Chapter 5: a monster, a beast and a demon
Normal pov
After forming the alliance the preparations began. Anastasia forces arrive to the crush state for what he heard from Felix Anastasia army consisted mostly of demihumans mercenaries. it was weird for subaru a lot of the soldiers and mercenaries were looking at him.
Subaru:'yeah I know they are black could you stop looking at them, i know i'm a freak thanks for the reminder'
Subaru was on his way to the stables where Felix and Rem were waiting for him to choose an earth dragon but to arrive there he had to pass for the garden where all their forces were staying. He just wanted to pass and avoid their gazes but in the middle of the path something small grabbed his jacket. Turning around he saw 3 little demi humans staring at him. They all had orange hair and cat features. the one holding him had pigtails, the one on the right had monocle and the one left had short hair apparently they were the sub captains of the mercenary group their and names were mimi hetaro and tivey who then proceed to bombard him with question about his battle with archbishop of lust, his arms and his strategies. He was saved from the avalanche of questions by the captain of army mercenaries, Ricardo who was a wolf demi human who was happy to meet him in his words.
"with someone who killed a dragon on his own this hunt is going to be breeze"
Those encouraging words and the questions from the trio reintroduce something to subaru. expectations and pressure now people were expecting him to succeed his Word and opinion had value so any loss would also be on him, he had put other lifes in the line and he only knew how to fight to protect himself. It was an unpleasant feeling.
While Subaru thought about his new found responsibilities he arrived at the stables where both Felix and Rem waited from him inside he saw multiple dragons but one shine before the rest one looked directly into his eyes.
Subaru:"this one Felix I think we understand each other"
He said as he petted the creature
Felix:"that one, normally they are prideful and unfriendly species but know you maybe that why you get along so well just be careful you are gonna make rem jealous"
Rem:"rem will not be defeated in race for subaru heart"
Subaru just stood there while the dragon and rem looked at each other, rem had met her rival since Emilia hadn't officially entered to the race yet rem wasn't worried she had aventege but the aura of this dragon is clearly a force to be reckoned with. Subaru named her patrasche.
With things set and after a speech to their troops before they part to the great flugel tree where subaru assured the whale will appear at 4:45 am.
The camp was set as the cannons ready and all the groups divided in 15. After all it was said that the fog of the whale erased people from existence, taking even the memory of them, maybe it could erase them from their memories but it could not erase common sense.
While they waited for the night, Subaru sat in the base of the flugel tree still worried. Will he be able to kill this thing, is it gonna even appear crush was doing this for her honor more than faith, is he gonna become the joke of all lugica again those thoughts were interrupted by who had become his most reliable partner.
Rem:" subaru are you alright is battle worrying you"
Subaru:" kinda if that thing doesn't show up im going to become a joke again and in Contrary if it shows up well we will have to kill it and every death is going to be my fault. I put together this hunt but I can only protect myself. I'm scared".
Rem:"rem knows that today people are going to die today it's inevitable but the fact that subaru is still thinking a way to save everybody makes me believe that is possible but even if subaru can't save everybody subaru will always be a hero in rem eyes"
Subaru felt some of the pressure go away as got up, he remembered that he wasn't doing this for glory he was fighting for arlam Village and for his friends in the Emilia camp even if she was angry at him.
With his confidence back and after a little talk with Wilhelm about his past they were ready.
As the hour of the battle approximate subaru was looking to his Phone to know the time he was riding patrasche with rem

Crush had her doubts about subaru info the cult had sent empty treats before but considering that archbishop tried to kill subaru only to stop him for sharing this info she accepted maybe they change their plans since subaru had killed a leader of them at the very least she will help him look the forest around the matters domain so they can be sure but before she gave an order a shadow appear in the moon the whale was here and for nobody surprise the firsts to charge to the battle were subaru and rem.
Crush:"FOLLOW THOSE IDIOTS"
After crush scream the army began their attack rem used huma to pierce the belly of the mabeast as the misma of subaru catched the attention of the whale making follow them the army took the chance to land varius strikes at it with crush landing the strongest hit with wind blade the whale after that Wilhelm took the chance to jump on top of the whale
Wilhelm:"filthy beast this place would be your grave"
With quick move Wilhelm started to cut the beast with his sword at the same time mimi and her squad charged and stabbed the beast with lances and Ricardo cut down the eye with his meat cleaver
Crush:" Everybody disperse"
With crush order all melee fighters jumped away from the whale as the cannons and mages hit the whale Ricardo who landed close to subaru said
Ricardo:"shit this is gonna take time his scales disperse magic"
As Subaru was about to reply he noticed that whale eyes were changing color and from some holes of the whale the dreaded mist came up.
Thanks to patrasche subaru and rem were able to dogge the mist but other weren't so lucky by numbers they could tell that a whole squad was lost an it got worse when the whale let out a scream making the some of the soldiers lose their minds without thinking twice subaru looked at rem
Subaru:"i need you to come with me to the most dangerous place"
Rem:"yes whenever and wherever"
Subaru:"Everybody who can hear me cover your ears"
As they both ran in patrasche subaru shout out with all his lungs
Subaru:"I CAN RETURN FROM DEATH"
Time froze and subaru heard a voice speak to his ear
"i love you"
Subaru:"did it work"
Rem:"yeah you stink"
Subaru :"do have say it like that"
As the whale tried to eat them Wilhelm, Ricardo mimi and hetaro counterattacked
Wilhelm and Ricardo were on top of the whale cutting everything they could while mimi and hetaro let out a scream that sent a wind barrage into the whale who then proceeded to hide again in mist. As they looked around the beast appeared again above them after they all dodged it a second beast ate the land where willhelm landed in front of subaru for the second time the time stopped.
Subaru pov
Rage I was feeling it again. That thing just killed the person who botter to train me, the teachings that gave me a chance to end Capella life and earn my freedom. That thing ate him like nothing this World again laughing at me throwing some unbeatable enemy with broken power I was done with power scaling but Inside of me I felt something it started burning I turned my gaze to see another of this freaks coming at me I jumped on top of it and with a dagger that I asked for self defence I started to cut and stab it. blood started coming up from it staining my face and clothes as did this the whale tried to throw me out of his back but using my claws I manege keep myself on in but as I pierce his flesh I started feeling something it felt really good like warm feeling in my arm while this was happening the new whale started scream in pain and began falling to the ground doing all kind of moves to throw me down his bag I kept my grip firm I wouldn't let go this amazing feeling so easily whatever this was I knew it hurt like hell for the whale and I was loving it, before I knew we were in the ground the warm feeling had left but after getting my claw out I notice a couple of things.
1 this thing was dead not even moving
2 they were two more of them still in air
3 My claws were glowing.
4 my dagger melting in my hand
As I noticed that the glow disappeared leaving the claws with a strange aura in that moment Ricardo came to me.
Ricardo:" i don't know what the hell did you do but it worked against one of them can you pull that up again"
Subaru :"i don't know but I don't think i'm gonna need to"
As I threw the now useless dagger and used my claw to cut the corpse who started to rot really fast with that we both smiled at each other this was going to be fun.
Normal pov
This day surprises keep going after the others whales appear natsuki subaru snapped and after leaving out what rem described like mayor amount of misma she had smell in her life he started to cut the beast as good as Wilhelm then after the beast tried to get rid of him for some reason the beast fell to ground death after that both him and Ricardo came back with a plan and look that inspired confidence the fact that subaru was able to keep up with Ricardo who was riding a wolf was surprising.
Crush:"subaru what did you do, did find a weak point"
Subaru:"i don't know what the fuck happen but found something better but I need to get close to whale in the top"
As he said that rem came running to which subaru smiled
Subaru:"rem I need you to throw me with your huma at the bicth that's hiding up there"
Rem didn't think twice as she began to create ice lance then subaru jumped on top it and launched subaru before the lance could hit his target subaru claw corrode the thing but Impulse was enough for subaru to land in horn of the beast
Subaru:"very well you piece shit let me give you taste of your own medicine"
With a smug smile subaru started to cut with his claws the whale spreading the rot in all his body soon the whale bagan falling to alining with flugel tree as that happen subaru jumped away from the whale rem who was riding patrasche catched subaru who with some concentration was able to remove the rot aura from his claws.
As this was happening Ricardo blew up the flugel tree and made it fall in the whale who thanks to the rot of subaru dieth in that moment the 3 whale also fell to the ground they had won and avenged both theresÃa and will…
Before they end that a sword pierced from the inside of the 3 whale emerging and wounded but alive wilhelm as they celebrating the victory subaru heard a voice
"not bad for a meatbag it look you weren't so useless after all"
Subaru started looking around looking for the source of that voice but he couldn't find her. He knew it was off but in that moment rem jumped and hugged him. Maybe for now he could ignore it. as he reciproques the hug as the sun rises.
Subaru:"one is down one is left"
Subaru didn't know fully what he had done but still if he keep it like this the cult will not have chance
If only things could be always that simple.

Hey guys I hope you guys liked the chapter it was the hardest to write yet this was the debut of subaru authority of lust so in chapter i could show strong points and let the seed of down sides one thing I want to leave clear is that subaru can get new abilities only from mabeast and only when the are weaken so reason it work with whale it was because it was one of the copies and on top of that it was hurt also I think of the rot as a nerf version of the erasure still very effective
The other thing is that I'm still dont a name for subaru authority so feel free of leaving suggestions
