It is a rewritten cycle. The events are going differently. Eragon doesn't start out as a farm boy. A dragon does not hatch for him right away. This is, in my opinion, a more realistic version with a more involved Galbatorix that uses its abilities rather than just sitting in a castle. It is necessary to read the cycle. For nearly two hundred years Eragon, and his dragon Saphira, have been away from Alagaësia, venturing to far off lands in seek of knowledge and adventure.
