Scott was in trouble, Gordon and Scott were in trouble and Kayo found the whole thing hilarious.
Virgil walked into the lounge absolutely fuming and went straight to the piano to rid the anger there, Scott had followed him into the lounge apologising profusely but his closest partner wasn't listening, Gordon arrived last holding an action figure in his hands and mimicking Scott's walk with it.
"Alright guys, what is going on?" Kayo asked as Scott sat down on the sofa beside her.
"We may have destroyed an artwork Virgil worked really hard on, but it was an accident," Scott's eyes were sad and Kayo looked behind her at Virgil.
Virgil glared down at them angrily from the piano, "why didn't you go out the way you went in? Then the WRM wouldn't have been right under the surface," he huffed, "you just better hope we don't get a bill from that gardener."
Kayo laughed again, "I see. And Gordon, why are you angry?"
"Scott took this vintage action figure out of its display box, and now it's worth nothing. Scraps was going to sell it," he held it up unhappily.
"Oh for crying out loud," Scott covered his face in his hands, "we were rescuing someone today, not landscaping or going treasure hunting."
Virgil growled as he played, "I didn't even get to take a photo of my topiary."
"Your topiary, what the heck is topiary?" Kayo looked over her shoulder at him.
Gordon smirked, "oh, it's bush designing."
Kayo almost split her sides after a bout of uncontrollable laughter, "haha, oh Virgil you're adorable!"
Virgil grimaced, "shut up."
"Yeah he's pretty sensitive about it," Scott shrugged, "well Gordon, I don't care about that figure, in fact I might keep it," he snatched the toy out of Gordon's hands.
Virgil stood up scraping the stool across the floor, "see you later," he stormed out and Kayo watched him go sympathetically.
"You guys are so mean, what had he designed?"
"A Thunderbird 2 shaped hedge, it was pretty good actually," Scott shrugged.
"And what exactly happened to it?"
"The WRM machine caused a sinkhole and the ground collapsed in on itself, and well, the hedge Virgil had been working on snapped in half and fell in," Scott bit his lip, "we do feel bad, but I thought he would have forgiven us by now."
Gordon pouted, "give me that back Scott, I might still be able to make some money from it."
"No, this is my revenge for you putting my life in danger, if we hadn't kept stopping then we would've got out without any damage," Scott leant back against the sofa with a grin.
Kayo sighed, "you guys are exhausting, and I've missed it."
Brains entered the lounge with the Mechanic, "we're all set."
"For what?" Scott asked.
"The Hood no longer holds the Mechanic under his control, he's f-free."
The Mechanic smiled as he walked down the steps into the ring, "it's true, he's gone and I offer my sincere apologies for all the pain I caused you in the past."
Scott's eyes narrowed, "you must have known deep inside that what you were doing to us was wrong? We were trying to rescue people and you attacked us."
"It was the Hood attacking you, not me. I never harmed Kayo."
Kayo snorted sharply, "yes you did, when I was in Thunderbird 4."
"I didn't know that was you. We met face to face and I didn't lay a finger on you."
"A lie again. You sent your Mechabugs after me on your own ship, had I not escaped I would've gone up in that explosion."
The Mechanic sighed, "I didn't want to hurt any of you intentionally. I'm sorry and now I'm willing to do anything to bring Jeff Tracy back to Earth."
Brains nodded, "the Hood is g-gone for good."
"I sense a but?" Gordon raised an eyebrow.
"The Hood saw what we were doing and the Mechanic's memories, he knows about the T-Drive."
Scott swore, "he knows? He will be after us, we have no idea when that engine will be completed, he could attempt a sabotage."
"I won't let him," Kayo rested her hand on his leg, "we'll just have to keep an eye out."
"Let's get to work, Mechanic," Brains smiled.
Kayo got up, "excuse me for a moment," she walked down to the poolside and spotted Virgil, he was pruning? "Virgil, what are you, oh wow!"
Virgil smiled, "my first one was damaged."
Kayo looked at the red roses at the back of a green hedge in the shape of Thunderbird 2, "that's incredible, are you sure this won't be destroyed?"
"It's far enough away from the pool, she'll be fine," Virgil smiled, "I think I'll make one for everyone but put Scott's near to the pool for revenge," his smile turned down, "are you alright?"
"Brains freed the Mechanic from my uncle, but now he knows what we're doing which includes getting a T-Drive engine built. Virgil, he's going to come after us."
"I trust you to take him down again."
"I've never taken him down," she hopped up into the picnic bench unhappily, "this is a disaster."
Virgil trimmed the wings slightly on the hedge then put the shears down as he hopped up onto the bench beside her, "don't worry about these things until they happen, that's my best advice."
Kayo leant against him, "I guess. Are you really annoyed at Scott?"
"Not anymore, but I wish that topiary hadn't been destroyed, it was a great accomplishment," he smiled, "your boyfriend can be a little insensitive sometimes."
"And you can be a little too sensitive," she nudged him in the ribs playfully.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you, I'm armed."
"So am I," Kayo lunged and pushed him to the ground pinning his arms down on the grass, "try again, action man."
Scott jogged down the steps, "hey guys, what on? Virgil!"
"What? Kayo attacked me first," he let go of Kayo reluctantly and she pushed herself up off the ground with a grimace.
"Anyway, I suppose you know about the Mechanic?"
"Yes, Kayo just told me. I'm surprised you're not angrier, Scott."
Scott shrugged, "I trust Brains, and," he paused, "Virgil is that topiary?"
"Yes, I learned a lot in the time you guys took to find your way out of the trash, what do you think?"
Scott smiled, "nice one, that's an amazing skill Virgil. Ever thought of a career change?"
"You're going in the pool Scott, whether you want to or not," the artist frowned.
"You love me too much to do that."
"You destroyed my topiary, don't be too sure on that love," Virgil narrowed his eyes, "it's going to take me a long time to forgive you."
Alan ran past and skidded to a halt noticing the shaped hedge, "what the heck is that?"
"What is what?" Virgil turned around.
"This hedge, it's shaped like a bug. Who did it?"
"Me."
Alan burst out laughing, "awwwh, oh Virgil that is so cute! It's Thunderbird 2!"
"Right, that's it!" Virgil threw Alan over his shoulder in a fireman's lift ignoring the squirming then dumped him into the deep end as Scott ran after them, Virgil stuck his foot out and his eldest brother tripped straight into the water.
"Scott!" Kayo cried as she helped him out of the pool, "dammit Virgil."
Virgil shrugged, "they both deserve it, and now you're forgiven, Scott."
Scott coughed and shook his head sending water everywhere, "ok, we're even," he chuckled, "let's get some food huh?"
Virgil grinned, "FAB," he looked back at his topiary Thunderbird, "at least it's another skill I can add to my various abilities," he followed the group up to the kitchen and poured himself a coffee, "would anyone like a topiary commission?"
Gordon chuckled, "you've come around then?"
"I'd love one," Scott shrugged.
Virgil grinned maliciously, "you've got it, brother."
