Chapter 10: Rescue and Feelings
The snow fell as Marshall and Snowflake slept peacefully, embracing each other.
The next day, the pups were playing in the snow, having a blast! From snowman, to snow ball fights, everyone was having a good time. Suddenly, Ryder got a call on his pup pad.
"Hello, Ryder here!" Ryder said, answering the call.
"Ryder, we need help! A family went to their vacation cabin out earlier this week in the woods, but it suddenly caught on fire! Can you help them out?" Mr. Porter explained, with a concerned look on his face.
"Of course, Mr. Porter! No job is too big, no pup is too small!" Ryder replied before sliding the side of his pup pad, and clicking the red button in the center of the circle of colors.
The pups kept playing in the snow. Rolling around in the snow with joy until suddenly their pup tags all glowed.
"PAW Patrol, to The Lookout!" came the voice of Ryder over the glowing pup tags.
"Ryder needs us!" the pups exclaimed before running to the elevator. As they ran though, Marshall slipped on some ice, making him slide into a pile of soft snow. The pup got covered in it, looking like some kind of snow pup come to life. Either that or some snow ghost pup.
"Hey! Get me outta here! Help!" Marshall calked out, as he wondered about, covered completely in snow. The rest of the pups made it to the elevator, but noticed one of them was missing.
"Hey, whers's Marshall?" Snowflake asked curiously. Suddenly, she got her answer when a snow pup came running towards them, before sliding, and crashed into them.
"Looks like the snow like me, more than I like it!" Marshall said, earning laughs from the rest of the pups. The elevator then went up, the paw badge lit up on the tower, and as the elevator continued up, the pups were all dressed in their rescue outfits. Once it stopped, the pups jumped out, and got into their positions.
"PAW Patrol, ready for action, Ryder sir!" Chase said, ready for the mission they were about to recieve. Ryder clicked his pup pad before a screen came down, showing a the situation on the screen.
"Thank you for coming pups. A family went on vacation in the woids to a cabin, and now the cabin is on fire! We need to put the fire out and make sure everyone is safe. So first I'll need ... Marshall. I need you to find out what type of fire this is, and put it out!" Ryder said.
"I'm fired up!" Marshall replied with his catchphrase. Ryder ran his finger over the pup pad to a new pup's symbol.
"Chase, I need you to put out cones and keep people safe while we put out the fire!" Ryder instructed.
"Chase is on the case!" Chase said, using his catchphrase. Ryder ran his finger across the pup pad again to another symbol.
"Snowflake, I need to make sure nobody is in the burning cabin. If there is, get them out quickly, but carefully," Ryder told the husky.
"Leave no rock, tree, or clue unseen!" the husky responded with her catchphrase.
"Alright! PAW Patrol is on a roll!" Ryder said with excitement as the pups howled with joy. Ryder then went to the metal pole and slid down it, while the pups used the slide to slide to their vehicles. Snowflake just ran over to the slide, jumped onto it and howled before sliding down.
Once everyone was in their vehicles, they drove to where the cabin fire was. It was pretty intense!
"Marshall, quick! We need to find out what fire this is!" Ryder told the Dalmatian pup. Marshall got out of his fire truck and ran near the house. He sniffed the air, but couldn't sense anything.
"Ryder! I can't tell from out here. I need to-" Marshall began saying until the group heard something. A meow.
"There's a kitten in there!" Snowflake said as she heard the meow. Ryder thought quickly and turned to the pups.
"Snowflake, you go inside, and look for that kitten! Marshall, figure out what fire this is. Once you do, tell me through your collar so we can put it out! Hurry!" Ryder told them.
"You got it Ryder!" Snowflake and Marshall replied before going into the burning cabin. The husky followed the sound of the meows, while Marshall looked for clues about the fire. He sniffed the air the deeper in he got, trying to find out how the fire started.
As he sniffed though, a different smell also filled the air; towards the kitchen? It didn't smell like burnt food! It smelled like a nice scent, and waxy. Marshall sniffed some more while trying not to get too close to the flames. But the smell was throwing him off a bit.
"Huh? The air smells smokey, but also refreshing and waxy? Wait! Waxy and nice? I think this fire was caused by a candle! Ryder! I've smelled the air and it smells like a candle. Ask the owners if they had one in the house," Marshall said before reporting the information to Ryder through his oup tag. After a while, he got a reply.
"Yes Marshall. The owners had a candle burning in the house. But it was covered by a glass case. It must have faallen over and started the fire. Just a regular wax candle," Ryder replied through the pup tag.
"Great! Turn the water cannon on my fire truck. This fire is safe to put out!" Marshall responded before barking his own water cannon from his pup pack, and started putting out the fire.
Meanwhile, Snowflake carefully ran throughout the house, trying to find fhe kitten. Every room she cgecked didn't have a scary meow in it. It also didm't help that she had to be carefully considered the fire. Once she got to the main bedroom however, she saw it; a gray kitten with frightened blue eyes staring at her. She looked around, trying to find something to put the kitten in. But something that wouldn't catch fire either. But almost everything was on fire. Then, she spotted something; a blue blanket. She got it and went to the kitten.
"Here kitty. It's okay. I'm going to help you. Come on," Snowflake said sweetly, letting the kittenbwalk over to her. The kitten stepped on the blue blanket and licked Snowflake on the nose.
"Good kitty. Now, I'm going to get you somewhere safe," Snowflake said before lifting the corners of the blanket, and hokding it in her mouth. The kitten was in the blanket but no longer touching the ground. Snowflake moved quickly but carefully as the kitten meowed.
"You're okay. We're getting out," Snowflake reassured the kitten as they carefully ran downstairs, and out the front door. Once outside, Snowflake went to the family that was standing nearby, and put the blanket down. The kitten meowed as it was reunited.
"Thank you" said the daughter as she gently hugged the kitten, and petted Snowflake. Snowflake was happy the kitten was safe.
"You're welcome," the husky said before returning to Ryder. The ten year old boy was using the hose on Marshall's fire turck to help put out the fire. The cabin looked like it was only halfway put out. He then stopped, and called Marshall on his pup pad.
"Marshall, it's Ryder! Half the cabin is put out, but the rest of the cabin is still on fire!" Ryder told the pup.
"Okay. It looks like only the front is on fire. Keep straying the hose. Once it's clear, I'll get out and help," Marshall replied through his pup tag to the pup pad.
Inside, Marshall kept spraying from his water cannon, while Ryder used the hose from outside. The fire was getting put out, but slowly! After spraying down the last big flame, Marshall ran towards the front of the house. The upstairs parts were put out as well as mostly the lower part.
"Ryder! I'm heading out! The inside is mostly sprayed. The hose on my fire truck should get the rest - " Marshall said until he screamed! From the outside, parts of the roof, sides and stairs collapsed!
"MARSHALL!" Snowflake cried out in fright, afraid her friend was trapped inside.
