Cardin Winchester
"Ah." Mayden says as he looks at ironwood leaving. "What a man, who is now about to do something to change his ways...or make things worse." Mayden gave a non-existent shrug. "Oh well. Not my problem anymore. Hahahaha!"
Regardless, the time to cause more chaos was now. Something that'll be fun, aside from those who dislike his methods.
Honestly, it was sad how the readers of this story are. Complaining how he's a jerk, a monster, someone that deserves karma and many hating him because of his personality. Yet they root for other Keepers who bash Cinder and her crew, give the Brothers a fate worse than death, criticize the heroes for their mistakes, and so on and so forth. Yet when he bashes and treats everybody equally with hate, suddenly that's a mistake? They clearly needed another story then if they can't handle this viewing.
Moving on, time to cause mischief for the RWBY storyline.
Poof!
"Huh? Where am I?" An obnoxious voice of someone yells out. One who hasn't been seen for countless volumes already and is regarded as little more but a stereotypical bully.
"Cardin Winchester." Mayden chuckles as he forces the bully down, and begins implanting the knowledge he needs for this theatre. "Congratulations. You have been chosen to view a scene of your world that may help it."
"Wha-wha-what the hell?" Cardin yells, angered that he was kidnapped yet also interested at the same time. Mayden decided to let him calm down as the two-bit bully with little character development just swore around here and there. Still, even a sad character like Cardin had 'uses'.
"So then, calmed down?" Mayden asks after two minutes, with Cardin eventually nodding grumpily.
"Yeah, yeah, I have." He crossed his arms. "I'm just suppose to see something from Remnant and then you just let me go. Right?"
A gloved hand appeared and slapped Cardin in the face before giving him a thumbs up. "Yep!"
"What the fuck!" Cardin yells as he tries to grab the gloved hand, only for it to disappear. "What was that for!?"
"Neh. I just did it just because." Mayden says, though admittedly didn't just like the dude. He had a role, but he honestly wasn't much of a character. Heck, only a few authors in the RWBY fanfic community use him as a character, and even fewer are good. Canon Cardin ain't one of them.
The screen then turned on.
"Just watch this and you'll be able to return back home with juicy information." Mayden tells Cardin who reluctantly accepts it. The bully hated this situation, but there was nothing he could really do at all.
'This bastard is too strong.' Cardin thought as he may not be the brigthest bulb at Beacon, but he's far from stupid either. He knew nothing of this guy's full power, and there was no body to assault. Plus, best not to anger Mayden or who knows what'll happen. 'Besides,' Cardin leaned back and summoned an extra large soda with popcorn. 'This might be interesting.'
At this point, an image could be seen and Cardin narrowed his eyes. Watching as what appeared to be a scene outside of Beacon, maybe Vale itself. Cardin pondered if this is the future, or the past.
It was then words were seen, and Cardin read them.
Your hopes have become my burden.
I will find my own liberation.
The scene then changes to that of a red tree forest, with the shattered moon seen and falling petals all around. Eventually the focused lowered and soon showed a young woman with black hair, and a pair of cat ears on her head.
Cardin spat his rink out at shock.
"Hehehe." Mayden then giggled as Cardin looked down and saw his outfit was now sticky and ruined.
"Damn it!" He roared as he also saw his popcorn was now wet. That damn cat girl! This was all her fault for showing up! Yep, a bully who blamed others indeed. Still, as Cardin did his best to clean himself and his sticky chin, he wondered what that damn girl was doing there.
Blake Belladonna sat on the rock, head looking at the sky. As she watched the petals fall, she then heard a voice that spoke to her.
"Blake." They said, "It's time."
Blake then turned her head with her long hair waving the wind, and while appearing rather nervous said, "Okay…"
"Damn is she hot." Mayden says with Cardin looking shocked. "What. Despite character flaws, she looks pretty good."
Cardin rolled his eyes, but secretly could't deny for an animal she had the looks, eyes, body and chest to agree with it.
The scene changes once more, and then two people flash by. One of them was Blake, yet the first was a mystery as they had gone too fast. It was then after a bit, the two exited the red tree forest and were at a ledge of sort that showed mountains and the red grass. Blake and the mystery man stopped, where it shows the man wearing a dark outfit and had red hair, a sword, and a mask with horns on his head. Yet even then, his identity was a mystery.
The birds there cawed.
Where down below, the sounds of a train is heard and later the train itself seen. It was coming at a rapid pace on the tracks. Moving very quickly. Yet to Blake and the strange man above, they could make it by timing it right.
The man jumped first with Blake following soon after. Skidding down the mountain side with ease until suddenly, both jumped high in the air where both soon landed on the train. Where quickly they ran and soon began breaking and entering it.
"What in the...no way!" Cardin's eyes widened. He couldn't be certain what was going on entirely, but he knew one thing. "Adam Taurus!"
What the hell was that stupid cat doing with a known terrorist? Not to mention busting into a train and-hold on a second! Train...breaking in...Wasn't that on the news months ago? Plus it was then Cardin realized another fact that he didn't notice originally. Blake, she didn't have her little bow on, and was a faunus!
"That little bitch." A girl that was in truth a faunus. With Adam Taurs. Illegally entering a train. Yes, Cardin saw what was going on now.
"Understanding now, huh." With Mayden giving a trademark chuckle.
"That animal is part of the White Fang!" Cardin yells. To think, a White Fang agent was in Beacon. Where he never even knew at all until this moment. Cardin gritted his teeth, feeling like a fool for not realizing this sooner.
"Yeah. And all it took was a little bow to hide her identity." Mayden says also amazed by it. While he didn't hate how the writers of Rooster Teeth have Blake go to Beacon to find a new path, it was all weird how they didn't give her a new outfit to hide herself! Not to mention she didn't even change her name. No wonder Adam found her so quick.
The duo soon entered, and were inside a dark room. The man known as Adam spoke saying, "Looks like we're gonna be doing this the hard way."
To show why, it revealed the room the two were in are all machines who were quick to sense their presence. Old model machinery from Atlas, with scary visors that then gleamed as they detected Adam and Blake.
"Don't be so dramatic." Blake says as she gets ready to pull out her weapon. The two faunus are then back-to-back, while the bots turn their hands into machine guns.
One of them then asks, "Intruder. Identify yourself."
Adam just smirks as he clicks a small hidden button, where his sword flies out and rams it's blunt end on the machine and sent it back. Adam then rushes quickly and in a matter of moments, cuts it down.
It became apparent that the two faunus were criminals, and the remaining machines acted with one summoning out blades to fight with the rest of the machines following after to strike.
Blake avoided their attack by using her shadow clones to then get behind them and take the group out. Adam coming in and slicing at them and sending those behind Blake back. The duo shooting and cutting down any bot that came their way. Not letting even a single one get at them.
Eventually one bot decided to just shoot at them. Adam of course parried all the bullets with his immense speed and reflexes. Blake of course then rushed in and avoided the bullets and took out some bots before she got at the shooter, cutting it down from trying to stop them.
The cat faunus then kept on moving using her shadow clones to evade and use as shields while taking out many of the machines. She sliced apart one of the last where Adam came behind her and kicked it so hard it went past the door and broke it off. The duo exited out of the train cart instantly.
Of course then exiting didn't help as the bots from other carts had already received the warning and were on their way to confront them up-top. Not that it scared them with Adam telling Blake, "Let's do this!"
"Damn animals!" Cardin, ever the racist, then yells as he was unimpressed by those Atlas tin cans. "If it was me, I'd have gotten them."
"Sure you would." Mayden mocked as he laughed. "You'd just be beaten up super quick. Or killed." Adam at this time may not be the psychopath he is now, but a somewhat calm person willing to kill smoothly.
Cardin growled but didn't deny those claims. Not to mention pissed at how...\good Blake was. No wonder she always won in those spars. A terrorist would have training that normal people who wished to enter Beacon didn't have.
Still though, how could a terrorist like her be free to walk in daylight.
'Then again, it's not like all terrorists are known.' Until something or someone got an image or video of them. Blinking, a small grin came out of Cardin's lips as he secretly took out a scroll.
Mayden of course saw this...But did nothing even when Cardin pushed the record button.
Adam rushed at the first to, beat them up with Blake hot on his heels and kicked them away. More surrounded them but Blake used her ribbon to extend and used it to pull back and slice at what would have been an attacking bot. Adam jumped in her space and gave support while Blake used her ribbon in tangent with her sharp weapon to slice all the bots around her.
The two proceeded to continuously deal with all machines with great effort. It was only a matter of seconds until all the bots were dealt with. Quickly entering the next card where they found their prize after looking at one another.
Dust.
Adam opened it up and said, "Perfect. Move up to the next cart." He then looks at Blake. "I'll set the charges."
"What about the crew members?" Blake then asked.
"What about them?" Adam just scoffed.
Though before an answer can come, robotic clicking is heard and both look backward.
...where a massive spider-like machine appeared. Dark red, numerous cannons, it was massive and ready to attack.
"Now that's a boss battle." Cardin grinned as he couldn't wait to see this thing take those two out.
The massive mech looked at the intruders, Adam and Blake. Where it then raised it's cannons at them, intending to annihilate them. It's intimidating appearance definitely shook Blake a little.
"Adam!" She looks at her mentor who just walked calmly.
As for the Spider Droid, it raised it's cannons and emitted a blue light ready to shoot. Blueish white energy orbs came out and headed toward the White Fang members. The duo dodged them all earnestly, knowing full well a single hit may end or cause deadly harm. More so when they were in a room full of explosive Dust.
So to stop it, Blake jumped up towards it and tried to cut it's head.
Clang!
Naturally, the metal resisted such an attack and Blake was sent back. The Spider Droid tried to finish her off only for Adam to come in and attack it. Getting its attention by slashing at it many times. Not that it caused much damage with the machine then kicking Adam away and firing at him.
The bull faunus quick on his feet and avoided the attacks. Though at the cost of causing some crates to fall. He stopped however when he then saw Blake about to be stomped on, rushed to her side, grabbed her, then ran off towards the end of the cart and put Blake down. The cat faunus quick to say, "We need to get out of here!"
Especially since the Spider Droid instantly used it's canons to merge and ready to fire a powerful attack. One that did fire and blasted the two faunus out of the cart along with the door they slammed into. Both grunting as they landed on the train while the machine came after them.
Adam realized the problem and had a way. But it wasn't instant and shouted at Blake telling her, "Buy me some time!"
"Are you sure?" Blake asks.
"Do it!" On his order, Blake ran.
"Hopefully that thing will get her." Cardin says before he then looks around. "Hey, voice!"
A book falls on his head and a comedical bump appears. "Yes?"
Carding growled, but decided to ignore the stupid joke and asks, "This scene. It is from the past, isn't it?"
"It is." Mayden replies. "I don't know the exact date, but it occurs roughly before the start of Beacon's new term for new students."
"I see." Cardin sneaks a look at his scroll, still recording this. "So you're saying Blake was doing crime all this time?" He then adjusted it a bit to get Mayden's answer."Stuff that ruined lives."
"Uncertain really." Mayden gives a non-existent shrug. "Truthfully, I don't think she's even murdered." To soft-hearted to do it. "But yeah, she accomplished breaking and entering, stealing, illegal smuggling, and so on that'll get her imprisoned."
"Got it." Cardin smugly says, glad he got the answer as he turned to keep on watching.
Adam placed a hand on his weapon, staying still while he seemed to glow while Blake moved forward. She went to confront the Spider Droid and dodged it's attacks. Using her skill and weapon to move around it and even fling herself into the air. Yet even with her attacks and utilization of shadow clones and even bullets, no damage was done.
If anything, it caused the Spider Droid to try and fire again with it's fused cannon. Blake shouting, "Move!"
Adam didn't, and instead took his blade out of its sheath halfway and amazingly, the very energy shot at him didn't hit him but the blade and absorbed it.
Cardin's jaw dropped and he dropped his new soda on him again.
Mayden whistled. Adam may have been an asshole, but he had cool powers.
Adam continued to absorb the energy until soon enough, the attack stopped and Adam sheathed his blade. Where with a sinister laugh and glowing red, Adam looked at the Spider Droid with his mask. The machine attacked and attempted to stomp Adam by jumping on him.
Instead, with a simple swing...the entire Spider Droid was wiped out with everything around Adam blasting away. No trace of the machine was even found.
Cardin shivered a little, and while he would never admit it, may have peed himself a little.
The true face of a man who was not as tough as they thought they were, revealed.
Adam sheathed his blade again, glad he finished his work. He then turned and noticed something off with Blake and ran up to her, outstretching his hand. Blake then looks at him sadly and then just says one word. "Good-bye."
She then takes out her weapon and breaks the connection between her cart and Adam's. The cart she was on trailing off while the rest of the train kept going. Like so, Blake was gone.
The screen ended, and Cardin gulped.
It seems this Adam guy was a bit...tougher than he thought.
'Well, not my problem.' Cardin then thought as he looked at his scroll, soon grinning afterward. 'If anything, time to be a 'good citizen' and do a little...reporting.'
Cardin then got up, where a door of light appeared.
"Leaving already huh. Makes sense." Mayden says as he watches Cardin start to leave. Granted, he was still sticky and messy, but that's Cardin's problem, not his. Still, seeing that scroll… "Guess you'll be doing the 'good' work, huh."
"Oh I am." Cardin chuckles. "I am." He then left and was gone. Mayden feeling a bit pleased.
"Consequences always come." Mayden says as he was always amazed that in the end, Blake never received any consequences for all the crimes she pulled during her time and instead got a good chance to be the hero she wanted. A good thing really, since her actions are aiding the world of Remnant itself. Perfect even!
But what if that were to change.
"Guess I'll check it out later." Mayden says as he then continues to pick his next guest and more chaos spreads.
And another jerkass move by Mayden, who has summoned Cardin who now has a recording of Blake doing crime...That can't be good, obviously. But now for another matter, people's reactions to Mayden.
Get over it.
I'm not asking you to like him. Hell, hate him, insult him, show even disgust. But if you're asking me to change his personality or give him karma, then forget it. If people have read other reaction fic, then usually the Keeper/Lord of Multiverse/or whatever they call themselves, they to bash characters they don't like and readers accept it. Here, I'm showing a character who treats all the characters equally with hate, being a deconstruction of sorts as this is a guy who has the power to put the RWBY cast in their place, can't get karma because obviously he's to strong, and can do whatever he wants just like other Keepers.
The biggest difference is obviously that unlike the other reaction fics, Mayden is ACTIVELY a jerk and as some of you noticed, doesn't give a damn if Remnant suffers for his actions contrast to other Keepers who wish to help Remnant. Basically put, Mayden isn't evil, just apathetic and gives no damn if Remnant is doomed by the knowledge he gives and is not kind-hearted.
And if some of you readers can't handle it, then sorry, but maybe this isn't a story you should read and go to another reaction fic if so. That's all I'll say so those of you complaining in the reviews or PM'ing me to change or give Mayden akrma give up. To the rest of you who like this story, then I hope you continue having fun reading it.
