The Flag of Surrender

Eleniel: 15

Estel: 20

Rivendell was most definitely a magical sight to behold when winter came and brought along the snow. It had layered the grounds overnight, and everybody had been most pleased to wake up to a winter wonderland that morning. It was perfect timing, too, for Thranduil and Legolas had arrived only two days prior to spend the Yuletide holidays with them.

"Do you know anything of Lord Celeborn and Lady Galadriel's arrival?" Thranduil asked coolly as he and Elrond walked through the glistening gardens, watching their children – and Glorfindel and Feredir, though was that really a surprise? – compete in a snowball fight. From what they could tell, it was Eleniel, her friend Miluiel, Legolas and Estel against Glorfindel, Feredir, Elladan and Elrohir. Legolas and Eleniel were currently hidden behind a snow fort, quickly rolling snowballs together while Estel and Miluiel did the same in what seemed to be another snow fort a little behind them… he briefly smiled before turning to Elrond, who shook his head.

"No, though the snow fell light and therefore I do not believe it will hinder them much. With any luck, they should be here before the day is through." The two smiled at each other at that, turning their heads when a particularly loud scream emanated around them. Apparently, the forts had been stomped down by the other team, and Glorfindel, Feredir and the twins were pelting snowballs at them. Elrond shook his head fondly. "Eleniel will be pleased to see Arwen."

"Oh, yes," Thranduil agreed. "How she manages to live in a family of ellyn for months on end without her sister's presence astounds me." He grinned, and Elrond chuckled warmly.

"Indeed. She certainly has grown to live with it, I suppose, though I doubt it has been difficult." He crossed his arms over his chest as a breeze passed them. He turned to his friend, opening his mouth to speak once again, but was quickly stopped as something large and wet smacked him straight in the face. Immediately pausing, he stood stock still, absolutely shocked, as chunks of ice and snow slid off his face and dripped down his robes. He could not even open his eyes, but his ears were still working well enough to pick up the distinct sound of Thranduil attempting to hold back his laughter beside him.

"Well, mellon nin," he said, humour evident in his voice. "It seems she has also become less of a lady while living with these ellyn."

He reached up and slowly wiped the snow from his eyes before opening them, gaze immediately stopping on Eleniel. She was stood a little way off, hand clasped over her mouth, and unlike the six ellyn and human practically on their knees laughing from behind her, she looked positively stunned. Face set like stone, he took a step forward, and Eleniel took one back. She removed her hand from her mouth and held both up in surrender. "Ada, I am so sorry!" she rushed to assure him. "I was throwing it at Estel, but he dodged at the last minute and, well… I hit you. I am so sorry. Please forgive me!"

Elrond's – quite terrifying – gaze did not waver once, though the corner of his lips turned upwards the slightest bit at her admittance. "I shall forgive you," he said icily, before shaking his hair free of snow and starting straight for his daughter, "once you have had your comeuppance!"

And Eleniel shrieked, racing off in the opposite direction with her father hot on her heels. Of course, nobody did much to help – they were all too busy rolling around on the floor, absolutely laughing their heads off – and, soon enough, her short legs quickly came at a disadvantage as the Lord of Imladris swept her up, squealing, into his arms and proceeded to tickle her all the way to a large snow drift before swiftly tossing her in, rubbing his hands together, picking up one of Elladan's snowballs, and throwing it right into the King of Greenwood's smirking face.
