Chapter 2: Rest and Music Madness
"Marshall!" Ryder exclaimed as he grabbed his pup as the Dalmatian fainted. After about thirty minutes, Marshall felt fine.
"I'm ready Dr. Wolff, " Marshall told the doctor.
"Okay Marshall. We'll get you ready," the doctor said. Marshall was rolled away and given medicine so the pain wouldn't be as bad. Afterwards, Marshall's stomach hurt, and he would need to stay for a week to make sure the shots worked in his body.
"I'm come back tomorrow Marshall," Ryder told his pup as he scratched his head.
"Okay, goodnight Ryder," Marshall replied. Upon exiting the vet, Ryder noticed the sun was going down, so he drove back to The Lookout in his ATV. The pups all rushed over to greet him.
"Ryder! How did it go? Is Marshall okay?" Chase asked both curiously and concerned. Ryder suddenly gave the pups a serious look.
"Yes, Marshall will be okay. However, from now on, I will be supplying gloves, and other equipment for animal rescues. In addition, Marshall will be at the vets for a week. But even when he gets home, he will need to rest for another week. I don't want you pups bothering him much. Understand?" Ryder explained. The pups all nodded.
"Good, now let's go have dinner," Ryder said before they all headed inside.
Back at the vet, Marshall slept peacefully. However, he was restricted to his bed and had to rest. No Pup Pup Boogie or any active moving. This also meant no rescues.
"So boring! I need to entertain myself somehow!" Marshall said despite the day going by fast. Luckily, the Dalmatian had books to read, a TV, and a CD player. Deciding to do something simple, Marshall put in a CD from a set he was given. Now he just had to lie down, rest and -
"HELP!
I NEED SOMEBODY,
HELP!
NOT JUST ANYBODY,
HELP!
YOU KNOW I NEED SOMEONE,
HHHEEEEELLLLPP!"
the music blasted loud as the song played. Marshall covered his ears at first, then looked for the volume button to turn it down, only to press the "next" button.
"JOY TO THE WORLD, THE LORD HAS COME!
LET EARTH RECEIVE HER KING!
LET EVERY HEART, PREPARE HIM ROOM
AND HEAVEN AND NATURE SING, AND HEAVEN AND NATURE SING
AND HEAV -EN AND HEAV -EN AND NATURE SING!"
"It's not Christmas! Turn down!" Marshall commented, desperately trying to turn the sound off or down so it wasn't so loud! Luckily, he found the right button, and adjusted the volume. Afterwards, he put the headphones on and decided to listen to some calm nature sounds.
"Much better," Marshall commented as he rested, listening to the musical sounds of a waterfall. Soon, after listening to the music, it was late. Marshall turned off the CD player and went to bed.
After a good night sleep, it was morning, but the Dalmatian was still asleep. Marshall tossed and turned, but as he did, he accidentally turned the CD player on, and his paw slid on the volume setting, suddenly making the light peaceful volume blasting up to concert loud!
"HALLELUJAH! HALLELUJAH!
HALLELUJAH! HALLELUJAH!
HALLELUJAH! HALLELUJAH!"
"Woah! What the?!" Marshall exclaimed, waking up with a startle. A pillow covered his face so it took a while before Marshall could locate the sound. After getting the pillow off, finding the CD player, he quickly turned it off, before hearing a giggle. Marshall turned to see a nurse with a tray approaching him. The pup turned red with embarrassment.
"I'm sorry! I didn't mean to make so much noise!" Marshall apologized, feeling bad about his musical interruption.
"No worries. I brought you Breakfast," the nurse replied before putting down a tray of food for the pup. The meal was pancakes, water, and scrambled eggs.
"Thank you," Marshall replied with a smile.
"You're welcome. The doctor will be in after you finish eating," the nurse told him. She then left the room, and Marshall began to eat his pancakes.
