I thought I'd post a chapter just before I went back to college. Thanks to those who favorited and followed.

At the Pit the older siblings said later to their younger siblings as they re-started training the following morning and so the twins wander back to the dorms.

Their game had tired out Issy more than usual. Maybe it was the rush of jumping from rooftop to rooftop around twenty three feet in the air. Or it was the thrill of actually being allowed to jump from rooftop to rooftop. Whatever it was, as soon as Issy hit her bed, she was out like a light.

Just like always, Issy opened her eyes to the familiar darkness of the dorms and her fellow initiates sleeping. Checking her watch, her lips twitch. She had slept for longer that night and she could feel it. It was still too early for anyone else to be getting up but unlike the other mornings when she had woken up early she didn't make a move to get up and leave the dorms like she normally did. Instead she laid back down on her back and gazed at the ceiling above her.

Her first thoughts were of the next half of Stage One. Four hadn't told them anything other than they'll be starting something new. When Eric had stayed behind with her in the infirmary, he hadn't revealed anything either. She huffed, unable to think of anything they would need to learn. Her mind then wandered to her rankings. Not too long ago she was fifth out of all of the initiates' it seemed like a good rank to be at half way through Stage One. Anything could happen in Stage Two, which no one knew anything about yet, and their final test.

Through her thoughts of initiation, Issy wondered what Cara would have thought to it. Like the rest of her siblings, Cara was as wild as they came. Many people already thought Cara was more Dauntless than Erudite at fourteen than those that are getting ready to choose next year. She smiled as she remembered Cara struggle to take everything in when she had came on Visiting Day. It's four more years until Cara has to make the decision of her life.

Her brothers are the next to take over her mind. Now that she thinks about it, Declan seems so mature now then when he did at Erudite. She likes this more mature Declan as it makes her feel like Dec is actually the eldest brother. Hugo has always been the most responsible from a young age so she always felt like Hugo should be the eldest. But no matter how mature they may seem, they'll always be happy to prank each other. Issy smiles as she wonders how Max would react to a prank war between the siblings. How catastrophic.

Her thoughts are cut short as she hears footsteps near the door. Looking to her watch she sees that it is almost time for their walking-talking-scowling alarms to wake them up. Issy shuffles to the end of her bunk and hangs her legs off of the edge. The pounding of boots, more than one set of boots, get louder. 'Both Four and Eric must be coming.' Whoever is outside of the door seems to be arguing but they are speaking too low for Issy to catch anything. The door opens to reveal Four with Eric on his heels. Issy grins widely as she spots the dark bruising covering most of Four's face. Four catches Issy looking and he rolls his eyes at her.

"How wonderful for you to join the rest of your fellow initiates." He says sarcastically. "Finally realised that you do have some people who actually want to be friends?" Four speaks lowly to not wake anyone up just yet.

Issy's grin is feral in response. "That's a hell of a bruise on you face Four. If I'm lucky, it'll stay there for a while telling people how the legendary Four got his arse handed to him by and initiate." Light chuckles come from Eric by the door as Four scowls.

"If I was an Erudite transfer I think I'd be smart enough to know when to be careful." A smidge of threating laces into his words. The words are directed at Issy but Eric stops and glares at Four. Issy catches Eric's eye as she glances from him to Four, grinning.

"Calm down Four, it was just a joke." The tone Issy uses isn't joking though. "No need to be so stiff about it." Four freezes as Eric smirks, flicking on the light switch and roaring for the rest of them to wake, cutting Four off from answering. As the initiates groan and sit up groggily, Four storms out of the dorms.

"Everyone be outside the training room in half an hour." Eric yells while most begin to get up. Before he leaves, Eric pointedly looks to Issy and at the door and back to Issy. She nods in understanding as he leaves. Quick as she can, Issy grabs a pair of leggings and a tank top before going into the showers. Moments later she comes out and slips on her boots. After telling Alec that she wants to be there early she walks out of the dorms while she pulls her still damp her into a bun. Out of the darkness of another hallway a hand shoots out and grabs her elbow, pulling her to the side. Surprised, she stumbles into something hard and warm. She tries to stand up properly but hands pull her back as Korey and Charlie walk past them, muttering about something.

A breath leaves her, her chest exhales into someone else's, though she has a good idea who. The hallway is dark enough that Issy can't fully see Eric's face. The only thing she can really pinpoint are his eyes and his piercings when the low light glints off of them, she pulls away from his hands and steps back.

"As much as I like Four get pissed off, he is your instructor. Don't give him a reason to dock your points and drop your rank."

"Not even when he deserved it?" His teeth flash in the low lighting as she grins back.

"I suppose I'll allow it." He looks to the main hallway leading from the dorms. Somehow he produces a muffin from his pocket and nudges it towards her. "Go on. You did want to be there early, didn't you?" Issy smiles shyly as she takes the muffin and walks away from him. She doesn't need to look back to know his eyes are on her until he can see no more.

Instead of going the usual way to the training rooms, she takes a shortcut she had found one night. Once she gets to the training room doors no one else is there. She slides down the wall and crosses her legs on the floor. Absently, she picks at the muffin as a small blush makes its way onto her cheeks. She wonders what today has in store for them.

"Morning." Issy's head snaps up to see Kayden leaning on the wall opposite her. 'How had she not noticed his arrival?' Issy opened her mouth confused, neither of them have barely muttered five words to each other so why now?

"Uh, morning?" Kayden smirks at her as Bree barrels down the corridor towards her. Issy yelps under Bree's body weight.

"Bree! Get off!" The weight moves off of her and hands grasp at her arm, pulling her up.

"Sorry, just excited for tonight." Bree winks at her.

"Yeah, no stinky boys." They burst into a fit of giggles as said (stinky) boys arrive with most of the initiates behind them. Alec arches an eyebrow at them as they calm down.

It's not long before Four and Eric turn up, followed by Lauren, Lynn and the Dauntless borns. The instructors push their way through the Transfers with Four at the head. When Four passed Issy, he glared at her. She rolled her eyes. 'Someone's still pissy.' From the corner of her eyes she sees Alec look at her confused. Later, she mouths to him and he nods.

"Initiates follow us!" Lynn calls out as she walks straight past the door. All the initiates share a look while they jog to catch up. A few hallways down from the training room, they come to a stop.

"This," Four says as he unlocks one of the many doors in the hallway. "Is where you'll be having the rest of Stage One. Not always in this room but a few others in this hallway. This part of Stage One tests you on how you think on the spot, sometimes against a timer, using the skills you've learnt in the first part. Some days you'll be working in teams and others you'll be on your own." He twists the handle and opens the door wide. From where Issy is stood she can't see much but as they walk further into the room. It's probably the size of the training room, if not bigger. The twins' eyes gleam with excitement as they look over the room. An obstacle course takes up all of the room. Screens lined some of the walls with parts of the course they couldn't see from where they were stood. Issy's eyes quickly drift over what she guess they'll be doing today. Eric moves in front of a medium sized screen on the wall with his hands clasped behind his back.

"As you can see in front of you is a very large obstacle course. This is one of a few more that we have in store for you. This one concentrates on and enhances your balancing, leaping, ducking skills along with your strength of upper limbs, power of lower limbs and coordination. It will also allow you to become confident at a height." Eric's eyes scan over them before turning back to the screen and tapping it. An overview of the course comes up showing twelve labeled obstacles. The last one has a star next to it and Issy tries to see if she can see what it is but she can't. "Listen now Initiates because we're only going to go through it once." He points to the first obstacle and it lights up. "First we have the Stepping Stones, you jump from each one. Different sized crates spaced a part differently. Next there's the low wall you have to scale up and over. Following that is a series of low walls and wooden beams. You go over a wall then under a beam."

Lynn steps forward and the fourth obstacle lights up. "After that there a hole high up in a wall that you must get through before you come to the balancing bridge. The wooden plank stops in mid air with more crates you have to jump from to get down. To give you a small break, there's several mounds of uneven dirt before it throws you back into the big stuff. Then you come to the Apex Ladder. An 'A' structured ladder with wooden poles evenly spaced out. You go up then you come back down again. And then there's the tire wall, doesn't really matter how you get passed it as long as you do. You could go over or threw it, your choice. Next is similar to the indoor rock wall all of you have climbed except you'll be going across instead of up. This next one is similar to the first one except this time its tires. And then finally you have the warped wall. Get a good run up on this one or else you'll be there all day."

"You are timed on this initiates and will be against another." Four narrows his eyes on the crowd in front of him. "Be quick but don't do anything stupid. Now you may have noticed we only mentioned eleven obstacles to you, that's because the last one is optional and after the finish line. Once all of you have had a go at this we'll tell you more about this last one." He turns around as the screen clears and their names appear on the screen. "As there is an odd number of you one of you will be up against an Instructor. We will regulate this until everyone has been up against one of us. This is the order and who you're up against."

Meg vs Zara

Cody vs Luke

Crystal vs Tom

Jess vs Ollie

Charlie vs Korey

Noah vs Lilah

Hector vs Issy

Flare vs Alec

Sam vs Bree

Kayden vs Lauren

"First pairing, you're up!"

Lauren and Eric had headed to the end to direct them back to the rest as Meg and Zara walk slowly to the start, Issy and Hector grin at each other. While they wait for their turn, Bree, Cody, Noah, Flare, Lilah, Luke, Sam, Hec and the twins point out what they could do instead. When Meg crosses the finish first and slowly joins the rest Cody and Luke made their way to the starting line. The group of friends didn't know who to cheer for so they all settled with both. Once the timer started, they were off they stayed neck and neck until the hole in the wall when Luke had some problems getting through it. They watched the screens when they couldn't see them on the course. Luke took the lead when Cody hesitated on the bridge, the apex ladder and the tire wall. He obviously wasn't good with heights. Cody began to catch up when Luke tripped on the tires after completing the rock wall quickly. Both, however, slowed down when they should have sped up as they came to the wall. By pure luck and a bit of chance Cody managed to grab onto the bar at the top of the wall and heave himself up as Luke went for another go at it. Luke's hands latched onto the bar just as Cody stood up and began jogging towards the line. Through his tiredness Cody didn't realise that Luke had pulled himself up until Luke appeared in the corner of his eye, catching up swiftly. Surprised, Cody began to sprint to the line, making it across a second before Luke did. Their friends cheered for them both as Lynn called up the next pairing. Thankfully it wasn't any of them just yet. Cody and Luke gave out hints and advise to those who hadn't gone yet, they even made sure their voices were loud enough so the rest of the initiates that hadn't gone could hear them. Their instructor raised an eyebrow but said nothing.

Those that waited for their watched how others got through the course like hawks, picking up every detail that worked and failed that they could and then discussed what the others had picked up. Pairing after pairing went up. The winners consisted of Meg, Cody, Crystal, Charlie and Noah, having just passed the line. Noah's time currently was in first place, followed by Lilah's. Jumping on the balls of their feet and grinning madly, Hec and Issy made their way to the line wishing each other luck.

Four stood to the side, level with them. "Ready!" Both initiates got into running positions. Issy closed her eyes, concentrating on the course ahead of her and blocked out everything else. "Set!" Her eyes opened, blazing gold as they locked on the first obstacle. "… Go!"

With a boost, Issy took the lead with Hec hot on her heels. She swung herself onto the first crate and propelled herself to the next. 'Just like rooftops. Just like rooftops.' She repeated the thought in her head as she jumped from crate to crate. Hector made it to the wall first, heaving himself up. Her eyes flickered to a tall beam to the left of the wall on her side and ran to that. Nearing the beam, she jumped up and kicked herself away from the beam and over the wall. Rolling on impact, she hurried after Hector. This time there wasn't a beam near the low wall so she grabbed the top and lifted herself up and over then ducking the next beam. Once again she kicked herself off of the beam, over the wall and ducked under. She repeated that once more until she was free of the third obstacle, just behind Hec. Hector began to struggle getting to the window as she sprinted forward, launching at the wall, scaling the rest of the wall and falling through the hole. Now she was in the lead and that's how she's gonna keep it. She began to slow down, not wanting to make any stupid mistakes on the bridge. Issy raised her arms out to her sides to balance her and walked across the plank as quickly as she dared. She paused, looking back to check Hector's progress, he had only just got to the beam. She had time, but not a lot as she looked at the crates. Both were a lot thinner than the others, probably double width of the plank she was stood on. 'Fuck it!' She thought as she jumped, she didn't have enough time to think about it. Unsteadily, she landed on the first and then the second before her feet touched the ground again. A quick glance back caused Issy to speed her shit up, Hec was catching up. The ditch allowed her to speed up as the apex ladder came into view. 'It's the Dauntless version of those fancy metal and glass steps at Erudite Issy,' She thought to herself, tricking her mind into thinking its nothing as her nerves rose and fell. 'Nothing to worry about.' As she climbed onto the first few poles her confidence grew as she sped up with her arms out once again for balance. Issy was shocked when Hector whizzed past her and started to climb the next. Up and over she went, running towards the next obstacle. The tire wall. Lynn said it didn't matter how she got threw it as long as they did. Most so far had climbed up and over, like Hec was doing now. But Issy wouldn't stand a chance at winning if she did that, most of the tire's diameter was longer than her arm. A thought popped into her mind as the wall of tires got closer and she decided to risk it. Once she got near enough to the wall, she grabbed at the top of a tire, rolling in the rest of her limbs up and forward, hurling herself through the middle of the tire. Again she rolled on impact, grinning that it worked. She turned around momentarily and began jogging backwards, flashing Hec a wide grin to where he was perched on the top of the wall, a leg on each side, his jaw nearly touching the floor. She laughed at him, the noise snapping him out of his haze. She turned back and rushed forward as Hector began scurrying down the wall to catch up. She found the rock wall rather easy, scaling across it with ease. The tire pit was another thing she found rather easy, having fun as she leaped from tire to tire, level with Hector. Simultaneously, Hec and Issy sped up, neck and neck as they rushed to the warped wall. They both nimbly scaled it with precision, grabbing the bar and pulling themselves up with shaky limbs. Hec shot off towards the finish line first only to be caught up by Issy moments later. The last few yards of the track they ran, neither was able to get ahead of the other and they passed over the line. The timer stopped on the screens and the initiates gasped. Hector and Issy had drew, not a second more or less and had pushed Noah's time down a slot. Hector collapsed on the ground breathless while Issy rested her forehead against the cold wall. From the corner of her eye a water bottle appeared. She moved her head to see Eric smiling softly down at her.

"Don't drink to quickly, we don't want another repeat of last time."

"Hey!" Issy tried to sound offended but it came out in between her ragged breaths. "I had a muffin today. At least that's something." She uncapped the bottle and sipped small mouthfuls.

"Something or nothing, I wouldn't want that to happen again." The corner of his lips twitched down and he walked away without a second glance, handing Hec a bottle. Issy's eyes drifted to the floor. 'What? Since when does Eric smile softly at anyone?' Her brows furrowed down as a traitorous voice spoke up. Since he went out of his way to make sure you're okay. 'Shut up. It's his job as an instructor. He doesn't want any problems while training, that's all.' Is it? 'Shut it!' A clap on the back from Hec brought Issy out of her daze. She looked to him, noticing the sweat beading on his forehead. He held out a hand to help her up. Issy smiled, glad of the distraction of her thoughts as she screwed the lid on and took his hand, allowing him to heave her up from the floor.

"C'mon," Hector said. "Better get back to the rest before Alec and Flare go." Slowly Hector pulled his hand away and walked to where Lauren was waiting. Issy caught Eric narrowing his eyes at Hector's hand as it moved away from her. See? 'Oh fuck off!' Issy hated that small voice in her head with a burning passion.

Lauren gave them directions to get back to the rest and when they got into the view of the others, cheers broke out from their friends. Four rolled his eyes, calling for the next pairing. As Alec walked towards Four, Issy jogged forward, pulling her brother's arm back.

"Think Rooftop Tag." She said clearly, letting his arm fall to his side. Understanding flashed through his eyes as he nodded and caught up with Flare. Issy watched as her brother made his way through the course with determination. He keeps the lead and stays in front of Flare. It's not long until Alec passes over the line and his time stops. Her mouth parts as she looks at his time and then at hers and back to his.

"Bastard." She mumbled under hear breath, maybe she shouldn't have given him that advice. His time pushed hers and Hec's down into second and Flare's took over third. When Alec came back his smug face said it all as he lowered himself down next to his sister.

"Love you sis." He grinned cheekily. Issy shook her head at him and didn't answer as she concentrated on Bree's go. She shouted her support as Bree shot through the course, not as fast as those in the top three but fast enough that Issy could practically feel her best friend's rank raise. Issy buzzed with happiness when Bree finished first. Issy was so happy for her friend and so was Noah. Bree literally skipped back and Noah pulled her into a hug and didn't let go. Issy pulled and poked at Noah's arms, demanding he release her.

"Noah come on! Let go of my sister, its my go!"

Bree pulled away slowly, her eyes on Issy. "Sister?" She asked hopefully.

"Of heart and soul." Issy replied, wrapping her arms around Bree. "There's more to family than just blood." She whispered in her sister's ear. Together they sat down with arms linked, Alec joked that he always wanted another sister as did Cara. Throughout the last pairing Bree couldn't stop beaming. Lauren handed Kayden's ass to him and they were lead to the final obstacle that Four said was optional. Jaws dropped as they came to an hundred meter flaming pit full of coals that keep the fire alive. Metal structures were built five inches above the coals with wooden planks reaching from one end to the other.

"This is the Fire Pit." Four says as he stares at the embers. 'No shit, really?' "Your rank will not change if you decide not to do this nor will it change if you do. There are many that haven't risked it, I myself as one of them. Remember, there is a fine line between bravery and stupidity. Now, who wants a go?" The instructors are taken aback when six hands shoot up. Unsurprisingly, the twins are among them but the most surprising is Bree is too. "Alright, step up." Flare, Issy, Bree, Alec, Lilah and Kayden line up. "When you're ready." Four steps back.

"Bet you feel right at home, dontcha Flare?" Issy sasses causing Flare to laugh.

"Damn right I do girlie." And Flare sprints forward. They watch intrigued, if not slightly nervous until Flare gets to the end and starts laughing. "That is sick!" Grinning Issy follows after her laughing all the way. Heat licks at her legs as she sprints across. Jumping onto the ground her grin widens until her cheeks hurt.

"That is such a rush!" Issy laughs again, watching Bree sprints closer. Bree barrels into Issy with shining eyes, giggling. Alec, Lilah and Kayden follow soon after with smiles as widen as Issy's is. They share a look and burst out laughing, even Kayden joins in. They laugh at the stupid, reckless, crazy, amazing, awe-inspiring thing they just did alone but together at the same time. They laugh until it turns to giggles. The other initiates stare at them weirdly but they don't care. They calm down, wiping their eyes and holding their cheeks as they look towards their instructors. Four is pinching his nose and breathing deeply, Lynn and Lauren are shaking their heads as they smile and Eric is smirking.

"Finished?" Eric asks sarcastically.

"Yeah, we good." Bree answers back. If Eric was shocked that Bree answered when not too long ago she couldn't even look at him, he hid it well. He dismissed for the day, having had lunch brought to them. Issy and Bree grinned at each other, dinner then the night to themselves without any stinky boys.

When they get to the dinning hall, Issy drags Bree to where her brother's are sat with Blake, Marlene, Zeke and Tris. Issy sits next to Tris with on her other side.

"Congrats Issy!" Tris said. "I don't think we've had anyone draw before." The rest of the table add in their thoughts as Issy and Bree looked confused.

"How did you know that?" Bree asks and Blake points to two screens either end of the hall. The screens currently had their timings on. Alec in first, Issy and Hector joint second, Flare in third. Issy's eyes skimmed the rest of the names until she found Bree's. Sixth! Bree got sixth! Bree shook Issy's arm yelling the very same. Quickly, both girls shoved their dinner down and raced out of the hall, ignoring what their friends were shouting.

Laughing gleefully, they shot down the corridors, dodging and ducking around people.

"Wait!" Issy called back to Bree. "I have an idea, follow me!" Issy leads the way to the dorms with Bree on her heels. They come to a halt when Issy gets to bunk and starts pulling things out. "Aha!" She pulls out her sketch pad and motions Bree to sit next to her as she flips through the pages. Issy comes to a stop at a page with two designs on. One is Ying with geometric triangles around the curve making it the sun on top of an orangey yellow paint splatter. Underneath is a sentence in cursive writing: "She keeps me safe." with a small feather under "she". The other is Yang with small geometric stars on top of a blue paint splatter. Like the first is a sentence in cursive writing: "She keeps me wild." with small stars above "she". Bree's finger hovers over them.

"Issy they're beautiful. Are they for us?"

"If you want to…" Vulnerability seeps into the edges of her voice.

"Hell yeah! Race ya!" Laughing again, they run to the tattoo parlor, rushing past Eric, Hugo and Dec. Issy nearly runs Declan over and Bree sprints away. Dec steadies his sister and glances at her pad.

"Getting tattoos again?" His tone is exasperated but she can she the joking in his eyes. Issy looks over his shoulder as Bree runs away. She tries to get out of his hold but it tightens.

"Yes," She mock glares at him. "Problem?" Hugo and Eric smirk at the pair.

"Sorta, yeah." He mock glares back.

"Tough shit." Grabbing at his shoulders she propels herself up and out of his hold, pushing him to the floor. Laughter comes from Hugo and Eric as she grins, skirting around Dec. "Smell ya later!" She shouts over her shoulder, turning down a hallway she knows is a shortcut that comes out near the parlor. As she comes out of the other end she literally runs into Bree and they topple into a wall. Giggling, they pull each other up and burst into the parlor. Heads snap up as Issy runs over to Josh and Tori.

"Hey Golden Eyes, Bree." Josh waves. "What can we do for ya?" Issy flicks through her pad, finding the page and shows them both.

"We want this. Mine's the sun and hers is the moon."

"Okay, you," Josh points at Issy. "Come with me."

"And I'll take you." Tori pokes Bree lightly.

Together they lead them to two stations next to each other. Bree and Issy sit down and get comfy. Bree holds out her right wrist so Issy holds out her left.

"Oh! Fair warning, I tend to fall asleep when getting tattoos." Issy warns Bree and Tori laughs.

"Really?" They both ask at the same time.

"Hell yeah she does." Josh answers as he begins the tattoo and Issy can feel her eyelids begin to drop already. Somewhere she can hear quiet laughing as she relaxes and closes her eyes for a second. A push to the shoulder and giggles somewhere to her left wakes her up. Her eyes flutter open to see Declan right in front of her face. She jumps backwards in surprise, yelping as she does. A moment later she finds herself on the floor with her older brothers, Bree, Eric, Josh and Tori laughing at her. Dec falls to the floor himself from laughing too hard as he clutches his stomach. Issy huffs in annoyance and kicks him in the hip as she sits up.

"Your face!"

"My face? If anyone woke up to your ugly mug they'd shit themselves!" Declan stops as the others start laughing harder.

"My face is lacking everything you just said." Dec placed a hand over his heart and pretended to cry.

"It's not all you're lacking." She adds suggestively. Just as Eric, Hugo and Josh had calmed down they start laughing at their friend. Declan playfully tackles her to the ground again like they did when they were little. Despite Declan being stronger, Issy is quicker as they deal playful blows to each other. Issy lightly knees Dec above his crotch and he flinches instinctively. Using her advantage, she pushes him onto his back and pins him down, sitting on his chest. Bree and Tori clap as Issy sits there looking smug at her brother.

"Damn Declan, you are lacking, aren't you?" Josh laughs as Dec glares up at him.

"As any good brother, I let her win." He mumbles, not looking his sister in the eye. He yelps as she digs her heel into his crotch making him yelp quietly.

"Declan." Issy draws out, digging harder.

"Ow! Joking! Joking!"

"You better be." With help from Bree and Tori Issy stands up as Declan clutches his crotch.

"Bitch." He huffs, winking.

"And don't you forget it." She looks up to see the three men grinning proudly. She couldn't decide who looked prouder. Her brother, the man that in a short time has become a brother or the man that she's interested in. She grins at them as she and Bree pay for their tatts. "See ya Tori. See ya boys." Issy winks at Eric as she goes. They hear her brothers (both by blood and not) laugh at Eric's shocked expression as they close the door.

After this I honestly don't know when I'll update next but for now did you like it? What did you think to Bree and Issy's tatts?
