Chapter 13: Warming Up and Laundry
After Marshall went down the elevator, he walked back to his sleeping bag and went to sleep. He was glad he talked to Ryder; talking about his feelings really helped relax him.
Over the next several weeks, Marshall and Snowflake kept hanging out, played games like ball, playing pretend, and just getting to know each other. The two grew closer as friends as well as their crushes for each other.
Eventually, the snow was melting, and warm weather brought out the sun. This meant warmer weather, and more time to enjoy the day. The pups and Ryder all enjoyed the nice weather, as well as going on missions like they normally did.
One sunny day though, Snowflake and Marshall were playing tag when Ryder walked up to them. They stopped playing, and turned to the ten year old boy.
"Hi Ryder, where are you going?" Marshall asked. Ryder smiled.
"I'm going to get more dog food. The rest of the pups are at Katie's Pet Parlor getting baths. While I'm gone though, would you pups mind taking down the laundry on the clothesline?" Ryder replied.
"Of course we can. Wait, doesn't Marshall need a bath too?" Snowflake asked, slightky confused.
"I had one earlier," Marshall answered her. The pups wagged their tails as Ryder laughed, petting them before walking away.
"Thank you Marshall and Snowflake. I'll be back soon," Ryder told them as he left. The husky and Dalmatian looked at each other, then over to the clothesline.
"We better get started," Snowflake said before to two walked over to the clothesline. There were sweaters, blankets, and bed sheets hanging up everywhere. Marshall jumped to try and get a clothes pin, but missed.
"How are we going to get the clothes pins?" Marshall asked curiously.
"Well, we either need to jump over and over to get them, or pile on each other to grab them," Snowflake commented. Marshall nodded before trying to jump again. They were able to get some of the clothes pins but not all of them. After getting all the clothes pins they could after jumping, they took their time piling on top of each other to get the rest.
"There! The last one. Now we can take the laundry down," Snowflake said after putting the last clothes pin in the basket. The two fruends the got the sweaters down by jumping and grabbing them. Once folded, the sweaters were put away in the laundry basket.
"Time for the blankets!" Marshall commented, wagging his tail.
"Yeah!" Snowflake replied, also wagging her tail. The pups carefully pulled the blankets down, then took the time to fold them, and put them away. The basket of laundry was already getting full, so folding the bed sheets would be a simple task.
"Okay Marshall, we just need to pull the bed sheets down and put them in the basket - Marshall?" Snowflake said before turning around, noticing her spotted friend was missing. She decided to look for him around the clothesline.
"Marshall?" Snowflake called out, curiously. Suddenly, she heard giggling amoung the hanging pile of bed sheets. Marshall was definitely here!
"Marshall? I hear you! Come on out, little buddy!" Snowflake commented, trying to find him. As the two buddies walked and roamed around the sheets, it became an odd version of 'hide and seek' around the clothesline. So far, nobody was winning. However, the husky thought she saw Marshall's shadow on a sheet.
"Gotcha! Huh?" Snowflake said, quickly pulling the sheet to the side, but her friend wasn't there.
"Boo!" came a voice from behind the husky. Snowflake quickly turned around only to see a ghost jump at her, causing her to scream and jump in surprise!
"Ahhhhh!" Snowflake screamed as the ghost launched itself at her before both the husky and ghost fell forwards. As the two fell forward, theur fall caused another bed sheet to get pulled off the clothesline and land right on top of them.
"Ahhhh! Help! Marshall! A ghost! Help! Ahhhhh!" Snowflake exclaimed as she tried getting away from the ghost, and out of the fallen bed sheet at the same time.
"Oooooooooo! I'm going to haunt you! Ooooooooo!" the ghost said before it started laughing. A laugh that was quite familiar. The ghost lifted the bed sheet to reveal Marshall covered up under it. Snowflake rolled her eyes and laughed.
"MARSHALL! You silly ghost! We're suppose to get the bed sheets in the laundry basket; not play with them!" Snowflake commented jokingly.
"Ah come on. Can't we at least have SOME fun?" Marshall commented, still covered by the bed sheet.
"You're right. But we don't want to ruin the sheets either!" the husky pointed out. Marshall smiled.
"I know, but we should at least have SOME fun while putting the laundry away! Come on!" Marshall said before carefully running out of the sheet that covered them, still looking like a ghost under his ownnbed sheet.
"Hey! Wait for me! Ah! Hey! Who turned out the lights?" Snowflake responded before being covered under the bed sheet that was on her. The two friends then ran around, looking like bed sheet ghosts while also pulling down more sheets off the clothesline as they ran around. Soon, each pup had at least three or four sheets more on top of themselves, still wondering around like ghost pups.
Ryder came back only to see the two laughing, looking like ghosts, and having a good time. The ten year old boy shook his head in amusement before going to put the pup food away. Rydsr then washed his hands, and went out to the clothesline. He wanted to surprise them.
"Boo! - huh? Ah! Ahhhhh!" Ryder cried out, jumping from behind a bed sheet, only to trip and have the sheet fall on top of him.
"Hey! Who's there?" Marshall called out, before managing to poke his face out of his bed sheet entanglement. What greeted him however was another ghost. This spooked the Dally.
"Ahhhhhhh! Snowflake! Another ghost!" Marshall exclaimed, backing away from the ghost as it flailed it's arms around blindingly.
"'Another ghost'? Where?!" Snowflake answered before also poking her head out of the sheets that covered her. She then saw the ghost and screamed.
"Oh no! Ghost!" Snowflake and Marshall cried out before accidentally running into each other, getting stuck under their bed sheets again.
"Help! Ghost!" the two pups screamed as they struggled to get out of their bed sheets, running around frantically.
"No! Snowflake! Marshall! Calm down! I'm not a ghost!" the ghost said as it waved it's arms about. Soon, Marshall and Snowflake got their heads out of the bed sheets, only to see Ryder wiggle his way out of his own bed sheet.
"Ryder!" Marshall and Snowflake exclaimed before embracing their friend, still covered in bed sheets. The three friends hugged as they laughed, enjoying the silliness of the situation. However, Ryder noticed the two still covered up under bed sheets.
"Marshall. Snowflake. Didn't I tell you two to put the laundry away?" Ryder reminded them in a half joking, half serious voice.
"You did, but Marshall played hide and seek on me before I found him. Then he tackled me, looking like a ghost, and we figured we might as well have fun while putting the laundry away!" Snowflake explained. Ryder rolled his eyes in amusement.
"Okay. I understand. Just please be careful. I'll let you two keep putting the laundry away," Ryder said before petting their heads, getting up and walking away.
Snowflake and Marshall giggled before unraveling themselves from the bed sheets they were entangled in. Once unstuck, the pups folded the bed sheets one at a time before putting them in the laundry basket. They also took down the last few bed sheets down - without getting trapped in them - and put them away.
"Good job Snowflake, only one bed sheet left to go - Wahhhhh!" Marshall said before tripping over the sheet on the ground. Unfortunately, when Marshall tripped, and flew right into Snowflake, kissing her in the process by accident. The two pups landed right in the laundry basket before pulling away. They stared at each other, not knowing how to react to what had just happened.
A gasp was heard as Marshall and Snowflake turned to see the rest of the pups stared at them in shock. Nobody could realky explain what the pups had just seen they had all come back only to see the Marshall and Snowflake lying in the laundry basket, kissing.
Snowflake was nervous now at what had just occured. She whined as Marshall and her got off each other, and the laundry basket.
"We didn't kiss!" Snowflake exclaimed, with tears in her eyes before running off into her pup house.
