"Montay, wait!" 6-year-old Kori chased after her eldest brother. The kids were on their way to school, Rolin was sadly home, sick, so it was just two of the three buggers. Little Kori just couldn't keep up with her big brother.
11-year-old Montay huffed. "Come on, Kori, or we're going to be late."
"My legs aren't long enough!" Kori took hold of Montay's hand so he was basically dragging her at his pace. "Will my legs grow longer Montay?"
Montay sighed. "I hope so." Montay escorted Kori to her classroom before going to his own, their mother already informed the office that Rolin wouldn't be in attendance that day.
Recess finally came after a long morning. Montay was reading a book on the playground.
"Hey, Azimuth!" Montay heard from far off. He looked up and no one was paying him any attention. Not a single student or teacher was looking in his direction.
"Where's your Daddy, Azimuth?" Montay heard again. "Where is your Daddy, the big traitor he is?"
"Leave me alone." Kori's voice said. "I don't want to play with you."
"That's too bad," the other voice said. An unsettling tone settled into his voice. "Because we want to play with you."
Montay jumped up and ran to the younger kid's playground. His sister was surrounded by a group of kids who were definitely older and bigger than Montay. He frowned. "Leave my sister alone."
"Jackpot," a big kid said. "Another one."
The biggest one laughed. "I have an idea for a game. Follow my lead but first, Leopold grab the big one."
Leopold wrapped his arms around Montay's neck and arms, securing him in place. Montay pushed and kicked against Leopold but he was firmly in place.
Then the big kids started to push Kori around like she was a ball. She was shoved, pushed, and repeatedly tossed around the little circle.
"Montay!" Kori cried.
Then the biggest stepped out of the way and let little Kori fall to the ground. Her cries turned to tears as she wept over the pain in her knees and elbows.
"Such a baby," the older kids remarked before turning and leaving. Leopold let Montay go and he bolted to Kori.
The fat tears that ran down his baby sister's face made a wave of anger fester in Montay. But Kori didn't need an angry big brother.
"Are you okay?" Montay helped her up.
Kori sniffled and tried to look at her elbows. They were a mess of red blood and orange fur. The same for her knees. "Don't tell Mom." She quieted her tears.
"I'm taking you to the nurse." Montay frowned.
Kori shook her head. "It's okay. I know the way." She dusted herself off and walked to the school building, Montay following close behind.
Little Kori walked to the nurse's office and signed herself in. "Hi, Miss-us Hydros." She put herself up on the free bed. The other bed was occupied by a poor boy holding his stomach, curled up in a ball, waiting for his mother to come to take him home. A little bucket next to him in case he got sick.
"Hi, Kori." Mrs. Hydros nodded. "I'll be right with you."
Kori nodded and simply kicked her feet. "Can I stay for the rest of recess again?"
"You need fresh air. You should be outside." Mrs. Hydros scolded. "I tell Carmen the same thing. You kids grow better with more sunlight and fresh air."
Kori sighed. "My mom doesn't want to move up my nanotech shots."
"You're still a bit young for them." Mrs. Hydros finished her paperwork for the last child. "They are best received at 8 years old. Like I've told you before." Her eyes flickered down to the 11-year-old boy lurking in the hallway. Orange fur, red stripes, and brown eyes. "Can I help you?" She asked him.
The boy froze up but Kori spoke up. "That's my big brother. He wanted to make sure I got here okay. Right, Montay?"
"Right." The boy nodded.
Mrs. Hydros smiled. Another Azimuth child. At least this one wasn't hurt. "Well thank you for seeing her here but I've got her. Why don't you go back outside?"
"No thank you." Montay shook his head.
Mrs. Hydros blinked. She watched the boy come in and sit next to his sister on the bed. "Kori is fine. Just a few scrapes. I'll have them healed up in no time. You can play with your friends outside while you wait."
"We don't have any friends." Montay bit back.
Kori lowered her eyes away from Mrs. Hydros' surprise. It was true that no one had ever accompanied Kori to the nurse's office before but the 6-year-old had always told her that it was nothing.
Not even an adult had done it when Kori first started school.
Dia Hydros didn't have to guess why these two particular children were avoided by adults and children. Carmen was just a baby when they evacuated to the Lombax Dimension. Her father-in-law gave his life for her family in the fight.
"Let me get the spray." She said softly.
Kori smiled. "Thank you Miss-us Hydros. I saw Carmen at lunch today."
"Did you? Was he behaving?" Mrs. Hydros grabbed the spray and knelt in front of Kori. "Which knee do you want first?"
Kori moved her right knee. "This one, please." She nodded. "I think he was behaving. I couldn't hear what he was saying but he looked like he was having fun with his friends."
"Eating his lunch instead of talking I hope." Mrs. Hydros cleaned Kori's knee before applying the spray to her knee. "Sorry if it stings."
Kori shrugged. "It's okay, the sting doesn't bother me anymore."
"Alright." Mrs. Hydros finished Kori's knees and moved to her elbows. "Almost done."
Kori gently kicked her feet. "Okay." Once her elbows were done Kori was released and signed herself back out again.
"Be careful this time, Kori." Mrs. Hydros shooed the children back to the playground, going back to watching the poor sick boy.
Montay returned to his book to find it destroyed. The older kids probably found it. The rest of the school day Montay tried to repair it so his mother was none the wiser.
His stepfather Spade noticed. "Hey, buddy, what happened to your book?"
"Nothing." Montay huffed.
Spade tried to smile. Rolin and Kori were easier to parent but Montay...provided a ready challenge at every turn. "May I see it?"
"Fine." Montay pushed it over to him.
Spade gently handled the book to prevent further damage. "Did you try to fix it?"
"Yes." Montay pouted. "Mom would yell at me if I ruined it."
Spade looked up at his stepson. "You didn't do this, Montay. Who did?"
"No one." Montay huffed. "You're not my dad."
Spade hid the hurt that caused. He knew that fact very well, even though he married Becca she was still mourning the loss of her husband. He married Becca because he cared about her and the kids, Spade loved them in a different way.
"This doesn't look that bad." Spade flipped a few pages. "Let me see what I can do. Your mom will never know." He smiled at the little boy. "It will be like it never happened."
Montay pouted, looking at Spade with big eyes. "You can do that?"
"I'll do my best," Spade smirked. "Let's check on Rolin and Kori then we can get to work so it's done before your Mom gets home."
Rolin was fine, sleeping and his fever was going down. Spade replaced the cold rag on his forehead before moving on to Kori. The littlest one proudly produced her nearly completed homework, receiving praise for her fine work.
After the book was repaired and the children were put to bed Spade and Becca had time to themselves.
"Dia called me today." Becca sighed. "Kori fell again on the playground."
Spade frowned. "She didn't say a word of it to me when I picked them up."
"She's tough." Becca smiled for a moment. "She's more like Alister than I thought." Tears streamed down her face, sobs causing her shoulders to shake.
Spade sat Becca down and rubbed her back. "It's okay. Alister would be proud that she's a tough little girl."
"Kori never even got to meet her father." Becca sniffled. "And people look at her as if she betrayed us. As if she made that worm attack us."
Spade shook his head. "Well, we can't do anything about it now."
"Why did you even marry me, Spade?" Becca wept. "I know why but why?"
Spade sighed and hugged Becca. "Because you're my best friend. And Penelope and Alister would have killed me if I left you and the kids to fend for yourselves." He pulled back and smiled at Becca. "It's okay. I know you still love Alister. Montay reminds me all the time that I'm not his father."
"I told him not to do that." Becca frowned. "You are legally his father by being my husband but…" she sighed. "Spade, is there anyone else? Someone you want to be with if we weren't married?"
Spade shook his head. "I'm not going to have an affair, plus you know that's not how it works."
"But Spade," Becca sighed. "You deserve to be with someone you love. Someone who loves you back." She pouted and Spade saw Kori in her features. "I'm still pining for Alister. I was pregnant with his child when we came here and everyone acts like that was a crime. You deserve to be free of this. Free of me."
Spade shook his head again. "You're not going to get rid of me that easily. Right now you and the kids are my main priority, it's the least I can do you for you all after what you and Alister did for me."
"Promise me, Spade." Becca grabbed his shoulders. "When you find someone you'll tell me. I have a job now and I can provide for the kids. You don't have to stay if you don't want to."
Spade nodded. "I promise." Minus the last person he had a crush on was Becca's husband but seeing Alister and Becca together...Spade let the feelings fade away. Not that Spade was picky.
"Mommy," Kori's voice whimpered. "Daddy Spade."
The little girl stood in Becca's bedroom door, tears on her face. Becca jumped up to meet her. "Kori, sweetheart, what's wrong?"
"I had a bad dream," Kori sniffled, reaching for her mother.
Becca gently picked her up. "You had a bad dream?" She carried the little one back to the bed. "Oh, sweetie, dreams can't hurt you."
"But Mommy," Kori cuddled up to her mother. "I dreamed about Daddy."
Becca glanced at Spade. "Sweetie," she smoothed down Kori's hair. "You know Daddy is gone. You can never meet him."
"Never?" Kori pouted.
Becca took a slow, shaky breath. "No, baby, never."
"Why Mommy?" Kori whimpered. "All the big kids call Daddy a traitor. What's a traitor?"
Spade touched Kori's back. "Don't listen to those bullies, they don't know what they're talking about."
"But Daddy Spade," She turned to him with those big blue eyes, just like her mother's. "They said it was all Daddy's fault. What was Daddy's fault?"
Becca sniffled. "Sweetheart, you remember the memorial we go to every year. All those people that died?"
"Don't," Spade whispered. "Becca, don't tell her that."
Becca let a tear slip. "I'd rather she heard it from her mother than anyone else. They'd turn it into something awful like they did for Rolin and Montay." She gently touched Kori's face, frowning slightly. "Your Daddy trusted someone he shouldn't have, baby. And because he trusted that person, people died and we came here."
"Why?" Kori's pout trembled. "Why would Daddy do that?"
Becca shook her head. "I don't know." She pulled her daughter in close. "You were still in Mommy's tummy. Daddy didn't tell me because he didn't want to upset me because if I got upset then that could hurt you."
"Kori, baby," Spade moved closer. "Your Daddy loved you all so much. This...person your Daddy trusted promised that he would protect us, all of us. But he betrayed your Daddy's trust. It was his fault. Not your Daddy's."
Kori looked up at Spade. "What does betrayed mean?"
"Betrayed means that you put your trust in someone and they go back on that trust." Spade sighed. "You believed in that person but they let you down."
Kori sniffled. "Why did they do that to Daddy? To us?"
"Kori," Spade glanced at Becca. "You remember those stories I told your brothers? With big bad Cragmites in them?"
Kori shook her head. "I don't like those stories."
"I know," Spade touched her arm. "That's why I stopped telling them." He frowned. "But those stories really happened. Cragmites were real. Tachyon was a Cragmite. Your Daddy thought he was a good one but he was wrong."
Kori pouted. "He was wrong?"
"Yes," Spade nodded. "He was wrong."
Kori looked at Becca and Spade. "Does that mean Daddy was bad?"
"No," Becca rushed to say. "Daddy was trying to do something good but Tachyon turned it into something bad."
Kori still sniffled, looking up at them. "Did Daddy die?"
"We don't know." Spade sighed. "No one has gone back. So we don't know." He stopped the little girl from pushing forward. "It's past your bedtime Kori." Spade picked up the little girl and smoothed out her nightdress. "What story would you like me to read you? The councilwoman story again?"
Kori sniffled and put her chin on Spade's shoulder. "I want a story about Daddy. A nice story."
"Mommy knows just the one," Becca smiled. "The Story of how Mommy and Daddy met. And how we met Daddy Spade."
Kori rested her head on Spade's shoulder, her eyes already slipping closed. "Is it a nice story?" She yawned big and grabbed onto Spade's shirt.
"It's Mommy's favorite." Becca laughed. "It's when Mommy and Daddy first fell in love."
Kori yawned bigger and Spade rubbed her back. She rubbed her eyes. "Okay, Mommy."
Little Zeon smiled big for his mother. "Cheese!" Astrid and Rolin caught the smiling boy in a still.
"Very good, Zeon." Astrid laughed, rubbing her back as her baby belly stuck out in front of her. "Grandma is going to love this one."
Rolin rubbed Astrid's belly. "Give Mommy and the baby kisses, it's time to go to school." He kissed his wife and unborn child before grabbing his son's backpack.
"Bye Bye Mommy." Zeon kissed his mother's cheek. "Bye Bye Baby." He kissed his mother's belly. Zeon danced around as Rolin slipped on his backpack.
Rolin laughed. "Zeon, you want me to turn on some music?"
"No," Zeon smiled, still dancing. "I got music in my head."
Rolin smiled at Astrid for a second. "Well," Rolin turned back to his son. "Come on or we're going to be late for school." He finally got the boy to calm down enough he could take him to the family ship. Rolin made sure Zeon got to his class on time and fully prepared.
Astrid and Rolin picked up their little boy together. Astrid had spent the day off her feet to allow her energy to spend on picking up their darling boy from school.
"Hey buddy," Rolin smiled when their boy barreled toward him. Zeon clung to his father and buried his face into Rolin's chest. "How was school?"
Zeon sniffled and started to cry in his father's arms.
"Buddy," Rolin bounced his son and gently rubbed his back. "What's wrong?"
Astrid frowned, she gently petted their son's head. "Did something happen, sweetheart?" When Zeon shook his head with a sob, Astrid's hormones boiled over and her anger flared in protectiveness of her son. "Mommy will be right back, sweetheart." Astrid turned on her heel and marched to the school building.
"Honey," Rolin called. "Honey, the doctor said you need to relax!"
Astrid ignored her darling husband and kept going. The baby in her stomach voiced its own disapproval but she simply rubbed her stomach to soothe it, Mommy was on a mission.
Zeon's teacher was still cleaning up for the day when Astrid entered. Isabelle smiled at Astrid until she saw her angry expression. "Hey, Astrid, long time no see?"
"Bella," Astrid frowned. "My son is currently crying his eyes out. Did anything happen today?"
Isabelle shrugged. "Today was a pretty good day from where I'm standing, I wouldn't know why he's crying. I didn't know you had a son this age though. Which one is yours?"
"Zeon is my son," Astrid huffed. "Little boy, likes to dance to music that isn't there?"
Isabelle laughed. "Zeon Azimuth? You had a kid with one of the Azimuth brothers?" She pointed at Astrid's obvious pregnant stomach. "Please tell me that one has a different father, I won't judge."
"I'm sorry I love my husband." Astrid showed off her wedding ring. "Astrid Azimuth, pleased to meet you. Proud mother of Zeon Azimuth and our next bundle of joy." She rubbed her stomach. "Now if you could inform me as to why my son is crying, that'd be great."
Isabelle shrugged. "A few of the boys were picking on him but I thought Azimuths had stronger skins than that."
"He's 4 years old." Astrid huffed. "Believe it or not but Azimuths have stronger skins because of the abuse others allow them to endure. They have to get strong skins because of you all who treat them like monsters because of something none of them even had any remote control over. My husband was a toddler but he's been treated like he had a personal hand in what happened."
"Honey," Rolin's voice came from the classroom door. "Let's get home. You need to get off your feet."
Astrid turned to her husband, their son hiding behind him. She didn't know who to comfort first but at Rolin's smile, she went to their little boy. "Are you okay, ZeeZee?" Astrid whispered, rubbing his ears.
"I'm okay, Mommy." Zeon nodded, still sniffling but at least he wasn't crying. "Are you and Baby okay?"
Astrid smiled. "Mommy and Baby are much better now that you're okay." She kissed Zeon's forehead. "But Daddy is right. Let's go home, Mommy is tired."
Astrid then turned to her husband, kissing his lips before gently resting her forehead against his. "I love you."
"I love you too," Rolin smiled back, gently putting his hand on their unborn baby. "More than anything, my beloved wife." He felt the baby kick under his hand, making Rolin laugh. "And my beloved children."
Astrid took Zeon's free hand. "Baby is kicking, do you want to feel?" The young boy felt his baby sister kick, which made him very happy. Then the family went home, and let Mommy and baby Harper relax with only a few interruptions from Daddy and Zeon with homework questions.
Little Grace bounced and bounced with excitement. "I'm going to school! I'm going to school!" She sang and bounced.
"Yes," Montay smiled down at her. "Big girl school. Aren't you going to miss Mrs. Electrode?"
Grace tilted her head. "Miss-us E-lec-toad won't be my teacher this year?"
"Electrode, peppermint," Montay grabbed her backpack. "And no, she was your nursery teacher. You're going to preschool, you're going to have a new teacher. Mr. Gigabyte."
Grace reached for her backpack. "Is he nice?" She expertly put it on and tightened the straps. "Will I like him?"
"I don't know," Montay grabbed Malcolm, who still was going to nursery school with his little backpack. "I can't say I've met him before."
Grace thought for a moment before looking at her parents' bedroom door. "Is Mommy going to help drop me off?" She started walking but Montay gently caught her arm.
"No," Montay forced a laugh and smile. "Peppermint. Mommy and Uncle Tony are still sleeping. They'll see you when you come home."
Grace blinked. Oblivious. "Is Mommy going to pick me up?"
"No, Grandma Becca still is. Same with Malcolm." Montay steered his daughter away from his and his wife's bedroom. "I'll meet you both there when I'm done with work and I'll make dinner when we get home."
Grace nodded. "Okay," she smiled up at Montay, bouncing again. "Is it time to go to school?"
"Being early doesn't hurt," Montay laughed. "Let's go!"
Montay dropped off his little girl, bouncing like a rubber ball. Mr. Gigabyte greeted them at the door. "Welcome to my classroom," he smiled.
"I'm Grace," Grace smiled. "Nice to meet you!"
Mr. Gigabyte knelt to meet her. "Nice to meet you too, Grace. Is this your Dad and brother?"
"Yeah," Grace glanced back at her father and Malcolm. "Mac is still in nursery school but I'm in preschool."
Mr. Gigabyte laughed. "Well, it's a pleasure to have you. Are you excited for school?"
"Yeah!" Grace giggled and bounced again. "Yeah, yeah, yeah!" She spun around, bouncing.
Montay put his hand on his daughter's head. "Okay, sweetheart." He kissed her head. "Daddy and Malcolm have to go. Give kisses and promise you're going to be a good girl."
"Bye Daddy." Grace jumped up and kissed her father's cheek. "Buh Bye Mac." She kissed Malcolm's head, much to his disagreement. Grace then ran off to find her cubby to put her stuff away.
Mr. Gigabyte shook Montay's hand. "Are you picking her up after school?"
"My mother," Montay sighed. "I work full time." He shrugged. "My mother will be on time to pick her up." Montay leaned to see his daughter. "Grace, be a good girl!" He called.
Grace focused more on the toys she was playing with. "Yes, Daddy!"
"You promised." He laughed, shaking his head.
Montay and Malcolm left for work and nursery, the three meeting back up at Grandma Becca's house. Rolin helped Grace and Zeon with their homework as Montay arrived, baby Harper securely cuddled up in his chest. Rolin gently tapped on his niece's head to get her attention.
Grace turned around to see Montay and she pushed herself away from the table and ran to hug Montay. "Daddy!"
"Peppermint!" Montay kissed Grace's cheek and head. He held his daughter close and squeezed her a little. "Do I have to ask if you were a good girl? Did you behave in class today?"
"Very well," Rolin smiled. "From what Grandma says."
Montay kissed Grace's forehead. "That's my girl." He put his daughter down. "Where is Malcolm?"
"Grandma has him." Rolin pointed to the kitchen, the little baby on his chest adjusting herself with a small yawn. "We're very tired, yes." He laughed and rubbed his daughter's back.
Montay smirked. "Growing like a weed takes work, Daddy."
"It does, apparently," Rolin kissed Harper's head. "We're such a sweet little girl."
Montay smiled before going to the kitchen to see his son in a high chair, pouting up a storm. Malcolm didn't even brighten up when Montay walked up to him.
"Mom," Montay looked at his mother.
Becca shook her head. "I don't know what's wrong with him. Rolin and I have both tried to soothe him but he's inconsolable."
"Mac," Montay lowered himself to Malcolm's eye level. "What's wrong, buddy? Are you hungry? Are you tired?" Montay tried to pick up the toddler but the little boy wailed with all his might.
"Montay!" Rolin's voice came after the wailing ended, a tiny baby cried underneath his voice of protest.
"Sorry," Montay winced before going back to Mac. "Come on buddy, let's go home. I'll make dinner and you can go to bed." Then Montay felt a tug on his fingers. He looked down to see Grace smiling up at him. "Yes, peppermint?"
Grace held up an old Lombax doll. "Maybe Doppler can help."
"Doppler," Montay gently took the doll, originally Rolin's when they were kids. The poor thing had been ripped apart so many times by Rolin and Kori that the stitching took on the pattern of the Doppler effect. Hence he was renamed Doppler when his original name had been Zippy.
So Montay got on his knees and tried his best to entice the little boy with the poor toy (that had seen far better days). It took a bit of convincing but Malcolm fell for the funny noises and ugly little toy. Montay was finally able to pry the boy from the high chair and take his children home. The kids were fed, washed, dried, brushed, and tucked in with storytime to spare.
Then Alice and Tony finally decided to show their faces. "Alice," Montay frowned. "Was there something special about today? Something we talked about."
"I don't know," Alice groaned, leaning on Tony. "Was it our anniversary?"
Montay crossed his arms, leaning against the counter. "Think about the time of year we're in right now."
"It's not my birthday," Alice sighed, running her hand through her hair. "Or yours." She took a deep breath. "I think."
Montay took a deep breath. "She's small, white fur calls you Mommy."
"What about…" Alice waved her hand. "Whatever her name is."
Montay forced another deep breath. "You forgot our daughter's name?"
Tony shrugged. "Why is that so important?"
"Because Alice and I named her!" Montay hissed. "That's one thing I thought she could never forget."
Alice scoffed. "I remember the important stuff."
"Except for your only daughter's name." Montay huffed. "Or that you're married to me."
Alice frowned. "You're so selfish, Tony has needs too."
"Given you're married to me," Montay turned away. "Tony should have to find someone else."
Alice sniffled. "Why are you being so mean to me?"
"Gracie," Montay scolded. "It was her first day of preschool today and she wanted you to be there." He frowned at his wife. "Would it have killed you to be there for your daughter? Just once?"
Alice shrugged. "I gave birth to her so she still owes me."
"But you never took care of her." Montay shook his head. "When you gave birth to her that is when you stopped caring about her. I'm lucky to be Gracie's father at all." Montay sighed. "And I'm your husband, I shouldn't have to doubt who the father of my wife's children are."
Alice pouted. "I care about her."
"Tell me then," Montay sat down at the table. "What is her favorite color? Her favorite stuffed animal? What is her teacher's name?"
The room fell silent as Alice had the floor. Finally, after a long silence, Alice stomped her foot. "You're such an ass, Montay." She grabbed Tony's shirt and dragged him back to the bedroom. "Come on, baby."
"Hope Lacy had fun," Tony saluted at Montay.
Montay sighed. Tony cared more than Alice did. He got up to check on the kids, Grace fast asleep with her purple Fluffy tucked under her head. Montay kissed her temple and gently turned up her nightlight, just in case. He fixed her lavender sheets and made sure her white noise machine was working.
Mac, of course, was asleep with his little butt in the air. His knees nearly in his chest. Montay stroked the little boy's back, kissing his head. The toddler had mastered sleeping through the night a long time ago but Montay still checked on him routinely.
Then Montay turned in himself, sleeping on the couch. It didn't really bother him that much anymore but he did prefer to sleep in a real bed.
The next morning Grace bounced her way to school again, early and full of energy. Mr. Gigabyte showed Grace to her spot, fresh with her name written on a name card on the desk.
"I get a special spot?" Gracie smiled big.
Mr. Gigabyte nodded. "This is your spot, everyone gets one of their own and this is yours." He sat her down with a coloring page. "Why don't you color this while I have a talk with your dad?" Mr. Gigabyte kept smiling, giving her a box of crayons.
Montay and Mr. Gigabyte stepped away for a moment. "Is there something wrong?" Montay frowned. "Did Gracie act inappropriately?"
"No," Mr. Gigabyte shook his head. "But I am concerned if things are alright at home. The kids played house yesterday and Gracie was assigned the role of Mommy."
Montay winced, putting down Mac. "I do apologize for anything she did."
"Well, Gracie didn't appear to understand what she had to do as Mommy. The other kids did make Gracie understand the role but she said that was her Daddy," Mr. Gigabyte forced a laugh. "But she tried to create a new role called 'Uncle Tony'?"
Montay forced a smile. "She has an uncle who lives with us, just down on his luck right now. Begged to stay with us until he could get back on his feet." Montay grabbed Mac before he wandered too far away.
"So things are okay at home?" Mr. Gigabyte gently pressed.
Montay nodded. "Yes, and if she mentions an Uncle Rolin that's my brother, he's a stay at home dad who watches the kids and helps them with homework until I'm able to pick them up."
"Yeah, Zeon was in my class." Mr. Gigabyte smiled. "Interesting little kid. Hopefully, I have your boy when he's big enough."
Montay smirked. "In a year or two Malcolm will start preschool, we'll have to see." He shrugged. "Zeon got a baby sister recently."
"Good for them," Mr. Gigabyte laughed. "Zeon told me how much he wanted a younger sibling."
Montay checked the time. "We should get going. Thanks for talking to me." He smiled. "Harper, remember. Cute little thing looks like her mother."
