They both stand there, eyes golden and bodies tense. Issy smirks at him as she stares him down. Alec scowls back as his eyes flickers before he looks away. Her smirk widens as she falls back a step, winking at her older brothers as she walks out of the room without another word, aware all eyes are either on her or Alec.
Issy was on her way back to her flat through the Pit when someone called out her. As she turned around in the direction of where it came from someone knocked into her shoulder forcefully before someone else pushed her forward into the crowd of Dauntless. It was rush hour, an hour where most of Dauntless run to get their lunch in time before their shifts restart again. She should have known better, should have taken a different route back to her flat but she was just too high and smug on Alec's reaction to even think of the time. A hand grabbed her shoulder and pulled her to the side-lines of the Pit before she could be swept up into the ocean of black. She breathed in deeply, watching the many Dauntless members rush in so many directions.
"Shit, sorry Issy." Issy grinned at the familiar voice, one that she hasn't heard in a while. She turned to face Sam, who scratched the back of his neck nervously and looked off to the other side of the Pit distractedly before glancing back to Issy. "I didn't mean for you to get caught in the crowd."
"Sam! Its nice to see you. It feels like its been forever!"
"Yeah, it has now that I think about it. . . Anyway, do you remember that favour I asked of you in initiation?"
Issy sighs half heartedly. "Do you have girl problems again?"
"Uhh, no actually. Kylie, that girl I was trying to make jealous, wants to meet you." Sam again looked over to the other side of the Pit. "We were wondering if you waned to join us for a drink or two, and then maybe dinner as well?"
Issy was honestly shocked. "Um, yeah okay."
Sam appeared relieved as he nodded and began to guide her in the direction of one of the more quieter bars. Inside was still slightly crowded but not as much as the bar her brother favoured. Sam continued to guide her towards the back where several booths were placed along the wall and in one of the sat a familiar woman. The last time Issy had seen her was on the edge of the dance floor while the new members celebrated their rankings. Her hair was still the same pastel orange but this time it had streaks of white and darker orange and her eyes seemed larger and an even richer brown in the lighting. Sam smiled softly, a light blush on his cheeks as he slid next to her and Issy slid in front of them with a small, if not nervous smile.
"Hi, I'm Kylie."
"Hey." Issy says nervously, glancing between the couple.
Kylie noticed and turned to stare at Sam. She stares at him for a while before she slowly starts to shake her head. "You're an idiot." She smiles then at Issy. "I'm sorry but by your reaction I don't think Sam actually made anything clear. I want to thank you."
"Uhhh," Issy glanced unsurely at Sam who didn't look in her direction. "I'm sorry but why? I mean, I didn't exactly make a good first impression. . ."
Kylie laughed, shaking her head. "Maybe not but you did help me realise how much this idiot meant to me and with the faction that we live in, sometimes forever isn't guaranteed."
Issy nodded her head, understanding her words clearly. Even if her family had jobs that meant that they never left Dauntless there was always the chance that someone decided to stir the pot and ruin the peace that their city kept. "Yeah," Issy nodded again. "I get ya. So, how did you guys meet?" Issy grins at the pair in front of her, loving how Kylie grins the biggest grin and launches into the story completely unaware of Sam's eyes gazing at her. While Kylie's hands were all over the place to animate the story and Sam added his own thoughts in here and there, Issy realised her family was slowly getting bigger and bigger.
Oh my f-ing god guys... I am so sorry for the wait for this chapter, life got in the way from writing this and the major writer's block didn't help but don't worry, I am NEVER going to stop publishing this story even if it takes forever for me to update. I have an idea for the end (which is so far away) and possible scenes leading up to that, it'll just take time to actually write them up and publish it. I'd thought you guys would want have an update quickly rather than wait for my normal sized chapters, which the wait would have been longer for. Thanks to the guys that reviewed, followed, faved, and to the two guests that I can't reply to:
Hey: Don't worry, there's no pressure and don't worry, I'm not going to forget about this story either.
Guest: Thanks for checking out my pinterest board, honestly I had forgot about that and I actually need to update it. Unfortunately I haven't got a face claim for Issy but if anyone had any suggestions I'd happily check them.
