Author's Notes

I meant to metion this last chapter but I forgot. As of the 27/9/19 I have finished the in game run. So feel free to make your own guess on who survives, who doesn't and whether or not I actually completed it or if I wiped out horribly.

Anyways last chapter we saw Chase gain a new travelling companion in the form of Roxie and the two of them left Castelia City together.

Roxie and I stepped through the Route Gate and onto Route 4. "So what does this strange scientist look like?" Roxie asked me.

"You'll know who it is when we see him?" I answered.

"That's not very helpful Chase," she said in a slightly annoyed tone. I ignored her tone scanning down the route for the strange scientist. As we walked down the route we encountered some rocks blocking the path. I let out a sigh of annoyance as I ran my hands through my hair. "Something the matter Chase?" Roxie asked me.

I nodded and answered "Yeah," I then pointed at the strange rocks and continued "these things were here two days ago blocking the route. I wanted go train somewhere that wasn't the sewers but couldn't cause of these things".

"Hello there young Chase," I heard a voice call out. I turned around and saw the strange scientist behind me. I noticed he was holding a strange decive.

Roxie leaned into me and whispered "I see what you mean about him being strange. That is a crazy hairstyle".

"His hair is the least strange part about him," I whispered back.

"You are just in time for me to perform my experiment," the scientist said. He then pointed the strange device in his hand at the strange rocks on that were blocking the road. A beam of light was shot at the strange rocks and hit them. At first nothing happened and after about 30 seconds or so the rocks start growing legs and claws.

"HOLY CRAP!" Roxie and I shouted in surprise. We realised the rocks weren't rocks but Pokémon.

"Hmm, so the device energised them," the scientist mused. "But were Crustle stop there? Did they run out of energy from those heavy rocks on their backs or did they just choose to stop there?" he continued muttering.

"See, strange guy," I whispered quietly to Roxie who just nodded in response.

Once he had finished talking to himself about what had happened the scientist turned to me and asked "So Chase are you prepared to have a battle with me?"

"I am but first may get your name, you walked off before giving it to me," I told

"Oh I guess I didn't. I apologise for that. My name is Colress".

"A pleasure to meet you Colress".

"Shall we have that battle now Chase?"

"I have one more question before we battle".

"Very well what is it?"

"What is it?"

"What is the this theory you wish to test?"

Colress remained silent for a moment before answering ""Team Plasma said we should recognize the potential in Pokémon and liberate them from humans. I disagree with that statement and thus that is where my theory comes from. I believe it is humans who bring out the potential of Pokémon," he then looked at me a strange light in his eyes and continue "Now Chase battle me and help me test my theory". He then threw out two Pokéballs and out of them came a Klink and a Magnemite. I threw out Lillian and Khaeg. "Klink gear grind on that Buneary and Magnemite parylze them," Colress commanded.

"Lillian dodge it and then attack them with Rock Smash, Khaeg Sonic Boom Barrage," I commanded. Lillian prepared to dodge but before she could the Klink split in half and went flying at her but before Klink could join together on Lillian Khaeg pushed her out of the way and took the brunt of the attack. As soon as the Klink attack landed on Khaeg Colress' Magnemite fired sparks at Lillian and Khaeg. Lillian leapt into the air, dodging the Thunderwave while Khaeg managed to break free and cause the attack to hit KIink. Lillian while in mid air made her arm glow and then came flying down onto the Magnemite hitting and crashing it to the ground and dazing it. Khaeg took advantage of the fact the Klink was paralysed and the Magnemite was dazed to fire a barrage of Sonic Booms at them and succeeded in knocking them out. Colress clicked his tongue in annoyance as he recalled his Pokémon.

"That was a splendid battle Chase. You really did well to bring out the power of your Pokémon, " Colress told me.

I smiled at his praise and responded "Thanks Colress, you didn't do too badly yourself".

He shook his head in response and said "No my performance abysmal. Anyways Chase thank you for the battle. It has been of great help to my research. I hope to see you again one day," he then turned and walked off. As he walked off Roxie and I heard him mutter "It's a pity that there isn't anyway who can understand Pokémon but something like that is impossible". Roxie and I gave each other a glance but said nothing as he walked off.

"Well that guy was weird," Roxie said as we walked down Route 4.

"Yeah, when he approached me and asked for a battle a few nights a guy I think it was only cause my Pokémon popped out of their Pokéballs after I said I was gonna continue with the league despite losing Shimone," I told her. I then proceed to tell her about the encounter I'd h ad with Colress.

"That… is really weird".

I just nodded in response. We then kept walking til dark. Once it the sun started to get lower in the sky I turned to Roxie and said "We should probably make camp". Roxie nodded in agreement. We looked around and spotted a cave so we went into and made camp. Once we had had our meal and were settled into comfortable positions around the campfire we had going. I noticed Roxie had pulled a notepad out and was writing something down so I decided to pull out the journal I'd purchased in Castelia and started writing it. Roxie and I wrote in comfortable silence for about an hour before Roxie looked up and asked "Hey Chase mind if I ask you a question?"

With looking up I answered with a slight grin "You just did but I'll allow you to ask another".

"Ha ha very funny," She told me in mock irritation.

I looked up from my writing, grinned at her and asked "But seriously what do you wanna ask me?"

"Why'd you wanna take on the League?"

"This old guy Alder. I met him the day I started my journey and he suggested I take it the League Challenge. He said it helped him grow and understand himself when he did it and that reasoning appeared to me".

"Well the League Challenge can do that for a person but that is a pretty flimsy reason for taking on the League".

"Yeah I know but it's the only one I've got," I then added with a slight sigh" Though my mum wishes I wasn't taking on the League and was just having a journey around the region."

"Why is that?" Roxie asked curiously.

"She's a former PokéCentre nurse and she's seen many a trainer who's taken on the league and what has happened when to them when she they couldn't get to a Centre in time". Roxie nodded in understanding but didn't saying anything. I then decided to turn the conversation on her and asked "What about you why did you have a journey?"

She thought for a moment and then responded "I wanted to travel so I could find new inspiration for my music".

"Did you?"

"Yeah lot's. I also developed quite the reputation as a battler which caught the eye of the League" she said proudly.

"Is that how you became a Gym Leader?"

She shook her head and then answered. "Sorta. I've only been a Gym Leader for about a year. There used to be a Gym in Striaton City that was run by triplets. They chose to give up their positions as Gym Leaders and they picked me to be their replacement".

"That's pretty cool, but how did they know about you?"

"Their gym was a café and they would get me in to play gigs there from time to time".

"Ah ok,". I then let out a rather loud yawn then said "Guess it's time to go to sleep".

Roxie pulled out her Xtransceiver and saw the time and nodded in agreement and responded, "Yeah it is starting to get a little late". We then put out the fire, crawled into our sleeping bags, bade each other goodnight and fell asleep.

A/N

As you may have guessed I tweaked the battle with Colress a little. It was a little different in game and slightly longer but I don't want to keep writing one on one battles everytime. I get a little bored writing one on one to be honest.

And that bit about the Striaton leaders retiring is from the Memory Link function. The Memory Link is a feature in Black & White 2 that helps explains certain events. Though it is only accessible if you have Black or White.
