Candice came back to the group as the grunts returned their Pokémon. "Alright, a Head Ranger and officer are on their way. For now," she turned to the three, "Mind explaining yourselves?"
The grunts all looked between each other before the one on the left glanced up. He quickly grew a shocked face spotting Vincent before narrowing his eyes with a wicked smirk on his face. "Well… Just ask him, I'd recognize that useless grunt's face anywhere."
The Ranger sighed and shook her head. "He already outed himself as Vision and ditched you. Apparently you're stealing Legendary items." She knelt down a little bit to be more on the fallen villain's level. "What I want to know is why you're robbing this museum? Those Orbs have been fake for years now."
"I… what?"
The Gym Leader stepped forward and chimed in, "Yes, the originals were given to our Champion Hilbert and the old heir to Team Plasma, Natural Harmonia Gropius."
"You mean N?" I asked, a little confused at the long name. "Wait, is that actually his name? No wonder he called himself N, that's a really weird and long name. Who would go by that crazy a name?"
The first grunt that spoke up groaned and shook his head. "Okay then! So this was a complete failure of a mission, and we got caught. Arceus, Commander Saylen is going to kill us if we ever get out."
I smirk a little and turn to Candice and Dallas. "Saylen, huh? Like that woman that was back in Striaton? Who was going on about how Vision isn't just a Granbullshit copy of Team Plasma? That Commander Saylen? The same one I said was definitely evil?"
Candice quickly threw up her hands with a groan. "Okay, shut up! I get it, I was wrong to assume the criminal organization wasn't a criminal organization. Happy?"
"Extremely."
The center grunt shouted at us, "Can you shut the hell up! We don't need your stupid bickering about our borderline murderous boss while we're panicking about her!" He let out a huff and bent over frustrated. "Okay, since we're going up shit's creek without a paddle, what do you want to know? Can't get any worse than this!"
"Alright, alright. Got a couple minutes before the cops show up, so go ahead and practice whatever lies you were going to tell them." I've watched cop shows, I know how this works.
"Lies?" The furthest right one said. "Why would we lie? Dude, if our lives are probably already done with why would we lie? We already told you everything we know; Commander Saylen and Commander Tallen are making us collect every Legendary and Mythical Pokémon and artifacts used to summon them. I don't know why! Maybe they want to make some kind of Legend zoo or something?"
Finally breaking his time in silence, Wally stepped forward and held his hand up. "Alright, hold on a second. So, even though they could do literally, and I truly mean literally everything with just a handful of Legendaries, they want all of them?"
"Yes."
"That… is completely idiotic. Why would they waste that much time for something so…" He stopped and rubbed the bridge of his nose, shaking his head.
I don't know why but I felt the need to add my own ending to his question. "Pointless? Extra? Probably horribly dangerous? Any of those good to end that statement?" I just give a small shrug as the Leader throws me a small side glance. "I'm just saying, I'm just saying."
We waited for a good few minutes in the museum, boiling down to only spiteful bickering with the grunts and casual small talk with each other before the police had finally arrived at the scene. We each give a quick testimony about the events, share the information that we were given, and the officers take away the three grunts in cuffs. Meanwhile, the Head Ranger that was sent had brought Candice over to the side and was toying with her Stylus or something. Giving myself a few minutes to gather myself and do a quick look around the museum once again. Might as well while we're here, right? And it wasn't for naught, I actually was looking for any other possible hidden grunts and learning a lot! Maybe Walter had something right with wanting to hang out here.
Or maybe I was wasting time until Wally was free again, so I could finally come back up to him and ask the question. "So, Gym Leader Wally," I started, "I see you're busy with all the stuff that just happened, but is there any chance we could fit in a battle soon or… Y'know?"
The greenette, which is what I can only assume is what you call it, just looked at me with a grin and gave a nod. "Of course! I am a Gym Leader after all, it is my job! Although, well… It may have to wait a bit. I have a lot of paperwork and a few calls to make to the others in the League about all this. The political part of all this, you know how it is."
"Wow, the League here is a whole lot more involved than other regions. In Johto the most someone in a Leader position did was take care of a sick Ampharos in a lighthouse."
Wally cocked his head at the comment. "Wait, all Gym Leaders don't-" He stopped himself as a wave of realization swept his face. "Holy shit, besides here Gym Leaders are useless as hell, Hoenn was completely dull in that department." He shook his head. "Alright, well, yes, I need to handle all the League business, so I'd say tomorrow? Or the day after, one of those two."
"Seriously?" I ask before shaking my head, taking in a quick breather. "Okay, that was actually rude to ask, you're a busy guy. I can wait a day or two! Gives me time to actually… train. Oh, crap, I almost came straight here without even trying to train. I am trying to rush this, I have no idea what I am doing."
