Chapter Seventeen: Plots Against the Throne... Boring!

Anakin stretched causally as he watched Ahsoka out of the corner of his eye. Obi-Wan suggested that they get some more training in before their next mission comes in. Kai and Zane had quickly volunteered to spar with them. Anakin wasn't too sure about that, but it might be interesting to see their powers up close personal.

"Are we ready?" Kai asked from where he was somehow dangling halfway up the wall. Zane hummed to himself as he reached a hand up to gently stroke Falcon.

"I believe so brother."

Anakin wondered at how calm Zane was about everything. Then again, he was a robot for crying out loud, he probably was programmed to be so emotionless. Though that doesn't explain the few times he had actually expressed emotions... Shaking his head, Anakin gestured for Ahsoka to come over. "Right. Ahsoka, how about you spar with Kai while I spar with Zane?"

"Okay." Ahsoka glanced over at Kai, who quickly flipped off of the wall.

Zane glanced questionably over at Kai, who merely shrugged, before getting into position across from Ahsoka. "Blaues Huhn schläft auf Sonne." Kai grinned, looking rather proud of himself.

Obi-Wan shifted slightly from where he was watching the training session, his brow furrowing in confusion. "What was that? I didn't recognize any of those words."

"Blue chicken sleeps on sun?" Zane stared at Kai, amusement starting to edge into his voice. "Kai, you know that you do not know how to speak Serpentinese... so what was that about?"

Kai promptly turned bright red in the face, "Scales told me that translated to ready to rumble!"

"Clearly Scales was pulling your leg." Anakin snickered, unaware of the surprised looks Kai and Zane were giving him.

Zane shifted slightly, before speaking slowly. "You mean King Scales of the Serpentine. Only family and friends get away with calling him Scales without the title."

Anakin slipped at that revelation, while Obi-Wan widened his eyes in shock. "Your friends with the leader of the Serpentine?"

"Well, we sort of helped him lead a rebellion and overthrow his predecessor so yeah. Kind of friends with him." Kai shrugged like it was no big deal.

The three Jedi in the room wondered exactly what would be a big deal to these two. Since leading a rebellion apparently wasn't... "Okay! Let's get training!"

Yoda tapped his staff, uncertainty flashing through him. When he received the message from Duchess Satine, he had agreed to help only because he sensed that her troubles truly where far from over... and now the Force was telling him to send their mystery guests along with young Ahsoka. Shaking his head, he walked over to the meditation room that they were currently in, hoping against hope that this wasn't a disaster waiting to happen... that wasn't something that Mandalore or the Jedi for that matter, needed at the moment.

Pushing the door open with the Force, he paused as he stared at a scene that made no sense when one knew about how turbulent Kai's emotions were. Kai and Zane were in a deep mediation, far deeper than even Yoda could get into, while Anakin was squirming on a nearby mat. Ahsoka opened one eye to look over at Yoda, but other than that she didn't break her meditation. Obi-Wan was attempting to get as deep as the others, and failing if the frustrated huff as he finally opened his eyes, turning to face Yoda, was any indication.

"Evening Master Yoda." Obi-Wan forced a smile towards the elderly Jedi, his frustration that he couldn't get nearly as deep of a meditation as their guests tainting the air around him.

"Fellow Jedi, evening." Yoda bit back a laugh as Kai suddenly snapped out of his meditative state to stare at him with one eyebrow arched upwards. "Mission for Ahsoka, Kai, and Zane, I have."

"Of course."

"Mission?" Kai and Zane spoke in unison as they both perked up the same way small children would when told that they could get ice cream if they eat their vegetables.

The Jedi turned to look at them, wondering if they should be concerned for their sanity... or lack of it. Yoda cleared his throat loudly, before explaining about everything that was going on on Mandalore. "... in conclusion, Duchess Satine has requested that we send a Jedi to teach their young how to identify treason and properly warn the proper authorities." Pausing, he glanced over at Ahsoka. "That is what you are going to be doing young Ahsoka. You will be teaching the class this. Kai and Zane will be going along to learn more about the different cultures we have in this galaxy." (A/N: Pretend that it is in Yoda speak...)

"Cool." "Tián de. Wǒmen shénme shíhòu zǒu? (Sweet. When do we leave?)"

Obi-Wan drew his brows together as he tried to figure out what it was that Kai had just said. Zane answered that question for him. "Kai... stop showing off. You do not need to respond in Skullkinese."

Thuds rippled through the room as they all slapped their foreheads. "Go. You need to get packed before you leave."

"Another mission for you two, I have also." Yoda decided not to question whatever that was just now.

"Yes Master."

Kai shifted through the clothes the Jedi gave him, carefully placing all of it in the duffel bag that Padme had provided for the trip. "Zane. You are bringing Falcon with you... right?"

"I never leave home without him." Zane responded from where he was packing up the few things he had to show for his stay there.

Kai sighed with relief, the knots in his stomach relaxing slightly. The two of them had dealt with more than their fair share of treacherous plans against local governments, with Kai being forced to spy on the ninjas during the one plan, and dealing with another one made them both very nervous. They just knew something was going to go wrong...

After all, they were ninjas, nothing was ever as simple as it seems with them.
