Raw: Aug. 27, 2007
I casually walked backstage for Monday Night Raw tonight. It's been almost a day since I left Chris on the tour bus. I look at the match card. The only Divas match is Beth vs. Maria. However, Candice has an interview right after that.
"Damn." I mutter. "Nothing."
"Do I have anything?"
I turn around and see a returning Jeff Hardy. "Hey, Jeff! You have a match against Mr. Kennedy."
"Good. That bitch put me out of action for a few weeks."
"Good luck. Kick his ass a little extra for me."
"Will do. How are you?"
"Good. How are you?"
"Good as well. Are you going to the dinner after Raw tonight?"
Tonight is Booker and Sharmell's last day in WWE, so there is gonna be a dinner to honor them that most of the roster is going to be at.
"Yeah." I reply. "Are you?"
"Yep." Jeff says. "How's Chris?"
"He's Chris."
"He pissed you off. Didn't he?"
"Yep."
"What'd he do?"
"Lied."
"What'd he lie about?"
"The conversation he had with Randy. Chris said that it was just regular guy talk with Randy about wrestling. But I found out it was about me mostly. And he told both Randy and me that we could never be friends again."
Jeff rolled his eyes. "That's such a dick move. Listen, I gotta go get ready for my match. See ya later."
"Bye, Jeff."
I head to the Divas locker-room to put my stuff in there. However I walk in to see Mickie James in a deep make out with Kenny Dykstra. I roll my eyes and put my bags in my spot.
"You two have fun." I say before quickly exiting and running directly into Melina.
"Watch it." Melina says with a rude tone.
"Sorry." I say. "Are you heading into our locker-room?"
"Yeah. Why?"
"There's a big make out session going on in there."
"Is it Mickie and Kenny again?"
"Again?"
"Yeah. I walked in on them last week."
"Well it's them."
"Damn it, Mickie. Thanks for the heads-up."
"No problem."
I start heading to Catering. Torrie catches up to me on the way.
"What's up, pal?" Torrie says kindly.
"Not much. I walked in on Mickie James and Kenny Dykstra making out."
"Oh. I did the same on Tuesday. I thought she still had a thing for Randy."
"So did I."
"So…what are you wearing tonight?"
"This gorgeous dress. I have a dress that I think you'll look good in too. You should try it on later."
"I will. I don't know what to wear yet."
Torrie smiles. "This is why you have me."
"Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome my guest at this time, the WWE Women's Champion, Candice Michelle!"
Candice walks into the interview area.
"Candice, last night Beth Phoenix won the Battle Royal to become the Number One Contender to your championship. Are there any fears that your championship reign may be coming to an end?"
Candice smiles. "Actually no. I am at the highest point in my career and I'm not afraid of Beth Phoenix. This championship is staying with me for a long time and…"
I enter the interview area. "Can we talk?"
"Yeah. What's up?"
"I'm really sorry about things have been these past few weeks. I was too worried about the championship that I didn't think about our friendship."
Candice smiles. "It's okay. I'm sorry too."
"Okay."
We hug each other, and the segment ends.
"I can't believe that John's dad was willing to take a Punt Kick for Randy and John's storyline." Torrie says as we pull up to the restaurant for the dinner for Booker and Sharmell.
"Me either." I say as we exit the car. "It's crazy."
"I hope he's okay." Candice says.
"Me too."
We get stopped by a hostess as we go head inside.
"Sorry, ladies." The hostess says. "But I need your names before I can let you in."
"Marissa Smith, Candice Beckman, and Torrie Wilson." Torrie says.
"Okay…I see Marissa Smith and Candice Beckman…no Torrie Wilson."
"I'm on the list."
The hostess looks at Torrie snidely. "Are you?"
"Yeah I am."
"No…you're not."
"Let me see the list. Maybe you're missing it."
"I'm not. You're not on the list, bitch."
"Well…" Candice says. "She's with us so c'mon Torrie."
We go to head inside. The hostess blocks us. "She's not on the list."
Torrie grabs the list and looks at it. "I found it. It says Torrie Wilson." She points. "Right here. So, bitch, let us in."
The hostess rolls her eyes and lets us in. Torrie, Candice, and I head inside. There are six different tables. Five with six seats and one with twelve. A few people are sitting down at tables but not many of our coworkers are here yet.
Another hostess smiles and approaches us. "Welcome to La Grande Nourriture. You must be a part of the party. Seating has been randomly assigned. There are name tags at each seat. We will start serving once everyone has arrived. Have a nice meal."
"Thank you." Torrie, Candice, and I say.
We start looking for our seats. Torrie is at one of the six seat tables where Brooke from Extreme Exposé is already sat. Candice and I both end up at the twelve seat table on the left and right of Sharmell. Booker is sitting across from Sharmell. I smile at the couple as Dave approaches. He sits at the end of the table.
"Hello, David." I say.
Batista chuckles. "Hey, Marissa. Hey, everyone else."
I sit quietly as Booker, Sharmell, Dave, and Candice talk amongst each other. After awhile, Booker and Dave walk over to talk to some of the other guys about wrestling, and Candice excuses herself to use the restroom.
Sharmell turns to me. "So…am I allowed to ask you how things are going? We haven't had time to talk recently."
"What do you want to know about?" I ask.
"Everything. You're being too quiet. I think that you need to talk."
I nod. "Yeah. Um…I found that Candice and Randy slept together. That broke our deal from 2004. I felt betrayed for a few weeks. But it's in the past now…"
"Okay. Anything else?"
"Chris and I had a fight last night. He lied about a conversation that he had with Randy. Chris called it guy stuff, but I found out that it was about me. Chris lied to me, and I can't stop thinking about it. This is the second fight I've had with him since I've returned. He's returning at some point too, so I'll see him a lot more. Sharmell, I am starting to have doubts about my relationship. It's been so hard lately. I'm struggling. Between this and being around Randy so much, I'm starting to lose my mind. I think I might end up breaking up with Chris. I don't see being around Randy and fighting with Chris at the same time going well for my mental health."
"When is Chris coming back?"
"I don't know. He was supposed to find out yesterday, but we fought before he could tell me. I just don't know."
"What about Randy? You've gotta find a way to deal with him."
"I don't know. I want to be in a good friendship with him, but I don't think I can as long as I am with Chris."
"So…what now?"
"I might have to choose between them. I don't know how I'm going to do it."
"Yeah. That's something you have to figure out alone. By the way, I believe Randy is sitting at this table."
"Okay. That's fine. And you're right. I have to figure this out alone." I spot Randy approaching as my eyes start to water. "I'm going to excuse myself to the restroom. Please don't mention this to Randy."
Sharmell smiles understandingly. "I wouldn't dream of it."
I smile as I get up from my seat. "Thanks, Sharmell."
I head towards the bathroom and pass by Randy. He looks at me in concern, but I don't acknowledge it. I just head straight for the restroom, so I can calm down.
Randy's P.O.V.
I look at Marissa with concern as she rushes towards the restroom. I can see that something's upset her. Was it Chris maybe? I hate that asshole. If Marissa and I were actually friends right now, I would stop her and calm her down, but we're not. I continue towards my seat, which is at the same table that Marissa previously sat at.
I sit down and look at Sharmell, who is the only other person there. "Is Marissa okay?"
Sharmell quietly nods. "Yeah. She's just stressed out about work."
I nod. "I understand."
Vince McMahon approaches the table. "Not to be nitpicking, but I always sit at the edge of the table just in case something happens. Randal, do you mind switching me seats?"
I smile. "It's fine, Vince."
We switch seats as Booker and Dave Bautista approach the table. I am now sitting two seats from the left of Sharmell.
Sharmell nudges me. "Marissa is sitting between us. Please don't piss her off."
I smile. "I'll stay on my best behavior."
Marissa's P.O.V.
Candice walks back with me to the table. The table has every seat full now. Randy ends up next to me. I receive a text on my phone.
Sharmell: Vince asked Randy to switch seats with him.
Me: Oh. Okay.
Food starts getting served. I quietly eat as the rest of the table is talking while eating.
"So, Marissa," Jeff Hardy asks. "When are you getting your championship rematch?"
I glance over at Vince. "I'm not sure."
"I'm working on that." Vince says.
"Thanks, Vince."
My phone starts to vibrate. Everyone at the table looks at me. I pick up my phone. Chris is calling me.
I decline the call. "Sorry about that."
Everyone understandingly nods.
"Who was it?" William Regal asks.
"Chris." I reply.
"And you ignored it?"
"I'm not in the mood to speak with him right now."
"Oh. Okay."
I quietly continue eating. Randy, Dave, and Vince are discussing championship matches.
"So," Vince says. "At Unforgiven, we are going to do another match of Randy Orton versus John Cena for the WWE Championship, and I'm thinking we'll do a Triple Threat between the Great Khali, Rey Mysterio, and you, Batista, for the World Heavyweight Championship."
"Nice." Randy says.
"I'm looking forward to it." Dave says.
"Good," Vince gleefully exclaims. "And Candice, your match against Beth Phoenix will also be at Unforgiven."
"Okay." Candice nods.
"And Marissa, I've been thinking about your championship rematch since Jeff over here asked earlier, and I think, depending on the result of Candice's match at Unforgiven, I may try to have you in a championship match as early as No Mercy."
"Oh." I say. "Okay. Thanks, Vince."
As we continue talking and eating, my phone starts to ring again. It's Chris…again. As I go to decline the call, Randy swipes my phone from me and declines the call before turning my phone to silent.
"Problem solved." Randy says quietly.
I shoot him a weird look before taking my phone back. "Thanks…"
Candice shoots me a confused look as Randy reinserts himself into the conversation. I shrug at Candice.
The rest of the eating time at the table goes uninterrupted. After everyone is done eating, every person in attendance takes a group photo. I make sure to talk to Booker and Sharmell before leaving with Candice and Torrie.
"So…" Candice starts. "What was Randy's deal with your phone?"
I sigh as we get in the car. "I honestly have no idea."
Torrie looks over at me. "You're going to have to sort out your issues with Randy and Chris at some point."
I sigh again. "I know."
