Chapter 2
Samus woke up and sat up to stretch. She looked around and remembered she was now staying at the mansion. She went to her wardrobe to get her power suit on. Before Samus left her room she checked her mirror.
Samus sat down at the table, watching the others eat. "Our first smash battle is today. This shall be fun and chaotic."
"Pika? Pikachu?" Is anyone else nervous or is it just me? Pikachu pushed his plate away.
"It's not just you Pikachu," Donkey Kong replied.
"Can someone pass me a slice of bread?" Kirby asked. Fox reached over, grabbed a slice and tossed it towards Kirby. If his aim would've been better then he wouldn't have hit Donkey Kong in the side of the head. Fox looked away trying to hide his amusement.
"Fox, next time pass it down the table."
"Sorry about that DK." Fox apologized, a grin still on his snout. Once everyone was finished eating, they headed to the backyard. Master Hand was waiting for them and before he started speaking he made sure all eight characters were there.
"Today is going to be the first of many more days, where you battle each other, to come. Each player has a damage meter. When you receive or deal a hit to your opponent your damage meter is going to increase. The higher the meter means the further they are launched when hit." Master Hand paused letting the information sink in before he continued.
"When you fly off the view of the screen far enough where you got no chance to recover, you are knocked out thus resulting in a loss of life. You have three main attacks. Standard, strong and smash attack. Now without further ado, let's smash it out. Do I have four volunteers?" Master Hand looked down at the characters who stood in front of him.
Link, Mario, Samus and Kirby stepped forward. Master Hand pressed a few buttons and the four characters were selected and shown on screen. The next screen he pressed a button and a stage was randomly picked. He announced that the stage chosen was Peach's Castle, which made Mario cheer happily. He told the four smashers to stand on the elevated platform on the side of the stage. It was going to transport them to the stages.
Link felt his feet lift off the ground as he warped to the stage. He was gently lowered and took his sword and shield out when we was standing again. Whoa, that is neat. I can warp in this game also. The Hylian watched Mario, Samus and Kirby make their entrance.
"3-2-1, Go!" Master Hand shouted. Mario headed for Link hoping to take him by surprise. Link was surprised that Mario was headed immediately for him, but he was able to block Mario's attack.
"This game should be Super Smash Foes instead of Smash Bros," Link said as Mario stumbled back. Mario grinned. Meanwhile, Kirby was getting ready to use his air attack on Mario. Samus blocked Links attack and when she saw that Mario was on the ground she used her blaster charge. Mario went flying off the screen yelling.
"Player 2 defeated!" Master Hand announced. Oh, we only get one life! Samus thought. The battle only lasted for three minutes. Kirby was the victor of the first smash battle, receiving congratulations when he returned to the mansion. Kirby thanked them seeming to turn even pinker.
"I never knew such a little guy could beat them all up so merciless," Fox said with a smile. Everyone laughed. The rest of the day was full of battles up until dinner. The smashers spoke about their victories and losses while they ate. Everyone was tired and relaxed for the rest of the evening.
