Last chapter we saw Chase stop a Pokenapping in Flocessy Ranch and is get persuaded by Alder to take on the Pokemon Leauge.

The trip back to Aspertia City took my Pokémon about an hour and when we arrived I headed home to see my mum. I walked in the front door and called out "Hey Mum I'm home". My mother walked out of the kitchen and smiled when she saw me. "Hello Chase, I didn't expect to see you home so soon. Have you decided to to give up on your journey?" Mum said to me, asking the last part with a hint of hope. I shook my head and responded "No. I came to ask if you knew where in the Gym was". Mum let out a sigh then told me "I was hoping you wouldn't want to League Challenge. That is the path that seems to have the worst effect on trainers and the one path I was hoping you wouldn't take". I smiled then responded "Mum I know that you're just trying to look out for me but we both know I was always going to go on a journey and become a trainer". Mum sighed again then said "I know I know but that doesn't mean I'm going to be completely happy about it". I nodded then responded "I'm aware Mum but you can't protect from everything". "I know sweetheart but I'm your mother and it's part of a mother's job to worry about her child." She told me in a resigned tone. "So the Gym location?" I prompted. "It's where the old school was located." Mum told me. I smiled, gave her a hug and told her "Thanks mum". I headed out the door but before I left I turned around and said "Why don't you come and watch my gym battle. It might help you let go of some of your worries". My mother nodded and followed along after locking up the house. About 10 minutes later we arrived at the new opened Aspertia City Gym.

I looked at the sign out the front and read it aloud "Aspertia City Trainer School". I then cast a glance at my mother wondering if she took me to the wrong place then I a heard a familiar voice call out to me "Heeeyyyyy Chase". My mother and I turned around and saw a familiar face coming up too us. "Oh Bianca . What are you doing here?" I asked curiously. "Professor Juniper told me to come to the Aspertia Gym." She responded. I raised an eyebrow in skepticism and "So this trainer school is the Aspertia Gym then?" Bianca nodded then answered "Yeah, well actually the Gym is located behind the school at the back". I nodded in understanding then headed inside. While we walked Bianca turned to my mother and asked in a very serious tone "Are you Chase's sister?" Mum let out a laugh then answered "No dear, Im his mother, though I am flattered you think I look so young". I just rolled my eyes while Zelen whispered in my ear "Such a ditz".I resisted the urge to laugh then quietedly scolded him "Be nice". A few minutes later we made it to the back of the school and I saw a sign that said Aspertia Gym this way. We walked through the door and entered onto a battle field on which three people standing upon it. Two of them, a boy and a girl, were facing us and looked to be between the ages of 10 and 12 and each had a Patrat and a Lillipup. "Those two are most likely the Gym Trainers. We may have to fight them before we can take on the Gym Leader." Zelen muttered to me. I nodded and then faced my attention on the third individual. He had his back to us but I could see he was a young man around my age or slightly older. He had black hair with a a single lock slicked up and he was wearing a white collared shirt and a pair of blue jeans. He turned around to face us and said "Welcome challenger to the Aspertia City Gym. My name is Cheren and I am the Gym Leader here. If you wish to challenge me you must first defeat these two trainers behind me first".Just then Bianca ran to Cheren and enveloped him in a hug while yelling happily "Cheren it's so good to see you again". Cheren disentangled himself from Bianca and exclaimed in surprise "Bianca what are you doing here?" Bianca smiled then answered "I'm out here delivering a Pokédex and a starter to your first challenger for the Professor". Cheren nodded in understanding then asked in a slightly confused tone "I get that but how did you know I'd be at be here at the Aspertia Gym?" Bianca gave an embarrassed look then answered in an embarrassed tone "Truth is I didn't," she then pointed and continued, "After I helped Chase here catch his first Pokémon I got a call from Professor Juniper and she told me I should go to the Aspertia Gym and I'd get a pleasant surprise". Cheren nodded in understanding then responded "Now I understand. Thanks. And it's good to see you again Bianca". He then turned to me and said "Again welcome challenger. I am Cheren the newly appointed Gym Leader of Aspertia City. If you wish to face me in battle you must be defeat the two trainers behind me". I looked to the two trainers behind Cheren a puzzled look on my face and said slightly confused "I think I already have". "What are you talking about?" Cheren asked in the same confused tone. "Turn around." I told him. Cheren turned around and what he saw shocked and puzzled him. For in front of us the two Gym Trainers' Pokémon were laying on the ground with spirals in their eyes indicating that they had fainted. I scratched my head in confusion and asked "What happened?" "Your Pokémon fought and defeated their Pokémon dear." My mother answered. "Ohhhh." Cheren and I said at the same time. I then looked over my Pokemon to access their condition. All of them looked to be perfectly fine and in addition to that they all looked to be stronger especially Shimone and Lizbeth. I decided I'd deal with them about this later so I turned to Cheren and said "Alright Cheren since your Gym Trainers are down and out it's time for your Pokémon to meet the same fate." Cheren smirked then responded "Bring it on Chase, I'll make you cry". We both went to opposite ends of the battle field while everyone else went to the side lines. Cheren and I got ready to send out our first Pokemon while the boy called out "It's the leader Cheren vs the challenger Chase. Are you both ready?," Cheren and I both nodded so he continued, "alright then choose your first Pokémon".

Cheren placed a hand on one of the Pokéballs at his waist and tossed it. Out of the ball came a Patrat. I looked at my team deciding who would be the best choice for this battle. Both Shimone and Lisbeth were out as despite having gotten stronger when they fought the Gym Trainers I could tell they wouldn't be strong enough. I then glanced at Zelen, he looked like he might be able to take the Patrat but I didn't want to risk it, so that left that only one choice. "Bronzor you're up." I called out. Bronzor floated happily onto to the field. I quickly thought about Bronzor's moves then called out "Bronzor use Confuse Ray". "Quick Patrat, dodge it then counter with Bite." Countered Cheren. Bronzor's eyes turned purple and shot purple beams from it's eyes at Patrat. Patrat tried to dodge it but was a fraction too slow and got hit. Cheren growled in frustration then yelled "Come on Patrat shake off the confusion and use Bite". Patrat looked ready to leap and bite Bronzor but then ended up punching itself in the face. I smiled then called out "Bronzor use Confusion". Bronzor's eyes glowed and lifted Patrat in the air and slammed it into the ground. Patrat quickly got up and shook off its confused state and got into a battle ready stance. "Ok Patrat let's try that Bite one more time." Cheren called out. Patrat leapt at Bronzor and chomped on it. Bronzor didn't react much upon feeling Patrat biting it but I could tell it did a bit of damage. "Bronzor use Confusion before it has a chance for to recover." I commanded. Bronzor's eyes glowed again and sent Patrat flying. "Quick Bronzor Confuse Ray before it has a chance to recover". Bronzor's eyes turned purple again and shot beams at Patrat again hitting it with the attack. Patrat got up and started wobbling from being put in a confused state. "Cheren growled in frustration again then commanded "Patrat use Bite again. You can shake off the confused state". Patrat shook its head trying to shake off its confused state then ran at Bronzor ready to bite it. Patrat got ready to leap at and bite Bronzor but instead of doing that Patrat bit itself then collapsed. Cheren realising his Patrat couldn't battle recalled it into its Pokéball and murmured to it "Good job my friend". He then looked at me and said "Good job Chase. Let's see how you fair against my Lillipup," he then threw his second Pokéball and out of it came a Lillipup. I quickly considered switching but I knew Bronzor was my best bet of winning this. "Alright Lillipup use Work Up." Cheren commanded. Lillipup glowed red for a moment but I had no idea what Work Up just done for Lillipup. "Bronzor use Confusion quick". Bronzor's eyes once again as it lifted Lillipup and slammed it into the ground. "Lillipup use Bite." Cheren commanded as Lillipup got up. Lillipup then ran and leapt at Bronzor biting it. I saw that Lillipup did more damage to Bronzor than Patrat did. "That could mean Lillipup is stronger than Patrat or Work Up raised its attacking power or a combination of the two," I muttered aloud then focused on the battle and yelled "Bronzor use Confusion once more". Bronzor's eyes glowed and slammed Lillipup into the ground. "Lillipup use Work up." Cheren commanded. Lillipup then glowed red again. "Use Work Up one more time." Cheren command and Lillipup glowed red again. "Now use bite." Cheren called out. Lillipup then leapt at Bronzor preparing to bite Bronzor. "Quick Bronzor dodge it." I called out in fear knowing if that attack hit I could lose Bronzor. Bronzor floated up higher with Lillipup narrowly missing it while I let out a sigh of relief. "Bronzor use Confusion one more time to end this battle. " I called out. Bronzor's eyed glowed and flung Lillipup into the air before slamming it into the ground. Lillipup rose to its feet unsteadily before collapsing to the ground in utter exhaustion.

Cheren recalled Lillipup and said to its Pokéball "Well done Lillipup that was a wonderful battle. Bronzor floated over to me and I patted the top of it while saying "That was amazing Bronzor. I'm so proud of you". My other Pokémon chorused their agreement while Bronzor made happy noises. Cheren, Bianca and Mum walked over to me. Mum gave me a hug and said with a smile on her face "Well done Chase. I'm so proud of you."That was an amazing battle Chase. You seem to have a real instinct for battling." Bianca told me. "Bianca's right, you have a real knack for battle. In fact the way you battle reminds me of an old friend espically with that Snivy around your neck." Cheren told me. He then held out his hands which held three different sized objects in his hand. "This," Cheren said handing me the smallest object which rectangular in shape and the largest object which was a case of some sorts then continued, "is the Basic Badge. It is proof that you have defeated me. And here's a badge case to put it and the other 7 Unovan badges it ". Cheren then handed the second object which was shaped like a CD and said "And this is TM83 Work Up. Work Up is a move that raises a Pokémmion's physical and special attacking power". I nodded and said "Thanks." I then left the Gym, headed home and collapsed on my bed completely exhausted after the Gym battle falling asleep immediately. The next day I got ready to leave when Mum came up to me with a shopping bag. "Here sweetie, take these." She told me handing me the bag. I took it and placed it in my backpack while asking "What are these?" She smiled then answered "It's just some potions, Parlyz Heals, Antidotes and Awakenings. I got them for you when I took your Pokémon to the Pokémon Centre after I found you collapsed on your bed." Mum told me. "Ah. Thanks for doing that Mum." I told her. "Any time dear." Mum responded. I then gave her a hug and told her "Alright Mum I'm heading off. I'll try and call you when I can". Mum hugged me back then responded "Be careful dear. Both in your journey and your battles". I nodded then headed off letting my Pokémon out of their balls. I then made my way to the edge of town. Just as I was about to leave town I heard a voice yell out "Heeeeeeyyyyy Chase. Wait up will ya". "Sounds like the ditz is calling out to you." Zelen said. I refrained from laughing at his comment and turned around. I saw both Bianca and Cheren walking towards me so I waved to acknowledge them. "Hey what are you doing here?" I asked them curiously. "We came to see you off." Bianca told me. "We also came to give you our Xtransciever numbers. We wanted to give them to you yesterday but you left the gym before we could give them to you." Cheren told me with a smile. I nodded then we exchanged numbers. Once we had done that I asked curiously "Why did you want to exchange numbers with me?". Bianca smiled then answered "Because we both know what it's like to be new trainers going out into the world". "And we figured you could use some guidance down the road." Cheren told me. "If you want to know what Pokémon are in an area call me. If you want to know to know about type match ups or what type of Pokémon a Gym Leader uses you can give Cheren a call. Or just call us if you want to talk." Bianca in a bubbly tone while handing me some berries. I looked at her asked curiously "What are these and why do I need 'em?". "They're Pecha Berries and their for curing poison. You'll need them for the Gym in Virbank City." Cheren told me. I nodded then responded "Alright thanks". I then headed off waving goodbye as walked down Route 19 and headed to Virbank City.

The battle itself was fairly easy thanks to Bronzor. Next chapter we will see Chase arrive in Virbank City. I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter and always please review.
