Chapter 6
"Bring it on, old son of a -" Link snarled. Zelda slapped her hand over his mouth, her eyes narrowed in a glare.
"Link, there are children around. Keep your language in check!" Zelda scolded. Link nodded after she removed her hand. He looked at Ganondorf with a sneer. Ganondorf grinned back at him, satisfied he got him worked up for the battles later this afternoon. Ganondorf couldn't wait to beat him.
"I'm excited," Peach said while they waited for everyone to gather at the selection area. Master Hand and Crazy Hand appeared, waiting in the air above the growing crowd. A couple more minutes ticked by until Master Hand started talking.
"The rest of this afternoon will consist of smash battles. For many of you this will be your first, but don't worry. I will go over the rules and explain how this will work out. I would like four out of the eight volunteers for a demonstration of how a battle works. Step up then you will be teleported to the stage 'Final Destination'."
The four characters who volunteered were Fox, Samus, Kirby and Donkey Kong. The characters who just entered the game had their focus on the big screen. They watched them fight one another, storing the rules inside of their memories.
"There you have it! It'll be fun and easy when you actually get on the stages," Crazy Hand chuckled. Now four other characters were chosen for their first battle. Four photos appeared on the screen. Captain Falcon, Peach, Ganondorf and Luigi looked up at their faces that were displayed on the screen.
"Sweet! Let's go!" Peach cheered once she got up onto the platform.
"Good luck!" Zelda shouted encouragingly. Young looked at Zelda.
"Can you imagine if Ganondorf wins?"
Zelda didn't answer. She had a feeling that he was going to be victorious. Peach pulled out a parasoul then used it to gently float to the ground. 'That was cute,' Zelda admired with a smile. Ganondorf won the battle and looked at the rest of the characters with a smug expression, when he returned. Mario gave Luigi a pat on the back, praising him on his efforts in the battle. Luigi mumbled a thanks, with a hint of a smile.
"That's the name of those two swordsmen!" Link snapped his fingers as he looked at the screen. Master Hand called out the names, Marth, Roy, Ice-Climbers and Zelda were up next for their battle. Zelda looked at her friends, who cheered while shouting words of encouragement. She quickly waved back at them then glanced at her opponents. The two young men named Marth and Roy seemed to be in a conversation. The red-head let out a laugh, shaking his head. Zelda realized they weren't speaking in english, she couldn't understand them. The Ice-Climbers were on her other side and she thought that they looked like siblings. The clothes they wore were gender-coordinated, the classic pink and blue for the boy and girl.
The battle took place at Pokémon stadium. The Hylian princess made her first opponent the ice-climbing duo. She used Din's fire in order to keep her distance. The Ice-Climbers screamed as they flew back, hitting the ground flat on their backs. Zelda ran towards them, skidding to a stop when she saw Roy beat her to them. She heard footsteps approaching behind her. With a quick glance she warped out of the way. Marth leaped into the air, striking the Ice-Climbers off the stage.
Zelda looked at Marth. He ran towards her until Roy cut him off. Zelda used Din's fire to blast them backwards.
The Ice-Climbers returned, targeting Marth. He quickly recovered slashing the red-haired a few times. His meter increased and he flew into the air. Zelda jumped over Marth, dashing to the edge of the stage. She hit him downwards and he lost a life. Zelda grasped the edge of the stage with the tips of her fingers. She dangled there, trying to compose herself before trying to lift herself up.
Zelda screamed when she felt her fingers slip. Zelda saw a bright light flash in front of her eyes. Then she reappeared back above the stage. She saw that she had only one more life left as opposed to the usual three lives. Before Zelda jumped down from her recovery platform she scanned everyone else's damage meter. She saw the Ice-Climbers were nowhere to be found.
Once on the stage Princess Zelda ran towards Marth, but he swiftly turned around and grabbed her by the fabric of her dress. Zelda didn't even get to yell at him before he knocked the wind out of her. She groaned, putting her hands on his hand clawing at him. He kneed her again, then threw her into the air. He jumped up and used Dolphin Slasy, sending Zelda away from him.
She hit the ground with a moan, gasping for breath. She looked at Marth and saw him with Roy. She kept her distance from them which meant her best method of attack would be to use her Din's Fire. When the fire was within range of the two swordsmen she snapped her fingers, which resulted in it exploding. Marth and Roy yelled as they went flying into the air. Marth was the first to recover which was fatal for Roy as he was Marths chosen target right now.
"Player 2 defeated!"
The Hylian Princess smiled, now it was one on one between just the two of them, a prince versus a princess. Once she got his damage to a satisfactory amount Zelda used a combo attack to launch him off the stage. Zelda jumped off the stage in order to hit him downwards, realizing her mistake too late.
Marth grabbed his blade, using his dolphin slash to strike her. The blue-haired swordsman smiled at her as they fell together. Now Zelda's damage was at the same percentage as Marth's. Zelda returned onto the Pokemon Stadium. She saw Marth standing on the other side of the stage. A yell escaped her lips when she saw how high their damage meters were set. At 300%, even the weakest attack will send them rocketing off the stage, resulting in either a quick victory or demise. Master Hand's voice boomed into the air.
"Sudden Death!"
Zelda was the first to connect her attack on her opponent. She waved at Marth tauntingly.
"Bye!"
"The winner is Zelda!"
Princess Zelda walked back to her group when she returned back to the mansion. Link pulled her in for a hug.
"You did magnificent," Link said when he pulled back. Zelda smiled with a nod. 'If only I wasn't such a damsel in distress back in Ocarina of Time.'
