Frozen By Fear
Chapter 4.
"Come on, Ricky, you gotta eat, you'll get sick if you don't. " Kyle says, placing a cup of tea and a plate of toast on the coffee table.
"I'm not hungry, mate" Ricky replies, glancing up at him.
Kyle sighs.
Kyle's phone rang, as he answered it, Ricky left the flat, wanting to be on her own.
Kyle walks in to the house. "Heath, have you seen, Rick?"
"No, why?" Heath asks.
"She's gone. "
"What do you mean, gone?" Heath questions, strapping Case in to his high chair.
"I mean she's not in the flat." Kyle replies. "I turned my back and then she was gone. "
"You idiot. You check Angelo's, I'll call Bianca to see if she's seen her. " Heath gives out orders to track down Ricky, reaching for his phone. Selecting his wife's number, Heath hopes she'll pick up. "Hey, Bee. " He says as the call connects. "Can you find Ricky? She's not in the flat. "
Listening to his wife's reply, Heath replies. "Love you."
Heath turns to his nephew and starts patting his cheeks.
Bianca's coming out the diner, holding a coffee, when she sees Ricky, she's staring out at the sea, her knees pulled up to her chest, she heads over.
"Hey, Ricky, the boys are worried about you." Bianca says.
"I didn't want Kyle fussing over me. " Ricky
"He's fussing because he cares, like Heath and I do. " Bianca says, taking a sip of her coffee.
"I know," Ricky nods, standing up.
Establishes the situation
It's after lunch time, when Bianca pulls in to the car park in Yabbie Creek.
"Can we just?" The younger woman asks.
"Of course," Bianca nods, turning off the engine.
"I don't want to do this, " Ricky whispered.
"I know, it's hard, but it'll hopefully catch who did this to you. "
Colby looks up as the doors to the station open.
"Miss Sharpe, what Can I do for you?" Colby asked, seeing Ricky approach the desk.
Taking a deep breath, Ricky speaks. "I want to report a crime,"
Colby picks up a notepad and a pen. "What crime would that be?"
Taking another deep breath, Ricky speaks. "A sexual assault "
Colby writes on his pad. "Would you like to come with me?" He asks.
Ricky nods.
"I'll wait out here," Bianca smiles, sitting on a chair.
Ricky gives a small smile back, feeling sick at the fact she's about to relieve her horror. Colby opens a door marked "interview room 2"
"Before we start, Ricky, can I get you anything?" Colby asks.
"A glass of water?"
Colby nods and leaves the room, coming back a few minutes later, with a glass, putting it in front of her.
Colby sits down and switches on the recorder. "For the benefit of the tape, can you please state your name and address?"
"Erica Sharpe. 31 Saxton Avenue, Summer Bay. "
"What happened?"
"I was out with my mates, I'd left around midnight. A guy approached me and started touching me. "
"Did you get a look at him?" Colby
"No," Ricky shook her head.
Colby made some notes before switching off the recorder. "Thank you, Ricky, I'll be in touch. " Said Colby as he walked her out.
Seeing Ricky come out of the interview room, Bianca stood up and hugged her. "The hard bit's over. " She said as they walked out.
"I remember mine, it was uncomfortable but it was soon over. " Bianca said, her own attacker had eventually been jailed and Bianca wanted that justice for her friend.
Ricky was led in to a small room.
The door opened and a female doctor walked in.
"Hi, Erica, I'm doctor Tori Morgan and I'll be doing your examination today, is that OK?" Tori questioned.
"Sure" Ricky nodded.
"Before we start, I must tell you that you have the right to stop the examination if you want" Tori explained.
"OK,"
"I'll get you a gown to change in to and then we can start. " Tori said, leaving the room.
Tori returned with a gown and then helped Ricky in to it.
"Have you got the clothes you were wearing?" Tori asked.
Ricky nodded, Bianca had bagged her dress up for her, although she couldn't imagine she'd ever wear it again. Tori placed the dress in to an evidence bag.
Ricky held her wrists out as Tori took images of her fading bruises. Tori then took swabs from her mouth and scrapings from underneath her nails.
Tori then helped Ricky to lie down on the bed and placed paper underneath her bottom and took swabs from her private area.
Colby drives both women back to the Bay.
"Thanks Colby. " Bianca says.
"How was it?" Kyle asks, as Bianca unlocked the door.
Ricky sits on the couch, reaching her arms out for Case, Kyle hands him over.
"Uncomfortable. " Ricky answered. "How was he?"
"He was good." Kyle answers.
Ricky said nothing, just pressed a kiss to Casey's head.
