A/N: Thank you for the new story follows.
Olivia spent the rest of her workday and part of the next day packing. With the help of her squad and a few uniforms, Olivia was able to get done faster than just herself. She was also lucky that the moving company moved everything in and unpacked for her so when she finally arrived she didn't have to worry about anything.
Driving 12 hours with a toddler was no walk in the park. Luckily Nevaeh was a sweet and calm little girl. Occasionally grumpy cause she wanted out her car seat but Liv could easily distract her with something to watch on her tablet. Once they arrived she drove through the streets of Atlanta, GA. Olivia wanted to know where it was she was going before her first day of work to avoid that headache. She could tell with this traffic is going to be a long drive.
Finally, after a series of a few turns and exits, Olivia found the precinct. She parked and paused for a moment and looked at it, wondering what it held in store for her. 'Go in Olivia. if you get the introductions done now it'll be easier Monday' she thought. With a steady breath, she got her daughter and went inside.
She stood at the bottom of the steps leading to the building,' Slow your heart down' she thought to herself, 'deep breathes'. Air-filled her lungs as she inhaled a deep breath trying to calm her nerves. Thankfully she had Nevaeh there as her anchor.
Olivia made her way into the squad room and was greeted by a handsome looking fellow.
"Hello," he said with a heavy accent," I'm Detective Nick Amaro. Can I help you?"
"Yes, I'm looking for Captain Mark Jackson," She said looking at his hazel eyes.
"He is in his office. I can show you to him" he said with a smile. He walks to the door and knocks.
"Come In!"
Nick opened the door, "Hey Cap I have a woman here to see you", ushering her inside.
Olivia came into view and Captain Jackson knew right away who she was.
"Ms. Benson! Wonderful you to stop by. I wasn't expecting you until Monday. Thank you Nick, you can go"
Olivia looked at Nick and nodded thanks. "Yes sir, but I figured I stop by before, to find where I was going and meet you beforehand. Am I interrupting?"
"No! Here take a seat. I'm glad you did. This allows us to get right into business on Monday." He glanced at the little girl she was holding, "This must be your daughter Cragen told me about. She is beautiful."
"Thank you. This is Nevaeh. Babygirl say hi." Nevaeh waved shyly at him while clinging to her mom.
Captain Jackson waved, "Nice to meet you. Well Olivia everything is set for you to start Monday. I will have your badge and gun waiting for you one you come in. As Cragen has told you this unit is fairly new so I will be looking to you to take control where you see fit. You'll be partnered with Nick. The other detectives are out at lunch but you'll meet them Monday."
"Sounds great."
"Awesome. Let me introduce you to your partner Nick."
They rise and exit his office. "Nick! This is Olivia Benson. She will be your partner starting Monday. I'll leave you two to talk a little. Ms. Benson, I'll see you Monday."
Olivia stared at the Hispanic hazel-eyed man. "You can call me Benson."
"Welcome. So you are from New York. Big change."
"Yes, but we can handle it. Well, it's meeting you. I must get her home and settled. See you Monday Detective."
"You can call me Amaro," he said with a smirk.
Liv smiled and began to leave "Later Amaro".
As Olivia was walking back to the car she spotted a small coffee shop called 'The Heavenly Café'. Deciding to get a cappuccino, she set Nevaeh down and walked hand and hand to the shop. She knew babygirl was due for a nap soon and walking seemed to speed the process up.
Olivia chuckled softly at how amazed she became at her surroundings, "Maybe they will have an orange juice or hot chocolate for you. Would you like that?"
"Yea!" she chirped.
Soft music greeted them as they entered the cozy little café. "What a lovely place." Olivia smiled with pleasure.
A dark-haired, young woman came to serve them as they sat down at a corner table. "Hi, my name is Morgan, are you new in town?" She asked.
"Umm yes," Olivia hesitated for a moment, and then decided there was no harm in getting to know the locals.
"Well, I hope you like it here. It is such a lovely town," She said gazing dreamily after a good looking blond haired brown eyed guy who had just walked in.
Noticing her love-struck look, Olivia replied, "Yes, I am sure I will."
"Well, what'll it be?" Morgan turned her attention back to Olivia and Nevaeh.
"French Vanilla Cappuccino for me. Baby girl you want OJ or hot chocolate?"
"Chocie!"
"Ok, I won't be a minute." Morgan stuck the bill into her apron and left to get their order.
While they waited for their drinks, Nevaeh played with her stuffed teddy bear, and Olivia glanced around the room.
In the opposite corner from where they sat, Olivia noticed a gorgeous man. She guessed he was probably close to her age. He was drinking coffee and totally immersed in a sports magazine. He took a sip from his coffee and then glanced around the room. He caught her looking and smiled.
Feeling suddenly foolish, Olivia smiled weakly and looked away. She wasn't one that usually let herself stare, but she had to admit he was attractive.
Finally, Morgan came with their drinks. "There you go." She placed them on serviettes. "Is there anything else that I can get you?" She smiled distractedly, trying to keep her eyes on the curly-haired girl.
Clearing her throat, Olivia smiled at her stiffly, "Well if it is not too much trouble, can you please bring my daughter some fries."
Catching her drift, Morgan straightened up and said, "Sure, I'll be back as soon as they are done."
Olivia took a sip of her cappuccino and closed her eyes in pleasure. Her favorite hot drink! "Mmmm, how is your hot chocolate baby girl?" She opened her eyes. Horrified she saw that she was gone from her chair. She jumped up and frantically looked around the room. "Vaeh!?" She called.
Relieved she spotted her sitting with the handsome man reading the sports magazine. Rushing over, she apologized for the intrusion. "I'm so sorry. I only closed my eyes for a moment and she was gone."
"It's ok, she wasn't bothering me. She was looking this way and I waved. I guess she thought it was an invitation." The man laughed.
"Well thank you, thank you for your kindness." Olivia grabbed Nevaeh by the hand ready to march back to their table.
"Wait," He said, "Aren't you going to tell me your name?"
Olivia extended her and smiled sheepishly. "I'm Olivia Benson, and this is my daughter Nevaeh."
His hand was warm and gentle. "Olivia and Nevaeh! Well, I am Elliot Stabler." He laughed, "It's nice meeting you pretty ladies."
"Well Mr. Stabler, we won't take up any more of your time, thank you again for being so understanding."
"It was no problem; she seems like a wonderful little girl."
"She is." Olivia smiled proudly and hugged Nevaeh to her side. "Well, we have to go now, say goodbye to the nice man baby girl"
She raised her hand and waved. "Bye-bye."
"Hey, are you staying in town long?" He asked.
"Actually, yes, we just moved here."
"Well, maybe I'll see you around then." He smiled hopefully.
"Maybe." Olivia returned his smile. Although she thought he was a nice enough man, she knew that she could never really commit herself to see anyone till she was completely over Odafin Tutuola and that she feared; was probably never going to happen.
