "Then I'm positive that Star will love this. I mean, your mother did say this was beautiful, so Star'll love this too." Angie then finished before hugging Marco. "Plus, it's something for Star as a way to thank her for giving us a good time while she was here." Rafael said, really making a good point too.
After saying their farewells to Marco, the karate kid then caught up with Star and the rest of the gang just when the other students had finished saying goodbye and were heading off to the airport's terminal. "Marco, what was up with your parents back there?" Star asked, being one to notice Marco taking a while with his parents. "Oh, it's nothing important for now." He said sheepishly. Star brought it as she led the gang towards the students' group.
Later in the airport's shopping area
The gang were doing a bit of shopping, while mostly messing around but also buying themselves some grub at the same time. Star was mainly the one messing around, or rather, so excited about the place, which had overall annoyed Miss Skullnick, yet some how it impressed Mr Andante Inferno himself. "Mon mon. Yur friénd cairtainly does 'ave a sénsé of fun, doesn't shé?" He said with a smirk. "Yep, you've got no idea how great she is." Tom said in agreement.
"Hey Marco, what do you have there?" Kelly asked Marco, having noticed the box he was holding in his hand. "Huh? Oh…it's a gift that I'm gonna give Star in London, for giving me and my family a brilliant time." Marco explained with a bit of a blush on his face. "Oh it is, I think she'll love it." Kelly responded with a small smile before her back strangely unzipped itself.
Inside, not only were her clothes and stuff there, but so were Ponyhead, who was uncomfortable and hot, and Tad, who was comfortable and cool. "Hey Kelly, can you hurry up and get us onboard already? I'm dying in here." Pony asked as she whined. Kelly spotted a few security guards and immediately thumped Pony on the head to knock her out before any trouble came up. Looking at Marco, she looked away in embarrassment. "Y-Yeah…don't tell Star I did that, I just needed to shut Pony up before anyone noticed." Kelly explained, gesturing the security guards that had passed her. "I won't if you won't." Marco responded, a little bit fine that Kelly did that to Pony.
"Now boarding flight 282 to London. Now boarding flight 282 to London." The voiceover spoke, announcing that the flight to London was now ready. Hearing this, Andante led the students and teachers towards their terminal, where some of the passengers were already going onboard the plane. Once at the terminal, Skeeves allowed Andante to take charge of where the students sat as he gave all the tickets to the ticket checker, even allowing her to check if all students were present.
"Alright you lot, follow Andante and find your seats. They'll be where you're sitting for the next few hours so choose wisely." Mrs Skullnick said before she led the students onto the plane with the staff. After a while, Andante went on with the last students before Star, the gang and a few of their other friends. "Finally, I've been waiting to sit down since forever." Tom complained as he began walking towards the tunnel that led to the plane. "Calm down Tom, we're there now, so what could possibly happen now?" Marco asked with a light chuckle.
Marco, unfortunately, spoke too soon when the gang were suddenly stopped by the ticket checker along with their other friends. "Sorry, I'm afraid you're not with the students, and boarding is finished." She said, showing that all of the students' tickets were there, except for Star's, the gang's and even Ingrid, Toby, Justin, Alfonzo and Ferguson too.
"Wh-What?! Hold on, there must be a mistake, there were supposed to be 60 students, not less than 60!" Star said, only for the ticket checker to show them 51 tickets, thus making her really frightened and confused. "Wait, there were 60, what did you do with the other 9?!" Marco exclaimed in shock. "I told you, there were only 51 tickets." The checker explained, feeling a little annoyed with the insistence. "Oh great, now what?" Jackie groaned in anger. "We do this!" Star said, grabbing her wand.
Without thinking, she immediately used the freezing spell on the checker, opened the door to the jetway that led to the plane and immediately ran down it with the rest of her friends, hoping to get on. "W-Wait, you can't go down there! It's-" The checker tried to warn, only she was too late to speak. The plane had already left the jetway and was heading to the runway, and the gang didn't realise this until too late.
Star, Marco and Kelly saw what was up ahead and barely managed to stop before they reached the edge of the jetway, unfortunately, Jackie, Janna and Tom ran into them by accident and Ferguson, Alfonzo and the others then caused Star and Marco to fall off. Marco attempted to open a portal onto the plane, but his dimensional scissors malfunctioned, rendering them absolutely useless. "Marco, Star, are you guys ok?" Kelly called down to the duo with worry.
"Well…I think I broke my arm, Star landed on top of me and I hit my head off the floor, but other than that, I'm fine." Marco groaned as Star got off of him. "Oi, what's going on here?!" One of the airport security officers yelled at the Star and Marco, having being sent to get them. "Uh, the ticket checker wouldn't let us onto the plane?" Marco said nervously, oblivious to the fact that saying that was bad, especially since the gang were in big trouble for causing mayhem that they didn't even want to cause.
Thanks to that stupid turn of events, the gang ended up getting kicked out of the terminals and back into the main entrance. Tom was yelling at the security officers and complaining about how stupid they were on not keeping an eye on the tickets. "Marco, how couldn't we get onto the plane that time?" Star asked as Marco looked at his scissors once more. "I-I don't know…my scissors aren't working, it's like they've run out of magic." He responded as he tried using the scissors again, only to see them falter once more.
Jackie, having checked her phone, then noticed the time. "Oh brilliant! The plane left before we got on, we've missed it!" She yelled angrily, crossing her arms in a huff. "Brilliant…I was so looking forward to looking around London, and now I'll never get that chance!" Marco said in agreement. "Wait…Skeeves or the other members of Staff don't know that we're not there. And we've got that exam to do as well! Ohh man, we're so doomed!" Justin realised in horror. "Come on, there's gotta be another way!" Jackie said, trying to be optimistic. "I dunno…it seems like a long shot, Jackie. And I don't know if we can do anything without getting into trouble." Toby added with a shiver.
"Right, well…why don't we go back to my sister's van? Maybe we can think of something when we're there." Jackie then said, feeling like that was the only logical choice. However, having heard those words, a sudden brainwave went over Marco's head. "Wait…did you just say…the van?" He said, realising that there was another way to get to London, and it should've been so obvious from a moment ago. "Ohh no. He's not thinking what I think he's thinking…is he?" Jackie asked, worried about the answer being true.
Outside the airport
Marco's and Janna's parents were walking back to the parking lot along with Jackie's family whilst talking. "…well I suppose one gets used to this sort of thing when your kids grow up." Rafael said, having thought about what it would be like without Marco for the next two weeks. "Yeah, I guess you're right, Rafael. But at least now I'll have a bit of peace without Janna for a while." Janna's mother said with a bit of relief, having constantly gotten complaints about her daughter all the time.
"Also, going off topic a little, you did say that your son's best friend is a magical princess from, as you say, another dimension?" Ellie asked, trying to make sure that she was right about her thoughts. "Yes, why do you ask, Ellie?" Angie asked, curious on why she brought up Star like that. "Well, I'm not one to disagree, but I don't really believe in magic that much. You know like a rabbit appearing out of a hat or maybe the power to walk on water or maybe-" Before she could continue, Ellie was cut off by her only Son, Joey.
"-Amy's van flying in the air?" He said while looking towards the sky. "My point being, Joey." Ellie said, stroking her little boy's hair. "Wait, my van? Why'd you bring that up, lil' Joe?" Amy then asked in confusion. Joey then pointed to the sky where everyone then looked. It was there that they all saw Amy's 1970s GMC van, ascending into the air before it flew towards the airport's runway, spitting out magic smoke as it flew.
A note then dropped from the van and flew into Ellie's hands. Need to borrow the van again. It's an emergency. Sorry - Jackie. It said much to everyone's surprise. Amy checked her pockets for her keys to the van and found that they were gone. "Does that mean Jackie took my van, again?" Amy asked in confusion. "More importantly, why are they using it again?" Rafael asked out of curiosity. "I'm gonna kill her…" Ellie said, trying her best to not explode in front of her little boy as her husband, Kayden, calmed her down.
Inside the van
Star and the rest of her friends were on board, having gotten their luggage and all. Marco realised that the other way to get to London was by using Jackie's sister's van once more. They could've taken the dimensional portal over to London, but Star, being herself, decided that the scenic route would be better. Jackie, worried about her mother finding out, decided to fly the van, since she had used it before and had more experience. "There we go, everyone on board? Cool, now, all we've gotta do is find our flight to London and follow it."
"Er, Jackie…are you sure your parents won't mind us stealing your sister's van?" Marco asked nervously as he and Star got comfortable in the passenger seats with everyone else in the back. "Uh…it's no problem. I mean, what's the worst that could happen?" Jackie responded, ignoring the fact that she was probably going to get grounded for this stunt. A few people spotted the van and were actually stunned by how it flew. One of those people happened to be the driver of a taxi, who looked out his window in disbelief at the sight of the flying vehicle. "Man, I gotta stop drivin' at night." He said before awkwardly driving off.
Back at the airport's drop off area
Ludo, or rather Toffee, and his goons had arrived and were already searching around for Star, even asking a few of the students' parents if they knew where she was. So far, none of them had any luck on their side. "No use, boss. None of us even know where to look around here." Man Arm said meekly. "Well it's obvious because you morons aren't working hard enough, now get back to it, or at least something that tells us that she was here!" Toffee then ordered much to Ludo's panic.
"Ngh! Remind me again why Toffee couldn't have just taken out Star Butterfly after he sent out the rats to look for Glossaryck?" Bearicorn asked with a growl of annoyance. "Well if you idiots had kept an eye on him, then that would've happened." Emmitt pointed out firmly. "Rgh! I hate it when you're right. And for the record, how would any of us know if Star was here?" Carrot then asked in confusion.
At that moment, Ludo's minions heard a strange noise coming from above. "Hey, what's that noise you guys?" Big Chicken asked before he and all the monsters turned towards the noise's source, Amy's van, flying towards the runways of the airport. "What the devil?!" Spikeballs said upon seeing the van. The flying vehicle then spluttered a little before accidentally changing course towards the entrance of the airport, much to Ludo's panic.
"JACKIE, LOOK OUT!" Tom yelled as he and the others braced for impact. Jackie screamed with fright and immediately shoved the flight lever up, narrowly missing the building in front of them and the monsters as it flew back on course. "Woah…that was totally a close one…" Pony said, trying not to freak out. All the while, Ludo watched the van continue it's course to the runway. "Er, does this mean we missed her by a minute?" Mushy Mush asked awkwardly before getting a bonk on the head by Spikeballs.
Back in the Van
Jackie had gotten to the airport a little later than expected, mainly because their flight had already taken off to London. Thankfully Star was able to track the rest of her friends' signatures on the plane with her wand, meaning that there was a chance to catch up. "Uh, Marco…I've gotta be a bit honest here; Most people would really be shocked to see a flying van, especially this one." Jackie said, really making a really good point along with the others. They felt like the van was exposed to anyone who'd look up to the sky.
"I'd have to agree with Jackie, Marco. So can I suggest giving us a bit of cover?" Kelly then suggested along with a nod from Tad. "Uh, right. Invisibility it is." Marco then said before looking at the dials on the dashboard and pressing a new button, one that connected to the magic charger in the van's engine. He went switched on a button that said invisibility and then sat back. "Ok, that's done it. London, here we come." He said as the van suddenly began to blend into the cloudy skies, literally.
A few hours later over the North Atlantic Ocean
The skies were a bit cloudy and there was mostly sea with no land that was seen below. From the clouds, the Trinity Wing, the great Mewman Airship, emerged from the clouds, with Hekapoo at the bow, getting the good sense of fresh air. "Ahhh…talk about freedom." She said with a satisfied sigh. "Uh, what's there to smell? I can't even smell anything." Rhombulus said, grumbling about a good point about himself. "It's because you don't have a nose or a mouth, genius." Hekapoo pointed out in annoyance.
"Still…you gotta admit, the view is spectacular, even above the clouds." Rhombulus said, gazing upon the cloudy yet sunny horizon. "Yeah…you said it, rockhead." Hekapoo said as she breathed the fresh air once more. All the while, as the crew of the airship continued to sail the vessel, Queen Moon was busy in the cabin with Omnitraxus, who was charting the course of the ship, and River, who was bored out of his head since they took off hours ago.
"Darling, remind me again why we couldn't have just opened up a portal to London and walk through?" River asked, becoming more bored by the second. "It's more of a traditional route, River. A scenic route if you will, just to get a good look at Earth below." Moon said in a calm but firm manner. "But I'm getting bored…it's taking too long." River then pouted to his wife with a grumble. "Well, I suggest you find a way to entertain yourself." Moon then spoke in annoyance, even getting a little distracted from her maps.
Outside meanwhile, Ruberiot, the "I'm certain, Foolduke. It sounds like the engine of a vehicle, it was right out there." Ruberiot claimed, pointing towards…nothing, there were mostly clouds. "There's nothing out there, Ruberiot. It's just a bunch of clouds." Foolduke insisted in annoyance, not believing anything that Ruberiot had to say.
All of a sudden, an engine's noise was heard from out of nowhere, it was heard by everyone aboard the airship, including Queen Moon and King River upon briefly leaving the cabin. "Ha! I told you I heard something! Although…why are we hearing that? And why's it in the same direction that we're heading?" Ruberiot said with pride before looking all around in a confused manner. It was then that dark green goo appeared out of nowhere until it solidified and formed the shape of a 1970s GMC van.
The goo then broke off the shape, revealing to be Amy's Van, still flying towards London. Queen Moon rushed over to Rhombulus and Hekapoo to see this vehicle, only to see Star in the passenger seat on the other side. "Uh, what's going on now? Has Star gotten herself into trouble again?" Rhombulous asked in shock, seeing the van in the distance. "More importantly, is she being her reckless self once again? Because I thought you were keeping an eye on her, Hekapoo?!" Moon then asked in absolute shock and anger. "I dunno…but I'm gonna find out soon enough." Hekapoo responded, glaring at the vehicle in front.
Back in the van, and having seen what happened on the outside alongside Jackie and Star, Marco attempted to activate the invisibility function once again, only for nothing to happen on the outside of the van. "Oh brilliant. The invisibility function must've died out." He groaned, knowing this was bad, especially with no cover in the sky now. "Maybe it's out of juice?" Ferguson suggested sheepishly. "Or maybe it's because of the interdimensional fritz that dried that part out of the charger." Star then said, figuring that that might have been the case.
"Well come on, you guys, let's go down a bit. We've gotta find the plane." Tom then said, feeling like that was the only logical option to do for the time being, even the others agreed with him as well. "Ok, you'd better hold onto something you guys." Jackie then said as she pushed the flight lever up a little, thus allowing the van to descend in order to find their plane. Up ahead, Marco spotted the plane, flying a few miles up ahead. It was definitely the right plane as Star's tracking spell indicated that her friends were on it.
"There it is!" He said, pointing out the plane as Jackie immediately set the van's speed somewhat up high, thus allowing her to carefully fly alongside the flight. "Now all we've gotta do is stay alongside the plane until we get to London." Jackie said with a sigh of relief. "Yeah, we can't be far from there, right?" Marco then said with a little optimism as Star nodded in agreement.
"'Ich glaube nicht, dass wir irgendwo in der Nähe von London sind. Wir sind noch nicht für ein paar Stunden da. (Translation: I don't think we're anywhere near London. We're not due there for another few hours.)" Ingrid pointed out, causing the whole gang to groan in annoyance. "This is gonna take forever!" Ferguson groaned with his stomach rumbling a little. All of a sudden however, there was a loud whistling noise coming from somewhere. "Uh guys? Does anyone hear that?" Jackie asked in confusion. "It…It sounds like a train." Justin said, trying to find the source of the noise.
"We must be getting close to London." Tobey then said with a smile of relief. "Uh, we're miles in the sky, how can a train be up this high?" Kelly pointed out in confusion, being a bit realistic for the moment. "Maybe we're all hallucinating. I know how to cure that." Star said with her usual giddy self as she prepared to cast a spell on everyone. It was then that Marco thought of something that told him otherwise. "Hang on…if we all heard that noise, you don't think…" He began, only to turn towards Star with worry.
Star was starting to get a little panicky, Jackie was similar and everyone looked at each other in an uneasy manner. It was suddenly changed when Pony and Tad looked out the window, squealing with a hint of fear and gaining Star's and Marco's attention. Behind the van was a neon green ghostly train shaped like a spider that was on a track that was spun up by lots and lots of webs. What's worse for the matter was Ludo and his minions were aboard, and looking like they were about to really hurt Star.
Seeing this scary train, the gang screamed in panic as they then tried flying faster to outrun Ludo's newfound spider-like train spell. "Oh no! It's that crazy band of monsters again!" Justin screamed like a little girl, oblivious to Janna's snicker. "Oh man…now I remember the worst of the times we had together." Marco groaned, and he wasn't wrong, with all the monster attacks sometimes interrupting his and Star's moments.
Jackie tried going faster all the same but it was no use, the train continued to chase them. Tom and Pony tried to use their magic in order to knock the train off its tracks, but it just kept getting back up again. "CAN'T WE GO ANY FASTER?!" Alfonzo screamed hysterically from seeing the spider's face. "WE'RE AT TOP SPEED! Just don't look at that thing!" Jackie yelled, feeling scared herself but didn't show it. Ludo attempted to throw one of his minions onboard the van, unfortunately, Carrot was too scared to jump.
At the same time, Marco's phone rang. He got it out and saw that his parents were calling, which was the last thing he needed right now. "Marco, are you there?" Rafael said in a little bit of a cross manner. "Where are you? Also, I know you took the van. But why did you take it without warning us first?" Angie then asked her son with concern. "Mom, Dad, look, I really don't have the time to explain right now. I'll call you tomorrow if I'm still alive!" Marco replied out of panic, regretfully hanging up on his parents.
"We're gonna die!" Star screamed as she grabbed the steering wheel and turned it over towards her side, immediately causing the van to swerve towards the plane. She would have taken down the plane and killed herself and her friends in the process, but thankfully, the van missed the top of the plane by meters.
Meanwhile on the plane
Many of the students were relaxing, especially Brittney, who was in first class thanks to her father's donations and expensive stuff. At first they were all oblivious to the spider train chasing Jackie's Sister's Van, and many were even content on enjoying the flight. "Wow…would you guys get a load of that view?" Chantal said with amazement. "Yeah…I just hope we're not too far away from London, because my legs are getting tired already." Megan then said with a sheepish sigh. "Say, I wonder where Star is?" Starfan asked, looking around to find the crazy princess, but couldn't see her anywhere. "Strange…I never saw her get onto the plane." Oskar responded in confusion.
All of a sudden however, Chantal spotted Amy's van, zooming towards the plane and barley missing it by meters from the looks of it. "Woah! What the heck was that?!" Sabrina yelped in panic as she and the other students jerked their heads in the direction that the van immediately flew. Without hesitation, the students rushed towards the other side to look out the windows, like Brittney's window for example.
They all saw the van as it sharply span in a u-turn kind of move and go under the plane, still spinning. "What. The heck. Is Star Butterface and her band of losers up to now?!" The stuck up girl said to herself in shock as she saw the van. Andante and he other members of Staff dismissed the fact that there was a flying van…well, Andante saw that they were right and even saw the green spider-like train.
Back in the van
Jackie, thanks to Star's panicking, had lost control of steering the van when it flew under the plane and spun counterclockwise on its side like a barrel rolling jet. "Oooh, I THINK I'M GONNA BE SICK!" Ferguson said as he felt queasy from the spinning van. "NICHT AUF MIR BIST DU NICHT! (Translation: NOT ON ME YOU'RE NOT!)" Ingrid growled, attempting to use Alfonzo as a shield.
Marco and Star slipped out of their seats when the van flew upwards and mostly because of the barrel rolling. Thankfully, Jackie managed to regain control of the van. Only a few seconds after that, Star and Marco fell out when the van's back door opened without warning, and it was lucky that Marco grabbed onto the door's handle, otherwise they would have plummeted to their deaths into the ocean. "B-FLY!" Pony screamed in panic as the young princess held onto Marco for her life.
Marco was having trouble holding on, but it was his panic that kept him holding on. "JUST HOLD ON!" Ferguson yelled to the duo. Star would've dropped her wand, but she was lucky that it was still on the passenger seat. However, that was the least of their worries, especially now that Ludo's ghostly spider train was right underneath the van and preparing to eat the two kids up once they fell.
However, the train was immediately hit by the Trinity Wing's bow cannons as soon as they tried to get close, causing Ludo to retreat for now, or rather, it was Toffee's decision. Kelly then boldly grabbed onto the passenger seat, took out one of her more harmless swords and extended it towards Marco. "TAKE MY SWORD, YOU GUYS!" She yelled as Marco and Star tried to keep themselves from falling.
Marco then tried grabbing for Kelly's sword, and he caught it, but his hand then slipped off after a few seconds. "HOLD ON TO IT!" Kelly said, holding out her sword a bit further. "I'M TRYING! WE BOTH ARE! BUT YOUR SWORD'S TOO SLIPPERY!" Marco called back as Star tried her luck. It was close, and a few times they nearly slipped off all together, but eventually, Star and Marco were able to grab onto the sword's hilt.
Kelly then had the hard part of pulling the two back into the van, Marco held onto Star just in case she didn't fall out and soon, the two kids were back inside the van. Jackie was able to steer the van to the left, thus giving Marco enough time to close the back door and lock it before he slumped onto the floor of the van beside Star. Still stressed and frightened by that whole experience, everyone calmed down eventually. "I think we're on the right track to London, Jackie." Marco said in a panicked tone.
"Y-Yeah…" Jackie said while taking a deep breath. "A-Anyway, does anyone wanna listen to some tunes while we're on the way?" She then asked, wanting to brighten the mood. And to her relief, everyone agreed to listen to music as she put a music cd into the radio with Marco and Star climbing back into the passenger seats.
[0:04] Neon Pegasus - Parry Gripp
The song sparked Star's interest "Neon Pegasus?" Star asked in confusion as she looked at Marco. "It's a pretty good song that's done by the same song writer who did the song from the ringtone you love so much." Marco explained, getting Star excited, in fact, she loved the song more than the first one she heard. With everyone calming down, Jackie pulled away from the flight to London and continued on course.
All the while, Miss Heinous and Gemini watched from the balcony below the deck, glaring at the purple van as it zoomed off into the distance. Ever since Star had escaped and she had been humiliated by falling, floating to the top of a tower and even losing the princess of Mewni, she had vowed to hunt her down and get her. "There she is…you still intend to make her suffer, right Miss Heinous?" Gemini spoke, looking up to his superior. "Oh I will…I'll make her suffer, and I'll even do worse when she least expects it." Miss Heinous spoke in a harsh tone not showing any hesitation to show her anger.
Later on throughout the day
The van kept flying on course with the flight to London and the trinity wing flying behind, even as the sun slowly began to sink into the western region of the world. And an hour and a half after it set, it was night time and all the stars were out and about, shining like diamonds in the sky with effort, even the moon was glowing too. Since it was dark however, Jackie had to put the headlights on in the van mainly because she had to make sure other planes wouldn't crash into them.
Pushing on through the night, Tom took over driving the van to let Jackie sleep with the others, who had fallen asleep a couple of hours ago. The downside of this problem was that the demon was struggling to stay awake after a while. In fact, when he first began to get drowsy, Tom actually mistook Dublin Airport in Ireland for London Airport and it was only a miracle that Marco corrected him.
"Well…looks like we're almost there. Just another while and we'll be in London in no time. But then we have to find our hotel, which should be near the Tower Bridge, hide the van and join up with the rest of the class like nothing happened." Marco said, forming a plan, a bit too early, even for him. "Marco, relax…we've had a long drive here, so just save it until we land." Kelly said with a little chuckle.
"What? I'm just planning ahead here, Kelly. There's no harm in doing that, right Star?" Marco said before directing his attention to Star, who answered with both a sad and unsure attitude from the sound of it. "Uh…yeah, of course." She said as Marco caught onto her expression. "Hey…you ok? What's wrong?" He asked in concern. Star tried passing it off, but Marco knew otherwise, even insisting that Star tell him. "Alright…remember when you went to the dance with Jackie…?" She then asked nervously. "I do…why?" Marco asked in confusion.
Swallowing hard, Star mustered the courage to speak about the subject. "It's just…ever since I helped you get together with her…I've been feeling left out. I think that's what's also caused me to leave Earth back then." She admitted, explaining about her jealousy being responsible for the events a while back. "Woah…that's what's bothering you." Marco responded in shock. "Y-Yeah it's true…but I know you weren't trying to be selfish, I know that." Star said, defending Marco despite everything that happened that day.
"Sometimes I thought Jackie was evil…like she was a siren who came into your life and planted false memories into your brain in order to lure and eat you. Don't tell her I said that please." Star admitted jokingly, mainly because she actually had thoughts about exposing her as a monster from Mewni in the past, but she knew that even the thought of it was crazy. "Star…you know Jackie isn't like that. She's just pretty and cool…that's how she's always been in the past. And she even likes you too." Marco said, making a good point about Jackie.
"Although…after you left, Jackie and I…nah, forget that part. I'll explain some other time." Marco said, dismissing that last part. All the while, Jackie listened into the conversation about Star's jealousy and her relationship with Marco. "I wish I could tell you Star…" Jackie said to herself, knowing exactly what Marco was dismissing.
"Right…but the thought about being without you upset me. And after leaving Earth, I…I…" Star cried before stopping to let it all flow freely as she wiped her eyes gently. It was good of Marco and Kelly being there to comfort her. "Sorry Marco…I don't usually like you seeing me like this, but I-" Star wasn't able to finish before being embraced by Marco. "It's ok, just let it out if you need to, Star." Marco said soothingly as Star began to slowly calm down.
A little while after, she had fully calmed down. "Better?" Kelly asked gently with her hand on Star's shoulder. "Y-Yeah…much better now." Star responded with a smile. "Oh good…" The teenage woolett said in relief. "Also, I know this is the last thing you want to hear and I might be wrong about it, but is it true that you actually had a crush on me?" Marco then asked uncomfortably. "Y-Yeah…but I didn't say it because I was worried that if I did say it, I'd destroy our friendship forever." Star admitted worryingly.
"Well other than the fact that most of the students, even Britteny, teased me because of it, nothing will ever destroy what we have together." Marco said with reassurance followed by a chuckle, oblivious to the six missed calls on his phone. "But what about your parents? Aren't they mad?" Star then asked in concern. "C'mon, Star. You saw how glad they were to have you back. They also figured you had a crush on me but they said that you're always welcome under our roof." Marco said with another reassuring sentence.
And it was true, being back under her friend's roof, Star knew that she was feeling more comfortable being back on Earth than Mewni, almost like she belonged there. Feeling a bit better, Star then cuddled in beside Marco and looked at the controls for the van. "So…aside from flying and turning invisible, what other things can the Neon Pegasus do?" She asked, gesturing the controls on the van. "The Neon Pegasus? Are you talking about the van or the song?" Marco asked with a chuckle.
"It's the name I started giving the van after that song I heard." Star pointed out in her usual goofy self. "Ugh, figures. Anyway, like Jackie said, the van's got a turbo boost, which I helped fit into the air conditioning." Marco said, gesturing the controls for the turbo boost, even wanting to demonstrate it as he switched the air conditioning up to max and turned on the button, causing the van to briefly zoom ahead of the plane before he turned it off again.
After showing a few of the van's other features, the two teens began to relax a little bit more and even enjoyed the view too. "I've never seen the stars shine like that for a while." Star said, seeing the glittering stars above the sea of clouds. "I know right…? Just shows you the wonders of space and beyond." Marco said as Star leaned into him. "It kinda reminds me when me and my grandpa used to watch the stars on a hillside in Woolandia. We'd always just sit around and watch them until..." Kelly then said, wanting to talk to the duo a little more, only to stop when she heard that they were strangely being quiet. "Hey, you two listening?" She then asked, feeling a little annoyed.
However, Kelly then looked to see Star and Marco staring at each other all of a sudden, like they were in a trance. Marco had his arm around Star and Star's cheek marks were glowing while she blushed. "Ohh…I see." She said with a bit of a grin slightly pushing Star towards Marco without even knowing. What she didn't expect was for Star and Marco to slowly lean towards each other. Both being oblivious to their own actions and their lips about to make contact, until…
BEEEEP!
The loud beep from the van's horn made the two kids jump in fright and even caused the van to swerve a little before ceasing. Star, Marco and Kelly then looked at Tom, to see him flailing a little as he tried to regain control of the van. "Woah! Sorry, sorry you guys, I thought the horn was a pillow at first." Tom explained sheepishly as he rubbed his head. In doing so, Tom also managed to wake up the rest of the gang onboard the van. "Ugh, what the heck was that?" Pony grumbled, turning towards Tom. "Are we there yet?" Janna asked, getting bored of being in the van already.
"What's the time?" Ferguson then asked after a yawn. "Hey Kells, did we make it?" Tad then asked, floating alongside his girlfriend. "How long were we asleep?" Jackie then said, after getting up and lying about sleeping. "And more importantly, did anything happen?" Janna then asked with a grin. "Nothing too exciting." Kelly said, covering up for Star and Marco after giving the duo a wink. "Yeah…apart from the fact that Star and Marco were about to do the K.I.S.S. It was awkward." Tom then said jokingly with a snicker, making the duo blush with embarrassment.
"Ok, you're obviously too tired to drive. I'll take over from here." Jackie then said, annoyed with Tom embarrassing her two friends and dismissing him while regaining control of her sister's van once more. Tom then went into the back where he finally got a bit of rest for himself many hours later. Jackie then shifted the flight gear down a bit after seeing lights coming from the other side of the clouds below. "Lights…we must be close." She said to herself as the van descended further into the clouds.
Finally, the van flew out of the clouds and the gang saw that magnificent sight of the city they were heading towards: London. "Alright! We made it, you guys!" Marco said, glad to finally be in London after a whole day of craziness. Figuring that their fight to London was going to land in the airport up ahead, the gang took the time to see the sights.
"Wow…and just look at this place. It's totally awesome!" Star said in awe, glad to see a new place other than Echo Creek. "Dude, I can see the Millenium Wheel from here." Ferguson said, pointing towards the giant silver wheel on the bank of the Thames. "I even see Big Ben over here!" Justin said, glancing towards the giant clocktower by the Palace of Westminster. "That's Big Ben? I thought it was gonna be a huge statue?!" Pony said in disgust, even Tom was a little annoyed about seeing the clock tower. "We're still on Earth, what'd you expect?" Kelly pointed out in annoyance.
"So…what's the plan then?" Janna then asked, wanting to know how they were going to pull off trying to sneak in with the other students without being noticed. "Right. All we have to do is find our hotel by the Tower Bridge, park up, hide the van and then when the rest of the class comes, we'll slip in there like nothing ever happened." Marco said, staying calm whilst explaining. "Good plan, and according to the GPS, we'll be there in no time." Jackie said with a warm smile as she continued flying towards Tower Bridge.
While looking at more parts of London below, Star was amazed by the huge city and the sights that were down there. Ohhh she couldn't wait to go down there and see them for herself. "I think I picked a really good time to come back to Earth…" She said with a smile as she leaned into Marco's arm. "Yeah…you sure did. I'm glad we're together again after all this time between Summer and now." Marco said, wrapping his arm around Star's shoulder. "Thanks…call me crazy, but it also sounded like you had a crush on me yourself." Star responded with a chuckle. Marco blushed a little, but didn't know what to say back to Star.
Suddenly, the van's engine began to cough and splutter violently, causing the whole van to shake and go all over the skies of London. Not only that, but the aura that made the van fly was also faltering a little, even the exhaust pipes on the back were literally spitting out dark green goo. Jackie noticed what was going on and tried to steer the van towards the road, but found that she'd lost control of the van all together. "Jackie, what the heck's happening?!" Toby yelped in panic. "I-I don't know! W-What'd I do?!" Jackie then said, also panicking as the van suddenly tilted downward towards the Thames.
"AAAARGH! WE'RE GOING DOWN!" Tad yelled as the van flew past a good many buildings and missed them by inches. "REALLY?! WHAT GAVE IT AWAY?!" Kelly yelled sarcastically as she held onto the passenger seats in the front. Panicking, Alfonzo grabbed ahold of Ferguson and Toby grabbed hold of Ingrid.
"UP, GO BACK UP!" Marco yelped as Jackie tried every function that the van had, but nothing was working. "I CAN'T! NOTHING'S WORKING!" She said in panic as she tried to use the flight lever. Marco and Star tried helping too, but it didn't make a difference. "IT'S STUCK!" Star screamed while she tried to push the lever downwards to make the van go up again. By now, everyone, even Tom, was panicking over the bumpy ride.
"AAAAAH!" Pony screamed as she tried to get herself strapped in. "I WANT MY MOMMY!" Alfonzo screamed, sounding like a baby. "HANG ON YOU GUYS!" Ferguson yelled to everyone for safety. "I DON'T WANNA HANG ON!" Toby said, frantically panicking without hesitation. "MEINE GÜTE! ICH KANN NICHT SO STERBEN!(Translation: OH MY GOODNESS, I CANNOT DIE!)" Ingrid screamed as she hugged Justin, which was weird for her unless she was in a life-or-death situation. "IF WE DE, JANNA, I'M GONNA KILL YOU!" Justin yelled, blaming Janna for something that she didn't do.
"TURN, TURN! LOOK OUT FOR THAT GIANT PLANT!" Tom then yelled, pointing out that the van was on a collision course with what looked to be a gigantic towering plant with a purple flower head, sticking out near the Tower Bridge. Seeing this, Star quickly got out her wand and prepared to cast a spell. "Easy Peasy Time Fre-" Before Star could even finish the incantation, the van suddenly jolted, causing her to accidentally smack her wand off the dashboard with an ear-splitting crack and a red light emitting from the crystal.
Turning the wand around, Star gasped in horror when she saw a huge crack across the gemstone of her family wand. However, it wasn't anything compared to the gigantic plant that they were about to crash into. Everyone screamed as the van suddenly crashed through multiple leaves and branches of the plant, but thankfully they braced for impact as the van landed on one of the branches of the plant sideways despite being on the verge of falling off.
Everyone panicked, making the situation worse when they moved around the van. "WOA! EVERYONE, CALM DOWN! Just-STOP MOVING!" Jackie then yelled to everyone, making them stop in their tracks before they sat on the floor of the van. "Phew…thank you." She then said in relief after placing her hand over her chest. "Everyone just keep calm and stay still. We'll survive if we just stay still." Marco then said, coming up with part of a plan until they found a way to get off the plant.
"Yeah, c'mon you guys, we're totally fine. Unless something heavy, like that overweight guy over there, throws the whole van off balance." Pony said with reassurance before pointing out Ferguson. "Pony, are you serious right now?!" Marco then yelled, calling out Pony for that insult on Ferguson. "Hey! Don't call me overweight, it's not fat, it's power." Ferguson said as he stood up and sat down by the rear van doors.
However, upon sitting down, Ferguson had shifted the weight of the van, causing it to tilt backwards. "Ohhh no, not good!" Tom yelped Tom as he and the others held on for their lives when the van tilled backwards fully and fell off the branch with everyone screaming. The van fell onto many branches before landing safely on another branch sideways with everyone yelling in panic.
Things finally settled down a little bit with Ferguson looking over in Pony's direction. "Ok, but just because you've proven a point doesn't mean that you're entirely in the right." He said with a cross expression. All the while, Kelly tried her best to calm herself and everyone down after what happened. Star on the other hand noticed something which completely freaked her out.
"M-My wand…pegasus feathers, I've broken my wand." She said, upset and on the verge of tears over here wand getting broken. "Oh no…" Marco said in shock when he saw the damage done to the wand. "Ohh, that ain't good." Pony added with a gasp. "No offense or anything, but at least it wasn't your head." Tom stated bluntly, earning a few glares from the rest of the gang in the van. "We'll find a way to fix it, I promise." Marco said, placing his hand on Star's shoulder. "Yeah, it shouldn't be too hard, right?" Kelly then said with a hint of optimism.
"Marco, are you trying to admit you have a crush on Star?" Tom then asked as he and Jackie looked at Star and Marco. The karate kid never got to answer when a sudden bashing on the left side of the van made everyone jump in fright. Frightened by the noise, Star suddenly clung to Marco out of fear. "W-What's happening?!" She squeaked in terror, feeling like she was losing her voice. Normally she'd be prepared to fight any monster, but without her wand…she felt like she was weak.
"I don't know. Don't panic, we'll-" Marco began, only to be cut off by a growling noise. Looking up at the windscreen with the others, Star, Marco, Kelly, Jackie and Tom saw that one of the giant plant's stalks had come to life. "Ohhh, of course…" Tom said sarcastically before the stalk and a lot of other stalks began attacking the van. The attack from the plant had dented the front grille of the van, cracked the headlights, bent the antenna on the front and cracked the windshield in the process as well.
"AAAAH! OK, NOW I'M FREAKING OUT!" Pony screamed whilst suddenly having a melt down of tears. "THIS IS WHY I STOPPED WATCHING AGE OF THE KILLER DAFFODILS!" Alfonzo yelped as the plant continuously smashed up the van. "'IN DECKUNG GEHEN!(Translation: TAKE COVER!)" Ingrid yelled, pointing to the side rear windows on the back of the van. One of the stalks smashed right through both windows at once, nearly hitting Janna and Justin, who both hugged as they yelled.
After retracting that stalk from the van, the plant smashed the back of the van, smashing the rear windows, denting the rear bumper and cracking the spare wheel compartment. The rest of the plant smashed up the van without any hesitation. It broke one of the hubcaps and damaged the other two, leaving only one hubcap unharmed. The leaves then sliced through the van, cutting through the steel under the right rear window and leaving a huge rip on the left side. Even one of the stalks crushed the middle of the van, leaving four dented lines and even breaking off the side door handle too.
The gigantic flowerhead then crashed down on top of the van's roof, breaking the spoiler on the back and breaking the passenger window on the right. It then crashed on top of the roof once again, this time leaving a huge dent in it much to everyone's fright. One of the stalks then hit the back of the van, causing it to slide off down the branch and down towards London City Hall. Everyone screamed as this happened before they crash landed on the pathway near a sign explaining about a ship called the HMS Belfast.
But just when everyone could relax, the gigantic plant moaned and gained everyone's attention, allowing them to see that it was leaning towards them, and was even about to crush them as well. "GUYS, IT'S COMING DOWN!" Tad yelled, stating the obvious yet again. "THIS IS JUST LIKE JACK AND THE BEANSTALK ALL OVER AGAIN!" Toby exclaimed in horror. "JACKIE, COME ON, GO! AND FAST!" Star screamed in fright as Jackie immediately fired up the van's engines and drove away from the gigantic falling plant.
It was a close one, and Jackie didn't think that the gang was going to survive the plant's crushing, but thankfully, the van was able to outmaneuver the stalks, leaves and flowerhead all together before coming to a complete stop outside of one of London's landmarks known as The Scoop. The gigantic plant then retreated back into a hole that it came out of in the first place, leaving no trace of its own existence. After everyone calmed down, Star, Marco, Kelly, Jackie and Tom looked towards each other before chuckling a little bit.
"Ok…at least we're alive and made it to London. So, anyone wanna stretch their legs?" Jackie then suggested awkwardly, knowing that her parents might kill her for stealing her sister's van and damaging it. Everyone was too freaked out to even walk after that traumatic event. In the end, Jackie decided to head out and see if the damages were fixable. But before anyone could do anything, the van's driver and passenger doors suddenly shot open without warning and chucked out Tom and Jackie towards the railings and Star, Marco and Kelly out towards The Scoop.
Tom and Jackie were lucky that they didn't fly over the railings, but with Star, Marco and Kelly, Star had accidentally landed on top of Marco along with Kelly, causing him a lot of pain. "Oh pegasus feathers! Marco, I'm so sorry!" Star said apologetically as she helped Marco to his feet. "I-I'm fine Star…it was only an accident." Marco said reassuringly despite his injuries. "Star, it's alright, Marco knows we didn't mean that. It was the van that-" Kelly began, only to get cut off when the van's middle door suddenly slid open and chucked out the rest of the gang, starting with Janna, then moving onto Tad, Justin, Toby, Ingrid, Pony, Alfonzo and lastly Ferguson.
Ferguson resisted at first, but eventually the van chucked him out and he landed right on top of Alfonzo, who groaned in pain. "Owww…I'm ok." He groaned as Ferguson got off his friend with Marco helping him up soon afterwards. The van's rear doors then opened up and chucked out the gang's luggage, scattering it all over the pavement with their contents scattering over it as well.
As Star got to her feet, the van's passenger seat then chucked out her wand, which Marco managed to catch before it hit the pavement. Jackie's new skateboard was then chucked out and it hit Justin in the face when he tried to catch it. The seat then chucked out a little box that Marco had dropped when the van was being attacked by the plant. It was about to hit the ground, but thankfully Star managed to catch it. "Phew…thanks Star." Marco said in relief as Star gave him back the box despite the curiosity of it attracting her.
However, the curiosity left when he van threw Kelly's family's ancestral sword towards her at full speed, and it was only a miracle that the teenage woolett caught the blade between her two hands. Pony's earphones were then tossed out and acted like a boomerang before hitting the unicorn head. Janna's stuff was then thrown out and caught by Marco before Janna snatched them back immediately. Kelly's book on fighting was thrown out and caught by Tad, who fell to the ground in pain. And lastly, a cage was thrown from the van and was about to fly into the scoop before Tom flew up and caught it.
Upon landing on the ground with the cage, Tom looked into the cage to see a familiar pink rabbit being housed inside. "Marshmallow, are you ok?" He then asked with worry before seeing no harm come to his rabbit. Star and Marco immediately recognised the rabbit, mainly because it was the same rabbit that Tom had on the day when he asked Star to the Blood Moon Ball, the ball that Marco-yeesh, it was all bad memories for Marco. "Dude, you have a rabbit?" Janna then asked with a snicker as Tom tried not to get embarrassed by her teases.
"Ohhh, this is just brilliant. C'mon, let's get everything back on the van and get to the hotel, we're almost there anyway." Marco said, going over to pick up his own luggage along with the others. "Well, at least nothing bad can happen now, right?" Tad then said, being a bit optimistic as he tried getting the luggage into the van, only for the van itself to shut all it's doors and drive off on them by itself. "The van!" Ferguson yelled, desperately trying to chase after the possessed vehicle.
Star, Marco, Kelly, Jackie and Tom chased after the van as it drove away whilst the rest of the gang stayed behind to look after the luggage. "Are you kidding me?!" Tom growled in annoyance, wondering why the van was driving away. Marco and Kelly jumped on the side door in attempts to jerk it open, but it was sealed up tightly by magic. The van then activated it's flight mechanism and flew away, leaving Star and the others far behind, especially by the time the others caught up with them. "Ok…that one's on me." Tad admitted before Kelly facepalmed herself in annoyance.
All the while, Star, Marco and Jackie looked at the van as it continued to fly out of sight. "My parents are gonna kill me." Jackie said, gulping in fright at the consequences that she would have to face as the van continued to fly far away. "We'll have to find it later. Right now, we've gotta get to the hotel and join up with everyone before they notice that we're gone." Marco then said, and nobody said otherwise. Normally Star would've used one of her spells to help, but because of her cracked wand, she decided not to take any risks with cracking it further. For having jinxed everything, the gang decided to make Tad carry all the luggage to the hotel, much to his own annoyance.
Still, the events of what happened today was quite concerning for Marco, and he wondered if they were finally over or if there was something else that was going to happen to the gang.
Oooh dear, what's gonna happen to Star and the others indeed.
