Dragons

Ron was with Hermione in the library. When Harry caught their kiss behind the book shelf, Ron mumbled,

'Well, I must go. Harry needs me. See you later, Hermione.' His ears turned red.

'I need to talk with you, two of you.' Harry urged them to sit down.

Hermione blushed and sat down next to Ron who sat right in front of Harry.

'Luna vanished with Professor Evans. I'll visit Headmistress's office. Come with me, Hermione. Ron, please stay with Ginny. She is very nervous around the tryouts. I planned to be with her, but I'm not sure I can come back on time.'

'Oh, you don't have to worry about them. Professor Evans asked Luna to have an extra lesson...' Hermione began talking, but Harry stopped her.

'I know, but it's weird that they turned out of the gates and vanished in the lane to Hogsmeade. I barely could catch a picture of the hills. Evans showed it to Luna before they disappeared.'

'Maybe they've left for the place where the dragons live in.' Ron said.

'Right. Wales?' Harry asked.

'Could be.' Hermione agreed, 'She'll be alright, Harry. We can ask Luna in detail when she comes back.'

'I hope so.'

McGonagall looked happy to see Harry again. She urged him to eat biscuits and served a cup of tea.

'Could you find a clue to your case, Mr Potter?'

'Not yet. I have something to ask you, professor.' Harry sat down on the chintz sofa. Hermione sat next to him.

'Oh, what can I do for you?'

'Well,' Harry looked up at the portraits of the headmasters. 'I am wondering if any of you caught something fishy since the school has begun this autumn.'

Dumbledore of the portrait opened his eyes, 'Good afternoon, Harry. I reckon you are asking about a new DADA teacher. She is a Muggle-Born. Her knowledge around the ancient magic is our treasure. Miss Granger is lucky to learn about it. How is the lesson, Miss Granger?'

Hermione smiled at Dumbledore, 'I don't know. Dragons are dangerous creatures. I don't still understand why we should learn about them in the DADA class.'

'Well, you have mounted on the back of the blind dragon. Do you know about them?' Dumbledore's eyes twinkled, Harry thought, mischievously.

'No, I don't. And I don't want to know about the creatures. The mission at the Gringotts was so... scary, I don't feel I will try it again.' Her voice was trembling.

Harry patted her arm to ease her feeling. He thought about her trauma related to Bellatrix Lestrange she transformed herself for the mission before the battle.

'Dragons are classified as the most dangerous creatures. She knows what the dragon keepers don't know. According to Charlie Weasley, deformed babies were born last year. We are afraid some of them will turn into more dangerous creatures for the wizarding world.'

'I still don't get it. What connection exists between the deformed babies and the lesson?' Hermione asked.

'Professor Evans proved their dangerous nature in her thesis. We think highly of her proof.'

'What proof did she do?' Harry asked.

'They will attack humans.' Dumbledore's face changed to serious.

'Well, we know there are the possibilities like when we steal their eggs or when they want to... eat us. ' Harry answered.

'They can communicate with the humans under one condition.' Dumbledore said darkly.

Harry and Hermione exchanged glances with horror, and asked together,

'What condition?'

'Researchers work in progress right now and Professor Evans try to teach us how to protect ourselves.'

'Does it mean tragedy will be repeated just like Voldemort and the Death Eaters used the giants against us?' Hermione asked in horror.

'It will be worse. They fly and burn everything. ' Harry stared at Dumbledore of the portrait.

'You understand now, Harry. That's why we need professor Evans.'
