Velvet Scarlatina

"So, I'm just here to watch the past, present, or future in order to see if I can help?" Velvet asked, being the latest guest here. Mayden just giggling.

"Or do nothing." Mayden says to the good rabbit-bunny girl faunus. Truthfully, he didn't know the difference between a rabbit and bunny. Just that they were cute, and while Velvet's not her type, she's okay in his book.

"But why would I do nothing?" Velvet says, taken aback by such words. "If I see a problem, then I will help out."

"Or maybe there will be no problem at all." Mayden answers back with a non-existent grin of his. "I could show you something nice little bunny." Velvet narrowed her eyes at the invisibly entity at his words. "What's wrong? Don't like being called a bunny?"

"Only one person can call me that." She growls, as Mayden's voice reminds her of a certain bully.

"I'm not racist, but I won't stop either bunny." Mayden casually says, not giving a care for her feelings making her growl a bit more. Still, not like she could do anything against him. Unfortunately, she could do nothing but just take it. At the very least this Mayden person didn't seem racist.

"Alright bunny-butt, let's get to watching."

'But he's still a jerk.' Velvet puffed her cheeks.

"Anyway," Mayden said as the screen lit up. "For the time being, I will show you a scene of the relatively distant future."

"The future." Now that could be useful. Velvet could see something interesting from there.

"Yep. So have fun with that." Mayden chuckled. "I'm sure the information you'll get will be useful. Or not." It all depends on one's perspective. The lights of the theatre then went out to begin the showing for this week.

Once Velvet sat back and relaxed, the screen began playing.

"You don't know me, but I most certainly know who you are." A voice then says, before revealing it to be a man behind a screen. One with white hair, a robotic red eye, and clearly looked less than sane. "Four such terrific students such as yourselves."

It then revealed none other than the members of team RWBY. Each with...completely different outfits as they made battle poses and attacks. With the strange man then saying, "Oh this should be an easy test, right?"

Team RWBY is then seen in their usual outfits...as numerous Grimm are then seen coming at them in a horde. Weiss Schnee herself then sarcastically commenting, "And I thought today would be relaxing."

"Woah there!" Velvet looks worried now. "What in, is this a test for those girls?" Velvet knew Beacon sometimes had teams go out and exterminate Grimm, but there seemed to be something off about this. Particularly that man. "Who is he?"

"Someone that clearly doesn't look good." Mayden points out the obvious with Velvet crossing her arms in frustration.

"Yes, I get that." She said already knowing this. Maybe she's a bit quick to judge, but that man didn't exactly speak in a way that gave good thoughts. Not to mention this 'test' he mentioned didn't sound like the usual Grimm exterminations. She was certain he wasn't even part of the teaching staff.

'Not to mention those outfits.' It was a quick look before the girls went back to their usual clothing. However, Velvet recognized that material as Atlas uniforms of sorts made for the cold and handling the weather. She should know since she's been in Atlas when she visited her father.

But what were the girls doing wearing such outfits.

'Atlas did arrive, and Mayden said this is a scene of the distant future.' Maybe Atlas gave them new uniforms. Though that didn't explain the mystery man or where Team RWBY were at. Must be something important.

Team RWBY is then on the move in their varied uniforms, as they each collide against the Grimm together as one unit.

"Best friend ever!" Ruby herself yelled as she slashed at some Grimm who oddly didn't get cut in half, but took damage nonetheless and even disappeared while Yang punched some Grimm to oblivion.

Next it then showed Pyrrha Nikos herself. Who faced what appeared to be killer robots that she and Ruby took care of quickly as possible. Yang then coming in yelling a 'Boo Yeah!' while taking out some Creeps with Ruby's help.

It was then Team RWBY is seen posing in what was clearly some sweet 'Power Armor' like it was made from Atlas due to its futuristic setting. The girls looking rather fine in them as it matched their color themes.

Where it then revealed none other than Team JNPR themselves. With Jaune Arc bravely taking on the bots head on with his shield.

A second later, Ruby, Yang, Nora and Ren were all inside the strange complex...wearing pajamas, a dress, and school uniform while Ruby said, "Yeah. Boom. Doom station."

Professor Ozpin on the scroll then said, "That definitely got it's attention."

"And would get Coco red mad!" Velvet says as she looks shocked at what the girls were even wearing. I mean, pajamas! A dress for formal settings! Velvet wasn't as picky with clothing as Coco, but even she felt this was too much.

"They do look ridiculous, don't they?" Mayden chuckles as he looks at JNPR. "I suppose that's they're charm. In a goofy way."

"I guess." Velvet says while imagining Coco is with her. Who would no doubt just be complaining a lot to her on how horrible those outfits were for the setting. She wouldn't hesitate to say what's on her mind with Coco probably saying a few curses as well. "But I thought this was just an RWBY mission thing."

"It is."

"Then...why is JNPR there as well?"

"Something about switching places." Or as Mayden knew it, co-op mode! The world of video games had different rules compared to the living and animated realms. Just like how the FGO Babylonia anime had Ritsuka more emotional compared to the game version. Both are the same yet ever so different.

"...right." Velvet said, not sure what Mayden really meant. Still, this is definitely no ordinary Grimm extermination event. I mean robots, not to mention that shady man from earlier. Something was up, and it might involve criminals. Velvet kept her eye further open to see just what else would happen.

The shady man is seen again. Speaking. "The Grimm are our superior species." He proclaims as it then shows the Grimm themselves. As they growl and show off their strength. "They're unrivaled raw aggression makes them the perfect vessel." Different locations are then seen with the Grimm in all sorts of habitats while then showing a mysterious lab of sorts.

However, what really stood out was a green glowing Creep with Merlot smugly saying, "Nature couldn't make a beast this deadly." The man then says, "So I did!"

"...huh?" Velvet blinks, before her jaw drops. "Eh?!"

Okay, this man wasn't just some shady person. He's an insane person! Velvet looking towards the entity that brought her here. "Did he say what I think he said!?"

"Are those ears for show or something?" Mayden rolls his non-existent eyes. "Yes, he said what he said. Pay attention girl!" Velvet huffed again. She really didn't like his attitude. Still...she did learn something alright.

'Some mad man is experimenting on Grimm!' Such a thing was illegal. Not to mention no sane person would make humanity's greatest threat even stronger, as only a fool would consider it. 'Or in this case, a mad scientist.'

Even worse however, is that Team RWBY and Team JNPR are facing these things! Oh dear. Is this future Velvet needed to prevent? If so, then she'll do her dang hardest to defend them. Granted, she didn't know when this would happen, where, or even how it would occur. But hey, she won't let a bunch of first years suffer like this.

Velvet may not be the best of friends with them, but it would be wrong to let them go through this!

Yang just scoffed. "This guy must think he's really tough."

Words that weren't taken back. Even with the ground bursting and countless Grimm and mutant green ones came out, including a massive mutant Death Stalker. The girls not showing even an ounce of fear.

The scorpion then sending a rain of green death with Merlot gladly saying, "Stings a little, doesn't it!"

Blake is then seen defending some kind of device from the Grimm. "Time to clean this place out."

In another place, Yang and Weiss protected another of the strange devices with Yang jokingly saying, "That's gonna leave a mark." All while beating down Grimm with her fists.

The girls are facing many threats like a machine shooting countless bullets from a gatling gun. Or powerful mutant Grimm that they were forced to avoid like Ruby herself. Merlot gleeful at testing the mutant's might against them.

"Let's end this with a bang!" Then with those words, the girls continued to face the march of Grimm. Attacking in different areas. Combining their might. Even just using their simplest attacks on the Grimm as they faced their foes. From cutting, to punching, freezing, to slicing. Not one of the girls gave up with it all ending in a literal Yang as she attacked the Death Stalker one last time.

The screen went dark.

"Eh?" Velvet goes. "That's...that's it."

"Pretty much." Mayden says. "Honestly, I thought it'd be longer." Guess that's what happens when one uses a minute long trailer. This sucked!

"Well...at least I now know I can keep an eye on those girls, just in case." Mayden giggled at her words. Velvet frowning. "Is there something wrong with that?"

"No. Not at all." Other than this moment has already passed. Set between Volume 2 and 3, and done by this point in time. Oh how sad for Velvet. Hey, at least he didn't show her anything tragic, so no problem done here. Just no useful aid as well.

Still. Fact is this viewing ended way to quick. As such, best to add another thing just to help out. "Congrats bunny butt." Mayden calls out everyone's favorite bunny. "You get to see another clip."

"Really?" Velvet grew excited.

"Consider it a bonus." Mayden then quickly overlooked what to show her until he found just the right one. "Alright then, sit back bun-bun. Because time for some action."

"Huh?" Velvet tilts her head. "But didn't I just see action?" Like with RWBY crushing the Grimm, bots, and JNPR joining in as well.

"Hm. Good point. In that case," Mayden found the perfect one. "Maybe something with savagery words." One Mayden liked a lot. As it showed a certain character that they certainly weren't as cool as they thought they were. Plus, it may or may not actually help Velvet out, as this one is actually from the future. So then without further ado, start.

A woman is seen. One that was quite beautiful, yet scarred at the same time. Having soft skin on one half, while the other was covered yet still showed what appeared to bve marks behind the eye patch while having short dark hair. Yet any beauty this woman might have had was gone as she smiled savagely while clenching her fist in flame and a nasty gooey thing extended from what appeared to be from a stump that was burnt. Eye burning in anticipation.

Yet that smile then turned to a frown and the flames died out when laughter was heard.

Where it then revealed the woman had an inhumane hand, holding a poor man extended from the roof of a building where she could let go and drop him. Yet the man laughed regardless.

"What the hell." Velvet says as she looks at the girl while showing caution. She wasn't sure why, but she felt like she knew that girl. No, that's not right. At the very least seen her before, but where. Aslo, what was up with that hand? Not to mention the man?

While Velvet considered asking Mayden, she realized he probably won't answer her at all. As such, she paid close attention to see what was about to happen next.

Yet even now, she could tell things were about to get tense.

'Like you wouldn't believe it.' Mayden agreed.

As the man keeps laughing, he finally has enough reason to talk. Saying, "Oh, of course you are!" The man then gives a good hard look at the girl. "Because that's just what you do, isn't it?"

Then, to the girl's surprise, he lets go of the in humane arm despite his life being on the line. The man then said, "And how has that worked out for you?" The girl made a frown. "You stormed into Fria's room thinking you could take on Ironwood's top fighter and war machine. But you couldn't."

A flashback shows the girl screeching in pain inside a frost-covered room, as black mist comes from her missing arm.

"And that machine became the Winter Maiden!"

"Winter Maiden?" As in the fairy tale?

"Some things are not what they seem." Mayden chuckles. "Though in some cases, they are."

"The...Grimm arm you mean?" Velvet says, as she gazes at this girl's inhuman hand. Pondering yet fearfully wondering how the girl even received such a horrific thing. Then she recalled Merlot.

Could this girl be working with him? And if so, who is that man and why is she trying to kill him. Maybe these flashbacks will help, while also questioning if this 'Penny' girl the man spoke of uis someone she didn't know...or the girl she saw at Beacon.

Back on the roof, the man then sarcastically spoke while slapping his head. Continuing to speak telling the girl, "Oh, and let's not forget your deal with Raven Branwen. Get all your enemies in one place so you'd have a shot at revenge!"

A flashback shows the girl, in a different outfit back then while showing her nasty scar, falling into the dark. But worse, freezing up somehow while her face showed utter shock.

That memory, the girl growled while her eye lit up in flames at such remarks.

The man didn't care and just rubbed his chin while smiling. "If only someone could've warned you against such a miserable idea." Then any trace of sarcasm is gone as he then angrily points at himself yelling. "Oh wait... I DID!"

"Is this good?" Velvet asks. "Not trying to judge the man here. It's clear this girl has problems or whatever. But he does realize that she could kill him."

"He does." Mayden nods. "But when people get angry and are near death, they either beg for mercy, scream, or in his case, become defiant to the end."

Velvet said nothing, but was a bit impressed. Honestly, this sounds like something Coco would do. Still, this made her fear for the man. She didn't know who he was, but chances are this girl, clearly a villain, is threatening him.

'But wait. Didn't he mention how he's advising her?' Ah man, now she's confused more. Still, at least she knew that the girl was clearly a villain and needed to be wary of. She should keep an eye out for those with less than normal hands.

The man was more angry now as he pointed at the girl as if accusing her. Shouting, "But you pushed ahead and you lost it when all you had to do was your job!"

This time the girl is snarling as an unnatural power, her semblance (?) begins to swirl around her in flames. Even so, the man didn't stop even as her eye glew bright at his outburst. "You think you're entitled to everything just because you've suffered, but suffering isn't enough!"

A flashback of what appears to be the girl but younger, being shocked as she screams in pain. Falling on her knees as a mystery woman comes with a remote on her hands.

"You can't just be strong, you have to be smart!" The man tells her as he points at his head at the ending there while the girls fist clenches. You can't just be deserving, you have to be worthy!" The man makes motions with his hands before bringing them up to his face and clenching them in fists while glaring at her with the girl's fiery eye does the same only nastier. "But all you have ever been…" The man finally screams at the top of his lungs. "IS A BLOODY MIGRAINE!"

Velvet looked away. Certain the man was about to die.

After all, in shows and comics like this the villain whose given such a brutal talking usually kills the person as they fail to acknowledge the flaws they were told of their character. However, she felt an unnatural force make her head twist and watch as Mayden says, "This is the good part. Now watch."

Velvet has no choice. Yet the next scene was certainly going to surprise her.

Unknown people begin cheering and yelling in a background that doesn't even match the misty city the two were previously in. All while the girl herself looks sad and the flames around her go away.

Walking away from the man who is now back on the roof while she sits down on the other side and silently cries while more cheering continues.

The screen going dark after that.

"...eh?" Velvet says as Mayden then laughs aloud.

"Oh yeah. That one always gets me! Hahaha!" Mayden wipes away a non-existent tear. "Oh boy. A great cli-I mean, future scene." Loads of people liked that rant and for good reason. After all, it showed what should have been a nerd having the guts to say all that to a total egotistical bitch! Sure she got her mojo back at the end of number 8, but not before people had to see her poor characterization and rude attitude for the last few volumes.

As for poor little Velvet, she was just uncertain how to feel about the dining there other than the man was safe, the villain cried, and people from nowhere cheering. Still, at least she got some information. To watch out for this strange woman. No doubt a threat while she kept an eye for Team RWBY on Merlot, and also check in with Penny.

'Not that it helps me find this chick, whatever this Winter Maiden is all about, Fria, and all sorts of junk.' Velvet sighs as she thinks this. Still, at least she got...decent enough information for the time being. Getting to see two clips for the price of one sitting. Standing up, Velvet sees a glowing door. "Um, thanks for the viewings Mayden."

"Your welcome kid. Who knows, maybe you and your team will finally enter the show again after being side casts after all this time." Mayden cryptically says with Velvet deciding to ignore that since it felt ominous. Anyway, time to convince Coco and her team to help her out in watching out for the villainous chick.

Then like so she was gone.

I did say not everything will be tragic. But not everything seen in these theatres will be useful either. In this case, Mayden tricked Velvet in thinking Grimm Eclipse will happen, which won't be useful now. On the other hand, she has seen Cinder I'm betting before, vaguely of course. So the second clip may help her if she ever sees her again.

But overall, pointless info that didn't show big threats at all. What a shame.

This is a calling out to time travel fics towards Jaune or Ruby who go back in time and seem to get it right thanks to their info. But what happens if some of their info is plain wrong or doesn't help at certain moments? That's what's happening here. In any case, until next time.
