Author's Note

Hey guys sorry I haven't updated this story in a while. I was debating on whether to delete it or not since it has only had 30 views total before this chapter update but I've decided to keep at it regardless of how many views it gets.

Here is a reminder of the rules of my nuzlocke run

- Can only capture the first encounter of a pokemon that hasn't be captured yet

- If it faints it is dead

- If the entire team is the challenge is over

- All captures must be nicknamed

Last chapter we saw Chase had captured his two Pokemon and had his first battle and was heading to Flocessy Ranch to find Cameron

'I called out to Cameron "Yo Cameron". Cameron turned around and shouted back "Hey Chase. What brings you out here?" I pulled out one of the town maps his sister gave me and handed it to him while answering "This, your sister gave me this map for you". Cameron took it and responded "Thanks, I guess I rushed off before she had a chance to give it too me". We both shared a laugh then Cameron looked at my team and said "Chase you and I should have a battle. Your team could use some toughening up". I nodded and responded "You could be right". Cameron's Tepig came out from behind his leg and said "If we're battling I want that wimpy looking Snivy". Zelen almost jumped off from his spot around my neck at the taunt but I put a restraining finger on him and said softly "Don't its just bating you into a fight". Zelen realising I was right settled back onto his place around my neck. "Looks like Pyrosha here is raring for a fight." Cameron said with a chuckle. I could tell from that statement that Cameron couldn't understand what his Pokémon was saying but his bond let him get a good idea of what they wanted. "Well standing here talking won't finish this battle. Bronzor you're up." I told Cameron with a smile while Bronzor floated happily into battle. Pyrosha got into a battle ready stance and Cameron said "Alright Pyrosha lets go. Here I come Chase". I held up a hand to forestall the battle and asked "Hold up a minute Cam, I want to try a function on my Pokédex. That ok?" Cameron looked at me confused and asked "Is it really that important?" I nodded and responded "Yeah but it will only take a sec". Cameron nodded and gave me the go ahead so I pulled out my Pokédex and selected the Battle Info option. The screen then said to point the camera at the Pokémon fighting so I did so and the Pokédex took a quick snap. Then on the screen it showed a video game like setting showing the health and gender of the two Pokémon.I noticed that Cameron's Tepig was female. Cameron who had been watching me asked curiously "What did you doing with your Pokédex Chase?" I waved the question off and answered "I'll tell you after I win". Cameron smirked then responded "Bring it Chase. Pyrosha use Tackle'. "Dodge it Bronzor then counter with Hypnosis". Bronzor floated up higher then as Pyrosha leapt at it too attack then fired a sleeping wave from its eyes hitting Pyrosha. Pyrosha shook off the Hypnosis wave resisting the urge to fall asleep while Cameron called out his next command "Pyrosha use Tail Whip then tackle". Pyrosha complied with her trainer's orders while I ordered back "Dodge then counter with Confusion". Bronzor once again floated up out of reach of the Tackle then its eyes started to glow and it lifted Pyrosha up in the air slamming her into the ground. "That all you got. It's gonna take more than a puny attack to take me down". She jeered at me. I took a quick glance at my Pokédex and noticed that the health reader for Pyrosha had gone down. I brielfy wondered how that work then returned my focus to the battle and yelled "Bronzor use confusion one more time". Bronzor's eyes glowed as it prepared it's attack while Cameron "Pyrosha quick use Tackle". Pyrosha complied leaping at Bronzor with the attack connecting. "Yes!." Cameron cried out happily but his joy was short lived because as soon as Pyrosha's attack connected that's when Bronzor unleashed its attack slamming Pyrosha into the ground. Pyrosha groggily got back to her feet then collapsed in exhaustion. I took a quick glance at my Pokédex and saw Pyrosha's health bar was empty. Cameron walked over to her, picked her up and told her "Pyrosha you did a wonderful job I'm proud of you". He then turn to me and said "Good job Chase. You've trained your Bronzor well". "Thanks Cam, you fought well too." I told him. He shook his head then responded "No, I could have done better". I chuckled then responded back"You've always been hard on yourself. You gotta learn to accept a compliment". Before Cameron could we both heard voices coming towards us.

"Over here honey, this is where the sounds of battle came from." A man's voice called out. A short time later a man and a woman with a Herdier showed up. "Aw shoot we missed the battle." The woman complained. The man walked up to Cameron with some Potions and said "Here son let me heal up your Tepig for you". "Oh thanks very much." Cameron answered gratefully and the man healed up Pyrosha with his turned to me and asked "What about you son, do your Pokémon need any healing?" I shook my head in the negative and responded "No thank you, my Pokémon are perfectly fine". The woman then told us "Sorry for the late introductions but my name's Trisha and this is my husband Charles. We own this here ranch". "My name's Chase and this Cameron." I responded introducing Cameron and myself. "I don't suppose that ya'll good folks have seen a Herdier around here have ya?" Trisha asked. I shook my head and responded "No I haven't. Sorry". "Ah well he'll turn up. 'Es always wandering off." Trisha said with a shrug. "Why are you acting so nonchalantly about this. Your Pokemon could have been stolen or kidnapped or have to find it" Cameron burst out heatedly. He then turned to me and said "Chase come on we have to find their Pokémon". He then ran off without even waiting for my reply. I let out a sigh of exasperation and turned to Charles and Trisha and said apologetically "Sorry about that. He gets passionate at times." I then ran off after Cameron. Once we were out of sight I turned to my Pokémon and asked "Guys could you spread out and look please?". Shimone, Lisbeth and Bronzor all headed off in different directions while Zelen stayed around my neck and asked "Is this really necessary? The Herdier has probably wandered off like she said". I sighed again then answered "She's probably right but Cam is impossible to reason with when he's in this kinda mood. Ever. Since we were kids I've found when when he's in this kinda mood it's best to just humour him than reason with him". Zelen took that information in then asked "But why does he seem to fear losing Pokémon so much". "Because.." I started to answer but before I could finish Lisbeth landed on my head. "I found the Herdier and you may want to hurry as I think your friend may be right." Lisbeth told me. I let out a loud whistle to call back Shimone and Bronzor. They came back quickly and I told them "Lizbeth found Herdier let's go". I then ran off with Lizbeth guiding me while Shimone and Bronzor followed closely behind. A couple of minutes later we arrived where the Herdier was and were shocked by what we saw. There was a man in a skintight grey suit, black gloves, boots and a black hat and vest with a symbol in the shape of a shield with a black and white background with a blue P on them. He was attempting to drag the Herdier off. "Oi what are you doing?" I yelled as my Pokémon surrounded him. The Herdier saw me and my Pokémon and started barking. "Chase did you find the Herdier?" Cameron yelled to me."Yeah man. Go get its owner." I yelled back. I then turned my attention back to the man in the grey suit. I saw that my Pokémon had him surrounded and Zelen actually had ahold of him with Vine Whip. "So… who are you?" I asked curiously. The guy looked at me with an incredulous look. "Are you saying you've never heard of Team Plasma?" He asked me in disbelief. I shrugged and gave a gesture in the negative. "We almost took over Unova two years ago". I just gave another shrug in response. He open his mouth to say something when I heard a voice called out "Chase you over here?"I've got Charles and Trisha with me". "Yeah." I called back. "Arrgh I don't have time for this." The Plasma guy said. He then threw a CD like object at Zelen who let him go to dodge the object and he ran off.

A minute or two later Cameron, Charles and Trisha showed up and Herdier let out a bark of joy upon seeing its owners. "Herdier you're alright". Trisha exclaimed happily. Charles turned to me and told me "Thank you kindly son for finding our Herdier. Was there anyone trying to kidnap him?" I shook my head and lied "No sir. He must of just wandered off". Charles then turned to Cameron and said "See son, there was no need to worry. Herdier was just fine". "You still need to look after your Pokémon. Next time you may not be so lucky" Cameron responded heatedly then stormed off. "I ran my hand through my hair and let out a sigh as Trisha turned to me and said "Your friend seems mighty afraid of losing Pokémon. I wonder why that is. Anyways Chase you're welcome to train your Pokémon here as there is abundance of Pokémon here". I nodded my thanks and Trisha, Charles and their Herdier walked off. As soon as they were gone I went and picked up the object that the wannabe Pokémon thief had thrown and saw that it was TM21 though I couldn't remember what move it was. "Alright guys lets head back to Floccesy Town." I told my team. The nodded and we made our way to back to Route 20. Not long after we were on Route 20 Shimone climbed up onto my shoulder and asked "Chase why did you lie to the ranch owners?" "Because I doubt that sorta thing will happen again and it wasn't worth causing them to worry unnecessarily." I answered. Shimone nodded then thought for a moment and asked another question "Why did your friend act the way he did when the ranch owners' Herdier was missing?" I let out another sigh while I gathered my thoughts trying to decide whether or not I should answer her question. A few minutes of internal deliberation I finally answered "A few years ago Cameron caught a Purlion for his little sister as a present for her birthday. However a few days before her birthday the Purlion was stolen. Ever since then he gets really… heated when it seems like a Pokémon might be missing." I explained to them. Shimone happy her questions had been answered hopped off my shoulder. We then continued the rest of the walk back to Floccesy Town In an hour later we made it to the Floccesy Town. When we arrived Alder was waiting for us and when he saw us he waved a greeting. When we got close Alder spoke "Hello young Chase. Did you give the town map to your friend?" I nodded and answered "Yeah I did". Alder then looked my Pokémon and I over and said "You seemed to have grown since I saw you". "I raised an eyebrow questioningly. "Your spirit seems to have grown and the there appears to be a fire lit in your seems like something happened at Floccesy Ranch." Alder told me with a laugh. I nodded and responded "Yeah something did happen". "Well with the fire that has been lit under you, you should go back to Aspertia City and take on the newly opened Gym." Alder suggested to me. "Taking on the Gyms could be fun and it would give me something to on my journey other than travelling." I murmured quietly to myself. "Taking on the Pokemon League is an excellent reason for a journey. It really helped me grow and learn more about myself when I took on the League myself many years ago." Alder told me with a smile. I smiled back and responded "Then I'm definitely going to take on the League Challenge". I then started walking back to Aspertia City while Alder shouted back to me "Good luck young Chase".
