AU: That was a great episode all apart from the unfortunate name of the craft, it was obvious from the start it was going to crash or something :) the best bit for me though were all the brotherly moments including Virgil consoling Scott about Jeff's broken record, those two are adorable pair of brothers
Scott looked around the main arena for his family, Gordon had run off with the young fan Tom to purchase hot dogs and Alan had disappeared towards the gift shop, with a moan he mentally punched a wall in front of him, they were on public display and couldn't afford to split up with so many members of the press about, Lady Penelope walked over and chuckled at his tense stance.
"Relax Scott, they know about secrecy and you trust them not to be talking about missions, look how they acted around that child even during a mission."
Scott sighed, "I suppose so, but I really think we should be heading home, and now I can't find anyone. I feel like Dad when we used to go shopping as kids."
Penelope chuckled, "alright, let's have a look," she turned her gaze back to the convention, "Virgil is over there with Kayo, Alan is chatting to the narrator and Gordon is with Tom's parents."
"The narrator? No Alan!" He ran off leaving Lady Penelope speechless, he skidded to a halt beside Alan as his youngest brother's hands curled into fists, "hey Alan, what's going on here?"
"Just telling our friend Nathan here that he should learn the job before doing it."
"I know how to commentate, but not for airshows. I bet you wouldn't be able to do what I just did young man."
"We all make mistakes," Scott said behind a laugh as he smiled at Nathan, "come on, let's get some food," he led Alan away then elbowed him hard in the ribs, "idiot, do not start an argument here, all eyes are on us."
"But Scott?"
"But no-one, we're going home, help me round up the others."
Kayo hugged Virgil hard then turned as Scott walked over, "hey, are we off home?"
"Yes, Alan was about to start an argument with the commentator."
Virgil smirked, "we would've stopped it in time."
"We did," Scott frowned at the blonde pouting beside him, "so what was the hug about?"
"Virgil apologised for snapping at me on the mission, simple," Kayo smiled, "don't get so touchy sweetheart."
The quartet walked through the exit and out to the launchpad where they had landed their ships, they passed Thunderbird 4 and gasped as they spotted Gordon kissing Penelope hard against the submarine, her fingers were twisted in his hair and his hands held her golden dress tightly, Virgil stood bemused looking at his sibling's expressions already aware of the new relationship.
"Ahem, Gordon?" Scott coughed and his brother jumped a foot into the air.
"Scott! Oh god, you guys weren't meant to find out," his cheeks turned the colour of the sunset lighting the sky.
Penelope tucked a strand of hair over her ear and pulled her bra strap up onto her shoulder, "hi guys. Um, are you off home?"
"That's right," Virgil smirked, "I'll prep Thunderbird 2, thanks for helping us today Lady Penelope."
"My pleasure," she smiled at him as he waved and ran over to his ship.
"Lady Penelope, how long have you been seeing Gordon?" Alan asked as his brother blushed scarlet.
"Ever since we saved that tanker, he saved my life and well, I've always liked him," Lady Penelope smiled, "but I can see this is embarrassing him so I'll change the subject. Now, which one of you is going to give me a lift home?"
"I will if you'd like?" Scott held his hand up, "unless Gordo wants to try flying Thunderbird 1 again."
"As much as I like that idea, your ship scares me. I've got to get Thunderbird 4 back to Virgil anyway, catch up with you soon Pen," Gordon kissed Lady Penelope's cheek then hurried into his ship leaving his brothers to laugh.
Kayo smirked, "well well, what a day."
Lady Penelope got aboard Thunderbird 1 with Scott, "I'm sorry, we were going to tell you eventually, but it's still very sudden."
Scott looked over his shoulder at her, "it's not a problem at all, I just can't believe you like him back, he's obsessed with you."
Penelope smiled, "is he?"
"Yep, we can't get him to shut up sometimes, I've had to remind him to stop making it so obvious," Scott fired the engines and Thunderbird 1 rose into the air, "now hold on."
Gordon drove Thunderbird 4 up into the module and waited for the grabs to bring him back into the mainframe, he left the ship and walked up through the green walled corridors to the cockpit which was buzzing with laughter before he had even set foot through the door, "alright, shut up," he whined as he walked to the front.
"You were kissing Lady Penelope!" Alan cried with laughter, "you're so busted, wait until we tell John."
"Oh he knows," John's hologram appeared on Virgil's dash, "way to go Gordon."
Gordon slipped into the co-pilot's chair and tapped his feet subconsciously on the metal floor below, "we were alone, it was perfect."
Virgil laughed, "busted."
Kayo joined in from Thunderbird Shadow, "double busted."
"How is it busted when we both wanted to kiss each other?"
Alan shrugged, "it just is."
"That's not a valid answer," Gordon pouted, "you guys are clearly jealous."
"Not me, I have Scott," Kayo shrugged, "ah well, at least I have someone else I can discuss relationships with now. Over and out, see you at home."
When they eventually all arrived on the island, Virgil went in search of Scott, his room was empty but an item was missing, he made his way down to the beach and spotted his eldest brother sitting on the rocks at the end known as rocky cavern, as he got closer so did the music, and he sat down quietly beside his brother, he looked out at the waves hitting the beach timed to the strumming on the guitar strings his brother was playing and felt Scott's eyes on him.
"Hey Virgil."
"You OK?"
"I guess so."
Virgil smirked, "well that's a lie isn't it?"
"Kwark broke Dad's record and he doesn't know," Scott stopped playing and leant against the guitar tapping his fingers on its body.
"When we bring him home, we'll tell him and invite her over to meet him. I think he would like that."
"That was some plane, it was faster than the TV21, which we let get destroyed," Scott sighed, "all the stuff we've done I'm going to have to apologise for."
"You won't need to apologise for anything."
"Apart from not getting him sooner."
"Scott, come on, you're his son! Dad has never blamed you for anything, not even when you were a kid and dropped his first communicator into the ocean."
Scott scoffed, "I was ten, that could be forgiven, now I'm 25 and there's no excuse for not bringing your dad home as soon as he goes missing."
"We thought he was dead to begin with, that's worse."
"Please don't remind me," Scott closed his eyes feeling a lump forming in his throat, "this is taking forever Virgil, how long does it take to build an engine? That airshow was a waste of our time."
"Dad would've wanted us to go, he always said we should make time for the public, it's not about fame but there is time for courtesy. Us going showed the public that we're not rich snobs who hide away only showing ourselves when there's fame to gain, it showed them that we enjoy our job and want them to know who is there for them."
Scott sighed, "you always know how to cheer me up, Virgil," he picked the guitar up again, "and you're right, he would've been happy seeing his record broken."
"Uh huh. Good work today."
"Me? You're the one who designed a cloud ramp to push Kwark into space."
"Your idea would've worked if you could have gone the same speed, don't feel bad about it. It was Tom's idea anyway, not mine."
"Ha, that kid knew more than I would've known, I wonder who he was working for?"
Virgil elbowed him, "what are you like? He was just an obsessed little miner."
Scott smirked, "maybe, alright I'll let him off," he resumed playing, "I'll see you back at the house."
Virgil jumped off the rocks as his brother performed with the ocean dynamics then walked back up to the house, he passed Alan who shot him daggers and he sighed, "you cannot seriously still be annoyed at me for earlier?"
"You embarrassed me Virgil, you're as bad as Scott."
"Ouch. I don't think I am."
"There were cameras and people watching us, and you more or less licked me."
"In what way did I lick you?"
"It was your tongue used to wipe my face."
"I used my thumb. Besides, if I hadn't done that, you would've had chocolate on your cheek, that kid was tidier than you were."
"You also embarrassed me in front of Kayo," Alan grumbled.
Virgil smirked as he sat down on a sun lounger taking his shirt off, "ok, I'll admit that was slightly intentional, but I was looking out for you."
"Sure you were."
"I'm sorry alright? Geesh, it's not like I cuddled you."
"I would've hit you at that point."
"Alright, next time I won't do anything and let you walk in front of a camera with food on your face or uniform out of place shall I?" Virgil shrugged as he closed his eyes.
"Hi boys," Kayo waved from the top of the diving board and did a perfect flip into the pool splashing water all over Virgil and soaking his jeans.
"Dammit Kayo!"
"You looked like you needed a wash!" Kayo smirked as she floated on her back, "aren't you guys coming in?"
"Yeah, I will," Alan jumped up, "but let me change first."
Virgil stuck his tongue out at her receiving an air kiss back and he went to change into his swim shorts in the shack around the back of the house, "this is your fault!"
"Crybaby!" Kayo called back.
Virgil returned to the pool side and dived in making sure to get Kayo, "gotcha!"
Kayo reemerged, "nah, I dodged. How do you not have a girlfriend Virgil, you could grate cheese on those abs."
Virgil shrugged as he leant his arms on the back of the pool edge, "I haven't really been looking, plus you and Penelope are taken."
"That's an excuse," Kayo swam up and sat up on the edge beside him.
"Not when you're on a rescue and you have to make split second decisions. That's the priority, not asking women out on dates. I'm not interested in love at the moment, but I'm happy for Gordon."
"Are you?" Kayo placed her hand on his and he sat up on the edge with her.
"Well, I have to be, he's my brother."
"Virgil?"
Virgil sighed, "I thought Penny and I would have a shot and see where it would go from there, but Gordon got her first."
"I see. I have to admit, I didn't think she would go for him, you and her have always looked cute together."
Virgil stared at the water as he tapped the surface with his feet, "you're not usually this open for conversation."
"I'm head of security and covert ops, it's my job to be like a spy."
"Hmm, I guess so," he looked round at her, "well you know my secret now, please don't tell Gordon or Lady Penelope. Or Scott."
"I don't tell Scott my own secrets, if I did he wouldn't leave me alone," Kayo laughed as she kicked the water, "Alan is coming back, just come and talk to me whenever you're feeling down."
"Thanks Kayo," he kissed her forehead gently and she smiled.
"Race you to the deep end!" Kayo slipped into the water pulling Virgil in with her and Alan jumped in.
"Wait up!" Alan dived under the water.
Scott walked back to his room but paused seeing Gordon's bedroom door open, he peered in and noticed him sitting on a chair on his balcony, "how are you doing Gordon?"
"I'm fine. Scott, do you mind me being with Penelope?"
"If you're happy, then I'm happy. I'm with Kayo and that's much weirder I bet for all of you."
Gordon shrugged, "sometimes, especially knowing that you're sleeping together."
Scott smiled, "I'll give you that. Well, Penelope and I spoke in Thunderbird 1, she says she loves you too."
"Loves me?"
"Uh huh, now does that cheer you up?"
Gordon grinned, "it does, it absolutely does."
"Come on, don't sulk in here."
"Why do you have your guitar?"
Scott looked down at his hand, "it helps me think. I was on the beach."
Gordon leapt up and grabbed his own guitar off the floor, "for old time sake? Again."
Scott shrugged and sat down on the edge of Gordon's bed as his brother turned his balcony chair around, "after 4?"
"Ah, my favourite number," he grinned as Scott counted them in and it wasn't long before their playing brought the others up to see what was going on, Virgil poked his head round the door followed by Alan and Kayo and grinned at the music their siblings were playing.
"Why not just come in?" Gordon rolled his eyes as he strummed and Scott looked up.
"I love this piece," Kayo smiled as she sat next to Scott as he played, "Flamenco Fiasco."
Gordon nodded, "it's great right?"
Scott tapped his fingers down the strings, "it's tricky though, and I have long fingers."
Gordon rounded off the piece with Scott, "well, shall we do the next airshow?"
"I'll think about it,'' Scott put the guitar down.
"That means no," Virgil smirked, "I've seen that look before. Does anyone want to watch a film?"
"I'm in! See you down there," Alan ran from the room and Kayo laughed.
"Want to watch a film Scott?"
Scott smiled at her, "yeah but we'll join you guys later," he looked up at Virgil and Gordon.
"No kissing on my bed," Gordon wiggled his finger at them before following Virgil out of the room to the lounge.
"You were pretty antisocial today Scott, you know I don't like that side of you," Kayo frowned as they walked round to their shared room, "it's a good thing that kid didn't see you."
Scott tutted, "we're not celebrities."
"But we are, as much as you hate that fact, those people came out to see us and our ships, the least you could've done was acknowledge them."
"I did."
"Yeah, at the last minute and even then you didn't want to."
Scott frowned at her, "Kayo, you're head of security, we put our safety at risk today."
"No we didn't, we didn't introduce ourselves to anyone. You need to relax sometimes or you'll start to notice that you send out negative vibes, all of us felt quite embarrassed when you marched off."
"So did Virgil?" Scott protested.
"He was getting Thunderbird 2 prepared for the kid, but then the Icarus went wrong, you plainly did not want to get involved and that's not acceptable for a member of International Rescue."
Scott sighed at her disappointed expression, "I'm sorry Kayo. You're right, I guess I just thought we were wasting time there, I should've been nicer to that kid, I didn't even thank him for coming to see us. I practically looked after Alan at that age."
"Uh huh," Kayo placed her hand on his cheek gently, "forget about it, I just wanted to let you know."
"How nice of you," Scott replied sarcastically before pulling her closer to his chest, "for a moment I thought you were really mad at me."
"I always am," she giggled then pressed her lips to his and pushed him onto the bed.
