Walking into Viridian, Ash found himself being accosted by the local Officer Jenny.
"And just who are you?"
Ash tiredly handed her his Pokedex, and after looking at it like she thought he had murdered her Growlithe, she sighed heavily, "All right, I guess you are who you say you are. Sorry about that, but there have been reports of two Team Rocket members skulking around and I'm not taking the chance."
"Well, I guess I understand. Better safe than sorry right?"
Ash didn't get a chance to say anything more as Officer Jenny took off to pester another trainer.
"What a strange lady," he said as he walked into the Pokemon Centre, "Hello, I'm here to register for the Pokemon tournament!" he called out, wondering why the Pokemon Centre was dark and empty.
"Yes, I'm here, just put your Pokemon on the counter and I'll have them registered in a jiffy!"
"You don't look like the other Nurse Joy's," he said as she stared at her bright red hair suspiciously
"Yes, well, I have the same training, and as you can see I'm wearing the uniform, so who else could I be?"
Ash's backed away as he noticed a black uniform peaking out from underneath the nurse's outfit, a very familiar black outfit, like that he'd seen in the wanted poster hanging on the outside of the Pokecenter.
"You aren't a Nurse, you're Team Rocket!"
"Very good little boy, I guess the jig is up! Hand over your Pokemon now and I'll think about letting you walk out of here without your bruises having bruises."
"Thunderbolt" Ash called out, sighing in relief as the thunderbolt 'Pikachu' let out fried the light overhead, leaving him in darkness and able to duck quickly around the counter to the back of the Pokecenter where the emergency power room was. He had an insane plan, but one he hoped would work. The red-haired rocket wasn't long in coming after him, ripping open the door, only to blanch as she noticed Ash standing in front of all of the emergency power Pikachu, with his in the lead, "Thunderbolt!" Ash yelled, covering his eyes as a thunderbolt brighter than any he'd ever seen jolted through the room, when Ash dared to open his eyes again, he saw the red-haired rocket lying motionless on the floor, her uniform slightly smoking, the door to the power room blown off of its hinges. He heard her moaning so he knew he hadn't killed her. Quickly he tied her up with some rope he found in a supply closet in the back of the power room, "If she wakes up again, thunderbolt her again." he said to the Pikachu, although he wasn't sure if they understood him as he left the room, cautiously making his way back outside and flagging down Officer Jenny. By the time they had come back to the Pokecenter the red-haired rocket was gone, and so were all of the Pikachu except one that had a purple tinge to its skin.
"It's been poisoned." Jenny said, "Whomever that woman you mentioned was, she must have had her accomplice doing in the Pokemon emergency transfer room, all of the Pokemon there are gone. Whoever they were, they co-ordinated this well, I didn't even notice that Joy had been replaced by that rocket. I'll have to tell the other officers about this."
"What about this Pikachu? He doesn't look so good."
"Here, give him this while I go look for Nurse Joy." she handed him a full restore then headed off to find Nurse Joy.
Carefully, he applied the medicine to Pikachu so that it wouldn't electrocute him, although as it opened its eyes, it merely snuggled into his arms with a happy sounding "Pikapi". When Officer Jenny eventually returned with the real Nurse Joy in tow, the Pikachu clung to him, refusing to go with the nurse.
"Well looks like he's attached young man, I guess we will have to get some new Pika power for the emergency power room."
Ash grinned as he pulled a Pokeball from his belt, watching it not even rock as the Pikachu was captured and sent off to Professor Oak. He already had 6 pokemon on his poke belt, so he couldn't keep Pikachu with him, but as soon as he got to talk to Professor Oak he already knew he'd be changing his team around. After he was done swapping his team around, he decided to ask about the strange golden Pokemon he had seen flying overhead, and mentioned the rainbow feather, even pulling it out to show Professor Oak who just about fell over from shock.
"I don't believe it, I've heard stories about the legendary Pokemon Ho-Oh, but that's all I thought they were stories, and for you to receive a feather? My boy, you be very careful with that. Legends say that those whom are chosen by Ho-oh receive eternal happiness. You wouldn't want to get the wrong attention. Keep it safe my boy, and most of all, keep it secret."
