AN: I do not own OUAT
I'm so glad to see so many of you enjoyed the last chapter, even if it was shorter then usual. Hopefully, this chapter I can make up for that and make this one longer. And can you believe it...Emma's pregnant! Woohoo!
Chapter 33: Cora Must Be Stopped
Rumple held Belle in his arms, she was crying, she was scared and had no clue as to what was going on.
"Belle, it's going to be okay," Rumple said frantically, he was so frightened for her, and that was saying a lot, the dark one isn't scared of anything unless it means he's losing the ones he loves.
"Who's Belle!?" She shouted back through her tears.
So it was true, crossing the town line did make you lose your memories, and after so long of thinking Belle was dead and then trying to fix himself for her, she was gone, gone in his arms just like that.
"Who are you?!" Belle shouted, trying to get away from him, she was terrified, who was this man she was looking at. She was trying to get away from him, but she couldn't.
"Belle, please it's okay," He tried to hold her but she just kept getting out of his arms. The ambulance and police echoed in the background, they were finally here.
Belle grunted in pain as she was trying to get away from this man, but she was in the most extraordinary pain ever, she was shot and she didn't understand why who would shoot her?
"No, no, L-Let me," Rumple said as he motioned his hand over the bullet hole, his hand glowing a deep purple, "There, all better, good," He said as the bullet wound healed before her eyes, she looked up at him with fear.
"How did you do that?" Belle questioned, there was so much she didn't understand right now.
"It's nothing to be afraid of, "Rumple said, trying to make her feel better, "Belle please."
"What are you!?" Belle shouted as she kicked away from him, what this man did was impossible.
David, Jefferson, Emma and Killian all ran up to them, what had been going on here, everybody was so shocked to see the scene. Snow was left at home with baby Neil and Henry, even if she wanted to come, she couldn't she had to protect the children.
"Are you okay?!" David question as he ran up to Rumple and a frantic Belle.
"I'm at the town line, two people down, maybe three," Emma said into her phone as she stepped out the Sherriff car and looked around, there was so much going on around them, it was overwhelming, "There's a car, pretty banged up with Pennsylvania plates."
"What's going on?" Jefferson asked Rumple.
"It was Cora, She shot Belle, Belle fell over the line, she doesn't remember," Rumple told them as David crouched down to a worried Belle.
Cora, Killian looked over at Emma, his pregnant wife, she was here, just like Archie said.
"Cora? No, Killian and Emma left her in the Enchanted Forest, they beat her," David explained to Rumple, maybe the man was just losing his mind.
Rumple shook his head, "She was here, she second bested them, she got over somehow, and now she's going to destroy everything just like she destroyed my precious Belle"
"It's true, mate, she kidnapped Archie, he escaped and found his way to us, he told us the whole thing, Regina didn't kill him, it was all just a setup, like we first thought," Killian explained to the Prince who was looking up at him confused.
David and Jefferson looked at one another, Cora was here, so now one thing turned into two different things.
Just then the ambulance showed up with three guys jumping out of the rig and running over to them.
"Over here!" David shouted, letting them know there was an injured person with him, and not just any person, Belle, the town's kindest person, or at least was the town's kindest person.
The paramedics were coming over to Rumple, not because he was injured, but just because it was there job to check up on everybody.
Emma looked over at the banged-up car and saw a man sitting behind the wheel, unconscious for that matter, "No, take him first, he can wait!" Emma shouted, telling them Rumple was in no need of any help at the moment, "Ther's someone in there!" She shouted.
As the paramedics helped Belle, David and Jefferson marched over to Emma, and looked at a couple of guys opened the car door and shown a flashlight in the guys' eyes, he was knocked out cold, but the scarier thing was, nobody recognized him.
"Who is he?" Killian questioned, as he looked at the pale male who looked to be in his middle thirties.
"No idea, I've never seen him before," Emma said looking up at him.
"That's because he drove into town, from the outside" David stated, it was the only explanation there was, nobody knew who he was and the way the car skid mars on the road were shown, he had driven in and skid across the road, smashing it up, probably to avoid hitting Rumple.
"Looks like the world just came to Storybrooke," Killian stated looking at Emma who was then frightened. If the world had come to Storybrooke, that would mean the town was in danger of being exposed for what it was.
"E.T.A one minute, repeat E.T.A one minute, please report to the E.R, O.R staff stand by," The intercome said on the speakers as Whale stayed hidden in his office, sipping on scotch as he heard everybody go frantic outside the door.
"Where's Dr. Whale?" One questioned.
"Has anybody see the doctor," Another asked, none of which had any answers for.
"I don't understand what's going on?" Belle cried out as she was being dragged into the hospital, David trying to comfort her.
"Car versus pedestrian, chest trauma from the wheel," One of the paramedics read out to the doctors as they wheeled the man into the hospital on a gurney.
Rumple followed in behind them, "Belle, what's going on here? Belle, what's happening?" He yelled out, as David and Leroy who had met everybody at the hospital tried to block him off from getting to Belle.
"I'd like to know that myself," Leroy said to the frantic man.
"Belle! Belle!" Rumple kept shouting as he tried to get by the blockage, but he failed. Sirens were going, people were shouting, everything was so chaotic.
"Everybody, calm down!" Dr. Whale shouted as he stepped into the foyer, "Mr. Gold, everything will be fine, she's in good hands here, I promise," He said calming down the man.
"We gotta get into his phone, let me guess another passcode," Jefferson said as he peered over David's shoulder, taking the phone from him and looking down at him.
"You can't guess Hatte! There are a million possible combinations!" David exclaimed getting slightly annoyed.
"Ten thousand," Ruby corrected.
"Leroy, can you get it open or something? Hack it?" David asked, knowing her cursed persona was the hospital security guard who pretty much lived in technology.
"Well, you do understand that computer hacking and pickax hacking are different?" Leroy questioned sarcastically, he was a dwarf, not a computer hacker.
Emma squeezed into the group of people with Killian, they had just gotten back from having to get a drink of water, Emma didn't feel like throwing up or passing out at the moment from exhaustion. "Here let me try, and we do know something, there was stuff in his car, rental agreements, maps, receipts," She explained as she hauled out a small USB, plugging it into the phone. "His name is Greg Mendell, now let's see..." and with that, the phone was unlocked, showing all his phone logs, and many pictures.
"Well, there are pictures at a bunch of eastern seaboard tourist locations, a LinkedIn account, and, he tweets pictures of his food," Emma said shrugging her face, "I'll keep looking, but I think what we have here is a well-documented real-life ordinary Joe," Emma said pulling out the USB "Or Greg."
"So, whatever has kept random people from stumbling into Storybrooke for the last eleven years...it's gone, anyone can drive-in," Ruby stated the obvious, scared about what's going to happen once this Greg woke up and saw magic happening in front of him or something that wasn't possible in the real average world outside of Storybrooke.
"Why are my instincts telling me that's a bad thing?" Killian questioned. He just found out he's having a child o the way, if Storybrooke wasn't going to be safe anymore, then they had to get out.
"'Cause you've seen E.T or "Splash" or any other movie where they find something magical and study it to death, think what'd they do to a werewolf," Leroy stated, not meaning to sound rude or anything, he just wanted them to understand what they were up against.
Jefferson wrapped his arm around Ruby, he wanted to protect her from anything bad that may come of this. "Oh, and his friends and family? They're going to come looking for him soon."
"Ok, let's try not to overreact," Killian stated, trying to calm down the group before everybody got to worked up.
"Leroy's right, we don't need outsiders here," David stated, he had a wife, a baby and full-grown women to protect, even if she was full-grown, Emma was still his daughter, he'd stop at nothing to protect his family.
"Look, we don't know where Cora is right yet, and gods knows what she's going to do. With other people coming here, that's not gonna be good for anyone," Emma explained, "We need to find Regina and tell her we know she was framed."
"I've been tracking her, no luck, she's gone underground," Ruby said. If a wolf wasn't able to find her, then lord knows where Regina is or what happened to her, if she didn't want to be found then chances are, she wasn't going to be.
"What if Cora finds her first, love? This couldn't have happened at a worse time" Killian questioned, he knew what happened when the two of them were together, and nobody wanted to see that happen, if it did, the whole town and everybody's lives in it would be destroyed.
"It's okay, the guys being patched up right now, he'll be on his way home by morning," Emma said, trying to calm everybody down from everything that was happening.4
Dr. Whale walked into the room of frantic people, having to break the news to them about their little John Doe...or Greg Mendell. "Not quite. He's bleeding into his chest cavity, it's not a full flood you know, but pretty soon he'll be drowning in his blood."
Emma was confused, why was he even coming out here to tell them this, he was wasting time, "So make it stop! Aren't you a doctor?" She just didn't want this man to die and then his friends and family come looking for him, end up Storybrooke and then find out he died, they would be confused as to why there was never an article released on Greg as to finding his family.
Dr. Whale was out of his comfort zone, ever since the curse broke and he resurrected Daniel he wasn't himself, he did too much damage in his past life. But then he spotted his answer, "Gold." Walking over to the man, he wasn't very confident, he just hoped Gold would help him, "You fixed me, now fix him, it will take a few seconds and cost you nothing."
Everybody watched from behind Whale, was Rumple going to help a man who nearly ran him and his love over, for whom was from the outside and risked a threat to them all.
"No," Rumple immediately said, turning around to walk away.
No, just...no?" Whale asked shrugging his shoulder, what else could he expect from the dark one?
"I owe you nothing, Whale, I owe none of you nothing!" Gold grunted turning around and facing the entire group, "But some of you, owe me, so, yeah, just...no" He said looking at Emma, who still owed him for letting Ashley aka Cinderella have her baby. "Oh, and point of interest...the driver? He saw me throwing some magic, so instead of trying to get him out of here, you better be hoping he dies, because if he doesn't, he's gonna be driving tour buses up and down Main street," Rumple explained, "So glad I don't give a damn!" And with that he walked away, getting away and trying to forget about everything that had just gone on.
Whale sighed and turned around to looked at everyone once again, he only had one thing that could fix this all for them, "Look, letting him die is easy, I can do that if that's what you decide."
Emma was shocked and looked around at everyone, she felt sick to her stomach, and not just because she was pregnant, yes she didn't want this man to find out what they were, but they weren't murderers, were they? "Let's take this somewhere private."
Rumple stood over where Belle was resting, she was asleep with wires coming out of her body, telling the nurses and doctors what her heart rate was and everything that was going on with her. He wished so badly that she wasn't there at the town line with him and that all of this didn't happen.
He walked over to her bedside, and looked down at her beautiful resting face, she was relaxed, not like when he had last seen her and she was freaking out about him, he wanted to wake her, and not just from her sleep but this curse.
Looking down and he lowered his body down to become closer to her face. True loves kiss, he was going to try it, even though, deep down he knew it would never work, he loved Belle with all his heart, but did he?
When he became almost nose to nose with her he slightly tilted his head and placed a slow but meaningful kiss on her lips, but nothing. There was no flicker of magic leaving their lips, or even the slightest bit of confirmation that anything happened than just a regular kiss. He sighed after his attempt had failed.
But when he saw her eyes slicker, he had hope, hope that it did work, but when a scream came from her lips, he knew it didn't.
"No, no, no, no, no, I-I'm sorry, I'm sorry," Rumple pleaded as a team of nurses rushed into the room trying to calm Belle as her monitor beeped out of control. "I'm sorry," He said once again as he left the room, feeling terrible for what he had done.
"It's not murdering if we let him succumb to his injuries," Whale stated as he opened up the door to a smaller and more private area of the hospital.
"I'm pretty sure it is," Emma said as she walked into the room after Killian.
"Of course we save him," David said.
"Well..." Leroy said, about to object to everybody else.
"Leroy!" David exclaimed.
"We gotta think it through, if we save him and kill the whole town, is that better?" Leroy questioned them, he was only thinking about what was best for the entire town.
"So we have to choose between our lives and his?" Ruby stated, she understood where he was coming from, she didn't want to be hooked up to machines and have tests on her body.
"We can worry about the town later," David issued, he didn't want to kill such an innocent man.
Emma stepped in, "Which doesn't mean we should abandon him."
"I think what your father is trying to say, love, is let's worry about Storybrooke after we save a life," Killian told his wife. He didn't necessarily agree with David, hell, he would have rather let this man die if that meant his family would be safe from all others. "Dr. Whale, prep for surgery."
The doctor walked out of the room, the butterflies starting to flutter in his stomach, he was going to do surgery on somebody, something that never went right for him. His patients always ended up dead.
"Anyone else notices he's drunk off his ass?" Jefferson stated as everybody looked at him as the room went silent, but that silence was soon over when Greg's phone starts to ring with the Star Wars theme song.
Emma looked down at the phone as it rang, the contact name 'her'. "Someone's looking for Greg, how long before they come here?" Everybody went quiet, this wasn't good for anybody in Storybrooke.
Rumple was back at his shop, he picked up the small chipped teacup that he held so close to his heart and placed it ever so carefully back into the glass enclosure where he kept many of his possessions. When he heard a small bell chime, he walked over to his door and peered out of the window, he didn't see anybody, so when he turned around and saw a large box sitting on his counter that wasn't there before, he was shocked as to whom had put it there, walking over he examined the box, he didn't recognize it.
"Hello, Rumple," A voice from behind him said.
Spinning around he knew who it was, how could he forget her after what she had done to him, "Cora...after what you just did, you think it's a good idea to show your face around here!"
"Aw, the crocodile snaps at the little bird, and after I brought you a little gift," Cora said pointing to the large box.
"Well, I sure hope you brought the antidote too," He said knowing Cora enough to know her little tricks.
She chuckled, "Oh, Rumple, it's a peace offering."
"You took Belle away from me! Why on Earth would I want anything from you!" Rumple shouted, gripping the top of his cane harder than usual.
Cora smiled and looked down at the ground before looking back up at Rumple, "Because this is the only thing that's going to lead you to your son."
Rumple nodded, he didn't once believe her, "And what do you want for this uh, peace offering?" There was always something she wanted, she was like him, didn't do anything for anybody unless she got something out of it.
"My daughter, you were so clever to get her to lay the curse so you could come here, you don't need her anymore, let me try to get her back and let us live," Cora said, she wanted her daughter back so badly.
Rumple was angry, he couldn't believe this woman would try to kill his Belle and then come back pleading he reunites her with her daughter, has she gone mad? "And what do I get out of this?"
"Like I said, your son," Cora said, looking over at the large box she left on the counter.
Rumple went and looked over at the box, he wanted to belive this was something that would bring his son back to him, but Cora was a tricky person. Opening up the box he paused at what he saw.
"You know what that is, Of course," Cora said as she watched him.
"It'll find him...if this one truly is it," Rumple said turning back around, he knew of many times where something seemed like it was the real thing but it wasn't
"Oh darling, I have to reason to cheat you, "Cora chuckled as she approached him. "I just want you to find the one person in this universe that might still love you, after all, I'm doing the same thing."
"Belle loved me, and look what you did to her," Rumple grunted.
"She was holding you back, we both know that you would have returned to Storybrooke for her, even if you didn't find your son because she is too much of a weakness to you," Cora explained, but she knew it wouldn't help him be any less angry with her, "So, will you accept my offer of truce?"
Rumple thought about it, yes, he would have returned to Storybrooke without his son if it meant he would be back with Belle, but now she was gone, and he had nobody, there was no way to return her memories, not anymore at least, he only had one thing to do, find his son, "Truce," they shook on it and the deal was done.
Whale had hidden in a less populated part of the hospital, just so he could be alone for a quiet moment, but it didn't last long when David came around the corner.
"What's that?" David questioned as he saw the doctor looking down at something, something shiny.
"Oh it's just the guys' personal effects, I get the best watches this way," Whale said as a joke as he made David chuckle, It's too bad it's cracked."
"I thought you'd be scrubbing in by now?" David questioned as he knew the doctor was supposed to be trying to save this man's life.
Whale nodded, "Yeah, yeah I'm gonna do that."
David could see Whale was hiding something, but what was it? Something just didn't seem right to him, "Arm alright?" He questioned knowing it wasn't long ago that it was just ripped off and put back on his body again by magic.
Whale knew what he was asking, his arm was just a cover-up, "I'm not drunk," Whale statted.
"Alright, well, let's just save this guy alright? I don't care what he saw, we don't let go of people," David said getting up closer into this man's face.
Whale nodded, "Right," He understood, he just didn't think he could save this guy's life.
They were all out in the foyer again, the phone rang once more, it was the same person, 'her'.
"Probably a girlfriend," Ruby said as she looked down at the phone, "We could answer it and just let her know that he's okay."
"He's not okay though," Emma said, the man was pretty much drowning in his blood.
"He's alive, we could let her know he's alive," Ruby suggested, she was trying to make the best out of the possible worse.
"Nah, the police could trace it here instantly," David said.
Emma knew about all the possible outcomes and none of them were any good then the last, "She can activate the find my phone thing, without us picking it up at all" Emma said to David, pretty much no matter what they did somebody could trace this man to Storybrooke.
"Oh my nerves can't take this, is the surgery almost over?" Ruby complained, she wanted to know if this guy was alive and well enough to leave or if he was dead and they would all have to find a way back to the Enchanted Forest.
"I-I think it takes..." Emma couldn't finish her sentence because before she could one of the nurses on the case cane turned around the corner but he seemed anxious because he instantly started to walk back in the other direction, "W-w-whoa, wait, wait, any news?" Emma asked as she stopped the nurse.
"No, I was just looking for the doctor," The nurse told them, meaning one thing.
"He's not in the O.R.?" Ruby questioned, as everybody looked around confused.
The nurse shrugged, "Never went in."
"Then page him!" Emma said angrily, why wouldn't they page Whale when he was booked for surgery and never went in? This guy's chest was filling up by the minute.
"Calm down love," Killian told his wife, he didn't want her to stress and then stress out the life that her body was creating inside her.
"He wasn't looking too good earlier," David said, referring to the conversation they just had about half an hour ago.
They watched as the nurse went to the pager and paged Whale, they all heard a loud beeping, they thought when they turned their heads they would see the doctor coming around the corner, reporting for duty but instead it was the laundry basket that the doctors put their soiled scrubs.
Killian went a dug through the basket immediately finding the pager that Whale must have thrown away because he didn't want to do the surgery. "He's gone."
Everybody was worried, where did he go to when they needed his most, everybody was pretty sure he didn't have cases like these when they were all cursed.
"Here, let me try," Ruby said as she grabbed the scrubs and started to sniff them.
"Got the sent?" Killian asked the wolf.
"Boozy," Ruby said as she scrunched up her face.
"Just find him and bring him back, we'll figure out options if Whale doesn't come back," Emma told them as they started to walk through the hospital, trying to pick up Whales scent.
"Maybe doc can do it?" David questioned, just trying to help them figure out what to do.
Leroy started to laugh, he thought David was joking around, he must have been, "Surgery," he said with a chuckle before he realized that he wasn't joking around, David thought doc could perform on this man, "No."
"Maybe he didn't even run, maybe Cora grabbed him for some reason," Jefferson stated, knowing that Cora was in town and was probably just playing a mean trick on them.
David shook his head, "I don't think so, he's been in a rough place since he brought Regina's finance back to life."
"Back to life?" Killian questioned with an arched brow, "Just what happened while we were gone, mate?"
"And had his arm ripped off and put back on," David finished explaining.
"wait. Daniel, came back? Like some kind of Frankenstein?" Emma questioned, remembering the story that her mother told her about how Regina was supposed to run away with the stable boy instead of marrying her father.
"That's Whale, the doctor," David finished explaining as Emma and Killian was still in shock about a guy who had been dead for longer than they had been alive coming back to life.
"Okay, we'll get going, and we'll bring back...Dr. Frankenstein," Jefferson said, as he and Ruby started walking off to try and find this doctor.
"We're gonna send this guy back home with bolts in his neck," Emma said as she watched the wolf and Hatter march off.
"They'll find him, love," Killian stated as he placed his hook on her shoulder and hand on her belly, letting her know he was protecting them both.
"But what kind of state is he gonna be in?" Emma questioned knowing Whale had been drinking earlier.
Cora knew where her daughter was, but she also knew there was nowhere Regina was going to let her in if she knew who she was, so that's why she disguised herself to look like somebody that she appreciated. Henry. She knew all about the little boy and how he felt like he was her son, but really he wasn't he was the baby that was born when she cased her spell, and maybe that's why she was so obsessed with him.
She also knew that her daughter brought her vault over, so that's where she went, thinking that's where she would be. "Regina?" She called out sounding just like the boy, she called out multiple more times hoping that she would answer, but then a secret door opened.
"Henry?" Regina said as she saw the young boy walking through, how did he know she would be here? "I'm so glad to see you, I just want you to know that I had nothing to do with Archie."
"I know, I always knew," Cora who was pretending to be Henry said.
"I was framed, I don't know-how. I...it just seems like everything..."Regina was trying to explain herself but something caught her off guard, "You knew? How did you know"
"Simple," and then a puff of purple smoke circled the boy, turning the young boy into Cora, "Because I did it."
Regina couldn't believe her eyes, "Mother." Why was she here? She thought they left her back in the Enchanted Forest. "How are you here? I thought we stopped you from coming through."
"Determination, I had to see you, I needed to tell you, that I know why you sent me through the looking glass," Cora started remembering the day of her daughters' wedding when Regina pushed her through the looking glass and had her trapped in Wonderland for all those years, "And its's all right."
"I think it's not all right," Regina said to her mother.
"I love you, I just, I've always shown it in all the wrong ways, and I never should have made you marry the king, I'm so sorry," Cora apologized to her, she felt terrible for all the terrible things she made her daughter go through and she just wanted to make it all up to her.
"You framed me for the cricket," Regina said through tears as a small sniffle came out.
"Temporarily, so you could see what these people think of you," Cora told her.
"You made an airtight case, anyone would believe it," Regina told her mother, she could feel the tears burning behind her eyes.
"I didn't want you to reject me, not again," Cora explained.
Regina shook her head, she knew better than, to believe her mother, "You wanted me broken, you are the most manipulative..." She couldn't finish, this is what her mother wanted, "No, I won't even argue, come with me, we're going to town," She stated as she started to walk towards her office door.
"It's the middle of the night," Cora told her daughter.
"I don't care, we'll wake them up, Emma and Killian and the two idiots and you can tell them how you lied, you owe me that," Regina explained to her mother, she wasn't gonna go down for something that she didn't do.
"And then you'll let us start over?" Cora questioned, she wanted to try again with her daughter.
"I don't see that happening mother," She truthfully told her, why would she want to start over with a woman who ruined her life and would constantly make her life into something she didn't want. She never wanted to become the Evil Queen and if her mother would have just let her run off with Daniel then she never would have become that person. "But I am...I was trying so hard to prove myself to everybody that I changed, and I deserve the same thing from you."
"You're right, for you, sweetheart," Cora said, but of course she didn't mean it, she knew Regina wouldn't let those Charmings or whatever they call themselves now take her down.
Whale, was standing on the pier, on the edge looking down at the water as he looked at the watch he smuggled from Greg's belongings.
Ruby and Jefferson were walking by, they were hot in his trail, could smell the booze just coming off of him. "Dr. Whale?!" Ruby exclaimed as they saw him standing above the water.
"Don't come near me!" Whale shouted from a distance as he threw the watch into the Ocean, hearing a splash with it, not a second later he jumped, waiting to feel the cold water on his skin, but he never did as Ruby had used her super speed and grabbed him by the collar before he ever could reach the water.
"What do you think you're doing?" Jefferson asked the man as Ruby pulled him up and threw him onto a bench.
"I can't do this! I can't pretend I'm somebody that I'm not!" Whale exclaimed, "I'm nothing but a monster."
"That's not true," Ruby told him, "You're the town doctor, you save lives," Ruby told him, trying to make him feel better.
"I also destroy them," Whale told her, "Look what I did to Regina, I brought her fiance back, but he was a monster, she would have been better off if I didn't do that."
"But that's our life now, we're different then people on the outside, if somebody dies out there, there's nothing they can do while you put new hearts into their bodies and make them live again," Jefferson told him, remembering the time the doctor stole a heart from Regina, pretending it failed in her fiance.
Whale shook his head, "I just wanted people to know my name, but everyone just thinks it's the name of a monster," Whale chuckled, "I guess they're right about that. Rumpelstiltskin says that magic has a price, but from where I'm sitting, it seems that science does too. Every time I try to save a life, someone else dies."
"Hey, yeah. Look you're Frankenstein, and I'm the werewolf," Ruby said as she sighed, "I ate my boyfriend."
Jefferson chocked on his spit from her words, "You done what now?!"
Ruby rolled her eyes, that wasn't a story she wanted to get into right now with him, "Regina thought she was punishing us by erasing who we were, but I think she underestimated how much crap we wanted to forget. But...we can't let it stop us, she gave us a chance to start over, and I wanna take it, I think you should too," She told him, hoping that her words were making him feel better.
"You know, I wasn't such a bad guy, you know, I wanted to bring life back, but he never got over our mother, if I could've just brought her back..." Whale spoke, he was going to say if he was able to bring his mother back, his father would have been more pleased with his work, and maybe wouldn't have been killed by his monster brother that he brought back instead.
"that guy in the hospital...somebody keeps calling him. Maybe a wife, a mother. Maybe there's still some stuff you can fix," Ruby said, trying to boost this doctor's mood up so he could get over something he had no control over and at least try, at least try to bring back a man so the hearts of his loved ones could be saved.
Whale agreed he would go back and help this man before it was too late, he was a doctor after all who brought the dead back to the living. He was going to try so a family wouldn't have to go through the suffering that he went through with his.
Ruby, Jefferson and Whale marched into the hospital, Whale finally got over his delusions after talking to Ruby, she made him see a better side of things.
Emma gasped "You're back, finally." Everybody who was waiting stood up, did this mean the doctor was finally going to operate?
"I don't know why everyone's so worried, I was just stretching my legs, now I'm gonna go do this thing," Whale told them as he walked off, they probably all knew he was lying but he had to make himself look better.
Regina was bringing Cora to Emma, she was going to confess for what she had done.
"Nervous?" Regina asked her mother as she looked over at her from the driver's seat, her mother seemed to be fiddling and not talking, she only ever done that when something was bugging her.
"Not about owning up to what I've done," Cora answered her, "It's just...these carriages are strange," She said talking about the car she was in, of course where she was living all her life the only carriage they had was one that moved with horses.
"Well these carriages are called a car, its how we use it to get around," Regina answered her mother sternly, not taking her eyes off the road.
"And you can just do this without people hiding from you like they used to..." Cora mentioned to her, "I know all about the pain you caused Regina, people were frightened of you, they couldn't stop you from doing what you wanted."
"Well mother, I've changed," Regina told her truthfully.
"Well let's be honest you taking be to be pilloried by the town might gain you some points, but as long as the pirate, Emma and her parents are here, people will always be scared of you, they see you like a snake...so tell me, what do you want?" Cora asked her daughter, knowing full well about what she wanted.
Regina looked out the window at the road, her eyes tearing up, after everything she did to get everyone here she only wanted the entire reason they were all uncursed again, "I want Henry." She always wanted children, but because of her mother, she was no longer able to have a child of her own.
"And I want my daughter back," Cora told her, "I meant everything I said earlier, I am so sorry, I can do better, I won't push you away again," She said as she saw her daughter tearing up, "Let me into your heart, together, we can get Henry for you."
"He wouldn't ever come to me, mother, he has his parents," Regina said as she leaned onto her mother's shoulder. After all the years she tried to put everybody in pain and then releasing the curse just moments before Emma went into birth, she thought that Emma would have the baby and then the baby would also be cursed by growing up in a foster home, never getting adopted, at least that's what she had planned for him, but after seeing the young boy and knowing he saw good in her, she wanted nothing but to have him to herself, as her son, but she knew that would never happen because he wasn't hers.
"Oh, I have a few thoughts," Cora said as she hugged in her daughter thinking about all the pain they were going to inflict on everyone in this town, especially Emma and her family.
Ruby and Jefferson were talking in the corridors of the hospital when they saw Whale walking towards them.
"Where are they?" Whale questioned as he looked around for the bigger group.
"Getting coffee from the machine, what's the verdict?" Jefferson questioned, wanting this whole night to be over so he could hurry back home to be back with Grace and know she was safe and sound.
"He's going to live," Whale told them proudly, he did it, he saved a life.
"You did it?" Ruby asked with a smile as Whale nodded, "You did it!"
"Thank you, monster to monster," Whale told her proudly as everyone else came running around the corner.
"He's gonna make it?" David asked as he had heard Ruby yelling from down the hall.
"he's got some recuperating ahead of him, a few weeks maybe, but yes, he's going to live," Whale explained to him with a smile on his face and confident posing, crossing his arms.
Leroy still wasn't very pleased with everyone's decision, "Telling you right now, this will come to no good."
"Quiet Leroy," Killian spat.
"I want to talk to him," Emma declared, she had been waiting all night to talk to this man, alive, hopefully, get some closure that he didn't see Mr. Gold throwing any magic.
Whale nodded, "He's waking up now."
Ruby seemed confused, this man was waking up now when Whale just told them, "Already?"
"I waited a couple of hours to tell you in case he, you know, keeled over, but so far, so good," Whale nodded.
"Alright then, well let's go talk to him," David declared as he began to walk away but was stopped by his daughter.
"We're not talking to him as a group," Emma told them, "We're not a group-sheriff, we're trying to convince this guy this place is normal, in a normal town, the sheriff goes in and askes a few questions, she doesn't bring her father and husband in with her." She explained, hoping they all would understand.
"That's probably true," David said, realizing how weird it would be for all of them to walk into that room.
"We'll be waiting right here then, love," Killian said with a smile as Emma walked away.
Emma walked into the large room where the man had been resting, he still looked exhausted and confused, who wouldn't, waking up in a hospital in a town they didn't know.
"Nurse?" Greg said in a tired tone.
Emma walked to the foot of his bed, holding a small bag of the man's things, "Sheriff Jones, actually, I have your personal effects," She said bringing the bag over to the nightstand and setting it down, "So, Mr. Mendell, I wanted to talk to you about the accident."
"Did I hit somebody? Oh, my god, I hit someone, is he okay" Greg said, immediately starting to freak out, remembering seeing a man in the road before he crashed and passed out.
Emma tried to calm him down, "Don't worry about him, I mean...the damage was pretty minor."
"Oh thank god," Greg said looking up at the ceiling, relieved he didn't kill anybody.
"But I do need you to state what happened, in your own words, what you did, what you saw," Emma told him, trying to see if this man saw a man holding a ball of fire in his hands.
Greg looked around, trying to push himself up, "Well I...I didn't see anything."
"Well, you were driving," Emma told him, he had to saw at least something if he was driving to the rules of the road.
"Yeah, but," Greg sighed, there was more then what he was saying, "I saw the road, of course..."
"I just think I might be able to put your mind at ease, there might be an explanation if you saw..." She herself wasn't doing a very good job at acting like a regular sheriff, she was almost just admitting there was something strange about this town.
"I was texting," Greg finally spat out, telling her what he was doing the time of the accident, "I looked down, for a quick second, and when I looked back up, he was...he was right there, I thought a saw a girl with him too, I know that it's not legal in Maine" He explained.
"It's okay, I'm just glad that you were honest with me," Emma told him, looking down at him.
"So no charges?" Greg asked the last thing he needed was to get a fine.
Emma stood quiet for a second as she looked down at him, "No, no charges," She saw the relief hit Greg, he was happy, "I will let you go with a warning this time."
"Oh thank you," Greg said happily, "So when can I head home?" He asked, wanting to get back to his family.
"As soon as the doctor clears you, we don't wanna keep you," Emma said with one last smile as she then walked out of the room, having Killian standing right outside the door, fiddling with his hook, like that wasn't going to be strange to the man if he saw.
"So, what is it, love?" He asked.
"He didn't see anything, free and clear," Emma said with a smile.
Killian smiled, "That's fantastic, so now maybe we can actually get a moment to enjoy our selves and the celebrate a little?" He asked as he looked down at her small belly that in a few months would be bursting with life.
Emma smiled, "Killian, we still don't even know if the test was wrong, it could have been a false reading."
"That's why he asked me to do an ultrasound," Whale said stepping out of the room beside them.
Emma looked at her husband, "Seriously?" When everyone was worried about their lives coming to an end, he was making plans to see if a new life was starting inside her, but instead of arguing with him, she just went into the room and laid down. They were already at a hospital and they have been stressing all night, so what would a little bit of time to themselves to just relax hurt.
"So, was this planned?" Whale questioned as he pulled Emma's shirt up just enough so he could place some gel on her stomach, having both the saviours look at him, knowing he should probably just stay quiet and give them the news. Clearing his throat he looked at the screen and scanned around Emma's little belly, at first he didn't see anything but then looking closely, there was something there.
"What is it?" Emma asked, a little nervous about the doctor not speaking. She knew it, she wasn't actually pregnant, it was just her body acting up since the curse broke, giving her false readings.
Whale turned the screen so they could look at it, "You see this here?" He asked as he drew a circle on the screen having them nod, "Well that is your uterus, and this small dot here...that is your baby."
Emma was shocked, she never got to see that before, even with Henry, they never had such a thing in the Enchanted Forest. "So we do have something in there."
"Our little bean," Killian told her with a smile. They were going to try to make things as normal as possible so that even if they weren't in their proper home, everything was still going to be okay.
Everyone was exhausted, they had just arrived at Snow and David's house and they all didn't want anything but to go to sleep.
"Where were you guys all night? Grandma wouldn't tell me anything," Henry said as he sat at the table with his parents.
Emma laid her head on the table, "There was an accident and we just had to deal with it, now all I want to do is go to sleep."
Just then a knock was at the door, as David went to open it Rumple stepped through, still looking pissed than ever after just losing his Belle.
"Rumple, we've all had a long night," Emma said as she could feel all her energy lowering by the second.
"You remember the favour you owe me, I'm cashing it in," Gold said not a second after entering into the home.
Emma was surprised, after all this time he was deciding now would be a good time for them to do this. "You know it's not actually a good time Gold...I just found out I was pregnant." She didn't realize what she had said until it was too late, she wanted to wait for a good time to let it out and this wasn't a good time.
Everybody was shocked, did they all hear her correctly.
"Emma, are you really?" Snow asked as she came over holding a sleeping Neil in her arms.
"I'm going to be a big brother?" Questioned Henry.
Emma nodded, the truth was out, there was no lying now.
Gold didn't care, he had lost everything in his life that a pregnancy wasn't that big of a deal anymore, it wasn't like they were the Enchanted Forest and a curse was coming and the baby's name depended on saving all their lives because that already happened once. "You do honour your agreements, don't you? I need to find someone, we're leaving today."
"Leaving, where?!" Killian questioned, his wife wasn't going anywhere with the dark one and not him to make sure she wasn't safe.
"Wait, find someone, who?" Emma questioned, who could he possibly be going to find out there in the real world.
"My son. And if has to be today because every minute I'm here is just another minute I'm trying to get Belle her memories back when it's pretty much impossible, oh an dif anything happens to Belle while I'm gone, I'm killing all of you," Gold threatened as then walked out of the house.
Emma looked up at Killian and everyone looked around at one another when they thought they could just relax it all came crashing down and they were all expected to just go with it, the heroes never got a break before so why would they now? Even if one of them was pregnant and just wanted to eat and sleep.
Boom! Another one finished! I hope you enjoy it guys, I made this one much longer than the last one, so I made up for that. I'm not sure when I'll get around to posting the next one considering my fathers birthday is today and then I work every day until next Friday when it's my birthday and we're going out of town for the weekend, but I'll make sure to post it as soon as possible. Thank you guys so much!
