Can you tell that I've been playing Master Duel for a while now which has been partially inspiring this story? Regardless, lets get into the chapter, I've noticed that the shorter I make these A/N's the quicker I get through the actual chapter.

P.S Well, that was embarrassing. Here's the actual chapter, sorry for the mix up. I need to get some sleep

"Remember to have fun honey, U.A or not it's still high school, you should enjoy your time there while you still can. Ah, and don't forget to grab that new belt you made." Inko called out to her son while throwing him a specially made belt which he caught with ease, eight pouches evenly spaced around the item.

"Thanks mom, and I'll try. Though I have a feeling that today I won't have much time for fun, even if it's just a half-day." It was U.A after all, he couldn't afford to let his guard down so quickly. "You shouldn't worry though, after all, I have the best backup there is." Izuku replied, his spirits kicked up a bit of wind at the compliment.

Entrance to class 1A

"Big. Yeah, if I had to describe U.A with a three-letter word it would be big. Even the doors, though I guess some quirks make it a necessity." Izuku said, a bit nervous about entering. Eventually, though, he took a breath to brace himself and pushed open the door to see-

Emptying out his lungs in a deep sigh Izuku caught the attention of the bickering blonde and blue-haired boys that he had varying degrees of familiarity with. "Don't bother trying to argue with him Iida-san, we've been trying for years with little to no success." We being Izuku and whoever was brave enough in Aldera.

"Tsk, you should follow his advice. And Izuku, don't think that just because you took first place this time means that it's over! I'll crush you and prove just who the next number one hero is going to be, got that!" Katsuki stated to the class, most of them ignored him, though some found his confidence impressive.

"Looks like I got the right place, and we already have a rivalry brewing! I thought this would happen eventually but not so soon. Hey Midoriya, I guess we're in the same class. And Iida's here too, cool!" And Uraraka was there too. Izuku was starting to think that something more than coincidence influenced the class layout. Or maybe he was spending too much time on bogus magical lore websites?

"If you've come here to goof off and make friends then leave." A human caterpillar somehow snuck up on everyone, probably due to how loud they were being but it was still impressive. "This is the hero course, act like it or get out. I'm your homeroom teacher Shouta Aizawa, pleased to meet you. Now put on these uniforms and meet me outside. Don't make me wait."

Just as quickly as he arrived their supposed homeroom teacher left the stunned class 1A. "Well, that happened. Does anyone know where the changing rooms are? Or are we just supposed to…You know." It only took Mineta five seconds of speaking to mark himself as someone to be ignored.

"Come on, I saw a few bathrooms on my way up here, those should be fine right? I don't know about you guys but I'd rather not annoy our teacher on the first day." Izuku was the first to walk out, being closest to the door. He also made sure to not go too far until Iida followed along so that his classmates knew where to go.

Minutes later, U.A courtyard

"Good, you got here quicker than I expected. Midoriya, you'll set the example." He chose the green-haired boy for his display of versatility during his entrance exam. His quirk would either give the other students a show of how they needed to be creative with their respective powers…Or it would show them what not to do, either way, Aizawa didn't really care.

"Throw this ball as far as you can. You can do whatever you want so long as you don't leave that circle. It's about time that you kids get to know just what your quirks can do, the government has been procrastinating on that front for the last century." Damn red tape, it was bad enough before quirks came along, but now it's just ridiculous. Even after five generations of quirks, laws involving them are still a decade behind.

If there was one thing Aizawa would admit being grateful towards All Might for, it was the amount of legal progress his reign of peace had made possible. Things were still slow going, but more progress had been made in the underground hero's generation than the three generations before him combined.

"Alright, I just have one question. Are methods that destroy the ball allowed?" Izuku already had multiple methods in mind, but the simplest and most effective of them would guarantee that they wouldn't get the ball back. Aizawa shrugged and said that they had plenty of spares which was good enough for the magic-user.

"Emergency Teleport." Izuku said simply, though with an undertone of power in his voice. And just as quickly the ball in his hand disappeared, the device built to track it giving Aizawa an error message before doing the electronic equivalent of a shrug by displaying a question mark…

"Explain." Aizawa ordered, somewhat amused though not letting it show on his face.

"I teleported the ball, I'm able to do it with objects no larger than one meter cubed and no heavier than fifty kilograms. The range is anywhere that I've been, and anywhere that I can see. And I do mean that literally." Izuku answered, emphasizing his range by pointing at their planet's resident nuclear heater.

"Ah, that would explain why the satellites couldn't find it, even if it was destroyed." Aizawa shrugged off the casual breaking of physics as if it were normal. Given his profession, it probably was. The other students of 1A didn't seem to share his sense of calm.

"That's ridiculously awesome!" "So manly!" "Wow, that's strong, teleportation is a really rare quirk." The electric-looking boy, the sole redhead, and class A's resident frog exclaimed in excitement. Though it was hard to tell with the latter.

"It's honestly not that strong. I can only use it twice a day and it completely destroys whatever I teleport after about ten seconds. And if I use it on a living thing…Well, they don't die, but it isn't pretty either." He still had the scar from when he made the mistake of teleporting himself as a kid. Thank the various gods for healing spells.

'Interesting, it's one thing to read that he has hundreds if not thousands of different abilities and to see him pull one out so easily. Though those limitations are rather strict.' Regardless, they needed to move on with the test. "Enough gawking, now that we've had our demonstration it's time to move on. You can talk amongst each other if you want, just don't interrupt any of the tests. And you better give them your all, if any of you do poorly enough I won't hesitate to label you a lost cause and expel you on the spot."

"..." The students immediately shut up, shaken by their teacher's threat. Something about how nonchalantly Aizawa delivered it and the tone of his voice. They could tell that he wasn't joking. Still, the silence only lasted for a short while since they were told that they could talk amongst themselves so long as they didn't interrupt anything.

"That was excellent work Midoriya! I didn't know that your quirk extended to spells and traps as well…I did a bit of research on the card game in hopes of better understanding what might happen with your quirk." Iida congratulated and explained in one breath. Ever the diligent student he wanted to learn all he could about a useful topic when given the opportunity.

"Thanks. And as a piece of advice don't try to research every card, there are well over four thousand of them and I only use a few hundred with any regularity. Actually, here, you can look through some of the decks I brought with me to give you an idea." Izuku opened one of his pouches, revealing that they were filled with duel monsters cards. This one, in particular, was his Noble Knight deck since he thought Iida would like their design.

"Much appreciated! Though we should hurry and join the others, the next test has already started." It was a 50-meter dash, well, it was obvious who was going to win this one.

Tenya Iida: 3.04 seconds

Izuku Midoriya: 0.5 seconds

"Sonic Duck is a very finicky card. It allows me to run at the speed of sound. Give or take depending on wind resistance but at the cost of self-control. I would never use it in a fight but running in a straight line is easy enough." He explained, mind flashing back to the time he ran face-first into a tree when he first used the duck…He was honestly surprised that his training hadn't left any permanent damage.

Again, thank the spirits and various gods for healing magic.

It was subtle but if you looked closely you could tell that Iida was pouting. "If I just had a bit more time to accelerate…" Though even that wouldn't have been enough. He would need his super move to reach those levels of speed. Either way, the glasses-wearing boy made a mental note to never underestimate his classmate.

One of the more muscle-bound students, Rikido Satou spoke up. "Damn, looks like we got some stiff competition. Still, next up we got a good old-fashioned grip strength test. My quirk's all about strength, let's go!" He had this in the bag.

Momo Yaoyorozu: 1,000 kg

Mezo Shoji: 540 kg

Izuku Midoriya: 350 kg

Rikido Satou: 300 kg

"...My pride." The mountain of a boy visibly slumped, though he was glad he at least got fourth place. In the end, he took his loss far better than a certain blonde bomber.

"Fffffuuu-" His hissed curse sounded eerily similar to a bomb's burning fuse.

Standing Long Jump

There wasn't much to say with this one. The sandbox was pretty easy to clear when you could fly. Easier still when you could just summon a bird man to help you across. Not to be confused with Birdface, that guy and the Harpie archetype cards were left at home.

"So cool, he's like that up-and-coming hero Hawks!" The boy with tape for elbows, Hanta Sero exclaimed as Avian gave him a small salute before disappearing. "Dude, I know it's kinda weird but can I get his autograph later?" Taken a bit off guard by this, Izuku was stunned for a solid five seconds before shrugging in acceptance of the tape hero's joy. Promising that he'll get him an autograph at a later date.

Repeated Side Steps

There wasn't much Izuku could do with this one. He just applied a bit of wind manipulation to help with his speed and to cushion his feet. In the end, it helped him score in the top 8 but it was nothing special compared to what the purple ball boy or the frog girl could do…He'd get their names later.

Ball Throw

"DIIIIIEEEEE!" Ah good, they got to a test where Bakugo could release his built-up frustrations before he blew up something important. Izuku gave a hidden salute to the freshly destroyed ball that landed nearly a kilometer away. Its sacrifice would be remembered. For a few days at least.

Another thing worth mentioning was that someone had managed to tie with Izuku on this test. Meaning that they had thrown the ball so far that it surpassed the tracking satellites, or that it would surpass them given their velocity and throwing arc. Ochako got an impressive high five for that one.

Sit-Ups

This time Izuku employed the help of one of his machine monsters. A Proto-Cyber Dragon was brought out for him to lay down on. It then moved its snake-like body in a way that mimicked a perfect sit-up while Ochako, his partner for the test watched awkwardly. Surprisingly this method got a thumbs up from Aizawa, after all, substituting human stamina for machinery whenever applicable was logical.

Besides, they had one other test that wasn't so easy to cheat on.

Seated Toe-touch

There were no tricks for this one. Izuku had to settle for a score in the middle of the pack with his average flexibility. Shame that there were no especially elastic cards that he had access to.

Distance Run

Another fairly simple event, one that again Izuku didn't have much to help him. He used Bubbleman's water and Avian's wind manipulation to help cool himself down but other than that he had to rely on his own stamina. After all, increasing his speed would be pointless since this was supposed to be a stamina test and any of his summonings would just drain him more than they helped.

He ended up coming in fourth right behind Yaoyorozu, Todoroki, and Iida. Two more names that he would remember and keep an eye out for. The lady of the two bypassed the test entirely by creating a fully charged scooter from her body. The half and half boy on the other hand seemed to just have excellent stamina in general and the ability to cool himself down with ice.

"Acceptable, none of you did poorly enough to deserve expulsion. Don't get complacent though, that just means that the standards will need to be raised as time goes on. Now go home, today is just a half-day and those passes we handed out will only hold off the security system for another ten minutes." Any and all celebrations over their survival quickly died in response to their teacher's warning.

Didn't U.A have those giant robots for a defense system?...

To this day they could hear their teacher's ominous laughter as they made a run for the exits before their temporary passes expired. Legends say that a select few could even hear a higher-pitched laughter coming from select points where they could swear they saw a camera.

All in all, it was a fairly average first day for the U.A hero course.

I think I'll leave it here, though I will say that the next chapter will begin immediately after this one lets off. No sense in wasting a day where some nice character development can happen. Anyways, I hope that you all enjoyed the chapter and I apologize if my upload schedule has slowed down recently. And as always, have a great day.
