The Dark Heir
Author Notes: That last part got some of you thinking, didn't it? No, Lily wasn't thinking of Horcrux's at the end of the last chapter. I've been leaving some clues, but much of the answer is tied to Lily's mother, Victoria Morelli, and her disappearance. As to why Lily was adopted and such.
During the first chapters, Voldemort's desire for a son is unusual. But he disregarded his son after ten years. Lily begins to suspect that Voldemort may have a more sinister motive for their son.
That's all I'll say. I'll review more as the chapters continue.
Chapter 21: A Dark Halloween
Harry, Delphi, and Dora never had to hide so much in their lives.
Gilderoy Lockhart had been persistent, asking questions regarding their mothers.
He would trap them in the corridors and speak on… well, anything about himself.
He even kept talking about his wedding to Lily and Andromeda.
"I don't like the idea of hiding in here," says Harry.
They were currently hiding in the girl's lavatory on the second floor.
"This is a girl's lavatory. There is no way that Lockhart would dare come in here," says Delphi.
"Besides, this bathroom is out of order. It hasn't worked in years," says Dora.
"No one really comes here," adds Artemis.
"It still makes me uneasy," says Harry.
"Why does he think your mom will marry him?" asks Artemis.
"Beats me," says Harry.
"I'm willing to bet that Lockhart only wants to marry Lily for her wealth," says Delphi.
"Why in the hell did Dumbledore hire that monkey?" Harry wonders out loud.
"Is it because you can't secretly sneak off to fondle our mother's tits?" says Delphi.
Delphi grinning, teases her brother.
"Are you two really siblings?" asks Artemis.
"Half," says Harry.
"We have the same father. Our father was with both our mothers at the same time," says Delphi.
"I'm a magic heir. Even though I'm only a cousin to Delphi, I still share a magical lineage to their father," says Dora.
"I heard what happened to your mother," says Artemis.
"I cannot change the fact that I have my father's blood. Nor the fact that he imprisoned and raped my mother for years. Sadly that happens a lot, even in this day and age," says Dora.
Ted Tonks wasn't well respected.
Dumbledore wanted him to be remembered among many who perished against the Dark Lord. Until Andromeda came out and revealed he had kidnapped her and had her ensnarled to be his sex slave for years.
His name was ruined, and hatred towards muggle-borns only increased. Many consider Ted Tonks's action to be that of a lowly beast, and he was marked as a martyr.
"At least my mom found Harry," says Artemis.
"Is she that head over heels for a wizard fourteen years her junior?" says Delphi.
"That was the first time my mom has been happy. It was the first time I'd seen her smile. In public, she's always had to hide and be afraid because of Rita Skeeter's articles," says Artemis.
"Your mother is a wonderful witch. She deserves better," says Harry.
"That's why she's fallen for you. You're the first wizard to see her for her, instead of this public imagine Rita has created," says Artemis.
Harry smiles as he sits down.
If he was ten years old, he would be running around with Selena Wynter.
Andromeda spoke of a messiah who would save the wizarding world and lead them to a new age.
Harry didn't know if he was a messiah or not, but he would do anything to protect his family.
"What's Longbottom and Potter been up to?" asks Harry.
"Kissing Lockhart's ass," says Delphi.
"Are they brain dead? Or do they actually think kissing Lockhart's ass is going to benefit them?" asks Dora.
"It seems stupid, trying to crave favors with Lockhart. You would think since Longbottom is the Boy-Who-Lived, he wouldn't need to kiss another's ass," says Harry.
"Longbottom isn't known for his intellect. It's the only reason why he tolerates Granger. More precisely, he needs Granger to keep his grades up," says Delphi.
It was no secret that Potter and Longbottom had gotten lazy doing their homework. They forced Granger to do their homework to have all the free time they wanted.
Potter claimed because he had Quidditch practice, he didn't have time to do his homework.
Longbottom said he had other things occupying his time.
The two were very laid back regarding their academics.
"We should tell Professor Snape," says Artemis.
The Blacks were silent.
"What?" says Artemis noticing the tension among the Black children.
"Our mothers warned us about trusting Snape. They are unsure of where his allegiance lies," says Dora.
"What do you mean?" asks Artemis.
"He was a Death Eater in the last war. Dumbledore claims he turned and became his spy before the Dark Lord's downfall. So our moms aren't sure if he can be trusted," says Delphi.
"Hence why we're cautious around him. If you haven't been paying attention, we don't really speak to our Head of House. He's not exactly… trusted," says Harry.
"I know Snape has a terrible reputation, but I didn't think it was that horrible," says Artemis.
"During the war, our mothers suspected a spy was revealing sensitive information to Dumbledore. That's why our mothers went to Walburga Black for protection. We were too young, but we were surrounded by constant dangers," says Dora.
Artemis is no stranger to the political system of the wizarding world.
Three young witches would be ripe pickings to any family who sought their power and wealth. They would also kill young witches and wizards from being there growing.
Despite the presence of peace, backstabbing and betrayal existed in the world.
It currently wasn't as common or frequent.
"This world is made up of nothing but lies," Artemis sighs.
It was indeed.
Too many people fought for power. It was hard to know who to trust.
Political alliances were powerful but dangerous.
Thankful no one had died. Though some families were discarded in shame for some moves and actions.
Cornelius Fudge, the current Minister of Magic, is weak and pathetic.
He could barely keep the families in line and kept turning to Dumbledore for help and assistance.
"We could speak to Professor McGonagall or Professor Flitwick," suggests Artemis.
"Why is Lockhart so fixated on your mom?" asks Dora.
"Perhaps he's been sniffing potions fumes," mutters Harry.
"His books are also completely useless," says Delphi.
"You could sell them to a Weasley for some gold," suggests Harry.
"If they had gold," replies Delphi.
They all chuckle, knowing how broke the Weasley family was. They were fortunate enough to attend Hogwarts.
"It's Halloween, so we should enjoy the feast," says Dora.
"As long as Lockhart doesn't do something stupid," mutters Harry.
After their last Defense Against the Dark Arts class, Lockhart held Harry back, asking very absurd and inappropriate questions regarding his wedding with Harry's mother.
From the theme, location, season. Even to the number of guests.
"Yes, I do like a white wedding, and I'm sure Lily would look fantastic in a white martial robe. Of course, the style of the robe cannot be too overbearing, nor can it be too light. Does she want a summer wedding or a fall? I wouldn't say not to a winter wedding. Spring would be nice, having that gentle breeze and nice sun. I could book us a nice location in Rome to get married if she's willing."
Lockhart wouldn't shut up about his potential marriage to Lily Black.
He would go on and on about a wedding that would never happen.
Harry was now skipping Defense Against the Dark Arts and History of Magic.
"Come on, let's get to the feast," says Dora.
Harry stands up, grateful he would be able to eat despite all the trouble Lockhart gave him.
Dora steps outside the bathroom and looks around before Harry steps out.
Even if the bathroom was out of order, that didn't mean Harry wouldn't get in trouble. Boys were not allowed in the girl loo.
They walk up the stairs towards the Slytherin table.
Along the way, they ran into a first-year Gryffindor.
"Watch it, Weasley!" snaps Delphi.
The young female Weasley says nothing as she looks down.
Unwilling to taunt the young Weasley, they ignore her as they head towards the Slytherin table.
The Halloween dinner went off with some older students talking about what they did at Hogsmeade.
"Where are Longbottom, Potter, and Weasley?" whispers Dora.
Delphi and Harry look at the Gryffindor table, and the infamous trio is indeed missing.
This was most unusual as Weasley has never missed a feast and could be seen stuffing his face like no tomorrow.
"Granger is also missing," mutters Artemis.
"Did they have detention?" asks Dora.
"Not likely," says Delphi.
"Granger never gets detention," says Harry.
They couldn't ponder anymore as the feast was now over. Everyone gets up, heading back to their common areas.
Barely halfway towards the Slytherin dormitories, they heard a scream causing everyone to head to the source.
The area was crowded.
The Black children soon realize they are heading towards Moaning Myrtle's bathroom.
They found Potter, Longbottom, Weasley, and Granger near the entrance. Trap on all sides by the sea of students.
"Enemies of the Heir! You'll be next, Mudbloods!" shouts Draco Malfoy gleefully.
"Out of the way. Out of the way," shouts Filch.
He pushes his way through the crowd of students before he stands before the Gryffindor second years.
"Well, well," Filch says, sounding delighted.
"In trouble are you. I'm going to… Mrs. Norris!" bellows Filch.
Filch falls silent before he charges at Granger.
"You murder my cat, Mudblood!" shouts Filch.
Filch grabs his hands around Granger's neck and begins to choke the life out of her.
Granger could barely breathe as she tried desperately to grasp for air.
Despite the countless students surrounding him, it looks like Filch would murder Granger in front of everyone.
"ARGUS!" bellows Dumbledore.
"Release her at once."
Filch does so at once.
Granger hits the floor, breathing in the fresh air as she grabs her throat.
"This… girl… murdered my cat," Filch says, pointing an accusing finger at Granger.
Dumbledore says as he walks forward.
"Everyone, return to your dorms," says Dumbledore.
The perfects took that as a cue to immediately get their students back to the dorms.
Harry, Delphi, Dora, and Artemis stay behind for a few moments.
Mrs. Norris's tail had been tied to a wall torch.
Filch claimed Mrs. Norris had been murdered by Granger.
A very serious accusation.
Even though Mrs. Norris was a good stair walk down, Harry didn't think Mrs. Norris had been killed.
She was frozen stiff, almost like she was trapped in a fearful state.
What caught Harry's eye was the message next to Mrs. Norris.
'The Chamber of Secrets has been Open!
Enemies of the Heir! Beware!'
Harry leads his family away and back to Slytherin's dorms.
Never before has the library been so full.
Everyone was after the same thing.
The history behind the Chamber of Secrets.
Hogwarts had hundreds of legends within its castle.
One of the most famous had to be the Chamber of Secrets.
Unfortunately, even Hogwarts, A History. There were few actual detailed records of the Chamber of Secrets.
It was one of the greatest mysteries at Hogwarts and in the wizarding world.
Scholars, Historians, even Curse Breakers have long sought the Chamber of Secrets but found no clues to its existence.
Neville Longbottom, James Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger had been given a warning. Despite the fact they were found at the wrong place at the wrong time, Dumbledore points out that there was no evidence to suggest they were responsible for the attack on Mrs. Norris.
Dumbledore even hinted petrifaction magic was above N.E.W.T. standard level. Even he, a Master of Transfiguration, could not undo the petrification.
Meaning the caster had to be nearly equally skilled as Dumbledore. Or use a unique type of magic. Something no Second Year could posse.
Dumbledore also points out that the message next to Mrs. Norris looks like it had been written in blood, but none had blood on them.
They all claim they were at Headless Nick's deathday party.
Filch didn't like the verdict and refused to listen to reason. Insistent that Granger had been responsible for Mrs. Norris's conditions.
Granger found herself isolated and alone.
Longbottom, Potter, and Weasley would no longer associate themselves with her and refuse to sit anywhere near her.
