Author's Note
Last chapter we saw Chase and Roxie stuck inside a cave waiting out a sandstorm talking and they were joined by a Darumaka named Thurston and a Sandile named Carlotta.
I stood at the entrance to Relic Castle grinning and said "Relic Castle I'm finally here".
"This place isn't that impressive Chase, it's just full of dusty old human stuff" Carolotta said unimpressed.
"To you maybe but to me it might having really interesting," I told her. We then entered the ruins. We looked around and I saw nothing overally interesting, just sand. I then saw some stairs and headed over to them. Roxie saw me going to the stairs and followed me. When got to the bottom of the stares we saw that this room had strange carvings on the walls. Roxie walked over to some of them and peered at them. "What are these?" Roxie asked curiously as she traced her fingers over them.
I peered at the carving, noticed how they were positioned and responded in an unsure tone "They… could be letters".
"Letters? What makes you say that?"
I pointed at them and then said "Look at how their arranged," I looked around the room at the other carvings on the wall and continued "and see how the carvings are repeated around the room". Roxie looked around and noticed I was right but didn't respond. As I looked around I felt a memory tugging at my brain. I let my mind flow to it. It was of my dad, he was sitting on my bed reading me a story. I couldn't remember what the story was though. As the memory faded away I let out a sigh sadly over remembering my dad. Roxie heard my sigh and looked walked over to me.
"Everything alright Chase?" She asked a hint of concern.
I nodded and responded "Yeah, just… an old memory".
"So it's not about…?" she asked her voice trailing off.
I shook my head and smiled before answering "No it's not to do with Shimone".
She let out a sigh of a relief and responded "That's good to hear". I was about to respond when we hear a strange noise underneath us and we felt the floor give way underneath our feet and we fell through it. Roxie and I let out a few curses as we hit the ground.
"OWWW SONNAVABITCH!" I yelled in pain as I got up from the ground.
"Owww. Why the hell did we fall through the floor?" Roxie asked in an anger and painas she got up from the floor.
"No idea maybe it was a bad spot," I told her as I looked around for Carlotta. I looked up and saw she was standing at the edge of the hole so I sent out Zerry to go get her. As Zerry brought Carlotta down I walked further into the room with Roxie close behind. I saw that at the end of the room there was something painted on a wall. "Damn it's to dark to see exactly what they are," I then turned to Roxie and asked "Do you have a flashlight on you?
She shook her head and answered "No sorry, I don't". I just nodded then placed my hand on Thurston's Pokéball and sent him out.
"Whatcha need Boss?" Thurston asked once he was out.
"Boss?" I asked in confusion.
"You're my trainer now, gotta call you something," he told me.
I decided not to continue that line of questioning and asked "Can you generate enough flames to shine light on this wall?"
Thurston looked at the wall, shook his head and responded, "No, sorry Boss".
"It's fine Thurston," I told him with a smile.
"If you wish to see the wall I can show you," a strange voice say and then a very bright light appeared illuminating the room. Roxie and I turned around too see what had illuminated the room.
"That's… a Volcorana," Roxie said in awe and surprise. I took a hard look at the Volcorana. I noticed that it showed signs of old age which was rare in a Pokémon and meant that this one had been alive for a long time. As soon as the room was illuminated the Roxie and I then turned the wall and saw that it had four different scenes on it. The first depicted a strange grey dragon with lines dark red and electric blue across its body flying towards a castle. The second picture showed the same dragon above two people who were standing side by side and the castle. The first person was a man wearing white armour while the other was a man wearing black scholar robes. The third scene showed the same two people but they were face away from each other and there were three dragons. Next to the man in white was a black dragon with a blue eye while the man in black had a white dragon with a red eye next to him. Above them was the grey dragon. It looked slight different compared to the last two scenes and it was missing the red and blue from it. The final scene showed the castle in ruins, the grey dragon flying away and the two men holding stones which their respective stone being the same colour as the dragon that was with them in the previous scene.
"What is this? I feel like I should know what this is showing." Roxie said.
"Yeah I know you mean,," I responded
"It about the Twin Heroes," a voice behind us said. We turned around in surprise and saw a heavyset black woman with blue hair standing behind us.
"What makes you say that?" I asked curiously.
"These murals mirror core details of the story of The Twin Heroes," the woman.
"Like what, I don't remember the story." Roxie told the woman.
"I do," I answered with a slight sigh as the memory I had earlier popped back into my head. "Ages ago there were two brother who ruled over a kingdom and were aided by a dragon. Eventually the two brothers came into conflict and started a war fighting over their beliefs. They each beseeched the dragon to help them in the war but the dragon couldn't help just one of them so it split itself into two dragons, one black and one white, to help each brother. The two brothers fought each other with their dragons with neither brother giving in. The two brothers fought to exhaustion, with their dragons turning into stone spheres due to exhaustion. Once their dragon had turned to stones the two brothers looked around their kingdom and saw it in ruins and realised that it was their fighting that caused the destruction. They decided to bury the stones in remote places and just fade away" I recited as I remembered my dad reading it to me.
"You're right kid, though these last two murals with the grey dragon doesn't fit in the story, or at least in it's not mentioned," the woman said. She then looked at Roxie and me and said "I'm sorry I realised I didn't introduce myself. My name is Lenora a pleasure meeting you".
"I'm Roxie," Roxie told her.
"I'm Chase," I told her.
"Pleasure to me the both of you," Lenora said. She then looked at Roxie and asked "Aren't you the Virbank Gym Leader?"
Roxie nodded and answered "Yeah I am.
"How come you're not at the gym? Lenora asked.
"Clay asked me to come Driftveil but didn't say why. So I decided to travel with Chase" Roxie told her.
"That typical of that old cowboy," Lenora said shaking her head, then continued so how come you didn't fly there?"
"He didn't say when he wanted me there so I'm taking my time to arrive just to annoy him".
Lenora laughed then asked " Do you have anyone covering you're gym?"
Roxie nodded and responded "Yeah one of my band mates is currently covering".
I decided to join in the conversation and asked "Lenora how did you get down here?"
"Rope ladder," she then pointed at a rope ladder hanging from where Roxie and I fell, she then continued, "We heard you two scream and rushed down and saw the hole. I was surprised there another floor down here. Thought we had found them all,"
"Guess us falling through the floor was a good thing then," I said with a laugh. Roxie nodded and laugh along with me. Lenora just smiled.
Roxie then looked at me and asked "So Chase you ready to head off."
"Yeah. I am, seen everything that needs seeing and my curiousity is satisfied," I told her.
Roxie and I then turned to leave and headed over to the rope ladder. Before we climbed the rope ladder I shot a look at Lenora and saw she was staring intently at the murals. Roxie climbed up and just before I got on Carlotta tugged on my pants leg. I realised she wanted me to catch her before we left so I thanked her for guiding us here then tapped a Pokéball on her and sent her to the PC and climbed the ladder. Once we left Roxie turned to me and asked "So why did you seem a bit sad when you were talking about the Twin Heroes story?"
I thought for a moment on whether to dodge the question but decided I to answer. "It made me think of my dad," I told her as I let out another sigh.
"And why does that make you sad?"
"He died two years ago while we were on holiday in Sinnoh".
"How did he die?"
I shook my head not really feeling comfortable telling Roxie. Roxie got the hint and didn't press me so we made our way to Nimbassa City in silence.

So this chapter we learnt where Chase went 2 years ago when Team Plasma first surfaced. And how did Chase's dad die? And what is with that mural, will it be relevant later on? You'll have to keep reading to find out.
Anyway I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter. As always let me know what you thought of the chapter.
