Chapter 6

Confession

It turned out once Clover accepted her gift, the Alphas decided to court the rest of the pack. Alex got a toy duck. She kept it in her nest. Britney was given a goose. We ate that for dinner. Everyone was still abuzz with excitement. I was happy for them, but a part of me wanted to be courted too.

"Do you think it's too soon to check again?" Clover asked.

"I dunno, maybe another day or two?" Britney thought.

"Hey Sammy, what're you doing?" Alex laid down next to me, chewing on her toy.

"I'm fixing this coat. Does it look ok?" I held it up.

"It looks a little big. Is it for your dad?" She asked.

"Not exactly." I hummed as I found a hole near the sleeve.

"Who's it for?" Clover asked.

"… I met someone. He lives on the other side of the forest." I decided to would be easier to take them to see Tim.

"For real?" Alex asked.

"But that's where the humans live." Clover frowned.

"Don't you wanna come with me?" I asked.

"Fine." She crossed her arms. "But you're not off the hook."

I finished mending the coat and then we left for Tim's den. I led the way. As we got closer to Tim's, the girls were on high alert. I kept my ears open. We got to the clearing with the stone pond. My tail wagged.

"We're here." I smiled

"Sammy…" Clover frowned.

"We'll just see if Tim is home." I said.

"I- Alex! What are you doing?" She turned and saw Alex drinking out of the pond.

"I'm thirsty." She whined.

Clover sighed. "So, now what?"

"Um, I guess I'll go call him." I thought.

The girls hid in the bushes. I barked at the door until it opened. It was Jerry.

"Oh, Samantha, it's nice to see you again. I'm afraid Tim isn't home right now." He said.

"Aw, ok. I wanted the pack to meet Tim." I frowned.

"Come inside. I hope you won't mind the wait." Jerry stepped back.

Alex was the first to go in. Jerry was surprised. I went in next. Clover and Britney were last. Jerry took us to a large room with lots of shelves and a fire. We looked around. Alex laid next to the fire. Jerry brought in a tray with cups on it. We were each given one. I sipped it. It was some sort of tea.

"I suppose the dog is Alex?" Jerry sat on a stuffed chair. We sat with our tails curled to the side.

"Yeah, I'm Alex." She said, happy to have a drink.

"I'm Britney and this is Clover." Britney pointed to her.

"I'm Jerry. It's nice to meet you, girls." He told them.

"Do you live here?" Alex asked.

"Yes, I live here with Tim. I clean the house. I thought Sam would have told you." He puzzled.

"She wanted us to meet Tim first." Clover glared at me.

"Tim's good. You'll see." I told her.

"Yeah, we should meet him before we judge." Britney said.

"I see you brought another gift." Jerry gestured to the coat.

Clover's ears stuck straight up. Her eyebrows furrowed. "You didn't say you were courting him?"

"I gave him chickens." I said shyly.

"Tell us everything!" Alex cried.

I told them everything from the beginning. It took a bit. They were upset that I got so close to the hunters. But I reminded them that moving an omega in heat wasn't easy. Clover reluctantly agreed. Things picked up after I told them about lunch. Alex wanted to know what the food tasted like. Britney wanted to know what Tim did. Jerry said he worked a "tech company." He assured us it was very good. We heard the door open. Tim's voice echoed through the hall. I jumped up, my tail wagging fast. Clover smiled, her demeanor softened a bit.

"Let's go greet Tim, girls." Jerry got up.
