-Jeremy's POV-
A cough came from the far corner of the room, and everyone looked at Tyler, "Umm so I can kinda feel him." The younger hybrid said, looking apologetically towards Jeremy.
"You what?" He asked.
"Not just you." Tyler said, "But Klaus too. It's like this little whisper in the back of my mind. It started while you were gone. Out of nowhere. I thought I was imagining things. But when you came home. I dunno... I just knew it was you."
"A pack bond." Ric said with an exasperated sigh, before he moved away from the wall he had been standing in front of, to the small area Elijah had set up a bar. He grabbed a glass and filled it. "Klaus made you." He said to Tyler as he took a sip, "So it makes sense that you two would be connected, even if you broke the vampire's sire bond, The wolf would still have a link of its own." he took another sip. "Klaus claiming a mate, probably sent a ripple through whatever link you had and now you are aware of it."
"Hell." Klaus muttered.
"Why couldn't they feel it before?" Caroline asked, leaning against her husband.
"Probably because they hated each other." Kol said, gaining a glare for Jeremy and Elijah. He raised his hands in the air, "Woah, I don't mean they still do. But think about it. Tyler hated what Klaus did to him, and Klaus after the fiasco that was his hybrids, didn't care about Tyler either. I'd bet their feelings buried the link. But things have changed, they aren't enemies anymore. And spending so much time around each other, probably gave the link a chance to grow. Klaus marking Jeremy more than likely sped it up."
"So why can't we feel him?" Jeremy asked.
"Have you tried?" Asked Matt.
Jeremy looked at his friend. Could it really be that simple? He thought, and then because he was curious he closed his eyes and sought out his blue web. He gasped when he found it, Klaus' strand had changed. Instead of the solid single strand of dark blue, it was as if a vibrante gold strand had joined it. He reached out for it and found he could feel them separately, the blue was all Klaus but the gold was different more primal, the wolf. He stared in wonder, then noticed another thin gold strand twisted inside his web. He moved away from Klaus' strand and reached for the smaller gold on. Curiosity and nerves greeted him and he smiled, sending amusement towards Tyler, whom he felt get aggravated. Jeremy laughed and opened his eyes.
"The hell, Gilbert!" Tyler shouted looking freaked.
"Sorry," He chuckled, giving his friend a grin.
"I take it you can feel him?" Matt asked, looking like he was trying not to laugh.
Jeremy nodded, "His is different, gold instead of blue and smaller, but yeah I can feel him." He turned to Klaus. "What about you?"
The hybrid glared at him, obviously not finding this as amusing as Jeremy was but closed his eyes. After a second Tyler yelped. Klaus opened his eyes and smirked at Jeremy, who rolled his eyes but grinned.
"Ass." Tyler muttered.
"Okay," Ric said, interrupting their new discovery, "As amusing as this is. We do have other things to discuss. I take it we can leave you four," He looked at Jeremy then the Originals, "to handle this new development amongst yourselves without bloodshed." Jeremy felt relieved when they all nodded. Then Ric looked at Tyler, "Same for you and Klaus?" He asked. Tyler didn't seem thrilled about it but he agreed. "Good, now what do we do about these witches?"
"What do they want?" Jeremy asked, having missed the conversation.
"There are a few covens here in New Orleans and right now they are split into two groups. One that wants all vampires, including us, dead. And another that is just trying to survive. As vampires have declared an open season on all witches." Klaus said.
"I have spoken with Vincent the leader of one of the bigger covens. He wishes for a truce with the vampires. He doesn't want any more of his people killed because of this other group. But Marcel, who is leading the vampires. Doesn't seem interested," Elijah added.
"Have you spoken to Marcel?" Kol asked, looking at Klaus.
"I have." He said.
"And?" Kol asked.
"He is angry and mistrustful." Klaus said, looking away from the group and grabbing his drink. Jeremy felt sorry for him. Having his son, hate him, had to hurt. He moved over and sat down on the couch next to the hybrid, taking his hand. There was a short tingling along on his neck, but it faded quickly. "We didn't get a chance to discuss the witches."
"Do you wish me to try?" Elijah asked. Klaus shook his head. "I'll try again tomorrow."
"Sooo," Caroline said smiling innocently, "Does that mean we have the day to sightsee?"
Matt and Jeremy burst out laughing at the frustrated sigh Ric, Klaus and Elijah let out at the same time.
"Elijah, can baby sit you." Klaus said, smirking at his brother before dropping Jeremy's hand a disappearing.
"Niklaus!" Elijah shouted disappearing to chase after his brother.
"Do you think they realize we don't need a babysitter?" Matt asked.
Kol snorted, "Trouble follows you lot. Of course you need a babysitter."
"Hey." Jeremy said, laughing, "I think we can handle ourselves just fine." Kol gave him an unimpressed look. Jeremy just leaned across the couch and kissed him.
"Come with us?" He asked when he pulled away.
Kol frowned, "I think I need to check on Nik and do some research," His finger brushed Jeremy's neck, just under the bite. "Go have fun with your friends."
Jeremy kissed him again and got off the couch.
"So who's all going?" He smiled. He was in a great mood, which given the information about the witches and vampires probably wasn't a good idea, but his boyfriends had taken Klaus' mark so much better than he had thought. No one had screamed or fought and he felt so relieved that he wasn't going to let himself worry about the witches until tomorrow.
"I'm in." Matt said.
Tyler sighed looking at his wife, who glared at him, "I'm in." He said a second later causing Caroline to smile happily.
"I think I'll sit this one out." Ric said, "You four can watch out for each other. Just please be careful." He said, giving them all a stern long look.
It didn't take the four of them long to change and hop into the SUV. Tyler all too excited to drive it and Caroline sitting next to him with a map of the city and list of places she wanted to check out on her phone. Jeremy and Matt ended up in the back, trying not to laugh as the newlyweds bickered.
"You okay?" Matt whispered at one point.
"It freaked me out." Jeremy admitted, "I thought for sure they would fight. They surprised me." He smiled looking at Matt.
"I meant about the claim?" Matt said, looking him in the eye. "That's kinda a big deal. And I know everyone was focused on the brothers not killing each other, but they overlooked how you might feel about it."
"I think I'm okay." He shrugged, "It hasn't changed anything." Tyler snorted from the front seat, "Eavesdropping is rude," Jeremy muttered, "Okay, so it changed something," He shot a glare at Tyler, "But I mean Klaus and I already had a bond. So, I haven't noticed anything else." Matt narrowed his eyes.
"Nothing at all?" He asked.
He sighed, Matt was too smart sometimes, "It tingles." He said poking the bite, "When I touch Klaus, mostly, but I think when I'm near him too."
"What'd it feel like?" Caroline asked.
"What do you mean?" He asked, looking up to see her turned in her seat looking at him.
"When he bit you?" Jeremy blushed so hard his face felt like it was on fire.
Matt laughed, "I'm not sure we wanna know."
But Jeremy could see it in her eyes, Caroline did. Not because of the steamy details as she called them, but because… he looked at Tyler, who was watching him in the mirror, and then back at Caroline. Oh, He thought.
"It was different than a vampire bite, those normally don't hurt. At least not from the siblings. But this did at first, not enough to, ummm ruin the mood." He blushed again, "But when he bit, like really bit, it was like everything just went white. All I could feel was how good it felt. Then afterwards it tingled. And I wanted to touch it." He looked down, "More than anything I wanted him to touch it badly."
"Kol did say, wolves were more tactile. It probably will be the same for you now." Matt reassured him.
Jeremy nodded and looked back up at Caroline who had a contemplative look on her face.
"Your thinking about it." he said.
She sighed, "It wouldn't work."
"What woul– Oh," Matt said.
Tyler pulled the car over, Jeremy not noticing they were at the first place Caroline wanted to visit.
"It's okay." She told the group, turning around to grab Tyler's hand and pulling him towards her and into a kiss. "I have him. I don't need a silly little bond."
The blonde didn't waste any time ushering them out of the car and into the shop. It was a clothing store and Jeremy quickly fell back to browse alone. Not wanting to give Caroline a chance to use him like a doll that needed to be dressed up.
He bumped into a tall blonde when he found a long coat he liked for Kol. "Sorry." He said, looking to make sure he hadn't hurt her. She gave him a shy smile, "It's alright."
"It's a pretty coat." She said, seeing where he was looking.
He nodded.
"For you?" She asked.
He smiled and shook his head, "For a friend." She smiled. "I think he will like it."
"I hope so." He said, reach up to grab it and take it off the hanger it was on.
"You're in danger." The woman whispered, somehow standing right next to him. Jeremy jumped when had she moved that close?
"What?" He whispered back, because it felt like the right thing to do.
"The witches. It's not what you think. You needed to look deeper," She shoved him away from her, "Before it is too late." And ran out the door.
"The hell?" he mumbled out loud. He thought about finding the others and telling them but he knew they would think she had been a danger and demand to go back to the house. And he felt like they needed this day out. Because it was clear something was building and they might not get another chance. So, instead he bought Kol his jacket and waited for the others to find him at the front of the store, sitting on a small bench playing Candy Crush on his phone.
The rest of their trip was mostly uneventful, except Caroline ordering and dragging them into a tattoo shop. Thankfully just to look around. Although it still somehow ended up with everyone debating if vampires or wolves could get tattoos. Which in turn had Jeremy blushing as he assured them vampires could have tattoos. Caroline had tried getting more details out of him but he refused.
All in all he was in a fantastic mood.
Right up until they pulled up to the house…
