"There you are!" said old Teuchi as he placed two ramen servings in front of the newly couple "You seem a little down these days Naruto, is everything Okay?" He asked.
"Y-yeah old man!" the blonde managed to say "I'm fine, it's just studies are being hard that's all" he laughed awkwardly scratching the back of his head "You know me! He he…". The ramen shop owner was still concerned but he couldn't answer more because his daughter appeared behind him with a killer aura.
"You stop being nosy and leave this couple be!" she growled "They're on a date you old man!"
"IEEEEEE!" Teuchi screamed "don't scare me like that I'm an old man!" he put one hand on his chest. He sighed "I need to clean some dishes on the back, if you need anything or someone else comes call me" the man waved at him
"WHAT? 'If someone else comes call me'?" his daughter was shouting at him while they were leaving "Are you making him work for you now?" Naruto sweat dropped.
"Nee… that was awkward" he said.
"Eat your ramen Naruto-kun, it will make you feel a little better" Hinata who was sitting next to he said. It had been two months since they were going out, and it was wonderful. He felt like an idiot for not acknowledged her feelings earlier and he couldn't believe he felt in love so easily with her, but now he was he couldn't understand how he hadn't noticed before.
"Thanks Hinata-chan!" he beamed at her "You always know how to make me feel right!"
"Silly, I just remembered you that you had your ramen in front of you" the brunette said "Have you found something about them?" she went straight to the point.
"Not yet…" the Uzumaki said as he slurped his noodles "But Kakashi sensei said he had a lead. I'm sure he'll find them". They were interrupted but a puff of smoke and Pakkun appeared in front of them. The shinobi could also feel someone else approaching to the village.
"Kid, you better hurry to the Hokage tower" the dog said. Naruto looked at Hinata who nodded at him.
"Old man! We have to run!" Naruto shouted as the Hyuuga left the payment of their food "Hinata-chan…" he said
"This one goes on me Naruto-kun" she smiled at him with love "now let's get going!" she walked him outside the shop.
'Sasuke… you finally came back' the Uzumaki thought.
The couple found that Shikamaru and Sai were already in Kakashi's office. The sixth Hokage was surprised when he saw the blonde arriving with Hinata
"Oh..." he said raising an eyebrow amused "Did I interrupt your date?" he asked in a flirtatious tone. The Nara sighed and Sai was trying to catch up with the sarcasm.
"I'm sorry Lord Sixth" the girl bowed "I don't want to interrupt, I'll be going" she turned to leave but was interrupted by Kakashi's voice.
"Nee Hinata-chan I was kidding!" he smiled through his mask "I also summoned you with other dog. I guess Pakkun found you first" the kunoichi nodded not fully understanding why she was also summoned.
"Ahh... You actually cared for my last letter I see... Sasuke-kun" the Hokage said emphasizing the '-Kun' looking at his window where the Uchiha was standing like a crow.
"Kakashi" he greeted in his monotone.
"Bastard that's all you have to say after being out for so long?" Naruto recriminated his friend. "You didn't even bother to answer my letters"
"Your calligraphy is bad and your orthography is worse" Sasuke simple said "It would hurt my eyes even more than the Mangekyo"
"But you have an eternal Mangekyo... WAIT!" the blonde was about to charge onto him but his girlfriend stopped him. Kakashi was really amused. Shikamaru being the most serious there interrupted the scene
"Lord Sixth you summoned us, I guess you have a lead" the Nara reasoned.
"Yes, I fact I think I have" the shinobi answered.
"What is going on?" the Uchiha asked "And Why don't I sense Sakura's Chakra in the village?" the Hokage raise both eyebrows now 'straight to the point, interesting"
"You haven't told him!?" Naruto demanded his former sensei who shrugged. Sai took that moment to intervene.
"Sakura-san and Hikari-san vanished on our last mission and we haven't been able to find them since." The pale shinobi said with his typical emotionless voice "That's why you haven't felt her chakra, they are not here"
Sasuke expression was odd. His eyes opened just slightly wider, but they could notice his jaw tensing and his fist clenched.
"When was that?" hi simply asked in a low dangerous voice.
"Two months ago, when we went to the moon ... they..." Sai started but the shinobi interrupted
"SINCE THAT DAY THEY'RE GONE AND YOU DIDN'T EVEN TELL ME!?" Sasuke burst at Naruto "YOU WRITE TONES OF CRAP IN YOUR LETTERS BUT YOU FOUND THIS NOT IMPORTANT!?" his fist were tighter now
"I told him not to say anything by letter. This has been a secret here" Kakashi said calm from behind of his desk "People think they are on a mission outside the country. It would be troublesome if some enemy learned that"
"How this could happen?" the Uchiha said calmer, though his voice sounded equally dangerous.
"Hamura Ōtsutsuki" Shikamaru said "He intercepted us on the moon and made them disappear"
"The other Ōtsutsuki brother?" he asked.
"Yes" the Nara answered. "We were intercepted by him while we were rescuing Hanabi-san. He spoke us about Toneri and then he looked at Hikari and Sakura and some white appeared blinding us all. When the light was gone, so were them Hamura included."
"Sasuke..." Naruto tried to say but he was interrupted.
"What did you do then?" the Uchiha preferred to talk to Shikamaru right now. He was starting to get really mad at his friend and he didn't know why yet. Or maybe he knew, he knew all this time but lied to himself.
"We looked for them everywhere but the only thing that was left was one of Hikari's kunai" he answered "Kurama didn't feel her too, and you know her chakra is sort of linked with his. So he confirmed us that they weren't there anymore. We had the mission, we needed to retrieve Hanabi and defeat Toneri because he was planning to destroy the earth. And after all was finished we still couldn't find them, so we've been researching since".
There was an awkward pause and everybody could feel the tension. Kakashi was expectant of what would his former student's reaction would be. He never expected to whiteness what he saw though. Sasuke launched himself over Naruto and grabbed him by his shirt's collar, Sharingan on.
"WHY THE FUCK DID YOU NOT PROTECT HER!?" he demanded with great anger "YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO PROTECT HER YOU DAMN USURATONKACHI!". Everybody was surprised by his reaction but also Naruto's. He was overwhelmed, not able to answer his friend, not able to defend himself. "BUT NOW YOU PREFER TO PLAY LOVELY BIRDS WITH THAT HYUUGA INSTEAD OF WORRYING FOR YOUR BEST FRIEND. YOU... YOU LOVED HER!" The blonde's eyes burned with unshed tears, he haven't seen friend this mad since ages. And he was right, he had loved her. And he still loved her like his family. He was also destroyed about losing his beloved cousin too. And he was at loss of words. The Uchiha was enraged even more with his passiveness so he was about to punch him but then a hand stopped him full of chakra.
"You better say sorry to Naruto-kun right now, Sasuke-san" Hinata said, flaring chakra and with her Byakugan beating in her eyes. "He couldn't do anything like any of us. And he is also feeling the loss of Hikari-san too. You're being insensitive."
"WHY YOU..." He looked at her and he thought of attacking her but she had his arm firmly grabbed blocking the chakra path. She was no match to him, but the authority she emanated, and the fury her eyes bore made him stop. She wasn't retaining him with her strength, she was doing it with her presence 'When did this girl became so confident?' he thought.
"We are all aware that Naruto-kun loved Sakura-san. He told her that every time he could. He has been sincere with his feelings forever. And that love evolved to the love you have to your family. She is her family, just like Hikari-san. I assume you know what to lose your family feels like" the Hyuuga said coldly. Naruto was amazed how she was handling Sasuke. The latter felt his blood gone cold, how did she dare to say that! But the byakugan princess didn't stop there.
"Just because you were a coward to express your fellings to Sakura-san in time doesn't make you less responsible to leave her here. She always loved you, even though you kept failing on her. And you're again being a coward now by blaming Naruto while you were absent." Hinata finished. When she felt the Uchiha's resistance lowering she let go of his arm and stopped flaring chakra.
"Hinata-chan..." Naruto said "T-thank you" a tear rolled down his cheek and she wiped it.
"We are going to find them Naruto-kun." She smiled sweetly at him "You'll see..." The Uzumaki suddenly hugged her in front of everybody and finally cried after two months of swallowing pain. Sasuke took some steps back as he reached the window, but Kakashi had moved quickly and was standing on it.
"Yo!" he said remembering him of the past "You don't get to run away from this Sasuke. I know it hurts your feelings, but we all need to work together to bring them back from wherever the hell they are. I'm positive they are doing fine because they are a great team. So please go back inside the room." His former sensei smiled softly behind his mask and put a hand over his shoulders. Sasuke couldn't cry. The last time he did is when he understood everything after his fight with Naruto. He intuitively looked at his friend, who was torn apart and hugging the woman he seemed to love now. 'How could all of this happen?' he thought. He complied with Kakashi and walked to the center of the room again. The Hokage jumped over his seat again and he cleared his voice.
"Ejemm, Naruto, I know you're feeling upset. You bottled your feelings up for too long but... Could you please take your hands of Hinata-chan?" he snorted. The couple blushed hard and let each other go, but the Hyuuga grabbed the blonde's hand to encourage him. 'That's what she always tried to give me...' Sasuke thought 'Sakura always wanted for me to feel alright, to comfort me. DAMN IT, I WAS SO STUPID' he gritted his teeth.
"Okay this is what we've got" Kakashi said while putting Hikari's kunai over the desk. "This is the only thing that was left of them and we've been studying it. Tsunade-sama did a hell of a discovery but I need to recheck it." Everybody looked at him confused "Sasuke Kun, Hinata-chan, could you please check the kunai with your dojutsu please?" The two of them looked at each other and did as asked.
"There seem to be some chakra vestiges there." The Uchiha said with his Mangekyo on "They are Hikari's". Kakashi nodded and then looked at the kunoichi that had her Byakugan on.
"He's right, but there is something odd with that chakra" she said "It has a weird activity"
"What do you mean by that?" Naruto asked her.
"I am not sure" Hinata said "But it seems it is Hikari-san's chakra but altered somehow."
"That is weird" he answered.
"Indeed" Kakashi said. "Ne... Naruto, could you please summon one small sage toad? A big one would destroy my office" he asked. The Jinchuriki looked at him not understanding but summoned a toad anyway.
"You called me Naruto? It's been a long time, what is going on?" the toad asked.
"Hi Fukasaku-baa!" the blonde greeted him. "Kakashi-sensei here asked me to summon one of the sage toads, and you're the only one that fits in here" he joked. The toad sweat dropped.
"Fukasaku-sama" The Hokage called "I'm sorry to bother you but this is an urgent matter and it is also connected with Hikari-chan."
"Hikari-Hime?" the toad was surprised. "What happened? I cannot feel her..."
"That's why we need you" Kakashi said and told him what had happened. "So we need you to check this kunai please."
The toad jumped over the desk and grabbed the weapon. He moved it quite few times and became utterly surprised with what he discovered.
"So?" Kakashi asked.
"Interdimensional chakra" Fukasaku concluded. "They are not in this dimension" he added astounded. "What did Hamura exactly said before their disappearance?"
Everybody was surprised that the Toad seemed to know that Hamura Otsutsuki was involved.
FLASHBACK
"Dear Imouto, I'm so pleased to see you!" he said in a voice full of emotion. "I may have not been able to save you, but I am going to make a gift to you and also your pink haired friend here. You both deserve to be happy"...
END OF FLASHBACK
While Fukasaku studied the words the Ōtsutsuki said Sasuke couldn't believe what he had heard. 'Both of you deserve to be happy? Why couldn't they be happy here? More important would he be able to make Sakura happy if she ever came back?'
"Nee, Fukusaku-baa" Naruto asked. "How didi you knew about Hamura?"
"We toads know the Sixth Paths' Sage chakra lineage" he simply explained "Can I take this to Mount Myoboku?" the toad asked "There's something I need to ask to Gamamaru-sama but in need to show him this for that"
"Go ahead; just be careful, that's our only proof." Kakashi compelled.
"Don't worry I won't even tame it" he formed a chakra cage to it so the journey didn't corrupt the kunai. "I'll be back in just a moment" he added and disappeared with the Kunai.
"So," Sai finally talked again "If they are in another dimension Sasuke might find them right?"
"We don't have an actually lead on that." The Uchiha said "It's hard for me to trace chakra, but We could give It a shot" he added.
Minutes that seemed hours passed and Fukasaku reappeared without being summoned with the kunai still on the chakra cage.
"I believe we are doomed" he sighed.
"Come again?" Kakashi asked, almost in unison, with everybody.
"For us toads that live in the Mount, we don't have a particular way of time passing, right Naruto?" he asked
"That's true!" the Uzumaki said "Most of you are really old"
"Yes indeed" the toad explained "Gamamaru-sama was the toad that trained Rikudo Sennin. He has forgotten since how long he's been around, but he can certainly identify interdimensional and temporal chakra"
"Temporal?" Shikamaru asked. And Fukasaku nodded.
"That's why we're doomed" he said "They were send to the past."
"WHAT!?" Naruto shouted, followed by everybody in the room.
"How can Gamamaru-sama be so sure?" Kakashi asked this time.
"Because he can read traces of Hikari's chakra since he has an ancient connection with her" he explained "Not on because of the contract, but because of Kokoro Ōtsutsuki. He also trained her like he trained his brother". Everybody was in awe; they didn't know that part of the information.
"So, that's why the moon princess on the legend was a Sage?" Sasuke asked surprising the present. "I mean, Kokoro's story has to be the one that inspired the Legend of the moon princess from the Uchiha Clan"
"I heard something about that legend from Obito" the sixth said "But at that time I never payed attention to him" The Blonde sweat dropped.
"You never pay attention to anybody sensei!" he demanded and the man shrugged.
"The Uchiha had a legend of a princess daughter of the goddess of the moon, who was a natural Sage: she could control nature, that being elements and living beings" Fukasaku said "Her mother assigned a trusted guardian but they ended up falling in love and her mother, afraid that they might turn against her, killed them." Sasuke nodded
"It said that every night of red moon, the Moon Princess and her lover would meet again at the same spot they were murdered and the moon would absorb their blood, freeing their souls to love again until the next red moon comes" he completed.
"Yes, that's taken from Kokoro's true story though it's not completely accurate" the toad said.
"How's that?" the Nara questioned the toad
"Because Kokoro actually had the nature's power in within her, but she had to learn how to be a Sage to control her powers" Fukasaku explained "That's why she went with her brother to train with Gamamaru-sama. That's how she became a Sage, but she wasn't born like that. Her mother was aware of her daughter's potential so she sort of limited it with a certain jutsu making the girl be weak until she became mad and released her powers. Of course by weakening her she left her defenseless so she asked for one of Hagoromo's friend who was adept to chakra because he had been trained by him, and lend him power to protect her daughter. The man, named Takato, ended up falling for Kokoro and so did she, and Kaguya went crazy when she found out that her daughter had also fell for a human so she entered in rampage mode and accelerated her attack to earth with the sacred tree. In that fight Kokoro ended up being killed by the Juubi along with Takato that had tried to put in-between them. They ended up impaled by one of the Juubi's tail. So actually her mother didn't kill her."
"What a tragedy!" Hinata exclaimed
"Indeed" the toad said "And since Gamamaru-sama knows to perfection Kokoro's Chakra since she had a contract direct with him, he can follow it wherever or whenever it is."
"And when is that?" Shikamaru demanded.
"It seems to be a hundred years in the past or so." Fukasaku answered "He isn't sure though. But he feels his chakra being related to her again in another dimension, a hundred years ago"
"That's wicked, that's the warring era" Naruto observed "So he can feel in other dimensions and another time spaces, can he connect to them? Can we go there and take them?"
"Yes and no" the old toad answered "Gamamaru-sama can feel it, but no toad can travel interdimetionally through time. I'm sorry"
"But then again, why Sakura?" Sasuke asked in a deep baritone voice "What the hell she has to do with anything?"
"I can't answer that" Fukasaku said "The only thing I could think of is that maybe she is sort of related with the Ōtsutsuki in some way... because Hamura seemed to know her, right?"
"We don't know for sure, but it was actually odd for him to say 'your pink hair friend' and that the both of them deserved happiness." Shikamaru thought out loud "maybe he sensed that Sakura had lost her parents or something?"
"If that's the case, all of us have lost something" Sai intervened "I don't actually see the point there"
"You're right" the Nara said "Still we're also not sure they are both together. Let's hope that"
There was silence in the room; everybody was lost on their thoughts. It lasted for a while until Kakashi finally spoke.
"What we know here is that most probably they both were sent to a hundred years in the past" he said "we don't know his intentions though, because we can't assure what he meant by happiness. We know where they disappeared and the power the person that send them to wherever or whenever they are." Everybody was paying attention to him waiting for orders. "What we need to do is to try to detect exactly when and where they are, and what was the jutsu used for that to try to replicate it." He made a small pause "I hate to say this, but odds are against us. Even if Naruto could access to the sixth path mode again, we're not actually sure he could do that."
"You can't achieve Sixth path mode anymore?" Sasuke interrupted and asked the Blonde.
"Well, no. I have what I call Kumara mode" Naruto say "Kumara lends me his power and it seems like sixth sage but I don't have his powers anymore."
"That's weird" the Uchiha mumbled.
"What?" his friend asked.
"It's weird because I still have my Rinnegan" he said "If he did lend you his powers they are probably still in you"
"That's a good observation" Kakashi said. "Then it's settled. Sasuke you will go to Tonneri's dimension to gather all the information you can find. Naruto we need you to train with Kumara to see if you still have some sixth path chakra within you. If what we know is right, both siblings shared the same power, if we can deconstruct the jutsu we might recreate it to bring them back. Hinata-chan, please train with him, I need you to check his chakra with your dojutsu" The blonde and his girlfriend nodded "Sai, you investigate with Sasuke, try to work together" the mentioned looked at each other unsympathetically "Shikamaru, I need you to work with our scientists to try to understand how chakra can manipulate time and space."
"Right" the Nara said.
"Thank you very much Fukasaku-sama" the Hokage said to the toad.
"No problem" the mentioned said "We'll be checking the continuum to see if it changes again" he looked at Naruto "Bye kid, if you need help, come and find us"
"By old toad!" the blonde greeted as Fukasaku disappeared in a poof of smoke.
"Okay, let's start this mission!" Kakashi clapped his hands and everybody left.
"Sasuke!" Naruto called his friend outside the Hokage's tower. He didn't acknowledge him. "DAMMIT TEME LISTEN UP!" he shouted and that made the Uchiha stop on his tracks.
"I am sorry for what happened to Sakura-chan" the blonde apologized. "I also lost Hikari-chan on this. They are both my most precious people you know?"
"You gave up on her" Sasuke uttered.
"What?" his friend reacted
"You said you loved her for kami knows how long. And now you're in love with this Hyuuga girl?" the Uchiha spat with hatred "You were supposed to be there with her always"
"What are you talking about?" Naruto was angry "I WAS ALWAYS WITH HER!" he screamed "EVERY TIME SHE CRYIED BECAUSE OF YOU. I WAS THERE WHEN SHE TRIED TO STOP EVERYBODY FROM KILLING YOU, WHEN SHE SAID SHE LOVED ME BECAUSE SHE THOUGHT THAT IF I GOT WHAT I WANTED I WOULD GIVE UP ON YOU, SHE WANTED TO PROTECT ME AND SAVE YOU FROM DARKNESS. I WHITNESSED HOW SHE LOVED YOU, AND WANTED TO KILL YOU BY HER HAND BECAUSE SHE FELT RESPONSIBLE FOR NOT STOPPING YOU, FOR BEING WEAK. SHE DIDN'T WANT YOU TO FALL INTO DARKNESS AND WAS ABOUT TO KILL YOU, THE LOVE OF HER LIFE BECAUSE OF THAT." It was surprising to see how the cocky Uchiha became startled with all Naruto had screamed at him. Hinata, Sai and Shikamaru were witnessing all from the towers front door.
"AND ITS TRUE" the blonde continued "I LOVED HER FOR MOST OF MY LIVE, BUT SHE LOVED YOU, AND I UNDERSTOOD THAT. EVENTUALLY I JUST LOVED HER AS A SISTER. SHE'S MY FAMILY. SHE'S ALWAYS BEEN THERE FOR ME. AND SHE EVEN MADE ME REALIZE MY FEELINGS FOR HINATA. BECAUSE I FELL FOR HER IN OUR MISSION. I WAS TOO DENSE TO REALIZE WHAT I WAS FEELING, THE WORRY, THE JEALOUSY, THE HURT WHEN SHE LEFT WITH TONERI. AND SAKURA MADE ME REALIZE THAT I JUST WAS IN LOVE WITH HINATA."
Kakashi was hiding at the lateral of the tower and was amazed on how finally Naruto confronted Sasuke, not through a fight, but with his feelings. The pain he suffered from Sasuke breaking their hearts. He was really proud of his student. He was going to be a great Hokage.
"SO DON'T YOU DARE TO TELL ME I WASN'T WITH HER" he finally spat. "YOUR STILL JUST A SCAREDY CAT THAT COULDN'T BE THERE FOR HER AND YOU'RE BLAMING IT ON ME" he was agitated and it didn't help him that the Uchiha was frozen in his spot. The Hokage took advantage of a small pause and appeared in-between them.
"Yo, Naruto, Sasuke, you better not talk further about the issue on the streets." Their former sensei muttered "The girls are in a mission as far as we are concerned and will come back one day or another."
"Hn." Sasuke mumbled, he had finally regained his consciousness, and he turned his back to them and shunshined.
"AGHHH that teme!" Naruto exclaimed. "I'm sorry Kakashi sensei; I don't know what got into me."
"You just told him the last thing you had left to tell him." The older shinobi smiled at him kindly from behind his mask "I'm proud of you, this is going to be a fresh start" he said that last part looking past him and waving at Hinata. "Now, finish your date and start to work!" he poked him and also disappeared in a puff of smoke. The blonde sighed and then went to Hinata's encounter.
"I'm sorry for all you had to hear Hinata-chan" he said "S-Sakura... I-i..." he was really embarrassed because he had just admitted he had loved another woman in front of his girlfriend.
"I always knew you loved her" the albino eyed simply said. "That's why it was so weird when you fell for me." She smiled.
"Why wouldn't I?" Naruto rhetorically asked as he caressed her cheek. She still got all flustered with him sometimes, but fortunately she didn't faint anymore. "Let's continue our date and then why don't we start chakra training?"
"Mm O-Okay" she answered aware, and left with him again to the ramen shop. Sai and Shikamaru deadpanned.
"They totally forgot about us" the pale man said.
"Indeed..." the Nara shook his head. "I hope the girls are doing fine. We'll gonna save them." He added and Sai nodded.
Funny thing though, the girls didn't need to be saved –at least now- and they were having the greatest time in a Far in time Konoha Festival.
*****AUTHORS NOTES****
Ha! This was an unexpected Chapter. But I felt I needed to write about them, just because every fanfic with Time travelling does not explain how the present people are affected by it.
I also have mixed emotions with The Last, because I felt it rushed and almost like a filler to explain how Naruto ended up with Hinata and not with Sakura in Ch.700. I know it is Canon, and I don't hate it, don't worry. I'm not happy with Sakura telling Naruto that he was in love with her just to compete with Sasuke. That was a serious mistake from Kishimoto. he laughed of his own creation by stating Naruto's feelings were shallow. THOUGH…! I also know someone can fall in love in a month, and that sort of happened there, but needed a bit of further explanation. I kind of like Hinata's attitude in that movie, so I wanted to portray it against Sasuke, a character I always liked and hated. He needed to be put in place.
Anyway, don't worry; next chapter will continue the original plot.

Blueberritah: Yes, I like to think that Madara and Sakura are kind of dense in a cute way. But they won't always be like that. This is brand new and unexpected for them, so I love to write this sort of interactions.
UchihaAiya: I am really looking forward to write Mito! She will appear but the Village needs to be a bit more stable and crowded –meaning new clans – for the Uzumaki to show up. She will be a great addition to the story, such as another female chapter (OC) that will appear soon and I already love… Ahhhh.
