The Maze

Eito dropped to one knee a gilded sword bashing against his simple shield while he waited for his chance to turn the tables on his opponent.

"hiding are you, no matter that shield cant protect you forever!" yelled the other champion as he brought both hands up bring his sword down with all his might trying to reach Eito flesh. The force of the impact made the already damaged metal shield send sparks flying onto the sand beneath there feet.

"who's hiding?" Eito smirked suddenly standing and bashing his rival in the side of the head with his shield throwing his off balance before slashing him across the chest throwing his vampric blood to the walls, and finally kicking him to the ground leaving his enemy gasping and at his mercy.

Eito looked down at the rival champion and growled seeing the slash was already beginning to heal. He knew he didn't have time to hesitate he had to finish this, rushing forward blade at the ready to deliver the final blow.

"gah… no more I yield to the better man." Eito froze his blade mere inches away from the fresh of his enemies throat.

"accepted." Eito replied sheathing his sword and reaching out a hand helping his vanquished foe to his feet. The vampires both looked at each other both with red eyes and fangs extended.

"what's going on?" questioned the bloodied champion unable to take his human form.

"this must be the affects of the blood moon, it makes it almost impossible for any monster to maintain their human form." Eito said finding it impossible to change back as well.

"I see then this pentagram is amplifying its effects only those with Rosaries in the crowd are still in their human state." Eito agreed with him with a nod before both men looked at each other and shook hands.

"thank you for sparing my life."

"repay me by making it a long and great life." Eito smirked as they separated and went separate directions.

'I have to find the favor and fast I cant lose my momentum in the tournament.' Eito told himself as he rounded the corner seeing Baca standing over a group of four dead champions with another on his knees.

"I yield Baca, I beg you show me mer…" the rival didn't even have time to finish before Baca rammed his sword through his chest.

"ah Eito, glad I found you, I was worried you had been defeated by someone else." Smirked Baca as he took out a rag and cleaned his sword with a smile.

"Baca, what you've just done borderlines murder." Growled Eito pulling out his sword and taking a fighting stance.

"what you heard master Shuzen, champion combat is encouraged." Smirked Baca as he started to walk towards Eito with smile.

"besides I told them not to touch my new wife's favor." Only then did Eito see clutched in the hands of one of the dead champions was the dagger with favor attached.

"NO!" Eito yelled as Baca reached down to pick it up.

Eito swung his sword with all his might but it was countered by the Baca blade with a smile.

"cute, fine if you really want to battle, I'll indulge." Instantly the lightning fast blade of Baca broke the blade lock and began expertly launching blow after blow at Eito who's shield could barely redirect the attacks.

' so much power behind each swing I cant risk going on the offensive.' Eito struggled as Baca brought his blade high bring it down to meet Eito raised shield the shear force bringing the desperate fighter to his knees as he dove forward and grabbed the dagger from the fallen champions hand and fled back down the mazes pathways.

"what, fleeing the battle, YOU COWARD!" yelled Baca charging after his enemy.

' facing him head on is suicide, and the longer I wait; the more the others are going to kill each other, I have to end this challenge.' While it was true that Eito didn't particularly care for the other champions, he knew that vampires were already to few in numbers to allow such senseless killing.

Eito smiled as he followed his X's down the cleared path he had already made. He ran past prespring traps, over the corpses of the undead, and finally rounding the corner he skidded to a halt seeing the center of the arena had been transformed into a lava pit with a dozen or so stone pillar standing shakily around the field of molten liquid and in the center was a larger column and on it laid the sheath for the dagger.

Eito looked down nervously then looked at the first pillar that was five feet away from the ledge. The vampire knew that jumping to it wouldn't be a problem but landing on it while keeping his balance would prove to be a challenge. Taking a few steps back he dropped his shield and started to mentally prepare himself for the act of insanity he was about to attempt.

"get back here you spineless coward." Eito turned back to see baca behind him with two other champions in tow.

Eito gulped as he jumped onto the first pillar that was barely wider than his foot. Looking to the next one he jumped again, then again trying desperately to get to the finish line.

Baca and the other two champions stopped at the lava pools edge and growled. "Damn it… STOP HIM!"

Baca yelled pushing both of them out onto the pillars the first one immediately falling into the orange hell that lay bellow. The sicken scream and smell of burning flesh filled the air and it made Eito stomach curl. However, even that could disway him as he balanced on one foot about to make the final jump onto the column.

Diving Eito landing on the platform and sheathed the dagger " VICTORY!"

The crowd suddenly burst into load cheers as the arena quickly changed back to its original shape. As it did and the corpses of the fallen were revealed the cries of families could be heard through the loud cheering for those six that remained standing

The dance of swords

Shuzen once again rose from his throne raising his hand then lowering it silencing the crowd again with ease.

"brothers and sisters, thirteen champions have entered the arena, but now only six are still able to bear arms. Five of these champions have lost there lives in this pursuit, one is to wounded to continue, and the last was defeated but chose withdraw rather than death." At this the crowd roared in outrage of the dishonor that was the withdraw.

"all of these champions fought bravely, but of these six only one can be crowned victor, so who holds the dagger… step forward and claim your victory." Etio stepped forward away from the others, who had lined up during the speech, while holding up the dagger favor still attached to the hilt.

"Eito Massimo, once again fate favors you, however one last challenge remains… a duel between champions. As the victor you will fight first against a opponent of the crowds choosing." Shuzen announced with a smile, while Eito blood ran cold.

"Baca, Baca, Baca." The crowd began to chant before Shuzen even had a chance to ask.

"very well the crowd has decided, Baca and Eito take position." Announced Shuzen while Eito looked around for his sword and shield.

"where are they… where are." Eito growled as goblins dragged away the dead and there weapons. "Begin!"

Pure instinct made Eito evade just in time for the cold steel of Baca long sword to crash into the ground where he once stood.

"Eyes on the enemy coward, running wont save you this time." Baca smiled swinging his blade again and again at his otherwise helpless opponent.

"A sword… throw me a sword." Yelled Eito as another swing came the fine edge of the blade finely shaving his cheek as he danced around Baca, landing a kick on his side, while diving barely evading another sword attack before rolling back to his feet and taking up a fighting stance.

"no one is going to aid you… child of the failed house of Massimo." Smirked Baca looking at Eito.

"THAT DOES IT!" growled Eito unleashing a massive Amount of monster energy as his deep blue aura surrounded him like a mighty ocean.

"Did I make you angry? Come on get angry!" Baca replied accepting the challenge. Stabbing his sword into the ground he flex and unleashed an even greater power that radiated from his golden aura

'double S-Class, I've heard stories but I never dreamed he'd be this powerful, but it doesn't matter; my clan is relying on me to win this tournament.' Eito growled after his mental determination was peaked.

The two champions charged at each other bare handed monster energy pouring out of there powerful vampric bodies. The two powers colliding sent shockwaves throughout the arena. Eito landing a blow to baca face, while Baca landing one of his own in Eito gut sending him flying across the arena.

Skipping across the sand like a stone on water before smashing into the arena walls. Eito opened one eye while blood poured down from his hairline. "so powerful." Groaned Eito

"You come at me head on. I know you're not brave, so you must just be stupid." smirked Baca as Eito got to his feet only to have Baca appear in front of him pushing him against the wall.

The sound of the cheers was deafening as Aqua looked down at the display in disgusted as Baca landed blow after blow on Eito body literally pounding him into the stone wall. While, she didn't feel sorry for the fool Eito, she had to respect his bravery, while he kept attempting to escape or fight against this one sided thrashing.

"this is not battle, this is cruelty." Kokoa finally said crossing her arms while Aqua nodded in agreement.

"father should stop the match, or does he have something against that young man?" asked Kokoa looking at Aqua who looked back at her little sister then to her father.

"I don't know what's going on in that head of his Kokoa, I wish I did." Aqua said seeing the wide smile on her fathers face as he watched the carnage.

"time to die Eito." Smirked Baca bringing his arm back for a knife hand strike. "just like your bloodline." Thrusting his arm forward the hand shot right through Eito gullet making him gasp desperately for air as he fell to his knees then to the ground barely clinging to life.

Kneeling down Baca took the dagger from Eito with a smile then walked to the center recovering his long sword "NEXT?" smirked pointing his blade at the others

(chatting with Massimo) with boiling blood Massimo sat in the oak throne, his fingers crushing the wooden arms under his grip.

"Where is the honor issa shuzen? where is the honor my brother and I instilled in you so long ago." snarled Massimo raising his head his eyes burning with the fury of hellfire.

"If, no when I return I will remind you. I will remind you of honor with the spilling of your blood SHUZEN!"
