Ned Tedford. Gladys. Those were two names Kayo hoped she wouldn't have to hear for a long time, she had been so close to hitting him and killing that plant but Alan's calm nature had stopped her. With another punch to the bag in the gym she thought about the mission, why would a company send up such an incompetent man who found solace in a plant he had given a name to? It baffled her that he had cared more about his own problems than the fact she and Alan had almost lost their lives trying to rescue him and the pink geranium.

"Hey Kayo."

Kayo spun at her name and found herself facing Virgil, "oh, hey."

"I could hear you muttering from outside, everything ok?"

Kayo sighed as she rubbed the powder off her hands, "I guess so."

"The mission?" Virgil asked as he walked over to the weights bench.

"Our rescue victim rather, I never want to see him again."

Virgil laughed as he lifted the kilos effortlessly, "that bad huh?"

Kayo nodded, "I was scared for Alan's life today, I've never seen him so nervous."

Virgil paused in a mid lift, "but you said he was a Tracy and fine?"

"I kinda lied," Kayo leapt onto the pommel horse into a handstand, "he felt like he couldn't do anything without you guys."

"John did wonder if he should've sent him out there, you too."

Kayo rolled her eyes before flipping off the horse, "yes he should, I just told Alan to focus."

"So did I," Virgil looked up at her, "I said you could handle it."

Kayo smiled as she walked over to join him, "how did he take that?"

"What do you mean?" Virgil sat up, "I just don't want John to doubt you guys, especially you."

"I just mean he seems to really obsess over whether I'm ok or not."

Virgil smirked, "really? I haven't noticed, but when mum was pregnant with Gordon he was really begging for a little sister."

"Ironic that he got an older one."

"Yeah, much older," Virgil shrugged as lay back down on the weights bench.

"I'm the same age as you, jerk," Kayo laughed kicking his foot gently.

"At least we're not old like Scott then," Virgil grunted between lifts, he put the weights down as he sat up, "have you gone to see Brains?"

"No why?"

"He was checking Alan for sunburn."

"I was covered from head to toe, and we were in Thunderbird 3 when we were closest to the sun, I'm fine Virgil. Now, you're cutting into my training," she flicked her ponytail back then took off in three forward flips over to the obstacle course, "you're welcome to join me!"

John paced Thunderbird 5, he knew he was being stupid, he couldn't have a crush on Kayo she was practically his sister, but today seeing her in peril had paralysed his heart, and for crying out loud he had called his brothers to return from their missions just so he had a reason to go home and wait for the two's possible return or to grieve for them. Maybe he could find a way to tell her subtly that he was really glad to see her back safely from the mission, she would be in the combat room at this time of day and most likely to be alone if he knew his family's late evening routine. Sitting down on his bed slash sofa, he opened the comms channel to the gym only to see Kayo and Virgil in head to head combat laughing before falling down onto the padded mat below hugging.

"Forget it," John hung up just as Kayo looked up.

"Was that John?" Kayo asked breathlessly as she stood up.

"A situation?"

"No, he said forget it or something then disappeared again."

"What?"

Kayo shrugged, "I have no idea. Thanks for the battle, I needed that."

"I could tell, you almost punched me."

Kayo smiled, "sorry. I'll see you upstairs."

"FAB."

Kayo picked up her towel and headed to her room to shower, once out she decided to find out what was bothering the astronaut, "John, it's Kayo."

"Hey," John's face was pale and he didn't smile.

"Are you ok?"

"I'm fine."

"Did you need something? You called the gym but I was combat training with Virgil, sorry."

"It's fine, I was only going to ask how the mission went from your point of view."

"It was fine all apart from Ned Tedford but I won't go into detail, I'm too tired. I'll be writing up a full report so I'll send it to you."

John nodded in defeat, his confidence in telling her how he felt about her gone, "ok. Umm, sleep well."

"And yourself. I'm going to the lounge for a bit first, Virgil has composed a new piece, he said he'd play it for me."

The light in John's eyes faded even more, "FAB. See ya."

Kayo smiled as the hologram of her brother faded away and she shrugged before leaving her room to join Scott and Virgil in the lounge.
