Chapter 8: the calm between storms
Normal pov
After the group hug everybody exit the dungeon in the mansion subaru was greeted by crush and Felix apparently they spent the night in the mansion. after petelgeuse's failed attempt to hijack subaru body rem brought him back to the center of village where all the troops were celebrating.
Flashback
Rem:"I NEED HELP QUICKLY SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH SUBARU "
Upon hearing this call for help all the healers around ran quickly to help everybody attention was directed to rem who had Subaru
Emilia :" Rem what happen subaru is"
The moment that Emilia got close enough she started healing subaru but while she tried to get information from rem she noticed something subaru was not healing
Emilia:"wh why is not working"
Emilia tried to increase the amount of mana but she stopped by Felix who was arriving there
Felix:"lady Emilia please don't waste your mana on it doesn't work not on him at least"
Emilia:"how, what even happen to him"
Felix:"i I don't really know it happen after he killed the archbishop"
Rem:"could you stop that subaru is in danger that monster tried to take subaru body"
Ricardo and Julius who just arrived heard the last sentence and as a reflex they took their weapons out, scaring both Emilia and Rem who started preparing to defend subaru.
Rem:"drop them you aren't going to hurt him"
Ricardo:"if that thing is inside of him we have to be ready"
Before the situation scale into a battle crush intervene
Crush:"EVERYBODY CALM DOWN"
The scream made all the present stand in place
Crush:"good now rem tell us what happen"
Rem told how she saw Subaru go into the forest, how he started to scream and how she nearly got killed by the archbishop before everything suddenly stopped and Subaru collapsing while she talked, puck kept looking at Subaru finally touching Subaru forehead with his paw.
Puck:"his authority save him"
He said to himself but rem and emilia who were close enough heard him
Rem:"authority isn't that how sloth called his powers, what is maybe it is what's hurting him can't you be removed from him".
Puck:"i think it's better if we leave him at he is now there no way to take a witch factor without killing the host"
Emilia:"witch factor?, puck please we need you to explain this clearly"
Puck was now cursing his mouth seeing Subaru in the process of absorbing a second witch factor was confusing enough to not watch what he was saying now he had to give them the class about witch factors and authorities.
Puck:"an authority is a power granted by the witch factors they represent a sin and they pass between hosts granting them powers in order to satisfy their sin, they have been around for a while. now the good thing is that subaru is compatible with them so we don't need to worry yet"
Crush:"What happens when you are no compatible and what do mean by yet"
Puck:"amm when a person isn't compatible well they go insane and turn into a witch or warlock like the witch of envy"
Upon saying that everybody felt a shiver running their backs the possibility of subaru turning into a warlock puck feeling that he screw up said
Puck:"Well that only happens if Subaru goes insane so we just have to keep an eye on him that's all".
Julius:"so that doesn't explain how he freed himself from the archbishop possession"
Puck:"witch factors are tricky when their host is ideal for their sin they tent hold into them and protect them for anything so they can keep feeding of them"
Felix:"so as long we can't take a decision until he wakes up until then the best would be to put him where he can't hurt anybody"
After the exchange they decide to leave him in the mansion dungeon and hope to the best both Emilia and Rem insist on adapting the dungeon to make it more comfortable.
Flashback end
After the battle the tropes were returning to the Capital, especially the mercenaries of anastasia. who apparently wanted to make sure that she didn't forget anybody and had a made list with the total of all her troops, crush was about to return but she wanted at least to say goodbyes to Subaru who had become a close friend of hers as they leave Felix spoke to crush
Felix:"it's really safe leave him alone after all that puck said I know its subaru but I think this World have enough problems as it its"
Crush:"that's why we have to leave him be it is madness is what will turn him into a monster and the ones who have the best chance to keep him sane are lady emilia and rem"
Felix:"i hope you are right on this one"
It was time after all this adventure subaru had been waiting to do something he called Emilia, puck, rem and beatrice who was there just for puck to the garden there they saw standing in front of Hole he had dug on the ground.
Subaru:"thanks for coming today we are saying our final goodbyes to my tracksuit who served me bravery against the archbishop of lust I never going to have another set of clothes more reliable as"
As Subaru's speech about the importance and history of his tracksuit continued Emilia asked quietly for something to rem.
Emilia:"didn't you make more of them to him a while back"
Rem:"Rem did but now rem wants to try new styles for subaru kun to look even more handsome"
Emilia:"but he loves his tracksuit look"
Rem:"Rem knows that why rem is keeping one to gift him as birthday present and gain more of his love"
Emilia didn't understand but she feel something in her chest when rem mentioned the love part before she could procesos this feeling subaru said something
Subaru:"Does anybody want to say something before we continue with the funeral".
Rem raised her hand
Rem:"subaru tracksuit was clothes he wore the day he become rem hero therefore they always be in rem good memories and they would be missed"
Subaru:"thank you rem somebody else has something to say"
Emilia wanted to say something seeing that rem words made subaru smile but then beatrice raised her hand
Beatrice:"Why do you have claws now? In fact "
Subaru:"about my tracksuit"
Beatrice put her hand down
Subaru :"now we are going to proceed with funeral"
As Subaru proceeded to throw dirt to the remains of his tracksuit, Emilia remembered something that Subaru told her "people sing in the funeral of their close friends" . Maybe she could do the same to cheer Subaru up that morning all the present and animals close cried thanks to Emilia's performance.

After recovering from Emilia singing attempt beatrice asked subaru again
Beatrice:"What happen to you, your misma is twice strong and you have claws so what mess did get yourself into I suppose"
Subaru:"well puck told me that look like this because I absorbed a witch factor"
Beatrice when she heard that touch in and then spoke
Beatrice:"so you got an authority an killed geuse with it i suppose"
Subaru:"geuse you mean petelgeuse you knew that idiot"
Beatrice:"before he went crazy with power yes I did in fact"
Subaru:"So it is true no matter what I do I'm just going to become crazy and kill everybody I care about like some crazy witch''.
Beatrice:"hey betty's mother was a witch and she never hurt anybody in fact"
Beatrice screamed but the Last part of words she sounded unsure like she was trying to convince herself of something.
Subaru:"Wait your mother was a witch? If she didn't hurt then maybe she had a way to control the authorities. Do you know it? Can you teach me how to control it? then I wouldn't hurt anybody"
Beatrice:"and whats make you think that betty is going to waste her time in you betty has more important things to do"
Subaru:"i could help you in those things and then you teach me how to handle this power I could be your apprentice or something like that"
Beatrice started looking at Subaru while she really didn't need help with the library; she was just waiting for that person to come. but subaru wasn't asking for the knowledge of the library he was looking to learn control of his authority maybe she could help him and research how authorities work while they were at it after all she had noticed that his regeneration was fascinating his gate was completely heal and back at full capacity if her mother were alive she would be running all kind of experiments on him beatrice gave him a quick response
Beatrice:"betty will think about it"
She would think about it later. Well, it could be a way to pass time while that person decides to show up.
After the little exchange beatrice went with puck to play leaving subaru with his thoughts
Subaru:'i need to find more info about beako mother if she truly was a witch then maybe there hope for me maybe rosewall knows something'
As this thoughts runned around subaru's head he saw ram walking with two new maid one was petra one of the childs of irlam the village, the other one was a tall blonde woman with green eyes feeling curious subaru approached them
Subaru:"hey ram petra and maid I don't know"
Ram:"as always barusu fails to be gentleman"
Maid:"its pleasure to meet you I assume you are natsuki subaru my is Frederica bauman"
Subaru noticed her swarb teeth but adstain to make a commentary after all he had two deathly weapons for hands so who he was to judge.
Subaru:"well its pleasure to meet you also I didn't expect to see you here petra huh why are you so red do you feel alright "
Petra was now a mess. Miss Ram had told her about Subaru's new look but it was too much for her. This more wild appearance really suited him. As subaru tried to see if she was fine she grew more red. At that moment she was saved by ram.
Ram:" barusu could stop perving on little girls with ugly eyes"
Subaru:"oh sorry I must really look scary now don't worry petra i'm still me"
Petra:"i'm not scared I just need to get use to subaru new look"
Ram:"By the way barusu I need to go to the village and get a carriage apparently lord rosewall need us to go to the sanctuary there still a couple of mercanchs in the zone"
Subaru:"alright the I should get going good to see you petra"
In his way to the what remained of the village subaru was feeling strange he couldn't relax like somebody was hiding in the forest at one point upon hearing a stick crack subaru jumped to attack with his claws only to find a rabbit now death in his hands feelings guilty subaru dug a little Hole and buried the animal unknown to him two figures in robes were watching him
??? :"well his reflexes are up to the standards of mother but he is too soft, are you sure it's him big sis?
???:"all the info seems to point to him and remember he only met mother for a day is expected to him to still be like that"
???:"so what we are going to do that creepy clown guy said we have to kill the maids and the spirit inside the mansion"
???:"well its seems that has to change after all we just found our new little brother we can't start with wrong foot"
??? :"so we wait for a winner and then we make our move"
??? :"you are learning so fast melli"
??? :" its thanks to you Elsa"
Hey guys here chapter 8 I wanted to make a little interlude before beginning with the arc 4 since Subaru doesn't really need to go to the capital now that rem is with him and I cant have Subaru finding out about the ambush yet.
