Chapter 46

Camilla POV

Uma ran back to the Fish and Chip Shop, Camilla struggling to keep up Uma was so eager for whatever her mind had come up with. She ran through the empty shop, the usual customers either handing in their applications or out trying to tear up any they could get before they were turned in to Mal. She dashed down past her bedroom into a lower cavern that made Camilla pause in her tracks when she saw it. There was a clamshell on the wall that held several potion bottles and in the middle of the room Uma was pouring certain ones into her mother's old brewing stand.

"Where's your mom?" Camilla asked looking around worried that the sea witch might show up.

"My mom bailed." Uma said not looking up from her work, "She swam to the Isle of the Doomed. Under Maleficent's old castle is a sea cavern where my Aunt Morgana lives. Though I never thought I'd see the day where they felt so threatened they'd actually seek each other for protection." She said going to retrieve more bottles of ingredients and Camilla remembered when she'd asked Harry about her own mother after she'd been rescued from Medusa's. "Safety in numbers and all that. Whatever's coming it's scaring even the worst of us." Even Camilla had begun to feel the change Harry had been talking about, she'd asked him about it and he had agreed; it felt like something under their feet was stirring, like an anger that had been pushed to its limit and was getting ready to burst. She just hoped that whatever it was that could be living down in the heart of the Isle wouldn't explode and take them all out with it.

"What are you up to?" Camilla asked feeling a bit better that Ursula wouldn't barge in at any time and find them in her lair. Just as she asked the question the potion Uma was brewing changed color and bubbled.

"Mal might be surrounded by guards and VK's who are willing to protect her from us, but they can't protect her from everything, especially herself." Uma smiled as she watched the potion brew. "All I have to do is plant that seed of doubt, that not everything is perfect in her little life like it seems and her own paranoia will destroy her for us."

"So what does this do?" she asked gesturing to the potion.

"It'll let me in her head and toy with her mind for a bit." Uma said before bringing her finger to the potion and dipping it in. When she pulled it out the ripples it made brought up an image of Mal, then Uma waved her hand over it and Mal was suddenly in the middle of the woods along the shore of the Isle, everything was dark like it was the middle of the night and Uma glanced up from the potion for a moment to share a grin with Camilla.

Third Person POV

Mal was walking through the vines of the thick forest she was in, she could hear the ocean hitting the shore but couldn't see it, actually, she couldn't see much at all. It must have been late at night but she had sworn it had just been the middle of the afternoon. Then she saw a light, it was the only light around and she headed for it. Soon she saw where it was coming from, this glowing blue sphere was suspended in midair and was emitting this strong blue light. Carefully she got closer to it, and closer, and closer. Then when she could almost see her reflection in it she heard a voice.

"Mal." It whispered.

"Dad?" she asked then the light vanished and she was left in darkness again. When she kept walking and finally did find the shore she left the forest and stepped onto the sand of the beach.

"Mal!" she heard and spun around only to find Dizzy rushing toward her. "What are you doing way out here?"

"Dizzy." She said relieved, "Umm, it was so strange. I was just walking. . . in the woods and, I came across this. . . glowing orb. . . thing and it was talking to me. And it was whispering, my name. . . and what was stranger was it sounded exactly like. . ." she looked back into the forest one more time, "I don't know. I don't know, couldn't be Dad, that would be impossible. Wait, why are you out here?" she asked hoping to get her mind off the subject.

"I'm looking for you. Remember? We were supposed to meet up at Curl Up and Dye hours ago."

"Oh shoot."

"It's okay, don't worry about it. I'm just excited to –" she suddenly cut off what she was saying and started staring at the ground.

"Dizzy? Are you okay? Hello?" Mal waved her hand in front of the girl's face.

"Of course I'm okay." She said snapping out of it, "There's just sooo much. . . " she started circling Mal until the dragon girl's back was to the ocean, "Glam! To add in so little time. Starting with these nails. Okay, just because they're call cuticles does not mean they're cute."

"Hey." Mal said jokingly offended. Then something from under Dizzy's shirt started to glow and the young girl grabbed her chest like she was in pain.

"Dizzy? What? Are you. . . glowing?" she asked reaching for the necklace Dizzy was wearing and revealed a very familiar shell. "This is Uma's necklace. Dizzy why are you wearing Uma's necklace!"

"What are you talking. . . "she trailed off looking down at the necklace then she looked back up at Mal and there was something different in her eyes as she smirked. When she spoke again it wasn't in her own voice.

"I wouldn't say that Dizzy's wearing my necklace." Uma's voice said, "It's more like my necklace is wearing Dizzy." She laughed.

"Uma your fight is with me no one else and she's a child! This is so low. Even for you."

"Oh, I can go lower, princess." She said taking off her glasses and throwing them into the sand stomping on them. "Oops. Just. You. Wait."

"Wow." Mal said unimpressed. "Okay. So then where are your slimy little eels here to ruin your evil plans? Huh? Shouldn't they be showing up sometime soon? Or, do I actually have something to be afraid of for once in my life?"

"Oh, you should definitely be frightened." Harry Hook said emerging from the woods in his classic red coat with Gil by his side. "Yeh never seem to learn yer lesson do ya Mal? Yer not welcome on the Isle anymore."

"Really? And what are you gonna do about it huh? Mr. Coathanger?" Mal scoffed starting to back away.

"His name is Harry." Gil said, "Oh, I get it, I get it, it kinda looks like a ha ha, that's pretty funny Mal."

"Shut up." Harry hissed hitting Gil in the shoulder not taking his glare off Mal as the pirate trio moved forward.

"Thank you. I'll be here all week." Mal replied giving a small bow.

"Yeh know yer not as strong as ya think ya are Mal." Harry said, "Uma's gonna have the last laugh."

"I wouldn't want to be you right now Mal." Gil said as Harry shook his head with a smile and tsked his tongue.

"I wouldn't want to be her ever." Dizzy/Uma said.

"What makes you think this is going to be any different then every other time that I've beaten you huh?" Mal asked.

Then Uma's voice came from Harry's mouth, "Those were measly little battles. There's a war coming."

"And in this war I will be triumphant." Uma finished now speaking through Gil.

"I'll have everything. The Isle. Auradon." Dizzy/Uma said, "And you princess? I'm coming for you Mal."

"Oh yeah?" Mal asked, "Not if I come for you first." Then she ran down the dock and jumped into the water.

Uma, while still looking into the potion she brewed had some fun messing with Mal's mind while the dragon thought they were doing battle underwater.

"You? Strong enough? In your dreams? Oh Mal." She said shaking her head. When she got bored she woke Mal up and the dragon witch found herself on the same beach where her vision started.

"Mal!" Dizzy shouted as she came out of it. "Mal! Mal! Hello? Mal!"

"Um Dizzy?" Mal asked.

"Yeah who else would it be? Are you okay?"

"It was the. . . strangest thing. I was walking. . . through the woods and I came across this like. . . glowing orb thing and. . . and you were Uma. Or you were speaking with Uma's voice, you had Uma's voice. And then I was underwater? But I could swim. . . "

"Oooookay, maybe you shouldn't go back over the bridge just yet. I could give you a makeover. I'm sure that'll make you feel better. Besides, you definitely want to look your best tomorrow!"

"Mal." A voice whispered and echoed through the trees and both Dizzy and Mal turned looking for the source.

"Did you hear that?" Dizzy asked fixing her glasses nervously.

"Yeah. . . Dizzy I think. . . we might want to get out of here. There's a danger coming and I. . . I can feel it. And I think it might be headed for Auradon." She said grabbing Dizzy's hand and heading back the way she'd come getting out of there.

"That's right Mal." Uma said into the remainder of the potion, "Danger is coming for you and you better keep your eyes open because this time, you'll never see where it's coming from. You poor unfortunate soul." She laughed.

Camilla POV

When the image faded Camilla looked up at Uma with a smile but she noticed there was something in the girl's eyes that was off as she stared into the empty basin that once held the potion.

"What is it?" Camilla asked. "Did something go wrong?"

"No." Uma said with a shake of her head, "I think someone else jumped in and messed with the vision I made."

"What do you mean?"

"That blue light, and the voice that spoke to Mal. . . that wasn't me."

"Blue light?" Camilla asked, "Or blue fire?"

Uma's eyes widened at the question, Camilla had been filled in on how the others had rescued her and Harry and she'd been told all about the Facilier girls Freddie and Celia and how they'd worked their tarot magic to help locate them. Uma had said Freddie had a vision of blue fire and a crown, while that had led them to Harry in the dungeon what if it also had been foretelling of this moment and what if that blue fire was somehow in connection to the stirring feeling that was causing all the great villains to lock themselves in their lairs? If it was the same then that spelt trouble for everyone on the Isle and in Auradon because they all knew only one villain was associated with blue fire.

The two girls stayed silent for a long moment each one now unsure of what was in store. Their little scheme to mess with Mal's head had only given them so many questions, like was the blue fire what they thought it was? What was that Mal had said about her father, whoever that was.

"If that blue fire was someone messing with your vision. . ." Camilla began, "And it's who we think it is, and that someone is what's making all the villains hide then –"

"Then we need to get everyone off this rock as soon as we can." Uma finished, "And Mal and her VK Day's won't do it soon enough."

"They have to open the barrier one more time today to leave." Camilla pointed out.

"They won't listen to us. If we tell them some great danger is coming for the Isle and they have to let everyone leave now they'll think it's all part of a scheme so we can follow them to Auradon and get revenge."

"No, they'll never believe us and they'll never let everyone off at once." Camilla agreed, "But you can leave. Sneak off when they aren't looking and dive into the sea. We need at least one person out there with big magic who's looking out for us. Uma you're the only one who can save the Isle."
