CanonCompliant*When Minas Tirith is evacuated during the War of the Ring, Idrin, sister-daughter of the Steward Denethor, remains in the city to continue serving at the Houses of Healing. With her work as a healer and her duties in the Citadel left nearly unaltered, things feel as familiarly quiet as ever. Yet, oftentimes the occurrences that touch one's life are rather unassuming.

There were many happy occurrences when the War was finally over; alliances were made, marriages celebrated, and Realms rebuilt. But not everyone had a happy ending. Love cannot mend all things, cannot give everyone the future they crave or even deserve. Duty to the homeland comes above all else for many in Middle Earth. For two in particular, this was a bitter reality.

Alternate Universe. Really Really Alternate Universe. Like... oh, it's hard to explain. Elrohir is in it and he's an army medic and war is everywhere and Rivendell has burned to the ground (and the whole thing has a big modern twist). But they're all together still and they aren't going down without a fight. Give it a try if you're not scared of strange anachronisms.
